Description: “Like courage and dreams, the more it shines, the easier it collects dust.” -> Meaning: As something gains prominence, it becomes more susceptible to accumulating “dust”. “Dust” can refer to things like obstacles, criticisms, setbacks, or other negative influences that might tarnish its “shine”. More visibility or success means a higher likelihood of encountering challenges or distractions. It’s a reminder to be prepared for difficulties while maintaining focus and determination in the face of obstacles, while also acknowledging the inherent vulnerability that comes with standing out. This is fitting for Norton considering he did have big dreams (to escape poverty) but has continued to run into obstacles and other challenges along the way. We also know Norton is a stubborn person who is incredibly determined to achieve his goal.

Wolframite is a mineral that is the main source of tungsten (an element), a valuable but rare metal, one of the strongest on the planet (especially in its harder alloy form Tungsten Carbide) due to having the highest melting point and tensile strength (aka, the resistance of a material to breaking under tension) of any pure metal on the planet (though it is brittle and known to shatter on impact) and a high score on the Mohs hardness scale.

Tungsten is used in the production of ballistic missiles and drills, electrical filaments, armor piercing ammunition, radiation shielding, etc…

It is a mineral series that includes ferberite (iron-rich) and hübnerite (manganese-rich). Wolframite sits closer to the middle of the series, as its manganese and iron content are generally more equal.

The name "wolframite" is derived from German "wolf rahm" ("wolf soot" or "wolf cream"), the name given to tungsten by Johan Gottschalk Wallerius in 1747. This, in turn, derives from Latin "lupi spuma", the name Georg Agricola used for the element in 1546, which translates into English as "wolf's froth" and is a reference to the large amounts of tin consumed by the mineral during its extraction. This was because when miners found wolframite with tin and smelters attempted to melt the ore to get the tin, they couldn’t get the tin because the wolframite formed a “foamy slag” when it reacted with the tin.

Pre-Manor:

Anything that happens before Oletus Manor, a coincidental run-in, scenarios relating to Alice is investigation on Norton, or Norton being hired to go after Alice, even once concepts!

Matching Costumes:

Alternative universes or just costumes that match! Ex. Eternity/Infernal Sin, Summer Frisbee/Trainee Editor, Spinel/Wolframite etc, etc...

Banquet:

Based on the official artwork for Ashes of Memory Chapter II featuring all members of the group dining together, can also reference the endless banquet MV, or a scenario loosely akin to a dinner date.

Interview:

The canonical interaction between Alice and Norton during their time in the Manor, I suggest looking at Norton's 2022 letter for more information in regards to this event.

Chase:

Another canonical event that took place during Ashes of Memories, this is the prompt most focused on Fool's Gold and Alice's dynamic, it also doesn't necessarily have to be about that specific chase, can take place in any part in the story that you'd see fit!

more of a metaphorical concept to tie into the theme of their characters and such, this prompt is intended to be interpretive but can be taken literally if you choose to do so.

Post-Manor:

A prompt with a lot of ideas to work with; escaping the Manor together, having an unlikely run-in after the manor, tending to their injuries after their game, so on and so forth.

Hi guys, my name is Aaron and I run an online mineral merchantry! My business is primarily on Instagram, but I’m also going to start establishing my presence here on tumblr as well!

I specialize in Chinese minerals, and my focus is on quartz (though I do carry other things as well)!

Here’s a list of what’s shown above:

Hunter Norton - Short Analysis/Notes

Wolframite’s arm is made of pyrite aka Fool’s Gold. Hunter Norton’s name is “Fool’s Gold”

Lily’s essence where Fluorite and the others are affected by “phosphorescent illness” which “gradually erodes the skin” and causes them to “yearn for captivity”. We see in Fluorite’s design notes that this “phosphorescence” caused people’s skin to begin transforming into different ores. Hunter Norton is also made of rocks/minerals.

According to the short backstory given to Hunter Norton so far, it re-emphasizes his fear of the dark and being back in the “bottomless mine that he had always wanted to escape from”. So he stays in the light. This can tie to how in Lily’s essence, in her design notes and in her essence trailer, we see how being in the moonlight starts to cure/heal the “phosphorescence illness” from Lily aka her ore/mineral parts. If being in the light helps, that could relate to why Norton is avoiding the darkness, and especially the mine itself.

On Hunter Norton’s hip is what appears to be an Oil-Wick Cap Lamp or Tea Pot lamp. These were 1st used in Scotland around 1850, with a hook on the back and a spout where the fat and oil for fuel were pulled from and lit. Miners typically used the cheapest fuel they could find. A drip ring could be added to catch any oil falling from the wick. Compared to candles, the light was brighter, lasted longer, and was easier to carry, but the flame was smokier. The open flame could also ignite flammable gases in mines and causing explosions. The threat of explosions led to the invention of the safety lamp for use in potentially combustible mines and the invention of the carbide lamp which replaced the oil-wick lamps by the 1920s. (Main difference is Oil-wick lamps were hung from their hats while Hunter Norton has it on his hip hanging from a chain.)

What is tungsten?

Tungsten, also known as wolfram, the tungsten symbol is " W " on the periodic table. It is a rare metal found naturally in earth, it is found in compounds with other elements such as wolframite ore (iron-manganese tungstate), scheelite ore (calcium tungstate), and ferberite ore (iron tungstate), not in pure state.

Tungsten is renowned for its exceptional toughness, it is one of the most toughest materials in nature. This super dense metal boasts an incredibly high melting point, it is virtually impossible to melt under ordinary conditions. In its pure form, tungsten presents as a silver-white metal.

Tungsten can be used in a lot of applications because it is very strong and durable. This amazing metal possess very high corrosion resistance and has the highest melting point of any material. Pure tungsten is very soft, but where is its exceptional strength come from? most of its powerful properties such as strength appear when it is in compounds.
