Garage inc metallica playlist
Tumblr media
Īnd sure, you’re going to see a lot of Garage Inc. Honourable mention to their performance as one of the backing bands at the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame 25th Anniversary concert in 2009 where they got to play covers with Ozzy Osbourne, Lou Reed and Ray Davis. We have ignored the Kirk/Rob cover jams from their WorldWired Tour, since for every example where they do something kind of awesome, they completely trash another song. Nor would many of them have ever listened to Nick Cave or some of the other artists below. There came to be a bit of a ‘Metallica effect’ too for these bands: there is no way bands like The Misfits or Diamond Head would be as recognised by metal fans today had the biggest metal band in the world not covered their tunes. They are fond of off-beat covers too, rarely choosing the biggest hit by their favourite bands and looking for moments where they can add their own slant to it. Their earliest gigs included more than one Diamond Head cover and indeed, many of their tour cycles have featured a ‘tribute’ section in the set where they rotate through their cover arsenal, paying respect to those who came before them. There is a wealth of Metallica covers to choose from, especially since they collated all the early recordings on the excellent Garage, Inc. We told you about the most monumental covers of Metallica songs, but Metallica are a pretty capable cover band in their own right.

Oh, yeah, also saw Ghost opening for the boys - I’ve been wanting to see them live for quite some time and I finally got to do that 😍 Also, Cardinal Copia kept coming to my side of the stage, pointing at me and posing ‘cause he saw I was trying to take a good picture and wanted to help me out 😂
Loved them, they’re even better live 🤘🏻

Twickenham ritual review
So the mini ritual in Twickenham last night was absolutely brilliant! As usual, Cardi and the ghouls knocked it out of the park (stadium :P), and despite not being huge on Metallica their performance was still mind-blowing. Respect where it's due, those lads can still put on a spectacular performance.
I'd never heard of Bokassa before but for a first opening act they weren't half bad and I'll definitely be checking on more of their stuff; Gave us major Evil Scarecrow vibes, for anyone who's listened to them before, and definitely a good choice to get everyone warmed up.
Way up top the sound wasn't amazing, the vocals were definitely muddy in places and the instruments blurred together with the echoes, but the view of the whole stage while Ghost played made up for it. Half the set I spent standing at the railing of the balcony with another ghost fan just rocking out to our hearts content until we were politely asked to move by security. Fair enough, stepped up to the empty seats at the back to continue living our best Ghost lives 'while the band wrapped up.
We definitely agreed they made excellent use of the time slot they got, throwing in all the favourites with a few staples and a couple of instrumentals. Square Hammer, Dance Macabre, Rats, Cirice, Faith, Mummy Dust, Year Zero, Ritual, Helvetesfönster, Ashes to open, and Miasma... I think that's all but my post-ritual memory is a little hazy.
All in all a fabulous ritual, as usual. Cardi and the ghouls stage antics were entertaining and charismatic as ever, even if all the talk of ass wobbling and taint tickling went over the confused heads of some 'pure' Metallica fans present. Can't please everyone I guess but we had a great time, even in the cheap seats! Already saving up for the next one, whenever that may be!
