War on Love (Masterpost)

This will be the masterpost for all information about the discontinued fic War on Love. Obviously, heavy spoilers ahead, so please read at your own discretion. Content warnings will be listed at the beginning of every individual post, for best accuracy.

I got some dm's and asks here and there regarding War on Love, my ZAGR fic from 2013 that sort of died before it really picked up into the interesting bits. So, for the curious, and so that I can direct future inquirers to their answers, here's a masterpost which will include details of the plot, screenshots of some of the writing (for context), relevant musical tracks, etc.

I go back and forth on whether or not I'd ever completely publish the works, whether I'd publish them as-is with no context, whether I'd write them like some of my other short fics like That Thing on Your Wrist that just sort of jump between important events with brief transitional summaries, or leave it dead. So while there's a possibility it may finish in some way or another, for those who'd rather not wait to find out, this is the place for you.

Originally a member of the Oronir tribe, she runs away to prove herself, and ends up working with the Scions of the Seventh Dawn until she (and Yesuntei) win the Naadam for the Mol, and she marries Sadu (and Cirina and Yesuntei).

Fraegeim is one of the fourteen disparate shards that Helios became after the Sundering, but her world of origin varies by AU. While she is always a shard of Corrain, and thus shares many personality traits with him- such as a love of mischief and laughter, a too-quick temper, and a childlike awe for the world in which she lives - whether or not she hails from the First or Thirteenth varies based on whether or not the AU is shared with Lelesu or Seleukos, mentioned above. When it is shared- she is Corrain's matching shard from the First (as Ardbert is Lelesu's matching shard). When he is the only WoL, she hails from the Thirteenth, and was slain much like Golbez was, after succumbing to Darkness.

FFXIVWrite 2024- Candle Masterpost

*Heavy breathing* I will do it. This is the first I'm participating. Hi I'm Candle a gpose fic writer, and English is not my native language. Crepuscule a Wol & OT3 gpose fic started in 2022 is my long and current writing project.

Today I want to give myself the opportunity to express myself in a different way, to get out of my comfort zone and let my words flow. So here i am.

I can't promise I'll do all the prompt, no, I'll only create when my soul start dancing to the sound of the day's theme. I'll update this post and repost it with every new creation.

FFXIVWrite 2023 Finished Masterpost

I originally had a masterpost for the month that I sporadically updated as it went, but now that its finished, my pre-month ramblings about hoping I could do well to keep up didn't fit anymore for a finished masterpost, and I had enough pieces to fit into nice categories for presentation that I figured it'd be better to make a new masterpost for a cleaner layout.

In a surprising and unintended turn, a lot of the stories I wrote had an underlying theme of first meetings and impressions. A lot of that probably furthered by the Yuri mini-collection, but even before then, quite a few had that style to them.

19 works overall, especially since for much of this month, time wasn't on my side and I couldn't write for as many prompts as I would've liked. But I'm very proud of what I did manage and what I was able to achieve.

Yuri's saga (Post-Endwalker) Set after Endwalker, this mini-collection focused on my second character Yuri Sakuraba as she joins the Students and settles in, getting used to a new city, new duties and meets the Scions, in preparation for her potentially joining them in Dawntrail.

Astrid DeGlass has always been able to keep her cards close to her chest. But when a routine assignment inadvertently drags one of her greatest secrets out into the open, the Sharlayan politician must deal with a heartbreak that never fully healed.

The World Unsundered

Back to the Masterpost

Millenia ago, when Etheriys was still one, two siblings rose to the First and Fourteenth seats of the Amaurotine Convocation:

The younger, Themis, formerly employed by the Words of Pashtarot, joined the Convocation as Elidibus, the Emissary. He was known to be inscrutable, but always fair and wise beyond his years and thus a sound choice for the position. For all his quirks, his boundless patience made sense when considering his sister.

The elder, Theia, was part of the Words of Emmerololth. She worked primarily in creating familiars with the capacity to heal, such as the fey-like beings Eos and Selene. However, when left to her own devices, her experiments often led to "but what if we gave it more aether". Several such experiments were later confined to Lahabrea's Pandaemonium for further research.

One day, the current Azem asked for an assistant skilled in healing. Theia volunteered for the task, and the two found a kindred spirit in one another. Theia longed to travel and joined Azem on several excursions after.

Eventually, Azem decided to cede her position and once again take the name Venat. She recommended Theia take her place, and Theia rose to the Fourteenth Seat, taking the title of the Traveler, Azem, and joining her brother on the Convocation.

There, she met Emet-Selch and his partner, Hythlodaeus. Hythlodaeus and Azem became fast friends, to Emet-Selch's chagrin. Theia had met Hythlodaeus at a distance, having submitted several concepts to the Bureau, but the opportunity to meet and interact regularly with both men resulted in Azem becoming attached to them. In time, the three would become inseparable, even as Azem traveled the star.

One day, a strange familiar that seemed to be one of Azem's appeared in Elpis. The familiar, claiming to be from the far future, warned of an apocalypse soon to come. The former Azem, Venat, met the familiar and put in place a plan to sunder the world into fourteen shards, creating the means for people in the future to fight back against the postponed Final Days.

After the familiar's departure, Venat met with Azem and shared the story. Azem, in her own way, prepared for the impending doom. Though her soul would be diminished after the sundering, surely she would still want for means to travel—even across the rift.

When the Final Days arrived, Azem left the Convocation in protest of their actions. She claimed to seek another way to save their star, but she knew the truth—their salvation would only come in a far off time, their world entrusted to her "familiar".

War On Love. How would it have continued/ended, what plot beats where there supposed to be if you remember any, etc?

also this'll sound weird, mainly because I can't really explain it and I'm still working thru it, but I wanted to say thanks for writing it? Finding it again and reading through it reminded me of things I had forgotten about myself for a while. Which has really helped from then to now. So, yeah, as silly as it sounds, thank you. :}

Long answer under the cut

I go back and forth on whether I'll ever update WoL. It just has so many bad connotations and memories for me about the headspace I was in while writing it, and where I was at emotionally, etc. On the other hand, I'm also incredibly proud of some of the insights I wrote about Gaz's perspective, and the overall plot twists and where it was going. I also still have a TON of writing for it still in bits and pieces, both important chunks and unimportant, AND like 4 chapters of the sequel written.

Sometimes I'm like, well, I could sort of finish it in the same style that like That Thing on Your Wrist and What We Become, which are more written in sort of continuous blurbs with gentle transitions and takes occasions to focus on really important scenes. I think with what I have written, it'd be feasible, but that'd also mean taking time away from my more important projects like Dead Weight and Re:MHNY2, so I hesitate to really commit to anything. You are not the first person to ask though, so that may be something I end up doing in the long term. A quick add up of the chunks of the story I have written says I have roughly 53k words of unpublished story for WoL. On the one hand, a shame to go to waste, on the other hand, I'm not really sure how I'd feel emotionally about trying to dig it back. Like I said, I go back and forth. Just for bonus trivia, since I gave the unpublished word count for WoL, it's sequel, which had a pending title of War on Finality, has 25k words written, and about a 2k words worth of ideas that I wrote, but wasn't sold on including.

I super appreciate btw your note about "things I had forgotten about myself for awhile." That really resonated with me. WoL has is a bittersweet for me because while it was my attempt to push through the gross stuff happening during that time period that I hadn't processed yet, I'm still also really proud of the messages I was going to include, some of the plot points I'd come up with, plot parallels, the OC's character development and direction, and how incredibly different it was going to be from anything I'd written at that point. I think it'd probably have ended up being one of my most emotive fics, and definitely with the (initial) darkest ending.

That being said, the plot of WoL definitely is it's own whole ass post, so apologies for not being able to answer immediately, but I genuinely think I'd break the character limit of tumblr if I tried to go into it all here lmao. Also, since it comes up sometimes from other dm's I've gotten, I think the better idea for me to do is make a masterpost about WoL and where it was going, include some screenshot blurbs for context, etc. That might take a few days, but when that posts, I'll reblog this with the link to the masterpost.
