Musicals are time loops. Every night, the same thing happens except for a few minor differences. It always ends the same. If you want the characters to do something different or to make better choices, too bad. The actors are bound by the script and the score. The only way for the time loop to end is for the show to close. But you (the audience) don't want the show to close, nor do the actors who would like to be employed. It's a lose/lose situation. For the actors, audience, technicians, and for the characters, who are forever stuck in the same stretch of time.

where do asks come from in askblog lore? why is duncan vizla on tumblr? why does duncan speak so openly about his time as a hitman? these questions all boil down to two answers: suspension of disbelief, and interactability. his answers would be a hell of a lot shorter if he didn’t talk about hitman stuff, and this blog would be much emptier without his occasional reblogs of winter forests. it’s all just for the sake of content and making this blog interesting.

when does this askblog take place/what are your verses?

this blog is a post-canon rp blog. duncan lives with camille in alaska (moved after the events of the movie so as to not be tracked further), but their cabin is still relatively the same. they’re a lot more remote these days, and ask answers will reflect that. their letters are picked up biweekly from an in-town p.o. box.

how do you feel about general anons, oc interactions, longform rp, crossovers, etc?

totally fine with all of them, but if you’re super nervous just shoot me an ask. the only things offlimits for me at the moment are nsfw and magic anons.

my longform rps (distinguished by prose/description) are logged under #**thread while my conversational rps (no prose or description) are logged under #**convos.

are you okay with HEU ships?

yeah, i don’t care. go for it, just don’t force it. the ships dont even have to be mads x hugh (meaning i don’t mind mads x mads) or any of the popular HEU pairings. if you dare to try, i’ll probably at least acknowledge your efforts.

with that in mind, i’m currently nonexclusive. this means i don’t just dabble in one ship, i dip into everything until i maybe find something that strikes my fancy. i do require that the mun/mod of the character im shipping with is 18+, though.

depiction info.

this duncan depiction may be chattier than you’re used to. it’s just my depiction of him when he’s not under constant stress and comfortably settling into retirement. he’s notably very fond of dry humor and dad jokes.

him being in retirement =/= docile/pacifistic/no longer dangerous. if you attack or threaten duncan in an ask, rp starter, etc. (or even worse, do any of that to camille) he will retaliate, and possibly with unreasonable force if he believes it is necessary.

duncan is not helpless to modern technology. he’s a grandpa sure, but he can still work a phone, computer, and most modes of contact. how else would he have picked up hit contracts? try not to patronize him.

duncan is demiromantic and bisexual, but he doesn't know of those labels nor care about them. by default, he will refer to "a wife" because that's how he was raised, but he wouldn't mind being with a man. bear with his ignorance; he's not exactly a professional at this whole romance thing.

camille is also a pseudo-member of this blog. you can ask about her via duncan, or directly ask her, but most of the time she stays offline/prefers penpals; so if you’d like to contact her directly, send a letter. just don’t be too threatening.. duncan checks the mail for ransom scams.

this depiction has a myriad of different inspirations: john wick, anton chigurh, simon "ghost" riley, keegan p. russ, etc., so he may talk differently with minor inflections as well.

i imagine him to have an odd hybrid between a southern US-american and movie-typical russian accent. (i know he has no accent in the movie; this is just extra sauce.)

Genuine question, but going anon, cause I don't want any angry gelphies after me. 1. Cynthia Erivo said multiple times, that Gelphie is platonic. 2. She is a queer woman, if she wanted to indicate in her performance any romantic interest towards Glinda, she probably would have done so, or would have gotten them put it in the text/script. So why do we think Anything that Glinda may or may not feel is reciprocated by Elphaba?

there are many versions of wicked, and of glinda and elphaba - the original book series, dozens of productions of the musical, etc. - and the movie is only the most recent one. many gelphie shippers consider themselves primarily bookverse shippers, or musicalverse shippers, or even shippers of one production in particular.

though i love cynthia erivo, she does not own elphaba. she isn’t the first person to play her, and she won’t be the last. she doesn’t have the final say on the character and her feelings.

even if ms. erivo was the only actress to ever play elphaba, what you’ve described is just not how shipping culture works. it doesn’t (and has never until very recently) depended on whether the actors approve of it - just ask any spirk shipper! playing elphaba doesn’t put her in charge of interpretations of the character forever. that would not only be no fun for anyone in the fandom (not just gelphies!) but counterproductive to media analysis in general.
