character intro: suraj

my problem. child. the love of my life. wip intro

“I lied,” Suraj admits, examining his nails carelessly. 

“You lied? I could have died, genius!” 

“But you didn’t,” Suraj snaps. “You didn’t, you’re alive, and you saved the lives of a couple people. Congrats. Now you’ve just got to safe a few hundred more and we’re good.” 

basics: 14. he's dubbed the 'tech guy' of the service, but he literally does everything else as well, except work out on the field. HE'S SUCH AN ASSHOLE. literally, if he weren't on the good guy's side he'd be the antagonist of this story for sure. anyways axkjfdfkhds. on to the actual character intro bit. 

looks: tall. messy black hair, brown eyes & rich copper skin. has a pen in his mouth like 80% of the time. you'll find him wearing either a. sweatpants b. a full on suit [literally i'm not even kidding. a SUIT.] or c. a kurta. he loves his kurtas btw. AND he looks good in them.

personality: he's such an asshole. [i've said this a lot before, GUESS WHAT, i will elaborate.] he's got a lot of Parent Issues and was taken in by the Service at a really young age; so he grew up with knives and guns and laptops and the like. he's snarky as shit, and will beat you down [like with words] if he thinks it'll help you. even if it doesn't help you he'd do it anyways if you irritate him [EVERYONE irritates him] or if you messed up somewhere. would ruin you heartlessly & mercilessly in front of everyone. if it came down to it, he'd sacrifice one person whom he really cares about to save the world. he's cocky, overconfident [and for good reason; he's practically the best operative there is and he KNOWS it], arrogant, short-tempered and just a Shithead. but underneath all that bluster, there's a kid, just 14 years old, remember, who's insecure and has abandonment issues. he's repressed all his emotions and it definitely isn't healthy; but he's never had anyone to listen to him. he's lonely. really fucking lonely. his parents leaving him [and each other] Fucked Him Up Bad, and he saw some really terrible things that destroyed his faith in people. + he's struggling with himself, conflicted about his identity, and he hasn't figured out who he is, just yet. suraj carries the weight of the world on his stupid shoulders, and will take on every problem by himself because he doesn't know to ask for help. he's not a coward in any way, or form. he will lie if it's for the good of the world, and will also lie in general [he’s a damn good liar]. extraordinary at manipulating people. he can be counted on to make the tough decisions. he's also got the Big Brother instinct.

other cool things: i think i gave a lot of info in the personality thing ksjdhs. but, a few fun facts!! 1, he knows he's Fucked up. he's so deeply aware of his flaws. also, he's really bad at apologising but he tries anyways. i love him so much. he’s a bad person but he’s trying to get better. love him.

character intro: anusha [20sl]

my girl anusha. made with this picrew!!

"if you didn't want me to push the button, why'd you tell me to?" anusha nearly yells, her voice pitched high with panic. shit. shit. she'd never asked for any of this. she doesn't want any of this.

basics: favourite subject is drama. she's an ambivert. very graceful, actually. she's literally just kind of vibing. struggling to get through middle school.

looks: long black hair, normally pulled up into a half-pony or braided. square glasses, she HATES them. acne on her cheeks. she's got this one necklace her dad gave her. dark brown skin, she's short as fuck. probably like, 5'2.

personality: she's timid, shy. like, really timid. teachers CONSTANTLY ask her to speak up. it's surprise to everyone that she's goddamn good at acting; it's like when she steps up onto the stage, she's someone else. she gets emotional pretty quickly; would cry over titanic. a little absent-minded in school, she's almost always got her head in some dream world somewhere. loves books, LOVES BOOKS, she's often wished to be a character in her books. she panics in stressful situations pretty easily. she has a surprisingly strong will; anusha's stubborn, defiant [but like shyly], and loud when she wants to be. her stubbornness pisses suraj off SO much, but it's a pretty good quality. not easily beaten down.

some fun facts: terrified of frogs. she sees one and she's on the other side of the street in ten seconds flat. she has a pet dog named marco, after marco polo, the game. she is also my child.

wip: 20 seconds left.

[shucks. hello, folks, this is an old, old wip that i'm dusting off because i actually. like it. it's kinda silly and kiddish and 11 year olds will LOVE it, methinks.] [the name is uh. a work in progress.]

Anusha's just a normal girl, okay? She's 12, she's trying to get through middle school, she's got archaeologists for parents who make her gag every time they act lovey-dovey, and she's got the 'hide behind your books and stay quiet' thing down.

Until she drops smack into a spy plot. Like, straight out of your James Bond novels spy plot. [Why is it called James Bond anyways? What's wrong with Jame?] Anusha, a twelve-year-old, she might add, if she were the one writing this, now has to deal with: 19 year old villains, a bomb and a scheme years in the making, the idiot tech guy, her over-over-over-protective best friend, and trying to stop her home from blowing up.

She'd always wished to be a character in her books. She didn't think it'd end up being like this.

main characters;

anusha: our protagonist. normal kid. she's literally just vibing BUT her parents HAD to make the biggest find of the century, and now there are people trying to blow her up. it's the worst. she's average intelligence, her favourite subject is drama, she loves to cry over silly movies, LOUD, panicky in stressful situations, her best friend is an overprotective, much smarter dude. doesn't want any of this. doesn't really have a choice. character intro.

suraj; unofficial tech guy of the Service. 14. he's such an asshole i repeat a VERY big asshole. accidentally becomes a big brother. he can't blame anyone but himself. really smart, kind of a terrible, terrible person, but he's trying to get better. he really is. character intro.

shree: the mentioned best friend. 13. she's ready to PUNCH. very violent, very angry, funny, and she and anusha bounce off each other really well. introvert. sarcastic as heck, will swear and parents love her. the type to whisper thoughts about everyone else as they walk past you like 'eyy her dress is cute' 'i want to steal that fancy watch he's wearing'. she is this [-] close to punching suraj.

sonia; the villain. she's sexy. 19. i would make out with her 10/10 and so would the rest of the cast actually. she's been stealing since she was. 13, i think? flirty, sneaky, good at sneaking around & blending in, and a carbon copy of anusha, just a little older. it's like they're sisters.

that's all for now, i think! i love this wip, i changed a bit of it around before getting the intro ready. i'm excited for it :D

!!! here's the wip intro but i am going to ramble more about it because i LOVE IT. so, originally, anusha & suraj were called tina & michael and he wasn't AS MUCH of a dick as suraj, but then i got tired of not finding any good desi spy rep for kids anywhere so i went fuck it, i'm writing that. so i switched the characters, changed the plot a little bit, kept my favourite scenes, and voila! 20 seconds left was BORN. it awoke when i was going through my millions of notebooks to sort them out and i found little excerpts written in pieces of paper, carefully placed in files. yeah. here's one of those excerpts:

Suraj glances at the guy who's standing in front of Anusha, right now, hands extended in what he's guessing is some sort of karate position.

"Anirudh," Anusha hisses. "Get out of here. I'm okay, I swear."

"I'm here to protect your honour, Anu. I'll save you from the- the guy in sweats who's wearing glasses." Anirudh raises his right fist and levels a fierce glare at Suraj, who chokes back his laughter.

"Do you guys have a thing?" he asks, directing his question at Anusha.

"We do not have a thing!" Anusha yelps, and Shree, next to Anusha, shakes her head.

"They totally have a thing, don't they," Suraj says dryly, and Shree nods.

"Oh, yeah. He's been in love with her since day one of kindergarten."

"Shree! Shut up. He does not need to know that."

"I do," Suraj says, gleefully. "Shree, thank you, my darling, what can I do to repay this?"

"Don't let up on the teasing."

Suraj ignores Anusha's cursing and winks at Anirudh, who looks ready to drop his stance in favour of the blush that's spreading across his face right now. Suraj fights his grin. God, this is fun. "That's not going to be a problem, at all."

Everything stills. It’s just Anusha, the knife pointing at her chest, the tip hovering right over where she knows her heart is. Shit.

The chaos of fight swirls around Amber, and she thrives in it, letting her instincts guide the movement of her sword, stabbing, slashing, disarming. It’s comforting, oddly.

“Do not panic,” Suraj orders, and Anusha scowls.

“Easy for you to say, you’re on the other side of the computer, asshole.”

“Which means I know exactly how to get you out of there, which means that I’m in control here, which also means I won’t hesitate to give you a flubbed direction and accidentally lead you straight to Priya’s people.”

okay, going with suraj with this, because yes, he is one of my favourite characters, but he can get really hard to write sometimes.

it's a been while since i've written a character as deeply flawed as suraj, and one thing that makes it harder is that i relate to a lot of shit that he does and goes through [self projection, am i right?} you'd think this would make him EASIER to write, but noooo, i have to constantly toe the line between being a shit person and being a person working for a spy organisation that was born out of an intent to save the world. i ALSO have to make it clear that despite not being the villain of the story, he can possibly be considered the antagonist because he's constantly going against the protagonist, anusha, which gets difficult because i really fucking love him and i want to do him justice.

hmm, i don't think so? i just kind of have the main characters all set out and plotted and stuff already, and i don't really accidentally end up giving a character more importance than i wanted? akjdsdkjd

SO MANY. SO MANY. i've written so many found family scenes from elemental that do not fit ANYWHERE into the story, and there's this really desperate scene at the end of we'll make it to the ocean that i Long To Include but it doesn't fit in with the ending ://

so long. SO LONG. some for more than three years, some for less than three months shfsdkjjs

HA okay so for 20 seconds left, it's the mission impossible theme. i wanted to make it a classic spy story, but add twists of my own, with young, preteen, indian characters, targeted towards them. the mi theme is cheesy as hell and it fits the Spy Genre, and also i love the fucking series it's love of my whole entire life

god, yes!! at the end of wmitto, i planned a Lot More Deaths than originally occurred, but then i wrote a Scene, and i came up with the title, and then i went, 'wait...' and then everything Changed.

ooh okay, so, for 20sl, anusha's parents met at an archaeology dig, where her mom accidentally fell into the pit they were excavating, and she found anusha's dad there. it turned out he'd fallen in before her, and he was searching the site without his team, so no one could rescue him :/ BUT anusha's mom [deepa] and ayush [anusha's dad] end up excavating the pit as they're stuck in it and discover a couple of Cool Ceramics and nerd out over it and five years later they're married. :D

🍇: What sort of friend are they? Where are they in the group dynamic?

for shree, the friend who's like, hey, let's do this [chaotic, probably illegal] shit. she's like the type of friend to dive headfirst into danger because of the excitement it brings her.

🍒: Has Your OC had their first kiss yet? If so, with who?

for suraj, because i love him, yeah, he has!! it was with a guy in the corner of this restaurant [so, in india, most restaurants have this area where you can wash your hands with like fifty sinks [just kidding it's like two] and in some places, it's in this secluded corner that you have to do detective work to find. that's where he has his first kiss] and the guy was a mark he was supposed to talk with because his parents were involved in some Skeptical Shit. the Service needed a kid to play the role of the kid of the parents who were befriending the parents of the guy suraj kissed [that sounds. hard to follow. it's simple i promise] and suraj is that kid, and he and the guy [whose name is krish] get really close over the weeks the parents spend with each other and they're all at a restaurant together, and when suraj gets up to go wash his hands krish accidentally follows him to the handwash area and whoops, they're really close to each other, and oh, dear, they're kissing. yeah. it's an awkward 14 year old boy kiss btw.

me, violently: anusha could commit NO crime!!!! she is a Cinnamon Role!!! anusha: [breaks into a mall to steal the things suraj needs for his plan] [accidentally puts someone's head through a window] [gets her hands on a gun] [although, to her credit, she screams and throws it into the ocean almost immediately, so, uh, yay?] [waves a knife around at sonia & er henchmen]

HA. he's never had friends before. honestly. he's really rude and brushes off anyone who tries to be friends with him because he doesn't trust their intentions [his thoughts: why would they want to friend him? probably cause he's higher up, could get them advantages. hmph] and when anusha & shree come along, neither of them WANT to be friends with him and he doesn't want to be friends with them either. it's hilarious because they end up becoming the best of friends skjfhsdhs. he's the type of friend to roll eyes at the other's antics but joins in anyways because 'you'll need someone to bail you out of jail when this goes wrong'. he's the thinker, the planner of the group, and he and anusha regularly exchange glances when shree decides to do something batshit CRAZY. he's the Brother of the group btw.

🍎: Do they share any features or traits with any family members?

he looks like his mom actually. same wavy black hair, same eyes, same jaw & cheekbones. but uh, he doesn't know that because he was like, 3 when they died? left? idk yet

from elemental, they'd go to an mcr contest. i mean. they're all literally a group of rebel baby queers who want to save the world. everyone would wear normal emo black clothes, EXCEPT vita who would go, like, full on with a black leather jacket & jeans, a Really Tight shiny shirt, eyeliner & eyeshadow all around, and her hair would be up in a high pony. she'd look really good btw.

24. What OC would kill someone and what OC would help the other hide the body?

in order of most likely to kill someone: suraj, suraj, suraj, amber, gi, drea & jack. suraj would DEF kill someone and he wouldn't need any help to hide the body. he's got the Experience you see. amber also would probably kill someone and she & gi are like partners in crime so they'd help each other hide the body if the other killed someone. very grudgingly though. and with a lot of complaints like 'UGH why did you have to kill him NOW i was on a date' 'you killed that guy last week when i was getting laid, idiot' 'okay fair point' [i'll leave it to you to figure out who's saying what lmao :D]. drea & jack have been alone in the Shade World for long enough that yeah, they've killed Shades. and hey, here, there's no need to hide the body!! the simply reanimate after a while :) and you have to kill them again :)

fkhfjkdshs okay shree doesn't really like house parties?? she's a pretty big introvert and her idea of a fun friday night is chilling at home with some hot people on tv, sometimes hanging out with anusha in like a sleepover. but if she has to go a party, she'd bring anusha for SURE. they're tied together. you can't separate them. she'd bring hmm maybe some sweets like ladoos [her mom makes the best ladoos okay] or like some sprite & thumbs up. just classic party stuff

okay, so, hmm, iza & naomi have definitely arm wrestled a LOT. and they’re both pretty evenly matched so!! shree has definitely arm wrestled; but she hates people so she doesn’t do it a lot actually. BUT trust me you do not want to challenge her to an arm wrestling competition thing. you’d lose. OH and amber. she’s trashed every person that came her way with an arm wrestling contest except for this one time she was wrestling against aeras and lost because she was looking at vita again. lsdkjksjdjks.

listing out alex [wmitto], iza [tkqg], anusha [20sl], suraj [20sl] and amber!! [elemental]

alex: would save his friends over the world. he. he Becomes Aware of it.

iza: prideful. will never bow down, or stop fighting. this, ironically, also happens to be one of her best qualities. half aware of it.

anusha: timid. she's only truly Herself while acting, and she's afraid to step up and into the light. not aware.

suraj: thinks he's better than EVERYONE. so arrogant and also a selfish dick. he's majorly flawed also i love him. he is VERY aware of his flaws.

amber: will carry the weight of the world on her shoulders. very unaware of this. my baby girl <3

2. ooh, okay, five words: 'girl accidentally becomes a spy', alternatively, 'kids try stopping bomb explosion'.

3. 20 SECONDS LEFT. it's got the mission impossible theme song and also this fallout one and this other mi3 one AND this james bond one and also this final spy one. i have a tiny mission impossible obsession. and a tiny james bond one. i'm so sorry.

4. favourite part: getting to create characters and put them in situations and have them experience crazy things that make them grow as people. and also getting to work through your problems as you write and also writing things i love to read. least favourite part: the planning, + the little filling up bits where you have to transition between a scene and the next and you're just. blank. and also when you WANT to write but No Words.

5. for 20sl, because i am Attached, i made up this story ages ago, and it was based off this one scene i really wanted to write with cool spy gadgets. as a kid i was OBSESSED with cool spy gadgets. i wanted to fly, but i couldn't, so i made my characters fly instead. anyways, the books i grew up reading didn't really have any indian protagonists. i have one [1] book in my collection with an indian cast, and i wanted to write something for myself, something 12 year old me needed, something cheesy and silly and something kids in india could read and love. and yeah, the idea of gadgets and spies was adjusted a little and BOOM! i just want to tell the story of a Normal 12 Year Old Schoolgirl who now has to save the world.

6. transition scenes. i don't even know why. i jsut. find them difficult. also, action scenes, if i'm not Feeling The Mood.

7. alex and amber!! i project onto them so much hhh and also i find writing the pov character in true colours really easy and comfortable as well!!
