Inspired by: "Paint Me A Birmingham" by Tracy Lawrence and when William Ross was sick in the hospital from January 19-22, 2009 with his hypoglycemia.

"Draw Me A Healthy Child"

He came in the room,

pencils in hand

Drawing patients that were sick

With every stroke, he brought to life

The big smile of the patient, the twinkle in their eye

I asked him what other kind of scenes he'd draw?

He says for a patient's smile, he draw them anything

"Could you draw us a healthy child?

Make it look like he is happy

A little color all on his face

Chasin' his new dog all around

Putting their out in the front yard

B4 his health made it real hard

For a while he could be a kid

If you could paint us a healthy child"

He looked at us, un-der-stand-ing

And took some paper from a bag down by his feet

Picked up pencils & said to him, "Son, just where in this picture would you like to be?"

We said, "If there's any way you can, could you draw health back into his face again?"

"Could you draw us a healthy child?

Make it look like he is happy
