Scottish Wildlife Cruises - Killer Whales

Love this sea lion photo by: • @anbusiello Sea Lion puppy resting on a beach in Floreana Island. - Baby sea lions weigh about 13-20 pounds and are 2.5 feet long when they are born. A full grown male sea lion can weigh up to 800 pounds and can be up to 8 feet long. - The average lifespan of the sea lion is about 20 years, but occasionally they can live all the way to 30 years. Their age can be determined by counting  the layers in their teeth, just like the rings in a tree trunk are used to determine the tree age. - Most people make confusion between sea lions and seals. They are two different animals. Here 3 differences to help recognize them. Sea lions have visible ear flaps. Sea lions walk on land using their large flippers while seals bounce on their bellies. Sea lions  bark loudly while seals are quieter, vocalizing via soft grunts.
