I think it’s time I introduce my doomed ancient yuri to the ninjago fandom. I’ll leave the story under the cut if anyone wants to read it 💜 it includes my Wojira backstory and why I draw Nyad as oni
Wojira is the younger, less powerful sister of firstbourne, I think. Wojira and Firstbourne we’re both chill with Oni, but Firstbourne was more Reserved about it . Like, she didn’t enforce weird rules or anything but she also . Didn’t stop her kids from being really awful.
Wojira spent more time with Oni than other Dragons. Even her kids (wind and water Dragons) were sort of weird about it. She didn’t really like the sort of power hoarding attitude of the other Dragons and decided to teach them a lesson about it.
When the first master was born she realized that Oni blood COULD bear elemental magic, and she took in two Oni kids (Nyad and her brother who I made up and haven’t named yet lmao) and gave them wind and water (separately) magic. And the other Dragons were VERY mad about this. They thought it was disgraceful.
They tried to get Firstbourne to banish her . Firstbourne refused and so her kids just all worked together to banish her instead. And sort of gave her a fucked up cursed eternal headache (in the amulets) Whoops . Nyad and her brother followed Wojira into the realm of Ninjago and tried to ease her pain for years but eventually it just sort of broke her mind and she started laying absolute waste to everything.
The FSM goes through his whole story (still figuring out details of it in my headcanons) and comes to Ninjago, desperate for a new home. And Nyad and her brother (I really need to name them DIFNDKFM) are scared of him at first. But he shows them his elemental magic and they realize he’s like them (Oni with elemental magic). And they bond over that and tell him about Wojira. The first master decides to help Nyad convince the Merlopians and Islanders to resist Wojira and hopefully bring peace to the realm.
Over several months they become good friends, and they often calm Nyad’s brother by making beautiful little worlds out of their elemental magic for him. And the FSM promises that one day Ninjago will be safe like these worlds, and they’ll all be able to live there.
And these very very lonely people have made a little family.
Of course, the Oni hunters are sent to track down the FSM, and Mystaké is the first to find them. She announces herself and demands the first master return with her. He begs to stay just long enough to make this world safe for the people there, and she reluctantly agrees when they show her the safe world they’re planning to build. It looks beautiful.
Mystaké joins their efforts, hoping to speed along the process of the first master’s return to the first realm, but she finds herself amazed by their magic and (worse) deeply fond of the little trio. She falls in love with Nyad, and starts letting herself indulge in their hopeful fantasies of a safe world where no one will find them. In this time, Nyad gives the FSM a name of his own to use when they have their safer world. Hajime.
When the preparations are as ready as they’ll ever be, the Battle of Nine Days begins. On the eighth day, Nyad’s little brother (who wasn’t even fighting) is struck near-fatally, and Nyad launches a risky attack to try and end the battle once and for all. It’s unsuccessful, but she realizes Wojira’s weak spot. Like in canon, she merges with the sea, desperate to give the others a chance at the world they’d all hoped for, and hoping that her brother could be saved if the battle ended and he could get proper help.
She knows she should kill Wojira, but she can’t bring herself to. And instead of killing her she decides to take the amulets, and send Wojira into a deep, painless sleep, hopefully eternal.
Hajime is devastated by Nyad’s death, and though Mystaké grieves her as well, she’s a lot more accustomed to death, and watches her go, surprised by the ache in her heart.
The brother lives, but passes on his element very soon after the events of the battle, sick of it’s consequence. Hajime builds the new world and appoints new masters, though he doesn’t know where the water and wind elements went (not his domain). Mystaké never even brings up the idea of taking Hajime back to the first realm again, and protects him from other hunters when she can. Hajime lives a long long time before choosing to pass on and find peace for himself. Mystake lives another thousand years, farming strange enchanted teas, occasionally a companion to Wu and Garmadon.
In Hunted, she confides in Lloyd that if or when she dies, she would like to be sunk into the sea where the battle took place (not that she tells him the story. Just the location), and Lloyd thinks it’s just some weird senile old lady talk. But when she does die at the hands of his father and the Sons of Garmadon in Hunted, Lloyd doesn’t get a chance to row her out until after March of the Oni.
She liked Lloyd. He was a lot like Hajime.

I have many thoughts. look under the cut to read them >:D (click for quality tumblr fucked it up bad)
Tumblr media
my hands slipped and made a new au for wojira duo. whoops.
so the au starts around the time that seabound ends, with nya as this big-ass water dragon thing and kinda just wandering around the ocean saving random sailors out of habit. within her first week or so she starts hearing a soft hum in her head, and eventually, the voice starts to speak a bit. in this form, she is the most connected to her element than she ever has been or ever will be, so she’s finally able to connect to the other half of her element, wind, aka morro. she's hearing his thoughts, basically.
but morro’s dead, right? kinda. a little. let me explain.
for some reason, the writers never bothered to establish the existence of a new master of wind after morro died (which totally shoulda happened btw), so that implies that morro never died to begin with. I decided to make the explanation as vague and random as possible because that's what I’m best at!! yeah.
in this au, it's revealed that morro never actually got sent to the departed realm in the s5 finale, and instead was manifested as a huge purple dragon similar to nya’s current form. this only happened because he never had anyone to pass his element to, so he was instead sent to guard the skies by the first master himself until morro could find someone who he deemed fit enough to wield the wind after him.
of course, morro being the stubborn asshole he is (affectionate), chose that brooding in the mountains is a better fate than giving up his wind. he lives on the highest of all peaks in ninjago, where no one will try to find him. he decides that he may as well stay true to the task the first master put on him; he’s not sure he can handle the guilt of going against him after what he did to wu.
ok enough about the emo bitch. back to the cool one. nya has developed a mental link with morro now that they’ve both reached the highest point of connection with their elements. she eventually works up the courage to talk to him, and he reluctantly responds. in canon, nyad is the one to help nya remember her life, but in this version it's morro. she freaks out when she realizes who she's talking to, but morro isn't acting like a vengeful psychopath, so over a few months nya and morro begin to talk to each other more and more. eventually, they become friends :D
I have more planned, but this is all I'll put for now because it's already getting way too long lmao. send me an ask if you wanna hear more tho, I'll gladly share!

So I'm rewatching season 11 cause I'm bored and I found something
The pass that Lloyd goes through with the avalanches? It's called Mala Wojira (Bad Wojira), and the avalanches are called Wojira's wrath
Why does no one talk about this??? It's so interesting! How do they know about wojira? Why is an avalanch zone named after a storm serpent? It dosent match her element. It's never even slightly explained. Additionally this is all from SEASON 11! Way before wojira actually starts being a proper thing!
I want to know what's going on here

I’ve always felt that Wojira was to small. Like we are told that they are so dangerous but it doesn’t feel big enough for the way she is portrayed.
Also

Her size in comparison to Kalimar feels very off. Like she changed sizes.

can you rank the guardians (including wojira and GD in book 2) from biggest to smallest
Well, back in 21-22, I had the idea for the Guardians to be able to change their shape and size at whim, but a) I could never figure out why this would be a thing they could do, and b) it never actually made it into a story, therefore it’s not ‘canon’. That being said, their sizes actually vary quite a bit as a result.
The Great Devourer is the biggest for, well, obvious reasons. If she didn’t have the destructive eating/growing thing (courtesy of biting Garmadon), she would’ve been equal in size to Genesis. But of course, she went from being smaller than them to utterly surpassing them.
Genesis/Wojira are next! They’re both about the same size, though they’re moreso long as opposed to being big, they still cut a rather imposing silhouette. They both drawf buildings and make people look like ants in return.
Next is technically Tawhiri. From just her head/body alone, she is the same size as Ruamoko, but her tentacles give her some extra length there. Nothing more terrifying than there being a big ol’ Lightning storm and then a giant flying octopus emerges from the clouds—
Then it’s Ruamoko! He’s pretty huge, being able to hold Cole in the palm of his hand for example, and able to catch a falling building (though that’s mostly due to his crazy strength anyway), but he’s not the size of a skyscraper or anything. As mentioned in the GD fight, he’s just a bit bigger than Eirlys and Vulcanell combined.
Next is Vulcanell, who is essentially the size of a regular lion, if not somewhat bigger. Large enough to hold/carry a few people on his back, small enough for fiery cuddles with a Fire Master.
Eirlys is also only a little bigger than the average wolf (which are actually already pretty big when it comes to potentially dangerous animals). Still imposing despite the relatively smaller stature compared to her fellow Guardians, but not above getting pets and treats from Zane (and Cole) on occasion snksnksnk.
Last is Epsilon, who for a good chunk of the story is about as big as the GD was pre-Garmadon bite. During the NRG Arc she starts to reach the size of a Boa Constrictor, and one day if she is cared for and treated well, she just might reach Genesis’ size as a proper Guardian, as her mother should have before her.

GUYS, look at this Seabound concept art! It's called Island Tiki Base! It's so cool looking! Check out that big snake swimming in the center! I wonder if that's supposed to be Wojira?👀
