Tina’s pov of purgatory 1 is required reading for fans of ALL teams. So many iconic moments (making the tea originally for Bagi, eating maggots in the snow, taking charge and hiding with Missa and Rivers when Bolas was hunting for easy pickings, her entire conversation with Mariana, her ongoing hatred of Fit, scary dog privileges, the rivalry with Cellbit, GG ninja’s betrayal, I COULD KEEP GOING) are integral to understanding not just SoulFire but purgatory as a whole, all found in her streams.
Plus, the after purgatory party segments hold a special place in my heart. The meta conversations with Tubbo and Bad over what it was like being the most hated team and how it felt for Bad being “the most hated player.” Then later with everyone in the call just playing games while Tina draws the SoulFire co-leaders or joins in herself. The vibes are fantastic and were a great cooldown after the high stress event. I can’t recommend her pov enough.

idk. how I look knowing about 10,000 interesting conversations about Zuko and Azula and sibling abuse dynamics are permanently inaccessible and implausible because any insinuation that Azula ever exhibited abusive behavior will get me 10,000 people in my inbox asking me why I hate her:

The thing about Charles that most enrages me, vis-à-vis his plotlines and development, is that his crimes and his punishments are mostly entirely disconnected. He gets comeuppances all the time, but only occasionally are they a consequence of him being Bad, as opposed to just being annoying—or, sometimes, just being an easy target. And then sometimes he does or says something utterly heinous and the narrative gives him nothing but a slap on the wrist. Hawkeye and BJ (and sometimes the entire camp!) will torment him for minor, petty things, like destroying his French horn because he was bad at playing it. But the things he said to Margaret in the supply room in Mail Call Three were so vile that the scene is usually cut from syndicated airings. And what does he get for it? She jabs him with an elbow and pushes him out of the room and then nothing bad happens to him for the entire rest of the episode.
I have a whole half-written essay on the utterly nonsensical way Charles’ bigotry is portrayed on the show—the way it had to be portrayed, really, in order to make the character function—but this is the single worst result of that whole mess, to me. Because this mismatch between actions and consequences affects all the other characters, too. If Hawkeye, and by extension the narrative itself, gets angrier at Charles for snoring than for yelling about keeping his family’s bloodline pure (not to mention being racist against Max—you know, Hawkeye’s supposed fucking friend?), then that says something about both the protagonist and the show. Something extremely unflattering, to put it lightly.

So many of these tropes bug me but I think the worst is the c!Quackity woobification. So many c!fiances fics basically reduce his character to an abuse survivor in need of saving, painting him as timid and toothless, which feels so disrespectful and also boring as hell... like bro if you're gonna write him at all don't erase the fact that he's capable of seriously heinous shit 💀 don't do my nightmare man like that come on
on one hand I get that people would like to see him be coddled and loved on the other it becomes concerning when that's all there is ever written to him

What is skrael sous vide? ( hihi dream ^^)
(from this wip meme; thank you for the ask!)
oh, skrael sous vide is one of my favorite concepts: ye olde hotsprings episode!! (part 1/1 billion)
i've had the hc for a long time of early-days skrael walking in on bellroc bathing in a hotspring. it establishes their cultural differences; gets bellroc good and flustered (top tier imaginary scenario); it also sets up an excuse to let me expose a lot of self-indulgent worldbuilding, explaining WHY they got so flustered (it's not being seen naked). but walking in on them was a genuine accident, even if it sets off several of their ridiculous ancient victorian hangups. he'd only seen one once or twice, before! there aren't many in the area bellroc grew up in, but more than that. plus i enjoy the thought that they just have a knack for finding them. let them be comfy! my continued cartoon side villain agenda.
so. anyway, after some time passes, after they patch things up some: they're roaming around again, and it's getting cooler out, and they've found. well. okay, he's kind of a jackass. but—they do like having him around. he's funny, he knows fucking magic!!, he's a huge bitch sometimes and sometimes weirdly generous. he looks so strange and other but he's such a person beneath that. they're not stupid, even in those days; they know he's cold, that he's cold-themed, they know his wrists and ankles or the break in his leg gets sore. so the next time they find a hotspring, they invite him to come in with them.
but what happens when you put a frozen thing in warm water?
>:)c

definitely the funniest thing izzy stans do is be like “we’re just minding our own business over here” as if they didn’t dogpile a charity zine for including an incredibly lukewarm meta about how izzy is an antagonist

I'm regularly alarmed by the amount of slack people will cut a middle-aged man composed entirely of red flags. And I don't mean understanding that nobody is just evil and people are complex and having compassion and such. I don't mean finding them interesting or compelling. I don't even mean the tongue-in-cheek self-aware "He has never done anything wrong in his entire life." I get the joke, honest.
I mean putting their suffering (usually as a result of their own actions) above that of the people they have hurt or are actively still hurting. I mean insisting they're actually sweet guys, they're just misunderstood. I know it's not doing any actual harm, I know the difference between fiction and reality. I don't think it's unethical or dangerous to do this, I just think it's bad analysis.
It's not just fictional men either. The professor who takes advantage of his students. The unhappy dad who's totally going to leave his wife any day now to marry his 20 year old girlfriend. Every writer who gets praised for a wish fulfillment novel where his self-insert is saved by a pretty young muse who really gets him and has no motivation beyond solving all his problems.
"But he's sad!" Bitch he's an adult. It's not your job to bail him out of his shitty life.
It's funny because I created an OC specifically as an antagonist/inciting incident for another character. He's an arrogant, patronizing bastard with awful judgment and a questionable attitude toward medical consent. I find him interesting as a character, but the response from other people was "daddy..." and I was like oh my God no. He is not daddy. He is not babygirl. He is not a really good guy underneath it all. 90% of his tragic backstory is his own fault.
And I love this character! I use him for text role-playing and he's so much fun. But he's horrible. He's horrible on purpose. Being horrible is central to his character. If you meet a man like this in the wild, fucking run.

„do not woobify that man“ thank you. just thank you. people think ferrari pacified him while he was still STILL being that bitch at aston martin to the very end. he’s not hamilton’s dopey sidekick and if he had hamilton’s car he would have actually won a race this season bc the red bull brat who refused to apologise for winning is still in there. it drives me crazy, how everyone has made up a version of seb that does not and has never existed. also that hunger drives max and seb sees it, he lived it, and more importantly he loves it. loves it so much he’s walking away from the sport bc it’s no longer being satisfied. anyway. end rant lol
I actually can't talk about his time at ferrari bc I get mad or upset, like. Look how they massacred my boy but I'm being 100% serious. You have to be a cunt to win a WDC, and he WAS.
