if there could be like your dream scene or moment in ninjago (whether changing a pre-existing one or adding one), something that you desperately would want to happen - what would it be?

i think if i had to pick ONE specific scene, it'd be the one in seabound where jay launches himself at kalmaar for hurting nya

first things first, i know why jay wasn't able to absolutely Kick Ass in this moment - he had just recovered from dry drowning and could barely STAND just a minute ago, but he was so furious and full of adrenaline that he just acted. and immediately got his ass handed to him

makes sense. it's impressive he was even able to do THAT and hold off kalmaar as long as he did before benthomaar stepped in. BUT. YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENS RIGHT WHEN JAY STANDS UP

WOJIRA'S LIGHTNING FLASHES BEHIND HIM

so what i would PERSONALLY change here is that the lightning strikes jay and gives him a boost. so he's able to use wojira's own power to fight her handler. idk i just think that'd be really fuckin cool and i wanted it to happen soooo bad so if i could personally change ONE scene in ninjago it'd be this one

I’ve seen people compare Seabound and Skybound’s villains and I love comparing them because it makes me realise how similar and how different they both are

Like both Nadakhan and Kalmaar are princes that needed to become king in order to fulfil their goals. Except Nadakhan was willing to save his father when Djinjago was falling while Kalmaar KILLED his father. Nadakhan was a pirate who fled Djinjago while Kalmaar took great pride in being a Merlopian. Hence his prejudice against both humans and his brother

I love the similarities between the two of them but they’re such unique villains who oppose each other at times. It’s so fascinating to compare them

Given how many Ninjago villains were just lying in wait this whole time, it really makes you wonder what the heck they were thinking when previous villains revealed their endgame, if they had any plans for how to deal with it if the ninja couldn't, etc. What did Krux think when the mother of his Vermillion hordes showed up in his city; Did he think the Great Devourer sensed her children and was looking for them?

What was his thought process when her venom reawakened the Stone Warrior exhibit, when an entire Stone Army wreaked havoc on the city... And then returned to do so a second time, with most people being infected by Dark Matter? When he saw a giant demonic dragon on the horizon, did Krux panic and wonder if his Vermillion could handle the Overlord and his indestructible army, or was his plan to just lay low, wait for the return of Acronix and the other Time Blades, and then use Iron Doom to prevent all of this from happening? And when Cyrus Borg revamped all of Ninjago City with his technology, Krux must've been relieved when he undid those changes later on.

The Island of Darkness rising from the ocean, realistically, must've displaced an enormous amount of water, and thus had a huge impact on the global ecosystem. I think it would've been cool to have this mentioned by Kalmaar during Seabound; Maybe he points to this as an example of how the land dwellers continue to disrupt their world and steal from it, lifting the ocean floor to the arid surface and suffocating countless creatures?

We sort of have an idea for what Harumi was thinking when the Overlord attacked, twice; Her reaction to him is horror, and she initially refuses to work with the embodiment of evil. So she must've been scared again, and hoping Garmadon would stop the Overlord... Did she see and recognize Garmadon's body, mutated by the Overlord's possession?

When the Serpentine began to return, one tribe at a time, was Chen concerned about the Anacondrai coming back, and them getting in the way of his plan to take over Ninjago with his impostor Anacondrai? Was there relief when it became apparent that Pythor was the only survivor? What did he plan to do about the Great Devourer, or Dark Matter suddenly infecting entire swathes of the population?

I imagine the Overlord wasn't too concerned with Wojira's flooding of Ninjago City; If Kalmaar succeeded, he'd kill the ninja, the only ones who could stop him. We know Water and Wind come from Wojira, and Nya is susceptible to Vengestone; So would the Overlord's Vengestone army be enough to disable Wojira's powers? Could she be crystalized? Given that the Overlord is the embodiment of all darkness, evil, and hatred, did he not mind at all if some other villain got close to taking over the world, since it'd just make him stronger, and spreading this sort of despair was already his MO?

poses!! yeah i love dynamic poses a lot.. its hard for me to make characters sit still (is that the right word??) like-

a while ago (literally if you scroll down on my blog to older pieces ive made) i feel like everything looked a little odd and stiff? its hard to explain exactly, but for a long time ive had this FEAR of everything i make looking the same, like every character and every pose being basically the same with different colors.

and my first response to that fear was: "okay. ill draw more dynamic things then. so they wont look like the same thing over and over!" and now it just kind of evolved in me getting huge enjoyment in drawing all sorts of dynamic/fighting poses or whatever!! i like expressions and poses being exaggerated and very shape-based

explaining my art is so hard JDJWKHWD because i always completely SPACE OUT while i draw, so when the drawings done i literally dont know how i did that KDKJDWJKHDWKJ

and colors too!! yeah i do love using more vibrant colors. i like glowy things and i feel like they can give otherwise bland color schemes i tend to do some life! i dunno the exact reason WHY i use the colors that i do, but hey if yall like it i must be doing good!!!

heard your req about a swap au loud and clear >:3 maybe it was a mistake to give the au fiend More AUs to play with but i totally haven't been thinking about this nonstop recently (im lying. ive been thinking about this nonstop)

in case it wasn't clear from the image, the swaps are as follows

with bonus swaps of

pixal - mr e / echo (still haven't decided if i want mr e to be echo here)

since everything's all swapped around, it means that harumi is the daughter of wu (hehe haWUmi), and wu is the lord of darkness and master of destruction. misako stays where she is bc i couldn't think of anyone to swap her with gfkjdhfgkjh (and btw she has glasses bc i hc her to be albino and albino ppl tend to have poor vision, so i thought it'd be cute :) since i used to hc lloyd with glasses at some point i thought it would fit)

skylor's mom died recently, and she's been trying not to think about it by drowning herself in work at the noodle shop, where her dad chen is trying to get her to lighten up and not work so hard. she gets approached by garmadon to train with her mother's fire and she accepts. chen is a wonderful dad and i LOVE HIM

unagami (prefers gami) is a Gamer™️ and has two whole dads (milton dyer and okino). despite being tiny, permanently babyfaced, and a Gamer, he talks very politely and uses a lot of big words. okino raised him like that :) scott is the previous elem of lightning but i haven't decided where he is in the story yet, but i want him to be gami's uncle. also gami is a vtuber

morro was found as a kid rooting through garmadons trash, so ofc garm went "hm. i want this rat as my child" and adopts them dkjfghdfjh they got their earth power from their parent, who is still unknown to everyone. they're still just as emo bc they have an excuse to wear black at all times jdkfghkjdfg (morro also gets kai's jealousy arc and realization that the green ninja is to be protected, so they end up taking kai's role as the green ninja's older sibling, in this case rumi)

cryptor was built by cyrus borg in this au, but still deep in the forest where no one could find them. he was originally built to assist borg with household things but he started to see cryptor as his son as his ai developed. borg got kidnapped at some point, so cryptor is trying to find him. unknown if cry knows about being a nindroid at first or not, but he's prone to short circuiting due to how snappy he gets.

and kalmaar (sometimes called kali or mar depending on their mood) is the water ninja now! bc i thought it'd be absolutely hilarious to put this purple bitch boy in a hero's role dfkjghkjdhfg he got exiled from merlopia after his father and (adopted) brother disagreed with his human-loving notions, and decided that weakness wasn't tolerated. and because of Magic i guess, kalmaar is able to shift from his squid form to a more lego head-esque form (aka i did not want to draw a squid head. good lird). also i made him genderfluid bc i can

merry christmas to those who celebrate it and happy holidays to everyone! I haven’t posted in a hot minute so here are some more ninjago kitties for my warriors au, along with a sunwish/nadakhan redesign since I wasn’t really happy with the original design I made! I also tested out a different sort of art style for this batch just to simply branch out. I had a lot of fun designing most of these guys! Though I might go back and revamp squidswim/kalmaar. I plan on revamping more older designs as well (specifically the other mistfortunes keep kitties and krux) so be on the look out for those if you are interested! I also attached the concept doodle for sunwish’s redesign since I really like how it turned out, I may do more in the future for different characters, and maybe full on scenes of stuff from this au! Out of all of these guys I really like ray/brightray and maya/wavedance’s designs the most, they were so much fun to work with! maybe an upcoming pmv relating to them who knows…..

Anyway, once more, I hope you all like these design! And have a fantastic end of the year
