A daily reminder that our transit is not anywhere near “the most accessible in the nation” (or if it is— Yikes), and it desperately needs to improve

Pylon for the Fallen

A memorial in Metro Center station for WMATA employees who have been killed while working. The Pylon carries 26 names. Unlike typical station pylons, the memorial pylon is made of black, polished granite and the band at the top where line colors are typically displayed is simply white.

so there was some needed (albeit inconvenient) maintenance on the metro this weekend that required WMATA to close two stops in the middle of the system during service hours. this created some new, temporary terminus stations for the affected lines during the closure... and, long story short, this was the result:

Normally quick witted with the sass and comebacks, RJ doesn't say a word while navigating the Capital metro, let alone look anyone in the eye.

It's a wonderful honour to have walked through these stations as a Fallout fan of over a decade. I played F3 at 18 and now I get to move to the area at 29. Life is funny!

Last night I dreamed that through the magic of WMATA, I could take the metro from Washington, DC to Los Angeles in an hour. I get to my friend's party only to realize I had not booked a flight home (WMATA magic only goes in one direction). So I get on my phone to search for flights but my fingers are too fat for the tiny keyboard and auto correct keeps changing my search terms and when I finally get results, it takes me to the bottom of the list and I have to scroll all the way to the top.
