(I apologize in advance for dumping on your post lol)
I can't reblog the post about Hector you gushed on lmao, but I'm also so intrigued by the idea that Dracula favored Hector over Alucard <3
Imagine. You'd think that Drac would give the special treatment to his legitimate son. But Adrian doesn't fight for him. Adrian doesn't like his vampire heritage. Adrian sure loves his father, but he leans closer to Lisa, he wants to learn all about her heritage, he would love to explore the human world. Dracula loves his boy, absolutely... but there is a wall between them. And Dracula's love is intense... but to me, it seems that it's conditional.
Hector is perfect in this regard. Both Hector and Isaac are blank slates begging to be written on. They already fear God and want nothing to do with humans, and they both cling to Dracula as their savior, they want to learn from him. But Hector is a prodigy in the dark arts on top of that... and it's also possible that his meeker personality (read: the result of being abused) made him a little more malleable and easier to handle than Isaac :)
So in short. Isaac was fine because he was utterly devoted to Dracula, but he's also not particularly impressive (for Dracula's standards) and perhaps "too much". Adrian was fine as the son of his flesh and blood, but Lisa also co-parented him so he wasn't his, he was theirs. Hector is a marvelous student, a formidable warrior who fought for Dracula's sake, is loyal and intelligent at the same time, looks up to no one but Dracula, and is a joy to mold how he sees fit :)
(also, to be a little creepy... Alucard looks a lot like Lisa. Hector looks much more like a young Dracula.)
Basically what I'm trying to say is golden child Hector fawned over by Dracula over his other "sons", even Adrian himself, for utterly selfish reasons, lives in my head rent free ❤️ well I think I made this clear enough lmaoooo
That being said, I'd devour a story where Adrian and Hector, after a lifetime of a generally cold relationship, grow closer after their "father" goes mad, understand that they have more in common than they were made to think :) it's not enough to erase the effects of Dracula playing games with them. But it's enough to give strength to each other for the time being.
Yes canon doesn't touch on this. This means we can imagine whatever we want ❤️
DON'T APOLOGIZE I LOVE TALKING TO YOU

that's the thing about it, isn't it? that ol' Drac clearly has the capacity for love and goodness, even after renouncing his humanity and due in no small part to Lisa's influence, but even at the height of his 'good' era there's such a selfishness to that love. it makes you wonder what Lisa saw in him, or maybe i'd even go a step further and say it's because of her 'holy heritage' there's some kind of sick satisfaction in 'turning' her over to his god-hating side and making her his wife - a love that's genuine but not pure by any means, how this extends to the rest of his relationships. and you then have to wonder if that just comes with the vampirism or if he was always like that (especially wrt to Elizabetha) (as an aside, i've always been curious how they reconcile such a huge difference in ideology, and feel like that may have also played a part in Alucard not being as close to his father)
Hector is perfect in this regard. Both Hector and Isaac are blank slates begging to be written on. They already fear God and want nothing to do with humans, and they both cling to Dracula as their savior, they want to learn from him. i think it goes beyond them being blank slates, and even Hector's various plusses, in that Hector's position is just too ideal for Drac to take advantage of - he only ever knew of his mother's abuse towards him, which i imagine would turn him off becoming close to Lisa at first (and ahhh, how it breaks my heart to think of baby Hec meeting Lisa for the first time and only expecting more cruelty. aren't all mothers the same?) but then there's also the novelty of fatherly affection, which is an entirely new concept to him. and Hec becomes so desperate for it, but not to the point of self-nullification like Isaac
i'd even argue Isaac is actually less of a blank slate than he appears because he's already decided for himself he wants to be used, he wants to be a tool for Drac, and as contradictory as it seems, that demonstrates more agency and self-determination than hector - that's still a desire that comes from within, and not something imposed on him by Drac, which in turn makes Isaac the less attractive option to him (the absolute rat bastard c:)
(also, to be a little creepy... Alucard looks a lot like Lisa. Hector looks much more like a young Dracula.)
we CANNOT ignore this, god the ego of this man....do you ever think the way Hec styles his hair is a nod to him really embodying being a mini-me of Drac? i imagine it must be a pain in the ass keeping that not-too-short-but-not-quite-long-enough-to-tie-back length when he's serving in such an active role as general but y'know. if it'd make a certain someone happy, he'll gladly suffer the annoyance :^)

i generally come from the opposite end where i headcanon they were friends, at first, and grew distant over time with Drac pitting them against each other (and Alucard uncovering more hang-ups about being around humans once his vampiric nature really starts to come through) but y'know what? them reconciling after all that and realizing they were both being played works too~
i think konami should hire us :3
