fuck it friday (just a little late)
Tagged by the fantastic @dear-massacre. This is a little bit I wrote today on the next chapter of a time to mourn and a time to hope. I finished the rough draft!
~
Peter fucks up into him harder. His eyes flash red and Derek can feel his claws pricking against his skin. Peter shifts his hold, coiling his body like he’s going to change their position. Derek decides he’s not interested in being moved. He grabs Peter’s wrists, letting his own eyes bleed red as he drags Peter’s hands away from him.
Right now, they’re both alphas—their strength equal. Derek hadn’t set out to make Peter prove he’s actually willing to submit to him, but suddenly that feels hugely important.
Peter never breaks eye contact, but he allows himself to be moved. He allows Derek to pin his hands by his shoulders. Their movement is suspended for a long moment be fore Derek begins moving again—before they both begin moving.
Derek rides Peter as Peter fucks up into him and the room practically rings with the sound of their moans and pants and the slap of their flesh meeting.
“Derek, I—I need to—” Peter gasps.
“Yeah, c’mon. Knot me,” Derek answers, barely able to find the breath.

ENDGAME BIG SPOILERS
Complete synopsis of the entire film below the cut.
If you want spoilers but not the whole shebang, scroll down to my other Spoiler post.
Why post this? Because some people want to know, either before they go, or instead of going, or to decide whether to or not.
Look, if you don’t want to know, then use the tag filter. In case you didn’t set it up, then I’ve put in the ‘keep reading’ cut. So you should be covered. So please, no more anon hate! (Haters are so brave when they go anon!)
PLEASE NOTE THIS IS NOT MY SYNOPSIS. I HAVE NOT SEEN THE FILM (and won’t) THIS IS FROM A REDDIT USER. BECAUSE LOTS OF SPOILERS OVER THERE ARE BEING TAKEN DOWN, I DECIDED TO CUT AND PASTE IT RATHER THAN JUST GIVE A LINK.
People who HAVE seen the film have been adding comments to this post on Reddit, saying it is ‘correct’, or ‘basically correct’.

First Scene is actually Hawkeye losing his family to the snap. He doesn’t actually see it happen as he is facing the other direction. We then get the Tony/Nebula sequence (paper football, etc). Tony records his message to Pepper. When he falls asleep, Nebula takes him to the front of the ship and sits him in the pilots seat. He wakes up and sees something glowing outside the window. Captain Marvel helps them return to Earth. Pepper, Rocket, Steve and Rhodey all come out to greet him. Tony is very shaken, particularly about losing Peter.
Movie starts with the Avengers trying to find Thanos. Steve wasn’t to know where Thanos is and asks Tony, but Tony says he doesn’t know, They argue. Nebula knows of Thanos’ garden he said he would once go to when he completed his goal. They found him because of the energy he released using the gauntlet. Thanos is alone, and tells them he used the gauntlet to destroy the gems. He is weak and Thor, angry, decapitates him.
Title Card and five years later.
Natasha is now basically in charge of what's left of the Avengers is talking to them via holograms. Basically the world is in ruins and they're trying to salvage it. Carol is there via hologram with a new haircut and uniform and tells them that she's covering thousands of planets and won't be able to come back to Earth for a "long time".
Steve and Nat talk about how the Avengers are family. Inside a storage shed is Luis’s van. A rat is crawling over the Quantum controls and activated the switch which brings Scott out. He’s now locked inside the cage but starts waving at the security cameras. A guard lets him out and he is walking the streets confused as to why everything is so overgrown and run down. He finds a memorial which lists the names of the ‘missing’ on large stones. He starts reading them panicking that Cassie might be listed on them. But she isn’t. He sees her at home, as an older version of herself. Scott drives to the Avengers facility and Nat and Steve let him in and he tells them about the Quantum realm and how they might be able to build a time machine to go back to the past before everything happened. They visit Tony, but he doesn’t want to help. He’s happy with the way that his life is, with Pepper and his daughter Morgan. They leave and to visit Bruce who is now Professor Hulk.
The plan becomes to start looking for the gems in the past. Initially Banner builds quantum time machine and sends Scott back to test but it is faulty, Tony refuses to help at this point, however, he returns Caps shield and they make up. He tweaks Banners Quantum Machine, The catch is that they need quantum particles for it to work.
Natasha goes to Japan to get Clint. He is mourning his family and is not certain of the plan. Rocket and Hulk go to get Thor who is drinking and playing video games with Korg and Meik. (Funny joke involving an online video game troll)
Finally the team then all suit up and discuss their plans to get the stones. They make it clear that they can not mess up because there is only enough Quantum particles for one trip for each of them.
Tony, Scott, Steve and Bruce go to the Battle of New York. Hulk meets the Ancient One at Dr Stranger's future home. Ancient One refuses to give the Time Stone to Bruce but relents when Bruce tells her that Dr Strange will give the stone to Thanos.
Cap, Iron Man and Scott tries to retrieve the Tessaract after Loki surrenders. SHIELD/Hydra agents Crossbones and that bald guy with glasses in Winter Soldier retrieve the brief case containing the Tessaract. Past Hulk funnily has to walk down lots of flights of stairs as he can't go on lift due to maximum capacity. Cap meets with Crossbones with the briefcase in elevator along with other Hydra agents. He convinces them to give him the briefcase containing the staff when he utters two words: Hail Hydra. Cap gets the briefcase. Tony in disguise as a SWAT soldier tells Scott to disable his past self's chest reactor to give him a minor seizure while his past self meets up with Alexander Pierce who demands the Mind Stone and Loki. Present Tony retrieves the briefcase but past Hulk accidentally knocks out Tony and Loki uses the confusion to teleport out with the Tessaract. Present Cap accidentally meets with his 2012 self, and 2012 self thinks he's Loki in disguise. They fought and 2012 has present self in chokehold when he tells his past self that Bucky is alive. He then taps his past self with staff to knock him out.
In Asgard, fat Thor and Rocket plans to retrieve the Aether out of Jane Foster's body. Thor's mother meets his 'son' and know he's from the future. Rocket retrieves the aether out of Jane by prodding her off screen and gets chased by guards. Before Thor leaves, he retrieves Mjolnir!
On Morag, War Machine and Nebula stays on Morag while Clint and Nat goes to Voromir via a ship that Rocket miniatures for Clint. Unknown to Nebula, her past self's nervous system and databanks are connected to each other and Thanos finds out where the stones are and how he meets his fate.
Cap and Tony transport back to 1970 at the SHIELD training site seen in Winter Soldier and goes underground to retrieve that era's Tessaract. Tony retrieves the Tesseract while meeting his dad. He calls himself Howard Potts. Cap makes a prank call to young Hank Pym and sneaks into his office to steal 4 vials of Pym Particles. Cap also sees Peggy. Cap and Tony teleport back to present.
WM and Nebula knocks out Quill during his dance in intro of GOTG. They got the stone and WM and Nebula was meant to teleport together but WM only succeeded. Present Nebula and past Nebula meets and fights and past Nebula takes her place to go back to present.
On Voromir, Clint and May meets the Red Skull as seen in Infinity War and is told how to retrieve the stone. Clint and Nat fought each other. Clint jumped off cliff but Nat catches him and held on by grappling rope. She falls off and dies like Gamora. Clint now has the Stone.
All members went back to present and everyone is devastated by Nat's death. Tony and Bruce constructs the Infinity Gauntlet and Thor wants to wield it but Hulk goes instead as he's the strongest one and the stones emit gamma radiation according to him. He wields it and snaps his fingers restoring all life lost. Clint's wife calls him on mobile. Hulk suffers extreme pain in his right arm due to IG. Past Nebula activates the Quantum teleporter and summons Thanos' warship and blasts the Avengers HQ to ruins with missiles.
Hulk lifting up rubble similar to Secret Wars cover where he lifts up a whole mountain except this is less in film lol.
Clint finds the gauntlet and is being chased by Outriders creatures in last film. He kills them and is met by past Nebula. Gamora and present Nebula meets up and Nebula kills her past self.
Cap, Tony and Thor teams up against Thanos. Thor is losing against Thanos even though he has Stormbreaker and Mjolnir. Thanos is about to kill Thor with SB when:
Cap lifts up Mjolnir and beats Thanos with hammer and shield.
Thanos uses his double blade weapon to break Cap's shield in half.
Thanos summons his whole army including the Black Order and some new creatures. Cap is all by himself against a whole army.
He hears Sam's voice and he turns around and see EVERYONE who has vanished PLUS huge armies of Wakandans, sorcerers and Asgardians (no signs of Warrior Three). Wong, Valkyrie, Wasp and Pepper Potts as Rescue turns up as well. Ant Man becomes Giant Man.
Clint plays American Football with IG and passes it to Black Panther then Spidey. Quill meets past Gamora and gets hit in the balls, not believing he is the one she loves lol. Scarlet Witch overpowers Thanos but Thanos orders missiles to hit everyone including his forces. Captain Marvel shows up to destroy Thanos' flagship and gets the IG and dashes towards the goal. There is a bit where Hope and Scott goes to the van with the Quantum teleporter in the middle of battlefield. Was lost in the moment so forgot why they doing that, sorry.
All female Marvel characters fight Thanos. Spidey's armoured suit goes autokill mode with the extra arms.
Thanos tries to take the gauntlet off Marvel by headbutting her but didn't phase her.
Thanos retrieves the gauntlet away from Stark and he snaps his fingers. Nothing happened. The stones went to Stark and before he snaps his fingers, he says 'I'm Iron Man'.
White flash of light.
All of Thanos' forces turn to dust including Thanos himself.
Tony dies from using the gauntlet. Everyone mourns.
The battle is won but at a cost.
Holographic Tony gives a message to everyone present including his daughter.
A wreath with Tony's chest reactor is laid to rest at the lake near Tony's hut.
Everyone is present including GOTG, Peter, Maria, Ross, Nick and Hank and Janet.
Thor, still fat designates Valkyrie as Queen of New Asgard in Tonnsberg. Thor is now travelling with GOTG to find Gamora and maybe more Asgardians. Quill and Thor are about to fight for leadership lol.
Scott, Cassie and Hope are together again. Wakanda is back with his King.
Cap goes on a mission to put back the stones and Mjolnir to their proper places. Hulk says to Sam and Buck that he should be back in 5 secs. He didn't. Sam sees a old man at a bench and it's Old Man Steve (who looks like Clint Eastwood now but less wrinkles and bit younger than he is lol). Steve has wedding ring and passes his shield to Sam. Sam is honoured.
Ending shows young Cap dancing with Peggy at their house. That's it.
Credits music is set to 1930s music then shows all cast members. The main cast is shown with their signatures on it.
There is NO post credit scenes which is a first for a MCU.
Stan Lee cameo is set in 1970s where he is shown in his 70s younger self driving a car with a woman, driving past a army base where Cap and Tony retrieves the Tesseract there.

One hand (and assuming ppl have sources...I haven't bothered to look b/c tbh it's so likely that I'd be surprised if it wasn't true): of course it's disappointing.   Otoh: Mark Calaway is a 52 year old rich athletic straight cis white man from fucking Texas, what the hell were you expecting?  Anybody who was honestly just ~believing~ he didn't vote for Trump would’ve had to do some pretty outstanding mental gymnastics to arrive at that conclusion.  Ditto HBK...I just sort of assume, y’know?  Like the dude’s a born again christian who hunts for sport, there’s really only one way that’s gonna shake out.  I get hoping, but just assuming...lol.  It was once upon a time assumed in what passed for a fandom circle at the time that Glenn Jacobs was a Jewish democrat for some reason lol... & of course he then turned out a fucking...libertarian tea party republican nutjob.  The more you know.
I guess it’s sort of easier to disconnect their personas from themselves, moreso than people who aren’t really playing fantastical characters.  Plus it’s been like...27 years...I stanned first for ‘Taker as a child and Kane as a v. isolated teenager, and back then it was a lot trickier to glean info about them as people, so we didn’t!  Though honestly, I always preferred to think of them specifically as characters in a way that doesn’t really ring true w/ anyone else.  Probably it’s that ‘Taker’s persona being sort of disconnected from him extended to Kane, whose existence hinged on his brother.  They were a story.  Of course they were a story that slowly by degrees got retconned and destroyed entirely...like I’ve agreed w/ very little that happened since literally early 1999 but...
*hums*  Is this...mmm.  I’m not defending myself as a fan? or saying I’m alright with it...because hoo boy I’m not alright with it.  I’m not even sure fan is the right term anymore tbh, if it was ever?
It’s just been so long and now we’re so near the close, you know?  Both the idea and the physical manifestation of ‘Taker is just about out of gas regardless, and Kane’s been basically dead to me since they unmasked him and made him a rapist, actively engaging w/ their narratives is sort of water long under the bridge.  My fondness for them probably turned mostly to nostalgia years ago and was never really for them so much as for their formative influence.  If that makes sense.  Are there other examples of this??  I’m trying to think of one.  ‘Taker’s such an outlier in his longevity.  Maybe Liger-san is comparable, in a way.  Raven in that his character was very clever-sounding and he himself is just...sorry boss...kind of a moron lol.
...I’m certainly glad it didn’t come out sooner because I’d be a hell of a lot more upset about it like, circa 1998-2003 or 2005 or something.  I’d have been devastated...I mean I know this particular political shitshow wasn’t a thing back then but, I’d know someone supporting a bigot rapist for what they were.  And then, it would have been crushing.  You don’t even....ah.  Like I say fan isn’t the term because like...believer is a better fit for what it was.  The idea of him is completely independent for me of the man, and always has been...that ‘Spirit of the Undertaker’ stuff that used to be such a part of the legend.  I felt that very much.  I don’t have a religion but once upon a time, I had the Deadman.
But that was a long time ago, and now it’s just...there’s not really anything there to deal a blow, yunno?   Maybe eventually it’ll catch on a nerve and I’ll mourn the loss a bit...but right now...I’m reacting like was gone already.  For me he was!  I couldn’t even watch the last WM match, but I cried when I saw That Moment.  Sitting there watching their stupid wrestlemania recap video during the commercial break at Raw.  I cried both nights actually lol.  I already said my goodbyes.  I guess that’s why I had such a non-reaction on Monday, emotionally...apart from losing my shit over the familiarity of the setting and set dressings.
Tl:dr, it’s disappointing but it ain’t surprising so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Where I Work: David Stark
It’s been exactly a decade since we checked in with David Stark, a New York-based event producer, designer, author, and President + Creative Director of his eponymous, full-service event design and planning firm, David Stark Design and Production. Founded in 2006, the company has become a go-to expert for fully immersive experiences providing their innovative expertise to the likes of Target, Kiehl’s, Uniqlo, non-profit The Robin Hood Foundation, The Whitney Museum of Modern Art, and The Metropolitan Opera, in addition to a range of one-of-a-kind events for a host of celebrities. He’s also collaborated with West Elm on several collections, done a “store ambush” of Haus Interior in NYC for his WOOD SHOP collection, and a limited edition collection of unique art pieces made exclusively for Bergdorf Goodman. For this month’s Where I Work, we visit the busy mogul in his company’s Industry City headquarters in Brooklyn to see where he works and how he makes it all happen.
What’s your studio/work environment like?
Our office, where we design and mastermind events is a large, light-flooded loft that overlooks a great view of the Statue of Liberty in Brooklyn’s Industry City. It’s comfortable with many conference rooms, a kitchen where the team regularly makes all kinds of yummy, home-cooked meals, a design library that houses material samples and reference books, and an open office plan, encouraging the collaborative process. We also have an area that we use as a photo studio and crafting areas where we experiment regularly. While not fastidious in an overly fussy way, the office has a quiet intensity that wonderfully exudes rapt concentration and innovative thinking.
Wood shop
Paint room
Our studio, where we build the things we design, is a few blocks away. There are buzzing wood and paint shops, crafting areas, and a floral studio with a giant floral fridge. We also have an adjacent warehouse that houses a wonderful history of items we have purchased or built over the years that we regularly transform or reutilize. Trucks pull right up to the dock, and we load straight out of roll-up garage doors. The studio is a wonderland of art-making where anything is possible. The talented and passionate team there trumpet such optimism while continuously pushing out work that is innovative and of the highest quality.
How is your space organized/arranged?
I do have a personal office with a door as well as a glass wall facing into the communal team workspace. There are a few other individual offices like that including the ones for our fabulous administrative and finance teams, but the rest of the gang works in the open plan area. The truth is that I am actually in my office proper very little. I meet with the teams daily in our design library for what we call Office Hours. During Office Hours, the teams present the projects that we are working on for feedback, we kick-off new projects, and we discuss issues related to the events we are producing. Because our projects are incredibly collaborative, it’s more common that we use our conference rooms for big, group work sessions or meetings. We use my office in this way too. I have a giant table in the center of it in which the teams will join me for conference calls with clients or group discussions.
How long have you been in this space? Where did you work before that?
We have been in our home in Industry City for about four years. We have what now feels like a very “adult office” and a much more advanced studio than we had prior. These spaces were designed and planned to be efficient and to meet the needs of our growing organization which is very different than the original spaces we were in for about 20 years prior, held together by tape, hope, and a whole lot of love and ingenuity.
You know, our previous offices and studio were first my home and painting studio/loft when I was a fine artist. I and a former partner lived there, and when our business started to grow, and when we added staff, we simply got rid of the sofa, for example, to make way for a desk. There was no planning at all, and as our business grew organically, so did the way we used (or abused!) our limited space. We were more than overdue a new home for the scale of what our company had grown into. I mean, I remember waiting in line to use the one, single stall bathroom we had in the old, two-floor office with my legs crossed in angst and anticipation. It was time to move!
If you could change something about your workspace, what would it be?
You know, there is very little I would change, to be honest – I truly LOVE it, and I can barely remember life before our current home. Our studio and office feel so, so natural and so “us.”
Is there an office pet?
There is not.
Do you require music in the background? If so, who are some favorites?
At the office, we don’t have music playing, but it is not uncommon for our team to be listening to their own tunes on their headphones while they work.
At the studio, there is music of all kinds on at all times. The gang takes turns playing their favorite mixes. For a while, Buena Vista Social Club was on a constant rotation, but sometimes I walk in and am surprised (as well as delighted) to hear classical music playing in the wood shop!
How do you record ideas?
I have a series of pads all over the house, in my office, and in the bag that I carry around with me. They are mostly nothing fancy, usually simple, blue-lined legal pads, but at home, I like the thick blocks of white paper with silver painted edges by WMS & Co. It feels really luxurious to write on those blocks, especially with a mechanical pencil. One of our wonderful designers, Daria Semenova has taught me the joys of the mechanical pencil – she’s got a whole array of them that I am envious over. I finally got one for my home, but I don’t carry it around with me because I would lose it in an instant.
My best ideas come while I am in the shower shaving. I often have to take a break to quickly write them on a pad close by in the bathroom, jumping right back, under the water to finish after. If I don’t do that, I forget the thoughts by the time I am done with the shower. I mourn the many forgotten ideas that I imagined I would remember but did not.
Do you have an inspiration board? What’s on it right now?
I used to keep traditional, black-hardbound sketchbooks where I would draw or paste in clippings or other inspirations, but I have not done that in years. Now, we typically keep track of inspiration digitally, either with Pinterest or mood boards that our team creates in InDesign.
On occasion, though, we make physical boards that are particular to a project. For example, we are currently collaborating on a new tabletop book with designer and co-author Jane Schulak and photographer Aaron Delesie. There is so much content that we need to examine simultaneously that it was natural to go old-school and create pin-up boards that allow us to see all the materials in one place.
What is your typical work style?
I am personally quite disciplined. I get up every day (Monday through Friday) somewhere between 4:00 and 5:00am. I am freshest between then and 7:00am, before the world wakes up and before I am pulled in a thousand directions. I wouldn’t say it’s easy for me to get out of bed, though. When that alarm goes off at 4:15, it’s painful, but I love the focus that I have in those early hours and being that creatively fresh overcomes the temptation to stay in bed. At 7:00am, I go to the gym to take care of my body and my mind, and then I am off and running to the office, to outside meetings, and events into the evening.
My days are very, very scheduled, generally back-to-back, and the rigor can be intense. It’s a combination of inner office meetings with the team as well as meetings with clients and potential clients outside of the office, and then there are installation and event days/nights on top of that. It’s a marathon, for sure, but I thrive on it. I suppose I have built pretty good stamina up over the years.
But because there is an intensity to the work I do, it was very important for me, when designing and conceiving of our offices, that a sense of serenity and calm were as considered as how our spaces function for the work we do.
What is your creative process and/or creative workflow like? Does it change every project or do you keep it the same?
We strategically keep our creative process similar from project to project. Because we have a large team, with multiple people collaborating on each project, it’s most productive to have systems in place, so that we’re all working towards the same milestones. We start off with a team kick-off where we share the goals of our clients. It is super important to establish from the outset what we want/need to achieve, and then we outline the plan of attack as to how we are going to achieve it. We ask ourselves: What are the presentation methods we are all agreeing upon? What is the timeline? What is the budget? How do we build-in the right check-ins along the way? This stuff sounds boring, but the structure is critical to successful workflow.
What kind of art/design/objects might you have scattered about the space?
We have a collection of sculptures of old-school phones we have recently started. One, my husband (performer and artist) Migguel Anggelo made out of matches. A few others are from past projects, and a tiny one I picked up at the Brooklyn Flea. It’s what the old telephone door-to-door salesman used to bring to “sell” the concept of a rotary phone. I love them.
We also have our light-up building number, “87” from our old digs. It’s a fun reminder of where we came from. We even took the door from our old design studio. These relics are meaningful to me. They chart our journey.
Sculptures in the process of being covered with sand
Are there tools and/or machinery in your space?
We have quite an extensive wood shop, paint room, and floral production area, so we have all the tools-of-the-trade for those pursuits. The team is particularly pumped about our new quiet air compressor! We’ve also recently started using a Hopper gun which allows us to finish off our builds with various textures: sand, plaster, glitter, and more.
What tool(s) do you most enjoy using in the design process?
It’s not a “tool” in the traditional sense but . . . I most enjoy the collaborative nature of working with a team. The old adage of Together Everyone Accomplishes More, is so true, and it’s one of the reasons why I transitioned from fine art to design. I started off as a painter which was a very solo endeavor, but I much prefer working within a thriving community of doers, and that collaboration has become an integral part of my design process!
Let’s talk about how you’re wired. Tell us about your tech arsenal/devices.
I typically have my laptop, iPad, and iPhone all going at the same time. I review designs presented to me by the various teams on my iPad, while I type them feedback on my laptop.
What design software do you use, if any, and for what?
Because our team includes technical designers that come from all kinds of architectural, stage, and industrial design backgrounds as well as graphic designers, and 3D designers, we intermingle a lot of software platforms that include: Sketchup, Vectorworks, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), and a whole bunch of image search engines.
David’s desk
What’s on your desk right now?
My desk is covered with stacks of books, folders with notes for our current projects, a sculpture of the Carnegie Hall building which is also a lantern. We made 70 of them as centerpieces for their gala a few years back, and I kept one!
Robin Hood to the Power of You event
Robin Hood to the Power of You event
Is there a favorite project/piece you’ve worked on?
It’s very difficult for me to cite a favorite project as they are all so meaningful to me. I am proud, though, of the long collaboration we have had with the Robin Hood Foundation, designing their big benefit at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center for so, so many years. It’s probably one of the largest projects that we work on and includes a seated dinner for about 4,500 people with another 2,000 joining for an after-party concert. It’s a giant team sport where we partner with a cast of truly inspiring, talented folks to pull off what is ultimately one of the most successful and moving fundraisers to fight poverty in NYC – or anywhere, for that matter.
Last year’s theme was Robin Hood to the Power of You. Our transformation included installations relating to math, measurement, calculations, education, and teamwork in general. Guests entered through a grand corridor of backpacks filled with school supplies that created vivid stripes on the walls. After the event, the backpacks were donated to over 7,000 New York City school kids. I loved telling an education story with materials that are meaningful and have a life after the event, so that there’s no waste.
Tell us about a current project you’re working on. What was the inspiration behind it?
We are currently designing and planning the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s 150th Anniversary Gala. This is another institution near and dear to our hearts, and we have just begun to dive into the research. We love nothing more than exploring an institution’s archives to find that perfect, conceptual idea to base the whole night upon! It’s a truly exciting milestone to be part of!
Do you have anything in your home that you’ve designed/created?
Yes! I have many, many things in my home that I have designed or created, for sure, and probably too many to name in their entirety. Here are three examples:
• Upon entering my apartment there is a piece of artwork that is hanging above an entry table. It’s essentially a chalk drawing that has been sealed, but it was actually cut down from a giant set piece that was created for a benefit we designed for the Robin Hood Foundation many years ago. For this event, we rendered New York City as a giant, dimensional chalk drawing so that the guests could, as a metaphor, redraw the city as we know it, erasing poverty in the process. The remaining piece that I kept as a keep-sake is somewhat abstract, but you can make out some figures walking across a series of horizontal lines. Before the piece was cut down, it depicted the New York Public Library, with horizontal lines as the grand staircase leading from the street to the Library. A fabulous artist named Dave Singley did the drawing. He has been a central part of studio team at David Stark Design for many years as well.
• In our kitchen, a basket woven “bull’s head” presides over the central island proudly. Years ago, when I was designing a collaborative collection with West Elm, this was a sample for a product within a Picasso inspired collection. West Elm did not move our bull into production, but I kept the sample and love it as much today as I did when we first viewed it.
• I also have a set of plates that I designed for Culture Lab Detroit in collaboration with Pewabic Pottery, Detroit’s iconic ceramics house. I love these and take good care of them, because it’s impossible to replace ones that break!

For WIP Wednesday - a time to mourn and a time to hope!!!
So sorry you had to wait so long! (a time to mourn and a time to hope on ao3)
~
Derek couldn’t have stopped the laugh that bubbled out of him if he’d tried. Peter’s laugh was more quiet, but relieved. They hadn’t thought they would have this again. Even when they made their plans and started the ritual to bring Stiles back, neither of them had been completely certain it would work. Not that they’d said that aloud. They hadn’t needed to.

🎃👻 trick or treat? 👻🎃
I still have a few chapters to go on a time to mourn and a time to hope, but I have written some of the last chapter. Here’s a snippet after Stiles is resurrected. Thanks for the ask!
~
“I’m just saying, I’d prefer to keep our death toll at two. No need to risk our current 100% resurrection statistic.”
Peter snorts and Stiles beams, like that’s all he wanted. Derek can’t help but laugh. The sound startles him. It still seems impossible that they actually got Stiles back from the dead, but somehow less so when Stiles is being ridiculous.
Peter’s face gets this look that says maybe he also found the sound of Derek laughing startling. They’d eventually reconnected when Peter revealed his plan to resurrect Stiles. They’d been intimate, completed their bond, planned together, but now that Derek thinks about it, they hadn’t laughed together. Derek had been so focused on being with Peter again and how right it felt that he hadn’t noticed that they were still missing joy.
“OK, you two definitely need to tell me what went on while I was dead,” Stiles says, breaking them out of their staring. “I’m getting the feeling you didn’t draw together and bond over your shared grief. First, though, I need clothes and food. The afterlife was mostly nebulous and it was distinctly lacking curly fries.”
“I can assure you I felt the lack of many things when I was dead, but curly fries were not on that list,” Peter says with a disdainful look.
“Yeah, but you were crazy when you died. I was just relieved exams were over,” Stiles answers blithely.

WIP Wednesday
@dear-massacre tagged me for this. It’s not new, but I thought I’d share the beginning of the next chapter of a time to mourn and a time to hope. Takes place immediately after bonding sexy times. I think I might focus on finishing this first during NaNoWriMo.
~
When Derek and Peter eventually drag themselves out of bed, it’s to find congratulatory texts on their phone. Mostly.
Jackson’s text is to both of them and simply says ‘I better not be able to feel it every time you fuck don’t make me go back to London’. It makes Peter laugh and send him a taunting reply. Derek can’t get past the implication that Jackson isn’t planning to go back. He knows they’re pack, truly pack in a way they haven’t been before, but he had assumed they would be long distance.
Lydia’s text is simple and congratulatory. When Derek texts back his thanks she replies that they are going to have a pack meeting at her mother’s house because she doesn’t trust them to air out the loft sufficiently by that evening. It seems Cora had told her the scent and pheromones after two people bond are especially strong. Derek takes a deep breath, and has to admit she has a point. Even if it wouldn’t bother the other wolves, he doubts he would be able to concentrate.
Cora’s text tells them to drink water and ‘for the love of all that’s holy shower before you leave’.
Derek and Peter don’t do anything but fuck until it’s time to shower and leave. They end up having to shower separately because they can’t keep their hands off each other when they try to do it together. Naturally, this makes them late. When Jackson brings it up, Peter points out that technically, they were late because they stopped fucking. At least he looks apologetic when the sheriff groans and facepalms, looking more like his son than ever.
Everyone chats for a few minutes, until Lydia says, “Peter, are you ready to tell everyone about the ritual?”
“I think we can tell them together, my dear,” he answers with a smarmy smile.
Lydia rolls her eyes, but says, “Very well.”
She waits until she has everyone’s attention, before detailing the ritual. On the surface it sounds too simple a spell to resurrect a person, but Derek has been around enough magic to know how deceptive it can be. When Lydia pulls out a notebook and begins listing the ingredients needed for a potion he and Peter will need to drink, the simplicity of the ritual itself makes more sense.
“I assume we need Stiles’ body, too,” the sheriff says. “It will take some doing, but I should be able to help with that.”
“Fortunately, that will not be necessary,” Peter says. “One of the few things this spell does not require is the deceased’s original body.”
“Stiles isn’t going to wake up buried alive or something, is he?”
Jackson sounds suitably horrified at the thought. Before Derek can do more than wince, Lydia is shaking her head.
“The spell will create a new body for him. It will be identical to the one he previously had, although it isn’t clear if he will retain any scars he had. He will appear at the nemeton when the ritual is complete.”
Derek groans. “Why is it always the nemeton?”
“Because it’s the focal point of the Beacon Hills hellmouth,” Cora says sarcastically.
“Because it’s a beacon of magic and therefore the best place for conducting rituals,” Peter says in a voice that makes it clear he’s judging both Derek and Cora.
It makes Derek want to bite him. He doesn’t realize how far he’s gone down that mental tangent until Cora elbows him in the ribs. She gives him a dirty look.
“Stop thinking about whatever is making you smell that way. It’s disgusting.”
“I don’t mind,” Peter says.
“That’s because you’re also disgusting,” Cora answers.

Seven Sentence Sunday
Didn’t get tagged on this, but it looked fun. Seven sentences from the next chapter of a time to mourn and a time to hope.
~
“You like that,” Peter breathes.
Derek thinks he was trying to sound smug. Instead he sounds surprised, awe tingeing his voice.
“Not enough to let you stay an alpha,” he says, just in case Peter is getting ideas.
Derek knows his uncle. Even though he got the power specifically so they could bring Stiles back and will be sacrificing it for the same reason, giving up that much power won’t come easily to Peter.
“I told you,” Peter says. “You’re still my alpha.”
~
Not tagging anyone since it’s late, but I’d love to see it if anyone else does it.

a time to mourn and a time to hope ch. 4 - teen wolf
On AO3

The pack discusses the ritual they’ll use to resurrect Stiles, then there’s smut.

We Dream Like Fen for WIP Wednesday and 6 for a number!
Have a little bit of a time to mourn and a time to hope.
~
Peter nips at his lips before he kisses him, sweeping him into pleasure. Derek hates how much time together they missed out on because he was so lost in grief that he distanced himself from everyone, including his remaining mate.
“None of that,” Peter says, biting his lip hard enough to draw blood. “Wait until we have Stiles back for recriminations. You know he’s going to absolutely delight in yelling at us when he finds out.”
“I never thought I would look forward to him angrily ranting at me,” Derek says with a laugh.

For the wip wednesday game I’d like to pick small fandoms big bang
Can’t share what I wrote for that so you get a paragraph from a time to mourn and a time to hope instead.
~
Derek barely lets Peter work three fingers into his hole before he reaches back and tugs his hand away. Normally he’d let him prep him longer before knotting, but today he wants to feel the stretch and burn. He wants this to be rough. He’s still going to ride Peter, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t want to be overwhelmed. They’re in a dance where the intertwining steps are all about dominance and trust. He’s already overwhelmed in the best way.
