August Suit (+tie overlay) and Hat
Tumblr media
I couldn't find any famous historical person to name this ensemble after. No name felt right. So, I decided to name it after a non-famous historical person, from my family! Problem: it seems that all of my male ancestors born before 1920 were named Mats, Johan or Jakob. There are tons of interesting women's names in my family tree, though. There was one woman named Augustia, thus the name August!
Enough about names. This is a casual 1850s-inspired suit and matching top hat for your sensible (pattern-loving?) gentlemen. Comes in many sensible colors!
The August Suit
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The suit is an edit of a labcoat from Get To Work. BGC, of course. Its swatches were inspired by fashion from the 1830s-60s. It has soft shoulders and a slightly nipped waist, and could work from the 1840s up until the late 1850s. The tie is white in all swatches, but I've made a neat little color overlay for it.

August Tie Overlay
Honestly, I don't like this tie. It's not straight-up historically inaccurate, but it's damn close. However, this was a low-effort project, and completely changing the look of the tie to, say, a cravat or bow tie, or maybe a stock, that would be way too much effort. The regular tie will have to do.

August Top Hat
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Before naming this set August, the top hat was appropriately titled "The Tallest Top Hat" because it certainly is tall! As was fashionable in this era, of course. Tall, thin top hats were very trendy. The hat itself comes in black, brown and beige, and the band comes in a variety of colors. I didn't consciously try to make it match the suit, but it ended up doing that anyway.

Some Thoughts About Agent Carter Costumes: On Style and Level of Comfort
aka ‘you won’t believe who actually is the little diva fashionista’
So in 2021, I set myself a little challenge: emulate the characters’ outfits so I can understand first-hand how they move and what historical outfits feel like. It’s been more than a year since I began that project, and I have some interesting findings...
Peggy
Peggy’s one of the reasons why this project was started in the first place. I noticed a discrepancy between how the historical costuming community describe mid-century dress, and how Peggy’s experience with her clothes are described in fandom circles. So I wanted to see for myself: how much movement do you get with ‘40s womenswear? Are they comfortable?
In short, yes, they are! And even though I started this project knowing that historical outfits are often more comfortable than we would think from our modern perspectives, I was still surprised by how much movement you get with stockings and garters. I have tested the action and yes, you can comfortably knee someone in the ***** in garters and stockings.
There are some caveats, of course. ‘Comfort’ with garments and outfits comes from familiarity. For example, as someone who wears skinny jeans all the time, including the summer months, the excess fabric of ‘40s wide-legged pants was a bit of a foreign sensation. I don’t mind tight clothing, so I didn’t have trouble with wearing girdles and cinchers as part of my ‘40s outfits. I also have got plenty of experience with heels, so walking and even running in them was not a challenge. I would imagine Peggy—and for that matter, most women in the AC universe—to be familiar with these elements, and find them reasonably manageable.
What I was surprised by, was that Peggy’s outfits are actually on the plainer side of ‘40s fashion. Comparing Peggy’s outfits to historical pictures, other female characters, and historical reproduction fashion, her clothes mainly consist of plain, solid colours. Ana and Rose, for example, wear plenty of prints. Angie and other Griffith girls wear knitwear with interesting patterns.
Overall, I would say Peggy’s outfits are practical and comfortable. A lot of her perceived glamour comes from her makeup, and the fact that her clothes are pretty well-tailored.
Tumblr media
Jack
One thing I find interesting is that repeatedly in AC fics, Jack is supposed to be the fashionista—he is supposed to be the one who is fussy with his appearance. But upon closer inspection, that does not appear to be the case.
Like Pegg, Jack’s outfits are plainer and more practical and comfortable than what meets the eye. His outfits seem stylised to the modern eye, with suspenders and patterned ties. But moving past the modern perspective, all he seems to wear around the office are loose, comfortable shirts and slacks. And while suspenders seem like a ✨fancy✨ choice to the modern audience, they are very everyday items in the ‘40s. They are arguably more practical than belts—in my experiments, I find that with suspenders, you trousers aren’t going anywhere, but they would still shift with belts. In short, his outfits are very practical and comfortable.
I would say a lot of his perceived style comes from the fact that he has several well-tailored suits. Another meta once discussed how owning several suits—and well-tailored ones, at that—in the ‘40s speaks to a certain level of wealth and resources. But again, I don’t know how much of that really reflects personal style. Like Peggy, he basically is hiding behind good tailors. On his own, he seems like someone who still values comfort and practicality over style.
Tumblr media
Daniel
It’s easy to dismiss Daniel as the ‘unfashionable’ one. His outfits in S1 and AOS S7 seem very boring and conservative, being far more formal than what his colleagues wear and composing of ‘dull’ colours like beige, brown, and black. As for S2, it seems easy to dismiss that as phase. Those loud Hawaiian shirts have been affectionately nicknamed ‘Hawaiian shirts of heartbreak’, and it’s easy to write off that part of his life as a simple experiment. But is that really the case?
The AC costume designer said that, and I paraphrase, the sweater vests in S1 act as a style layer, to have something that adds style and design after the jacket is removed indoors. And that’s what sets Daniel apart from everyone else—he layers. He has a collection of sweater vests in different styles—plain, colour block, argyle, to name a few. And while the fact that he layers can be read as a metaphor of how he hides his heart, one can hardly accuse him of being unfashionable.
His outfits in S2, again, speak to a level of style and willingness to experiment. For someone who seems to dress rather conservatively in New York, he has no qualms stepping way out of his comfort zone, experimenting with loud patterns and a decidedly West Coast style that the AC costume designer calls ‘sultry’. I think this willingness to experiment with fashion and try new styles is not something we can expect from Jack or Peggy.
And then there’s his outfit when he is first introduced in AOS S7, the dark woollen suit combo. For the sake of this discussion, I will engage that outfit in good faith, rather than writing some of the idiosyncrasies off as oversight by the costume department. If I have to sum up his outfits from 7x03-7x05, I will say this: style over practicality. First off, he is wearing many very warm layers for the height of summer in a desert. He is wearing a coat, a woollen suit, and a sweater vest on top of a shirt and whatever undergarments he may have got. Besides, he is wearing suspenders under the vest. If he is intending that to be a style layer that he doesn’t necessarily take off, like in S1, that would make for some inconvenience.
So overall, I would say that while Daniel’s outfits are also comfortable and warm, he is definitely the one who is more adventurous with fashion, and values style a little more than the other two.

Why Poirot is Autistic-Coded
Tumblr media
I'm basing this mostly on the David Suchet TV series - I've read some of the books and the traits are noticeable there, but I've seen more of the TV series than I've read books, also David Suchet made a point of acting true to the Poirot of the books - not as the production wanted him to. Captain Hastings, Miss Lemon, and Ariadne Oliver also have neurodivergent traits, which I’m not covering here. I do recommend this series, it is calming, predictable, nothing awful happens to the main characters (I refuse to watch Curtain), it’s relatable to some autistics, and there’s a lot of it! Also, the costumes are great if you’re into period clothing.
~ Clothing – Poirot’s clothes are about 20 years out of fashion, being in the Edwardian style whilst the TV show is always set in the mid 1930’s (the books range between the end of WW1 and the 1960’s). He is fastidious in his dress. He almost always wears his patent leather shoes with spats, even whilst walking in the countryside where they cause him discomfort. His attire changes very little, only differing in fabric and colour (beige/grey/black/white)..he is seen wearing his suit jacket in hot countries, despite being visibly uncomfortable from the heat. He wears his shirt, bow tie and waistcoat at home, with his dressing gown over the top. A small spot of grease on clothing distresses and pre-occupies him, he complains when his collars aren't starched properly. His clothes are always immaculate, and never dishevelled. He will put down a handkerchief before sitting on a bench, or kneeling on the ground. He won't show the bare skin of his arms, he is always fully covered. He doesn't care that they're out of fashion, he doesn't care what people think, he loves them. The restrictiveness of this clothing, and the amount of covering it offers, could also be a sensory need.
~ Personal grooming - While at the barbers he mentions measuring his sideburns and finding one a couple of millimetres longer than the other and tells the barber to make sure this doesn't happen again. He is always perfectly groomed; he takes a lot of pride in his appearance. His moustaches are very important to him, he trims and shapes them very regularly, they are always symmetrical (he carries a little mirror and brush for this purpose). The moustaches are also not the fashion and are quite silly, he doesn't care. He wears expensive fragrance and dyes his hair - both are seen as feminine at the time; he gives zero shits. The fragrance could be a sensory thing. So too could be the hair and moustaches. When he eats, he dabs his mouth with a napkin very regularly - sensory issues with food on skin.
~ Food - He is picky about what he eats and drinks. He has a tisane every day, despite it not being a popular drink in the UK at the time, and he must have his tisane at specific times with a specific quantity of sugar. He won't eat his boiled eggs if they are not identical in size. His toast is meticulously cut up into tiny squares with tiny blobs of jam in the exact centre. He is suspicious of new food - Hastings encourages him to try fish and chips, Japp makes him faggots, mash and peas - he refuses to eat it.
~ People - He is great with people and seemingly has a lot of empathy. Personally I put this down to him enjoying studying people - the way people work being like a special interest to him. He has a good knowledge of human behaviour and psychology. His job allows him to meet a lot of people quite effortlessly, and to be invited into their homes and spend time with them, without having to make the social arrangements himself. His career does the socialising leg-work for him.
~ Justice - He has a strong sense of justice; his job prevents innocent parties from being prosecuted. He doesn't assume the working classes to be the guilty parties and the upper classes to be innocent. He speaks to everyone as his equal, women and working-class folk, he's not condescending. He desires the truth from everyone and is determined to find it if they don't freely give it to him. He values honesty highly and hates to be deceived.
~ Workaholism - He can't cope without a case for too long. He needs his little grey cells to be active and tested. Crime and human behaviour seem to be his special interests, and he has the need for stimulation. He tries retiring briefly to grow vegetable marrows in the countryside ('The Murder of Roger Ackroyd'), but crime finds him again and he realises he misses his career and the city.
~ Home - He is quite minimal with his décor. There is no clutter, everything is neatly arranged in its correct place, and there is no dust. His crockery is arranged by height. He could probably afford to hire a cook, but does not, he loves to cook and needs things to be done his way (Miss Lemon sometimes cooks, but she understands him). He is seen washing the dishes with Hastings in one episode, repeatedly handing the same plate back to Hastings to clean, as he has not done so correctly. In other people's homes he will adjust and straighten objects because it irritates him to see things not lined up.
~ Relationships - Poirot is single, and as far as anyone knows always has been. He has no children, and he has no desire for marriage. He seems to develop a romantic attraction to Vera Rosakof (the Russian countess), but this goes no further (possibly because she's a jewel thief and he's a private detective 😆). He doesn't flirt - he exudes zero sexual energy. Personally, I think he is asexual and bi-romantic, he certainly gives queer vibes. He would likely struggle in a traditional romantic relationship, he enjoys his independence and needs things to be his way, he doesn’t want his routine altered, and is very committed to his work. He never mentions his family background to anyone, he only talks about his prior police work in Belgium.
~ Money - Poirot enjoys having money, money matters to him - he enjoys the finer things. But he is also sensible with money, he doesn't like overpriced things and is quite tight with his purse strings. When he’s at an auction bidding for a mirror he lets himself be out-bid rather than going over his budget – despite being fairly wealthy. He makes a point of his bank balance never falling below a specific figure.
~Travel - Poirot enjoys some elements of travel, but not others. He has a fear of flying and gets sea and car sick. He hates sleeping in a tent - he needs his home comforts. He can't abide dust/sand getting on him or his clothes. We never see him in the water, or sunbathing shirtless. But he seems to appreciate culture and history and art (and knows a little Arabic), and so travels in search of these things, but in as much style and comfort as possible. He will pack his entire wardrobe.
~ Methods - Poirot is very good at noticing small details that seem inconsequential to everyone else but are key details that unravel the whole case, he takes nothing for granted. This knack for noticing details others don't is an Autistic thing. He also understands people’s psychology and motives.
~ Posture - Poirot always has perfect erect posture, to the extent that its quite rigid. He's never seen slumping in a chair or crossing his legs. He sleeps on his back unmoving and equally rigid. There is a scene in ‘The Mystery of the Spanish Chest’ where Poirot dances, his footwork is fast and neat, but the rest of his body does not move, and his face is fixed. When he walks his legs move but his upper body does not.
~ Routine - In ‘Dumb Witness’ a dog is foisted upon Poirot, he looks after it temporarily and seems to enjoy it’s company, but chooses not to keep it, saying - "the routine of the dog is not the routine of Poirot". Poirot has his tisane at specific times every day and won't tolerate it being brought to him late/early. In the TV adaption of 'The Murder of Roger Ackroyd' he says "you know how lateness distresses me".
Disclaimer -These are just my interpretations of Poirot as an autistic myself. Others will obviously have their own take on him. I’ve probably also missed traits/examples but writing this was mostly just for my own enjoyment!

I love how in the setting of Goncharov, while you know it is the 70s, sometimes you can’t really tell what year the movie is supposed to take place. Like the cars are all from the 40s, each character seems to their fashion sense of a different decade: Katya and the Hollywood glam from the 50s/60s, many of Sofia’s dresses look more like they belong to the late 40s than to the 70s except when she is with Katya in which she also wears dresses from the Hollywood glam (her dress from the bar reminds me of the iconic Marilyn Monroe dress), Goncharov and Andrei seem to dress like the people in the pictures of the bar so also the 40s and maybe late 30s, but the extras in most scenes look and dress in the 70s fashion (in the vendor scene there are a lot of hippie looking outfits, in the bar there is a lot of mini dresses and bell trousers).
The characters’ fashion is so well thought and planned to make you doubt when this character are actually living. They got stuck in that moment of their life (Sofia and her childhood trauma), or they are trying to emulate that era in some way (Katya wanting to have a picture perfect life she only truly saw through the movies of her childhood), or they are trying to go back in time (Goncharov wanting to go back in time to change his mistakes, but the mistakes he is trying to change are in his childhood; Andrei’s suit look really similar to the one his father and uncles are wearing in the picture he has at his house). Also, the characters connecting through their outfits, not just in color but also in the time their outfits are from. Sofia choosing a very 50s dress to go to the bar when she has decided to talk to Katya, both of them are wearing black and blue too, instead of a dress similar to the ball gown we saw her wear at the party in one of her first scenes. Andrei and Goncharov wear really similar suit during the entire movie, all are dark and beige tones, they are also very 40s looking (especially compared to the ones the other male characters wear). Finally, Katya and Goncharov are wearing very elegant clothes through the entire movie but they look kind of different, they don’t belong to the same decade: they are trying to live different lives together, but can’t really understand that they have a misunderstanding because their worlds look so similar and yet they are worlds apart.

How to Find the Perfect Business Suit for Women: A Style Guide
In the world of business, how you present yourself matters. Whether you're climbing the corporate ladder, attending high-powered meetings, or leading your own company, wearing a business suit for women that fits well and aligns with your personal style can make a powerful impression. But finding the perfect formal suit for women isn’t always easy. The right suit should not only look professional but also make you feel confident and comfortable.
In this blog, we’ll explore essential tips for women on how to choose the perfect business suit, from selecting the right fit to finding the best fabrics and colors.
1. Know Your Fit: Tailored for Success
The key to looking sharp in a business suit for women is getting the right fit. Unlike casual clothing, a business suit needs to be tailored to your body shape to give off a polished appearance.
Shoulders: The jacket’s shoulders should align perfectly with yours. A well-fitted shoulder creates a sharp, professional look.
Waist: The waistline of your jacket should create some definition, even if you prefer a looser fit. Avoid overly tight jackets, but also stay clear of those that look boxy.
Pant or Skirt Length: For pants, ensure that the hem just grazes the top of your shoes. If you’re opting for a skirt, the ideal length is just above or below the knee—flattering and professional. This is essential for creating a refined business formal women look.
2. Choose Fabrics Wisely: Comfort Meets Elegance
Fabric choice is crucial when selecting a formal suit for women. High-quality fabrics not only look better but also last longer and feel more comfortable throughout a busy workday.
Wool: Wool is a popular choice for business suits for women due to its durability, breathability, and luxurious feel. It's ideal for year-round wear and comes in various weights for different seasons.
Cotton Blends: Cotton suits are great for warmer climates. They provide breathability but may wrinkle more easily than wool. For an office suit for women, cotton blends offer a more relaxed feel while still maintaining a professional appearance.
Linen: While linen can be stylish and comfortable in summer, it tends to wrinkle easily, making it less ideal for formal business settings.
3. Select the Right Colors: Classic vs. Contemporary
The color of your suit can set the tone for how you're perceived in the workplace. For a business formal for women, choosing the right color is essential.
Classic Colors: Navy, black, and charcoal gray are timeless choices that work in any professional setting. These colors exude authority, professionalism, and dependability.
Modern Neutrals: If you want to break away from the norm, consider lighter neutrals like beige, camel, or soft gray for a contemporary, polished look.
Bold Hues: Deep jewel tones like burgundy, emerald, or royal blue can be great for women who want to add a pop of color without sacrificing professionalism.
4. Mix and Match: Versatility is Key
A versatile suit wardrobe can help you maximize your office suit for women collection. Start with a few core pieces and mix and match for different looks.
Blazers and Pants: Buy separate blazers and pants in neutral colors so you can create multiple combinations. A black blazer can easily pair with gray or navy pants, giving you more outfit options. This allows you to create both casual and business formal for women looks with ease.
Layering: Add versatility with blouses, turtlenecks, and button-down shirts that can be layered under your suit jacket. This will also allow you to incorporate a bit of your personal style through prints or colors.
5. Details Matter: Accessories to Elevate Your Look
Accessories can elevate your formal pant suit for ladies without overpowering your look. Keep it simple yet stylish.
Shoes: Invest in a pair of classic pumps or loafers. Ensure your shoes are polished and in good condition. Stick with neutral colors like black, nude, or navy.
Jewelry: Minimalist jewelry works best with business formal women outfits. Think simple studs, a classic watch, or a delicate necklace. Avoid anything too flashy or large.
Belts: A thin leather belt in a neutral shade can cinch your waist and add a finishing touch to your outfit.
6. Consider Your Body Type: Flattering Silhouettes
Different body types look best in different suit styles. Here are a few tips based on common body shapes:
Hourglass: Look for tailored jackets that accentuate your waist. Opt for pencil skirts or fitted trousers that complement your curves.
Apple Shape: Choose longer blazers with a structured fit to create balance. Straight-leg pants or A-line skirts can also flatter this body type.
Pear Shape: Highlight your upper body with fitted jackets. Go for wide-legged trousers or A-line skirts to balance proportions.
Conclusion
A well-chosen business suit for women can be a game-changer in your professional wardrobe, boosting your confidence and making you stand out in the best way possible. By paying attention to fit, fabric, color, and the finer details, you can create a powerful yet stylish formal suit for women look that’s ready for any business occasion. Remember, the perfect office suit for women is one that not only looks good but also feels great to wear, empowering you to take on the business world with confidence!

What are the best outfits for a professional corporate look?
When it comes to dressing for a professional corporate environment, selecting the right outfits can make a significant impact on how you are perceived in the workplace. Your attire can convey confidence, competence, and professionalism. Whether you are attending an important meeting, giving a presentation, or simply going about your daily tasks at the office, a well-chosen outfit can set the right tone. Here are some of the best outfits for a professional corporate look that will help you feel confident and make a great impression.
Classic Suit
A classic suit is a staple in any professional wardrobe and is often considered the gold standard for corporate attire. For both men and women, a well-tailored suit in neutral colors such as black, navy, or gray can create a sharp and sophisticated look. For men, pairing a suit jacket with matching trousers and a crisp white or light-colored shirt creates a clean and polished appearance. Women can opt for a pantsuit or a skirt suit, paired with a tailored blouse.
Investing in high-quality fabrics such as wool or a wool blend can ensure the suit maintains its shape and appearance over time. For added versatility, consider purchasing a three-piece suit that includes a matching vest, allowing you to mix and match depending on the formality of the occasion.
Blazers and Trousers
If you prefer a slightly more relaxed look while still maintaining professionalism, consider pairing a blazer with tailored trousers. This combination allows for a variety of styling options and can be easily adapted to suit different office environments. A structured blazer adds formality and sophistication, while tailored trousers in neutral or muted colors keep the outfit grounded in professionalism.
Men can wear a blazer with dress pants and a button-down shirt, adding a tie for a more formal look or going without one for a more casual office setting. Women have the flexibility to experiment with different blouse styles, such as a silk camisole or a collared shirt, tucked into high-waisted trousers for a flattering silhouette.
Pencil Skirts and Blouses
For women, pencil skirts paired with blouses are a timeless choice that balances femininity with professionalism. Pencil skirts that fall just above or below the knee in neutral colors like black, navy, or beige are versatile and appropriate for most corporate settings.
Pairing the skirt with a well-fitted blouse in a complementary color or subtle pattern can add personality to your outfit without compromising on professionalism. Consider blouses with details like ruffles, bows, or pleats for a touch of elegance. Adding a belt can also accentuate the waist and add a layer of sophistication to the ensemble.
Dress Shirts and Slacks
Dress shirts and slacks are foundational pieces in a corporate wardrobe for both men and women. A crisp, white dress shirt is a classic choice, but you can also explore other colors like light blue, pink, or subtle patterns such as pinstripes or checks to add variety.
Men can pair their dress shirts with tailored slacks and add a tie or pocket square for a polished look. Women can opt for slacks with a straight or slightly tapered leg and tuck in their dress shirt for a sleek, streamlined appearance. High-quality cotton or cotton blend fabrics are recommended for their breathability and comfort.
Sheath Dresses
Sheath dresses offer a simple yet elegant option for women seeking a professional corporate look. These dresses are typically fitted and fall just above or below the knee, making them ideal for a conservative office environment. Neutral tones like black, navy, and gray are always safe choices, but you can also experiment with jewel tones such as emerald or burgundy for a pop of color.
Pair a sheath dress with a tailored blazer for added formality, and accessorize with minimalistic jewelry to complete the look. Closed-toe pumps or flats are the perfect footwear choice to maintain the professional aesthetic.
Cardigans and A-Line Skirts
For a more business-casual approach that still exudes professionalism, consider pairing a cardigan with an A-line skirt. A fitted cardigan can provide warmth and a polished look, especially when buttoned up and layered over a blouse. A-line skirts are flattering on most body types and offer a comfortable alternative to pencil skirts.
Choose skirts in solid colors or subtle prints, and balance them with a neutral cardigan. This combination works well for women who prefer a bit more comfort while maintaining a professional appearance. Complete the outfit with ballet flats or low-heeled shoes for all-day comfort.
Accessories to Enhance the Professional Look
Accessories play a crucial role in completing your corporate attire and can add personality to your outfit without overpowering it. For men, a classic watch, cufflinks, and a tie in a complementary color can elevate a suit or blazer look. Women can opt for simple jewelry such as stud earrings, a delicate necklace, or a bracelet.
A structured handbag or a leather briefcase can also enhance your professional look. Ensure that your accessories are minimalist and understated to maintain the focus on your attire and overall appearance.
Footwear Choices for a Corporate Environment
The right footwear is essential for completing your professional corporate look. Men should choose classic dress shoes like oxfords or loafers in black or brown leather, depending on the color of their suit or trousers. Women have the option of wearing closed-toe pumps, kitten heels, or ballet flats, all of which provide comfort and professionalism.
When choosing footwear, consider the dress code of your workplace and opt for shoes that are both stylish and comfortable enough to wear throughout the day. High-quality leather shoes are a worthwhile investment, as they offer durability and a polished appearance.
Conclusion
Creating a professional corporate look is all about choosing outfits that convey confidence, competence, and a sense of style. Whether you prefer a classic suit, a combination of blazers and trousers, or more feminine options like pencil skirts and sheath dresses, the key is to select clothing that fits well and is appropriate for your work environment. By incorporating the right accessories and footwear, you can enhance your professional appearance and feel ready to take on any corporate challenge.

Old Money Fashion
Old Money Fashion: A Timeless Style
Old money fashion is a style that has been around for a long time. It is classic, elegant, and never goes out of style. People who come from families with old money often dress in a way that shows they value tradition, quality, and good taste. This style is not about showing off or wearing flashy clothes. Instead, it’s about looking neat, polished, and refined.
What is Old Money?
Old money refers to families who have had wealth for many generations. These families often live in large, beautiful houses and have a lot of influence in society. Unlike new money, which is wealth that has been recently earned, old money families have a long history of being wealthy. Because of this, they tend to have a certain way of dressing and behaving that reflects their long-standing wealth and status.
The Key Elements of Old Money Fashion
Old money fashion is all about simplicity and quality. The clothes are usually made from high-quality materials like wool, cotton, and silk. These materials are durable and last for a long time, which is important for people who want to invest in clothes that they can wear for many years.
The colors used in old money fashion are often neutral and muted. You will see a lot of navy blue, beige, white, and black. These colors are timeless and can be easily mixed and matched to create different outfits. Bright colors and bold patterns are usually avoided because they can look too flashy. Explore more Elements UNIK STYLZ
Classic Pieces in Old Money Fashion
There are a few key pieces that are commonly seen in old money fashion. One of the most important is the blazer. A blazer is a type of jacket that is often worn with dress pants or a skirt. It is a versatile piece that can be dressed up or down, depending on the occasion.
Another important piece is the button-down shirt. This shirt is usually made from cotton or silk and has buttons down the front. It can be worn with a blazer for a more formal look or with a sweater for a more casual look.
Sweaters are also a big part of old money fashion. Cashmere sweaters, in particular, are very popular because they are soft, warm, and luxurious. They can be worn over a button-down shirt or on their own for a simple, classic look.
For women, a tailored dress is a must-have. A tailored dress is one that fits the body perfectly and is often made from high-quality fabrics like wool or silk. It can be worn to a variety of events, from a formal dinner to a casual lunch.
For men, a well-fitted suit is essential. A suit is a set of clothes that includes a jacket and pants made from the same fabric. A good suit should fit the body well and be made from a high-quality material. It can be worn to work, to a wedding, or to any other formal event.
The Importance of Accessories
Accessories play a big role in old money fashion. However, they are always simple and understated. A classic leather belt, a pair of pearl earrings, or a silk scarf can add a touch of elegance to any outfit.
Watches are also a popular accessory in old money fashion. A classic watch with a leather band is timeless and can be worn for many years. It is not about having the most expensive watch, but about having one that is well-made and stylish.
Why Old Money Fashion is Still Popular
Old money fashion is still popular today because it is timeless. It is not about following the latest trends or trying to stand out. Instead, it is about looking your best in a simple, elegant way. People who dress in old money fashion are often seen as being confident, classy, and well put together.
This style is also sustainable. Because the clothes are made from high-quality materials and are designed to last, people who wear old money fashion do not need to buy new clothes all the time. This is good for the environment and for the wallet.
In conclusion, old money fashion is a classic style that will never go out of fashion. It is all about simplicity, quality, and elegance. Whether you come from an old money family or not, you can still embrace this timeless style and look your best every day.
