Here is why You should ship Vigilance x Diamond (Diamance)
(art by @aeg3an + permission to use)
Tumblr media
1. Toxic Yuri
These two are at war with each other so naturally they hate each other but both are drawn to each other since they both know the stresses of being a queen. This is what drew them together plus the begrudging respect on how both of them are able to one up each other in war. When one side gains the upper hand the other comes up with a strategy to turn the tides back in their favor. This builds respect but also anger and resentment since they are losing dragons.
2. The Drama
Since they are at war with each other how will they grapple with the fact they have feelings for their enemy? They would have to keep their feelings a secret between them or else a massive Royal scandal will occur. They will kill any dragon including advisors if they even think they are starting to grow suspicious. So they send letters mad at the loss of advisors or dragons fallen in war and how their army will reach their kingdom and tear it down but beneath the anger is a sense of longing and how they will be the one to deal the final blow to other and how the winner will hold the loser and look them in the eyes as the life fades form their eyes.
3. How will it end?
How will they end up? Will one finally manage to kill the other leaving nothing behind a feeling of triumph overshadowed by loss and longing? Will they both kill each other in battle with both of them finally being able to embrace each other as their lives come to an end? Will it be an enemies to lovers story to do what Arctic and Foeslayer couldn't? Or will it end like it did in canon the Nighwings leaving and both Queens feeling and immense longing and rage at the fact they weren't able to finish the job? Idk and honestly that is up to you to explore.
In conclusion
The sheer amount of potential this ship has is massive in the ways how the characters will react to their feelings, how they express them or if they try to hide it how their facade falters, and how their story will end. The possibilities and scenarios these ships have is immense and it's why you should ship Diamond x Vigilance.

Unsorted WOF thoughts part 75:
This took some thinking, but it checks out.
Snowflake and Snowfox fell in love.
Arctic was taken out of the picture, leaving Snowfox as the only heir.
Snowflake and Snowfox can't have biological children, and Snowfox wasn't an animus, so she couldn't have just created a child out of nothing like Jerboa did.
Diamond could have had other children, but I think Snowfox would've challenged her for the throne before she had the chance.
The only possible way that Snowfox and Snowflake could have had children was through adoption.
The entire reason the IceWings hate the NightWings is because they stole Arctic, an animus, from them, and they didn't have any more animus dragons ever again.
Diamond was also an animus, so if she had another child, that child would've passed on the animus gene.
If Snowfox had a biological child with someone else, that would've passed on the animus gene as well.
No more animus dragons in the IceWing royal family = Neither Diamond nor Snowfox had a biological child that could pass it on.
Snowfox being a big fat lesbian is the entire reason there are no more IceWing animus dragons left.
Conclusion: For the past 2,000 years, none of the members of the IceWing royal family have been direct descendants of the original royal family because Snowfox and Snowflake adopted. And that's the same reason why there haven't been any other animus dragons in the IceWing tribe.

[Image description: A digital drawing of Queen Diamond from the book series wings of fire on a light blue background. She is drawn from the shoulders up, facing towards the left with a grim expression on her face. Diamond has long and pointy horns, they start out white and have a blue tint near the end of them. Her scales are a similar light blue, nearly white and slowly fade into a deeper shade of blue. She is wearing a silver crown, it’s studded with multiple diamonds. End of image description]
Queen Diamond of the Icewings. Or what I like to call her, the spiteful old hag :D
I nearly forgot to post this here

IceWing Royals Plothole (and my solution.)
This plothole happens just before DarkStalker’s time. How did the NightWings steal Animus Magic? Isn’t it genetic? Snowfox could pass it on?! Here’s what I think:
At one point, when she was a young dragonet, Snowfox walked in on Diamond performing a second spell illegally.
Diamond was furious, but instead of killing the confused dragonet outright, she decided on a plan that would benefit the both of them-
Diamond would have a backup heir in case her son, Arctic, died. (Diamond hated and resented Arctic for having the chance at Animus greatness that Diamond ruined with her mediocre gift.)
Snowfox would be adopted by Diamond’s sister, Pristine, giving her access to the throne. Even if she wasn’t a ‘real’ royal, Diamond liked her better than Arctic.
Snowfox’s parents were killed in an ‘avalanche’.
Snowfox hated Diamond and wanted to be queen from that moment onwards, remembering everything Diamond hoped she’d forget.
She also disliked Arctic, thinking he was every bit as bad as his mother.
Feeling sorry for Arctic’s fiancé, she started a casual conversation with her at a party; and, (against her better judgment), fell hard for her.
Arctic’s fiancé, Snowflake, hated Arctic as much as Snowfox.
Snowfox explained the situation.
Arctic ran away, a plot orchestrated by Snowfox and Snowflake, who are wonderful evil lesbians btw and I love them.
then they ruled the Ice Kingdom after overthrowing Diamond and being adorable partners in crime and girlfriends forever <3
Snowflake’s sister took over when both queens died (peacefully), but neither of the families had animus magic, so the gene was dead.
by the way, Snowflake knew about Snowfox being adopted, but it only made her love her evil gf more because the less she has to be connected to Arctic the better. (Like Sundew and Nettle and Willow kinda.)

[id: Digital drawing of Queen Diamond. She is standing sideways, visible grin on her snout. One of her front paws is raised. She has pale, almost white scales with purplish tint to them. She also has long fluffy mane stretching from top of her head over the tail tip. Her underbelly is covered in it as well, extending even bit to her chin. She also has fur underneath her deep dark blue eyes. Wing membranes are deep blue as well, and on top of her head rests silver crown with bit of a shine to it. / end id]

I just had an idea, Vigilance x Diamond diplomatic meetings are just an excuse to meet up with each other. After it's over they just say negotiations fell apart and continue the war because if anyone found out it would be a massive scandal and ruin the reputation of them and the tribes as the tribes are fighting against each other while their Queens are dating each other in secret. They will kill anyone who they suspect is suspicious of them. They love and hate each other at the same time, they make each other worse and yet they keep coming back to meet. Do you see my vision WoF fandom.

Unsorted WOF thoughts part 96:
Animus Dragons ranked in order of how bad their most malicious spell was (Decided by how many dragons got hurt, how badly they got hurt, and how much they had it coming).
Note: In this post, malice is defined as how much they want to watch someone suffer.
The order I put these in might be subject to change. This list is made mostly for fun as a thought experiment of sorts.
Edit: In light of a relatively simple argument, I've changed Darkstalker's postition. My original argument was that his plague spell was cast out of malice, but not as much pure malice as the knife spell. Though, I now agree that because his intention was to wipe out an entire tribe, that puts the plague spell over the knife spell.
Jerboa III: Encasing the original Jerboa in ice forever. She super-duper deserved it.
Turtle: Repeatedly beating Chameleon over the head with the talisman. He deserved it.
Arctic: This is a bit of a weird one. He, for sure, had worse intentions in mind, but out of the spells we've actually seen him cast, controlling Whiteout was his most malicious, and, thankfully, nothing bad actually came from that.
Anemone: Anemone was going mad by the time she tried to crush Turtle with that boulder, so I think her most intentionally malicious spell instead was repeatedly beating Moon over the head with a broom.
Jerboa: In all honesty, Jerboa was a worse person than Darkstalker (not exactly an easy feat), but her most knowingly malicious spell was her final spell. Don't get me wrong, it was an evil fucking spell, but Jerboa III was the only one who got hurt, putting it lower than the others.
Diamond: The Diamond Trials. Foeslayer didn't deserve it, and it ended up freezing to death a great many presumably undeserving members of IceWing royalty. (For simplicity, I'm counting it as just one spell because I do what I want.)
Stonemover: We don't know how on-board he was with creating those portals, but they're his only spells we've heard of. They were created with the intention of invading the RainWings, which led to the kidnapping and torture of an unspecified number of them. I think torture might be worse than murder, but I'm open to other opinions. There's also the argument that the RainWings were eventually set free, but I still think that the long-term psychological effects may have been bad enough to justify this placement. But if there's enough disagreement, I will most likely bump it down below the mass-murders committed on this list.
Albatross: The SeaWing Massacre. Lagoon deserved it, but it's impossible to tell if the same applied to all the other SeaWings or the SkyWing royalty. Not to mention the lasting effects that it had on the remaining two members of the SeaWing royal family, ruining their relationship for life and putting them both in permanent positions that neither of them were ready to bear. Albatross was also going mad at the time, but I think he was aware enough that he knew what he was doing.
Darkstalker: I think that because his intention was to completely eradicate an entire tribe, that makes the IceWing plague his most malicious spell. Genocide is one of the worst crimes that an individual can commit. And while he didn't even get close to wiping out the entirety of the IceWing Kingdom, he did succeed in slowly killing a huge chunk of it, including their reigning queen. He set them back quite a bit with the total body count, as well as giving the remaining survivors potentially lifelong PTSD. It was, by far, one of the worst actions ever committed in the series as it stands now.
