At the start of book1 Pizza was allot more straight forward and thought about conflict on a very personal scale, sure he fought for others and was aided in tern but at the end of the day it was always His war, his to Fight and Win His way this attitude shifted through book1 but never completely left, During book2 he felt Irritatingly mortal and the occasional sense of dejavu became a near constant sensation, When Pizza was put on ice in his core was cemented this sense of mortality... so since thawing he makes a conscious decision to be far more weary of words, to avoid being tricked but also for its own sake, To listen to peoples silly things, the things he would normally care little for, intent to make the most of every moment spent with those around him, Sometimes even permitting something genuine to slip through his normal deluge of swagger and sarcasm, And in some ways thawing has been reassuring, if the sky didnt fall on everyone without him then perhaps theres hope for them yet and maybe he neednt bare its weight alone. still a tad peeved about getting fridged though... and never turning his back on a brooding teenager again! the Pizza has been iced once and no one wants double defrosted pizza, that sounds gross,

When Pizza was on ice a few people had a crack at it, A crew of Gnomes led by Airheart that he'd helped find Resettlement and employment considered a few ideas, Heat ray! (discarded for fear it would just cook him inside the ice) Repurposed chickencow rotisserie! (couldnt get a bonfire permit from Sir Curity) Heat blanket? (local animal kept stealing them, and no one volunteered to wrestle the lizard to get them back) The gnomes stopped after the Rose instituted a minimum height requirement for poking the ice cube,

Alz ein stopped by a couple times she considers Pizza a rather odd shrub but fun to be around, even if he had kept mispronouncing "Atealan" as "Atelean" she moved the popsicle a couple times to give Pizza a change of scenery (Oaklore Keep had a good scare when the ice cube vanished for a week without notice)

Tomix couldnt find the ice cube,

Aegis feared that to much magical habidashery might cause unforeseen problems dew to Pizzas lack of wizardry aptitude, so opted for a slow defrost and spent his efforts ensuring that both body and mind remained intact in the meantime an unseen warden of the frozen goods,

Captain Rhubarb visited once, poured some root bear on the ice and went home, like a hero

While in frozen slumber Pizza dreamed of conversations with friends that never happened, of dieing alone, victory and duties left unfulfilled undercut with the laughter of a damned titan normal stuff like that...

Pizza also uses the time on ice as an excuse to feign madness on a semi regular basis, and for weeks after thawing pretended every person he met was the 1st person he'd seen since thawing, "What year is it! when did everyone start hating flowers? and why are the Coins different!?" he claims such behavior to be a tactical decision to gather information and lull potential adversaries into a false sense of security... also he thinks its funny... mostly the latter...

Hero appreciation question again because I'm obsessed with these actually! How did your df Hero change after their time in the ice? Has it impacted their ability to trust others, their level of patience or impulsivity, their confidence and self-esteem? Were they conscious at any point in the ice, and if so, what did they think about? Did anyone besides their dragon try to get them out? How did their relationships change as a result of everything that happened?

Hey so uh I don't remember if you found a third to Huohua and Hana's team and I just wanted to jump in real quick with a suggestion that I think is around the same age as them-

Nara Ensui

My reasons are thus:

1. While the Ino-Shika-Cho trio is a big thing, clearly not all Yamanakas/Naras/Akimichis can be in one of those cells, and based on the naming convention, it seems to mainly apply to the clan heirs/main family, probably for political relations reasons

2. Ensui (seemingly) wears eyeliner and I feel like that should make him pivotal to the plot

I did actually choose someone to be their third on the team !! They're getting stuck with Kabuto bc I find him fascinating and it'll be a fun way to get Houhua dropped onto Orochimaru's radar

However Ensui is such a fun choice too, I might have to put him in my back pocket for later use. Ur so right, any character w eyeliner immediatley deserves to be elected for plot significance

I will say, I think it'd be so fun if he was added and we did play with like. There weren't enough kids to make an even number of ino-shika-choi teams. Do u think he'd feel left out? How do you think he'd be chosen to be the one excluded that year? So many fun thoughts ,,

Might have to play with that later actually, I like the crumbs of that narrative. Idk if Houhua is gonna pass the chunin exam yet so if he doesn't, maybe his second team can include him? Hana would pass for sure, and Kabuto's whole thing is that he fails it every year.

Actually quick side, note: the fact that this is possibly Kabuto's first chunnin exam (how old is he again ?? I don't fucking remember but not that old) is interesting too, he won't know what he's going into like he does other years

While I'm here and talking ab the au, take this comment from the vault fic chapter where I posted about the au:

I absoloutley think Jun and Kisame should get to know eachother for sure, itd be so fun !! Idk how exactly, but if nothing else Kisame seems to be great at handling standoffish ice prince bitches (*cough* Itachi *cough*) so he should be surprisingly good w interacting w Jun !

Which also brings up the fact that like. Jun and Itachi interacting would be the funniest thing ever. Because before Itachi hearing that Houhua has some mystery relationship w this guy, they're probably just standing next to eachother in dead silence (it's very peaceful)

But then Jun gets potentially rather violently recruited into Akatsuki, so now he's being very frosty (they are still standing together in dead silence)

And then by the time he melts a little, Itachi has noted the weirdness w Houhua. And now he's being super frosty and incredibly passive aggressive. And also possibly plotting a silent murder.

But Jun has no fucking clue who Houhua even IS so he literally has nothing he can say to explain this shit to calm Itachi down. And also does not care enough to even try to explain. And also Itachi is Itachi and isn't explaining why he himself is mad anyways so Jun has no fucking way of knowing why he's even mad. Or even telling that he is mad bc hes shit at reading people

I do not think that Itachi would make a conscious plot to pretend to be in a relationship with Kisame. But I do think it'd be really fucking funny if Itachi, completely without thinking it through, blurts out that he's in a relationship w Kisame w some very vague (and possibly a little manic) only half-thought idea of making Houhua jealous.

Itachi immediately regrets it (his face is still dead blank and unreadable, but he's screaming internally) but refuses to backtread bc that's embarrassing. He has never admitted to a mistake in his life, and he is not going to start here. (Kisame is going to RUTHLESSLY make fun of him for all of this later, and he will deserve it)

Itachi also blurted this out like. Totally unprompted and probably in the middle of a battle. No one (especially not Houhua) fucking asked. So Houhua, very very confused, goes "????? Good for you ???????? You still murdered our entire clan tho so um ?? I'm gonna keep fighting u? If thats ok?"

I THINK ITD BE SUPER INTERESTING IF HE DID ACTUALLY? Hmm I might have to think ab that one. The Phantom Rider, Sonic's "hero" status, and Sonic's love for his friends: a poorly put-together analysis

so, ive seen a non-zero amount of people say that Sonic taking on the alter ego of the Phantom Rider is out of character for him, and my knee-jerk reaction was to disagree (though, im biased, because i adore the Phantom Rider). but then i thought about the why of it all -- why does it not feel out of character for Sonic to disguise himself to cause chaos?

part 1: Sonic will break the rules

well, first of all, Sonic doesnt really care too much about being a hero. he helps people because he wants to, not because its expected of him. weve all seen those satbk cutscenes reposted to hell and back, so let me be the millionth to do so

when Merlina tells Sonic that, upon taking Caliburn, he would become the villain in everyones eyes, he shrugs it off. and even later, when Gawain tries to talk him down from battling Merlina, Sonic dismisses the idea that hes doing this out of some kind of chivalry or duty, that he fights because he wants to.

there are many other instances of Sonic not really caring about rules or social conventions, and gladly breaking them if it means he can save people (dude literally runs from cops in sa2), but its never directly stated as explicitly as it is in satbk.

so, Sonic doesnt care about being a hero, and doesnt care about being a villain in other peoples eyes if he knows hes doing whats right. youd think with this facet of his character, him actively disguising himself as the Phantom Rider would be antithetical to this point, right? if he doesnt care about being seen as a villain, then he shouldnt have to mask his identity. its a fair conclusion to come to, but it also ignores what i think is one of Sonic's core personality traits;

part 2: Sonic loves his friends a lot

its strange to me that not a lot of people bring this up, because he does! from "and Amy... take care of yourself," to "I'll have you smiling by the end of this," Sonic just genuinely loves his friends to death, and doesnt want to sabotage them.

if he runs out there to cause chaos during the clean sweepstakes, completely unmasked? everyone who knows a single thing about Sonic will start to assume bad things about the Restoration. just because Sonic has good intentions doesnt mean hes above the rules, and acting like he is can put people he cares about (namely Jewel and the Diamond Cutters) at the mercy of public opinion.

he cant act like hes above the rules, especially when hes directly associated with the Restoration (even if hes not a part of it) during the clean sweepstakes.

(id also like to point out that here, Sonic doesnt even consider it a bad thing to be completely and utterly chaotic and disruptive at first; Tails has to remind him its a bad idea)

and understandably so! we see how everyone reacts to seeing Sonic as the Phantom Rider, especially Tangle -- its a tough pill to swallow, especially without all the context involved. to an outsider, it looks like Sonic is just trying to sabotage the clean sweepstakes because hes being a sore loser (or, really, any other number of malicious reasons)

but, really, i think that the point im trying to make is summed up best by Amy and Sally (even though its in Archie)

thats just not how they do things. they dont want to cause necessary chaos or danger just for the hell of it, and they certainly dont want to associate the Restoration with that sorta thing -- people look to the Restoration for hope, and while Sonic is associated with it during the clean sweepstakes, his hands are a bit tied. itd be a total dick move for him to basically throw his friends (and especially Jewel) under the bus like that, and he knows it.

Sonic may not care about his reputation in other peoples eyes, but he cares greatly about how his actions affect his friends.

part 3: the conclusion

its easy to assume that, based on how lax Sonic is with rules and social conventions, him disguising himself just to cause a distraction for Amy and Tails to get attention off of them would be out of character. but, based on the circumstances, i think that it makes enough sense given the context for him to take the route that he does.

IMAGINE youre in the waiting room for a doctors appointment when kenan Thompson walks in and after checking in he sits down in the empty seat right next to yours, even though the waiting room is almost empty and theres plenty of other seats available. "hi," he says, "im kenan Thompson". you already knew who he was, but now itd be kind of awkward to say that so for some reason you pretend you dont know him. then he keeps talking to you, particularly about his various medical issues and living with GERD and the various medications hes tried and all the doctors hes had to talk to and how none of them really seemed to help, and how nothing has ever really helped and its making him pretty miserable and he just feels really sick all the time you know? like it hurts. heartburn really hurts. you dont know what to say so you offer him a tums from your purse and he laughs and says "no im okay but thanks. wow youre really nice huh?" yeah i guess so, you reply awkwardly. yourew starting to feel kind of uncomfortable but he just keeps talking andhonestly hes very polite and seems very friendly so you dont really want to cut him off. maybe this is like a release for him? maybe this is like therapy for him like he just needed to get some stuff off his chest. its fine right. "i just dont know how much longer i can keep working when i feel like this," kenan tells you, a pained look on his face. "its making every day a nightmare. it feels like my chest is on fire. and i feel so so sicki to my stomach, you know? it makes my whole head feel sick. my whole body. i just want to throw up, so i gag, but i can't." you still dont know what to say. you ask where he works and he smiles mischeviously, a strange look in his eyes, and says, "oh, you know. just around." you think thats a really weird response, but ok. after a bit longer, the nurse finally comes out and calls your name, and you get up maybe a bit too quickly to follow her and kenan grabs you by the arm to stop you, and he winks and says "hey, ill call you, ok?" youre pretty sure you didn't give him your number but the nurse is waiting so you just smile thinly and nod and then the doors close and Kenan's gone. the rest of the appointment goes by smoothly, and youre relieved to see hes no longer in the waiting room when you come back out.

before you go home, you do a couple of errands and pick up ingredients for dinner and when you come home, a few of your neighbors are hanging around outside the apartment building murmuring to each other, but they dont pay any attention to you so you dont pay any attention to them. you go upstairs to your apartment. you put the groceries in the fridge, take a shower, and then after youre dressed you get back up and you go out to the kitchen to start making dinner. you turn on the tv to watch while youre cooking. youve on,y just started getting everything back out of the fridge when you hear a reporer on the tv very loudly and clearly say: SNL ALUM KENAN THOMPSON KILLED IN STANDOFF WITH NEW YORK POLICE. THOMPSON WAS THE LEAD SUSPECT IN THE SERIES OF BRUTAL MURDERS TERRORIZING THE EAST COAST. your jaw drops, youre barely listening as she goes on with more details. a picture of him appears on the tv. he looks the same as he did a few hours ago, smiling kindly but with that odd look in his eyes again, like he knew something nobody else did. a wave of nausea hits you and you run off to the bathroom and throw up, coughing. you dont make dinner that night. you just go to bed, tossing and turning all night. the next day, every snl cast member you can think of is posting IN MEMORIAM for kenan on their twitters and blueskies and facebooks, which you guess makes sense, but you still feel kind of weird looking at it. you cant believe you met him just a few hours before he died. you really have to wonder what he was doing there. was he really a murderer? was he trying to find potential victims there? did he think you would be an easy target? or was he really just being friendly, and it was all just some big, horrible mistake? all these thoughts are making your head spin. you dont know who to talk to about this. if you told someone, would they even believe you? you dont know what to do.

eventually, you decide to make a reddit post on r/LiveFromNewYork. hey all, yyou type, i just heard the news about kenan and i literally saw him a few hours before his death he was talking to me at the doctors office. he would NOT leave me alone. but he seemed really sweet. have any of you ever met him before and what was he like??? i just cant believe this even happened its insane. almost as soon as you click post, youre banned from the subreddit. you stare at your screen, shocked. then you get a message. u/SNLFAN22173894 messages you jsaying: hey. dont talk about that in there. you dont want them to know that you know. what? you reply. who?? what are you talking about? they reply: its not safe. they could be watching. here, meet me at [they give you a random address]. its an old sandwich place i used to go to all the time. nobody will be there. you insist: who the hell are they and why would they be watching us? they reply: obviously they means the SNL cast members. jesus christ. youre still confused, and say: what you think lorne michaels is running a group of secret serial killers? thats kind of antisemetic. they reply: what? no. look just meet me there tomorrow ok? at 8 am. you say: 8 AM? google maps say its going to take me 3 hours to get there. i cant get up at 5 AM for that. you dont get a response. you spend the rest of the day in a daze, unable to get yourself to do much of anything, just thinking about tomorrow. who the hell is messaging you? what the fuck is going on? is lorne michaels evil? is SNL a front for a cult or something? well they are comedians. entertainers have the kind of personalities that would be susceptible to being in cults, you guess. but still. none of this makes any sense at all. unable to find the motivation to make dinner tonight either, you just order a pizza. you go to bed early, dreading waking up at 5 AM the next day. dreading all of it.

the next day, you get up extra early, get dressed, make some toast not even buttered and leave.1 you dont drive normally but you dfo have a car so you take it and start driving to the supposed sandwich shop. thankfully traffic is not so bad since everyones asleep, but its still pretty dark out. the sky is slowly lighting up dark blue as you make your way there. finally, 3 miserable hours later, google maps says YOUR DESTINATION IS ON THE RIGHT, but you turn right and then have to quickly aswerve left agaiun because theres no entrance there, just a chain-link fence and an empty lot. you park on the gravel outside the lot, getting out of your car. not sure what to to do, you go to doublecheck the address the reddit user gave you but suddenly your inbox is empty. theres nobody there. confused, you try to search for their username, but you cant remember the numbers at the end. you jus stand there blankly, looking between the barren, empty land and yiour phone. "hello," a voice says fgrom behind you. you jump, turning around to see an elderly man, hunched over from age, looking up at you. you hadn't even heard him approach. um, hi, you say nervously. do you live around here? "no," he says. "but i know why youre here." you do?? oh thank god. somebody who knows what the fuck is going 1on around here. "youre here t o pay respects to that little boy who died, right?" kenan? "no, no! and dont even say that horrid mans name. no. a little boy used to live here, yes, right here, in a flat above a sandwich shop." suddenly the old man is british. "im trying to tell the story, if youd STOP interrupting. yes, kenan Thompson murdered him. god, youre ruining the suspense here. an old man meets you early in the morning trying to tell you a mysterious and haunting story and you just interrupt him? theres supposed to be a flow here. theres edginess here. its still a bit dark, youre in a new place, you dont know whats going on…youre ruining this experience for yourself, you know." youre starting to doubt this man could operate a computer, much less make a reddit account and even less so be able to send you messages on it. so are you the guy who told me to meet him there? yyou ask warily. This person really should just post their content on its own because it's freaking good. Yet again another post from my mysterious followers, this time it's Terminator-inspired

Target terminated.

After this inscription appeared before his eyes, all meaning of further existence disappeared. It completed it's mission. The body of the murdered man was still swaying, but his heart had already stopped and his brain was dead.

The terminator's pistol clanged to the floor, its owner quickly turned away and walked out the door. Having scanned the corridor and the bodies lying in it, the machine made sure that none of the bodies were alive. The Terminator walked past them, leaving bloody prints on the floor and kicking down the spent cartridges and weapons.

It's chest was riddled with bullet marks, and silvery metal was visible in several places. The neck was torn open, and through the skin one could see the servos that set the Adam's apple in motion. Short hair was burned, in some places the bullets tore out shreds of skin, exposing the metal of the skull, one of the eyes leaked out, from under it, in the depths of the socket, a high-resolution lens looked at the world, the red LED was either decreasing or increasing. The measured hum of the servos could be heard as it once again stepped forward in a row. The thigh had been torn open with a knife, and the inside of the metal servos was covered in blood.

A bare foot stepped on the broken glass of a broken door, a fragment pierced the skin, but the terminator continued to walk. The fragments crunched in a heap underfoot. It went outside. There was no one around, a police car was parked at the running board with its flashing lights on. The terminator's subtle hearing analyzed the surrounding sounds, eliminated unnecessary noise and highlighted the main thing - the approaching sirens. More police.

It retained 80% of its combat readiness, internal systems were easily damaged, and damaged systems were already being replaced with spare ones. It could have easily dealt with them, but now there was no point in doing so, the target was dead anyway, alongside the collateral. It walked closer to the lone police car that awaited its backup, opened the door through the broken driver's window and threw the policeman's lifeless body onto the sidewalk. Terminator took off his uniform jacket and cap and took his place. Almost instantly, the vast databases gave it all the information about the car, it turned the key in the ignition, turned off the flashing lights and siren, drove back and immediately disappeared.

From a distance, a man in a police jacket and cap in the driver's seat could easily pass for a law enforcement officer, but not up close. Its clothes and car seat were soaked in blood, the blood pumping systems were still working, but recovery would take time. And it had more than enough time.

The radio crackled and a female voice called out the number written on the hood of his car and his name. An unfamiliar name that was now written on his jacket. Cyborg took off the microphone and brought it to itd mouth. The voice that came out was completely different from its usual voice, it was indistinguishable from the voice of the owner of the car. The dispatcher did not notice the difference.

The Terminator reported that he was stuck in a traffic jam on the other side of the city and hung up the microphone. The miniature map in front of the terminator's eyes showed that it was already close to destination, so it turned into an alley, stopped the car and got out of it. Machine walked the rest of the way, staying in the shadows of buildings.

It's target was a small new office building at the end of the street. Having reached it, the machine without hesitation broke down the window and climbed inside.

Having completed mission, its new mission was to return to the Skynet repair base for diagnostics and reprogramming. But this base, like its owner Skynet, had not yet appeared; it needed to arrive at the place of the new deployment, take position and wait. This building was the site of his new location. It was designed and built by people sent into the past, by defectors, servants of Skynet. Built specifically to store machines like it.

And terminator already knew that it would complete this mission successfully, because it saw itself in the future.

Self-fulfilling prophecies. Skynet built the building in the past because it learned about it in the future. The Terminator had to arrive at the designated location for further storage because it had already done so. Such contradictions could make a human’s head spin, but the terminator saw and understood the entire chain of events from the beginning to the very end.

so i had this thought that i considered doing in my free time but then my free time evaporated and im confused where did my free time go.

anyway. i was going to make a list of all the abilities on the black whale 1 and how many of them could help in a fight against hisoka.

aka who chrollo could steal from.

(this is assuming chrollo is playing convert hands with hinrigh and has gone to the upper levels)

2nd prince camilla's Cat's Name. this. this ability right now. should be chrollo's number one priority once he finds out. and camilla is an easy target. this is a one hit kill with hisoka. if he fuckin steals this ability and uses it, that is gg immediately.

9th prince Halkenburg's Possession Arrow. now you see. THAT. is a spicy meatball. if chrollo can hit the shot, that would be insane. however, depending on if being honest is a condition of using double face, then it will not work. bcs all hisoka has to do is dodge and chrollo dies. but if chrollo is fast enough he could probably hit it and it would only cost one of the remaining troupe members. itd be really fuckin funny if it was illumi though

4th prince tserreidnich's ability. we don't know what it is yet but since tserreidnich is so new to nen he could be a complete dumbass and fulfill chrollo's conditions no problem. though it would depend on how parallel future works if chrollo steals the ability in the altered future or if tserreidnich can even do anything to prevent it. or if parallel future is even his ability because there is a juicy theory out there that it's not.

AND! chrollo would only have to lie once. and that's an opportunity for a very cool scar >:3

hinrigh's Biohazard. this ability could be very useful. however, chrollo will likely never get this ability bcs hinrigh is busy at the moment u-u. that being said, having diversions in a fight against hisoka has proven to be very helpful. consider: grenade squirrels.

yokotani's Battle of Wits. if im not mistaken this is only able to be activated within a certain area of the ship. but it is supremely busted. indestructible objects that can 'remove' a target from the vicinity could be extremely strong. probably not the best against hisoka? bcs hisoka is very slippery and gummy. so if he can get hisoka into that base, it would be great for holding him in place.

those are ones i think that would be useful to chrollo in a fight. there are more in the black whale one but things like Benjamin Baton, Bloody Mary and fuckin. Body and Soul are borderline useless to him. (thats a lot of b names at once lol). Room would also be useless since it requires a set space and is a landmine type. he can't control hisoka that much.

its honestly very hard to know what causes a blogs termination- even more so when its not urs or someone u actually know. still, after this day-long all-night vigil of self-reflection, ive tried to come to some sort of an answer

a year ago, most-american-ever's blog was deleted. it mightve happened for a number of reasons: mistaken for spam, the odd tumblr glitch, was secretely a russian spy masquarading as an american, broke TOS on another blog, and many more. whatever happened there is one thing we can be mildly sure of and its that they didnt manually deactivate, and whatever offed their blog i triggered it. nothing can change that.

and nothing can change the year i spent convinced id pushed someone over the edge and sent the one hatemail that finally made them think this site was no longer worth it. who takes a barely 100 notes post and calls the op a loser to their face on it? i did. i never saw myself as the kind of person who would. and yet, i did. i didnt even know the lore myself. if theres a babar poseur on this site, its me.

and im not uniquely evil for it. there is nothing that sets me apart from you, that makes me more capable of harm and less thoughtful. you are also one lapse of judgement away, one sleep deprived moment, one badly worded joke, away from hurting someone else with your actions and words outside of your intent. we must make efforts together to keep each other in check and remember that behind the screen we are talking to a real person. it only takes one click to post something you can never take back.

and yet today filled me with hope. i was hesitant to organize this as the offender in this situation it felt innapropriate of ME of all people to center myself like this. and honestly i was worried itd look like i was taking the piss and just having a laugh about my misdeed- "they deactivated over babar, how funny."

hello! the 16+ on my profile is more of a content rating, NOT a desired audience rating. in my eyes i had always viewed warnings such as 16+ to be for raunchier stuff but nothing explicit, and 18+ to be for the explicit stuff, so i had just made the assumption that since my stuff is raunchy and not explicit itd make sense to slap a 16+ content warning on my page. however this topic is rather nuanced, and you can argue some of my art treads too closely to being "explicit," so, if i am wrong on this, im more than willing to update my abouts. this account has only ever been a place for me to share my art, and i havent really stopped to think about who might be watching enough as i generally try to avoid thinking about these accounts as much as i can. and for that negligence i do apologize

on a watership, there are a few layers of differing severity for an attack to land on: below the waterline, above the waterline, the masts, and the powder room. here, ive outlined how immediately fucked you are based on what gets hit. - mast, whatever, steering is screwed (also goes for the rudder, youre not done for but your steering is.) the bottom part specifically is highlighted because thats the part most likely to hit the deck and deal additional damage when it does - above the waterline, way worse as that is a hole in the ship itself. structural integrity is down but overall, it's not the end of the world and you can limp without really limping until you get to port to fix it, and things might collapse from above but youre still in good shape - below the waterline is... obvious. while it can be patched, someone has to be there to do so within a few minutes or youre going to sink where you are, and the larger the hole, the less time you have. a badly wounded ship means fewer fighters as you need to dedicate the bodies to fix the issue before everyone goes under - powder room. if you've got cannons you have a powder room which means an entire central spot full of explosives <3 one hit here and you're looking at a catastrophic event. best case scenario, you lose half the ship in a kaboom.

now, of course, not a lot of people are going to be aiming for the powder room, as a captured ship is a solid 40k in your pocket, 20k after repairs, and since most crews dont even number a hundred, thats a hefty sum in your pocket post-sale, or you can increase your own sea strength for higher payloads along the way. worth it to box the crew and save the boat.

airships, on the other hand, seem to have that in reverse, in which the hull itself is mostly expendable as long as you have the mode of locomotion and standing room. the integrity of an airship comes down to how it floats and how it propels. traditionally on that front, there are balloon types and sail types with engines. - with balloons, popping that balloon will result in the entire airship sinking. the balloon is "below the waterline." - with a sail-and-engine, the engine is akin to the powder room, a OHKO spot

THEREFORE

to roll this well, the dice master in question would need to roll a die per cannon. if the ship being attacked takes up 10 squares and you have 5 cannons, each cannon would have a chance of dealing damage. the cannonballs should be able to pierce about 50 feet, so the closer you are the further the cannonball can go. then you have to consider if the cannons are on the gunwhales or gundeck for the elevation, and the further they are away, the more likely theyll hit the next layer down, though the power is also reduced.

nat 20 roll on the cannon that's facing the powder room will cause an explosion. anything less won't as it's difficult to ignite powder with a lump of iron.

so basically: roll for each cannon involved, calculate based on map distance, account for any armor that the ship may have (plate the sides), and you can make the ships themselves into players in a battle, and each table player can handle a part of it, from steering to loading and firing, etc.

grappling and boarding are also a part of this, but i havent gotten to that yet. itd shrink the focus lens from the ships (environmental) to the decks (stage) though
