Bougainvillea flowers 52Frames weekly challenge Week 20 - Details .. .. A common view here in Guadalajara: Fences covered with colorful bouganvilleas. We usually think the red petals are the flowers but they are not. These red petals are in charge of protecting the actual flowers, which are really small and in the middle of the bush, as in this image. I decided to go for a wide angle macro, so as to learn a little bit more about the technique, and give more visibility the area surrounding the macro. .. .. #52Frames_details #52frames #52framesweeklychallenge_Details #52framesphotographers #52framesweeklychallenge #NaturePhotography #storytelling #StillLife #wideanglemacro #macrophotography

You could say they’ve got a s…ty life, but dung beetles like these ones (probably a Kepher sp.) are happy with that! Dung, especially that of herbivores like elephants and rhinos, is a still highly valuable source of energy for both the adult beetles and, such as in this case, for their future larvae. This couple (male rolling the ball, female holding tight to it) is about to bury this big “take away food” and deposit an egg on it. The larva will have a fresh pile of…food and it will eventually pupate inside it, protected underground. And remember, as someone once said: “if we didn’t have dung beetles, Africa would have been covered by s…t in less than a decade”! :-) maybe a little bit exaggerated, but surely truthful in its message! Shot with Nikon Z9, Nikon 8-15mm fisheye, Godox mf12 flash. 1/30 sec, iso 1000, f/16 #dung #dungbeetle #insect #nature #southafrica #wideanglemacro #conservation #picoftheday @ilcp_photographers @nikonitalia @nikoneurope @godox_global @ivorywilderness (at Klaserie Private Game Reserve) https://www.instagram.com/p/CnRyszBqzA-/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Sharp-tailed bee on Douglas aster. An image shot in wide angle. The flowers, so close together to our eyes, are given some distance as if being viewed from the perspective of being tiny, like a bee. ~~~~~~~~#wideanglemacro #coelioxys #cuckooleafcutterbee #sharptailedbee #astersubspicatus #douglasaster #natgeoyourshot #mat_macro_bees #laowa15mmmacro https://www.instagram.com/p/Brc69w1BdpL/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=gtyx9estw9c3

Life comes and life goes in a fluent stream of energy. This tadpole of Rana temporaria didn’t reach another day and although I love all the Amphibians, I was amazed to see this big predatory water beetle larva (Dytiscus sp.) who gained is lunch in a beautiful pond of the @parcobeigua in Italy. The incredible Malayan trap-door spider (Liphistius malayanus) is among the most astonishing species I’ve seen in my life. With its segmented abdomens, Liphistius are the only living spiders with this characteristic and they reminds how spiders where around 350 millions years ago. I went to Malaysia on 2018 to find it where it’s populations are rapidly declining because of smugglers who go there at night to dig them out and sell them around the world. I’m not against spider keeping, in fact I always kept some myself too, but this particular situation isn’t sustainable and they’re continuously wild caught. At this rate, in a few years the population will eventually drop to zero, cause there will be no more chance for a adult male to find a female to mate with (they don’t tend to go far from their burrows). So, for the #worldwilflifeday I decided to dedicate my new post to this beautiful “old looking” spider from a distant beautiful forest. #spider #naturelovers #wildlife #macro #wideanglemacro #laowa15mm #arachnid #picoftheday #conservation #arthropod #spidersofinstagram #discoverwildlife #wildlifeplanet @ilcp_photographers https://www.instagram.com/p/CL9ilyOAz-O/?igshid=65yusy4orpq8

A tiny adult female Long-legged sac spider (Cheiracantium mildei) waiting for a mate or to lay its eggs inside its web lair on a stem in the grasslands of Northern Apennines. This shoot was taken by using my self-built relay system and using the @venuslaowa 100mm ultra-macro as a base lens attached to the camera. I had to crop a bit the actual frame to remove the lens border visible around the corners, but the overall image quality is really pleasing to me. #photography #macro #ultrawideangle #wideangle #wideanglemacro #spider #arachnid #cheiracanthium #italy #picoftheday @ilcp_photographers https://www.instagram.com/p/CCEDpjsgIqO/?igshid=1r30q1c5smn1b

In the forest of Ranomafana National Park you can find dragons. They’re just tiny and delicate, easily damaged by land destruction and pollution. But they nonetheless there, like this amazing Leaf-tailed gecko (Uroplatus phantasticus) found by my guide some years ago while I was trying to document some of the most stunningly camouflaged animals with my friends and colleagues @messinanicola and @francesco_tomasinelli in Madagascar’s rainforests. #gecko #reptiles #herp #mostrakryptos #madagascar #ranomafana #conservation #herpingtheglobe #wideanglemacro #mostrakryptos @ilcp_photographers https://www.instagram.com/p/B9UXvCPK7OX/?igshid=2bddc2ob1guw

A beautiful Macrodontia cf. zischkai photographed in the primary forest of Peru, near @losamigosbiologicalstation. This longhorn beetle is among the biggest beetles of South America, even if the dimensions variate depending on the quality and quantity of food which they ingest during their larval stages. They only live a few weeks once adult and they really rare to see. I was very happy that my Elena found it very close to the station. It stayed still enough for me to take this image wit a long exposure at more than f/16. Thanks dude! #pickoftheday #insect #macrodontia #rainforest #laowa15mm #wideanglemacro #macrophotography #biodiversity #selva #peru @amazonconservation @conservacionamazonica @ilcp_photographers (presso Los Amigos Biological Station) https://www.instagram.com/p/B11OAS1AqzI/?igshid=3g47uaxcsy8a

Water strider (Gerris sp.) checking a stonefly (Plecoptera) on the water surface. This image was shot by using the incredible @venuslaowa 24mm probelens, which permitted me to get low and close to this skittish animal without alarming it. It’s amazing how technology permits to get close to the animals today without disturbing them or having to build controlled condition situations. I love this kind of technology. #macro #insect #strider #waterstrider #gerris #bug #water #predatoridelmicrocosmo #arthropod #pickoftheday #laowa #wideanglemacro #perspective #microcosmos https://www.instagram.com/emanuele_biggi/p/BwT5gvBBMCO/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=np8b1pnn5uoq

Back to classics! 🙂 Asilidae robber fly on a wooden deck in Botswana. This is my first ever test of a DIY macro wide angle lens which I ideated starting with the @venuslaowa 25mm ultramacro and adding to it a cctv lens thanks to a custom built “thing” by my beloved brother Giovanni. The results seem very promising and the quality is already great. #pickoftheday #insect #asilidae #botswana #kgalagadi #wideangle #wideanglemacro #doityourself #diy #fly (presso Kgalagadi District) https://www.instagram.com/p/BzbRbz3o9XI/?igshid=e9q5xspj8zq4

Last night was a very nice one! After dinner I visited a small park of Rome where you can actually walk among green toads (Bofotes balearicus) and crested newts (Triturus carnifex) in the middle of the Old City. I loved the equilibrium between wildlife and the buildings. So I took my beloved 15mm macro and took a few shots! #amphibian #newt #crestednewt #urbanwildlife #salamander #nightlife #rome #roma #night #predatoridelmicrocosmo #wideanglemacro @venuslaowa https://www.instagram.com/p/ByDFONDI0Xi/?igshid=1xv34zcd7ksis

Looking under a Welwitschia mirabilis is always amazing! You can easily see tens or even hundreds of the so called Welwitschia bugs (Odontopus sexpunctatus or Probergrothius angolensis depending on the location). A world of shades into a place of light, where every drop available lymph or water counts. #pickoftheday #welwitschia #namibia #desert #plant #bug #odontopus #pyrrhocoridae #insect #wideanglemacro #wideangle #wildlife #delicate #hardlife @ilcp_photographers (presso Swakopmund, Namibia) https://www.instagram.com/p/Br5npESBgTc/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1d3ouiuk9wybw
