✮ – Often times most of his missions' success depended on previous intel, on how long he had been staking out with an M24 in hand, looking through that scope as if his life depended on it. It didn't, actually, as the Asset had no regards for his own survival except for the fact he had to go back and report at all costs. He was a tool, a means to an end, the only thing that could shape the world, the century.

That had been what his handler said before, right? He couldn't quite remember. His memory was something he couldn't truly rely on. Even if most of the things he knew he had to know remained, lots of other memories went away every time he sat on that chair. His handler reminded him it was for his own good, that it was his duty as a soldier.

Duty. Soldier. Those two words sometimes made him hesitate but he tried his best not to let it show. He didn't like what happened when he was on that chair, it didn't feel good so sometimes when there was a hint of doubt he tried to, unconsciously perhaps, keep it down, hidden away. Even if he knew he shouldn't because his Handlers knew best.

He heard a voice through his earpiece as he settled into position once more with his sniper rifle perfectly placed in his arms.

– Цель приближается. Десять секунд. Target closing in. Ten seconds.

The Asset breathed calmly through his nose. He had done this plenty of times before, it was all about skill and timing. "понял. Understood", he replied coldly, noticing the car with the target in question inside approaching at a rather normal speed. And because it was being escorted by two motorbikes to the side, a car ahed and one behind, then there would be no way for it to speed any further should any problems arise.

Right hand, index finger on the trigger, eye hovering on the scope, the Asset waited for the perfect opportunity to take his shot.

Ensekai really really fumbled the bag in Mizuki's storyline by using they/them pronouns and i can prove it

Ok so, ill start this by saying this does NOT mean that Mizuki's gender can't be "nonbinary" or that they cant use they/them. In the end it'll just mean that most of the characters would not know that at this point in the story and all views on mizuki, trans girl or nonbinary are objectively correct so far.

That ensekai fumbles translations is something we all know, the event names for example, a huge one is going on as i write this. Why the fuck is it not pandemonium like everywhere else??

Other fumbles we can't really blame ensekai for, song translations, as weird as they can seem, are chosen by the voca-p themselves

(even if they make it sound way more aggressive)

But on the stories? I complain a lot, they make the characters not look as gay, sometimes change their personality slightly and.

Sometimes. It kind of nearly ruins the story, which is Mizuki's case.

So, WHY did ensekai do that, and why is it different on jp?

Well, for starters, japanese does not have pronouns in the same way english does, they DO need to use pronouns instead of . "Mizuki said mizuki wanted this" every single time, so no pronouns, for a rhythm game is out of the question.

And they thought that they/them was a second best choice.

In japanese games and anime, people tend to see a gender funky character and immediately go for they/them, for one. But also not really the only reason.

The reason might have been the two usages of pronouns in japanese.

Introduction and character reference.

So, to introduce themselves, Japan uses a few pronouns such as atashi, watashi, ore, boku... Boku is a masculine leaning pronoun, and the one Mizuki uses. Its not the most masculine (from the ones i said, that would be ore) and in cases can be considered gender neutral, and sometimes, rarely, girls use it. Mizuki is one of these girls.

Another one is Rui, who's the only one to know Mizuki from middle school, calls them "Mizuki-kun". -Kun is ALSO male aligned but can be used gender neutrally, but there's also a difference here. Rui calls EVERYONE -kun, Shizuku, Saki, Emu. You name it. He uses -kun for everyone. So thats not a valid reason.

Another question you can have is: did ensekai ever use a different pronoun for Mizuki?

And the answer, surprisingly, is yes. Before niigo knew mizuki irl there's two times they use she/her.

Which really sucks, because that would mean Mizuki uses she/her online, but ws soon as they meet her, its now a they/them? Without any conversation about it? And if we assume there WAS a conversation about it...

Then WHY THE HELL is Mizuki scared of telling their secret, when they have already done it in this scenario?

Thats not the case, niigo clearly thinks Mizuki is a girl- a cis one at that- currently.

In a way, the only people who would make sense knowing Mizuki's pronouns is the Kamiyama people (not Ena), they're the ones that know how Mizuki is at school, they're the ones that know her secret.

And yet, if Mizuki uses they/them, even the bullies respect it. And if she doesn't use they/them, then that means An and Rui of all people misgender them. Its a mess.

So not only does it breaks the immersion, it can also mean that either the bullies are not transphobic (really, if they didnt want to LOOK like they're transphobic is it that hard to avoid pronouns?? They're paid for that come on), or that the PLAYABLE CHARACTERS are.

Mizuki being so scared of saying her secret when everyone uses they/them for her is honestly. Fucking bad story telling. If they wanted to have made Mizuki's gender a secret there's a lot more ways they could've done instead of they/theying Mizuki in the story. Such as marking the gender as "unknown" or just. Leaving the story as is, people would be dumbasses and make them think mizuki is cis? So??? Let them be wrong when the time comes. This way it pretty much ruins her events.

And thats not saying Mizuki cant use they/them, but at thid point the characters would NOT know, the point that Mizuki tells the secret is the point they should know.

And.. in the end. That makes the fandom worse.

Jp does not have fights on which gender Mizuki is, they do not care. Its Mizuki and they like Mizuki for who [Mizuki] is as a person.

Meanwhile the en fandom gets called transphobic if the headcanon is a transgirl and also if the headcanon is a nonbinary transfem. It makes no sense and is only worth to make fights happen.

            If you think about it, the Vulture really did get his revenge on Norman because while he didn’t kill the man, nor did he get him to apologize or admit to his theft, he still traumatized him deeply. Weisman confirmed that Adrian’s attack on Norman made him desperate to never again feel helpless, to the point where he became the Green Goblin to do so, especially after feeling cornered into a deal he couldn’t back out of by Tombstone, who had leverage against him.

            Meaning Toomes straight-up haunted Norman, he set into motion a series of events that would’ve led to Norman likely dying a grisly death by his own hand, as he’s publically revealed and humiliated as a supervillain. Early in S2, when Vulture has otherwise lost relevance as a villain, we find out Norman is STILL fucked up by the encounter because he has people searching for him, and has even admitted to it by making the order under his civilian persona. Toomes lives in this man’s head rent-free.

            So in a way, the Vulture kind of got the revenge he wanted after all, and given he’s easily the most justified victim out of all the supervillains, I find this quite satisfying, and I hope he would, too. Adrian did have to lose his civilian life due to his criminal record; But on the other hand, the writers remembered his friendship with Otto, which makes it pretty neat how he’s hanging around as a second-in-command, even if he’s not… the most viable bodyguard, because while Silver Sable has the excuse of being caught off-guard and poisoned, Vulture really did just go down like a chump to a regular guy with a regular gun. Oof.

            But in the end, it’s not about whether Vulture is as powerful as others, like Kraven; Because a bodyguard’s use is also measured by their trustworthiness. So it speaks volumes that Doc Ock trusts Vulture enough to watch his back. I imagine he also likes reversing the power dynamic between them as well. Which wouldn’t have happened if Norman hadn’t gotten Otto into an accident, which he wouldn’t have done without Adrian setting all that in motion. But in the end the friendship seems chill.

            This reminds me of how in Spider-Man: The Animated Series, its Vulture also got exactly what he wanted; He’s introduced as an old man trying to get back his youth, and is foiled as typical. But after a couple of other adventures, actually reaches a perfect arrangement when he restores Silvermane, who’s been reduced to an intelligent baby, back to his usual elderly age, in exchange for Vulture having his youth restored permanently.

            He is still a criminal after this; I guess his record forces Adrian to keep up the title, though tbf, he can fly so why not start a new life abroad, with his scientific skills the Scorpion sought him for? But then again, gotta pay bills. Maybe being young again means Adrian’s pursuing the reckless thrills of youth, which means the life of crime is indeed his choice and he is having fun; Meaning again, the Vulture got exactly what he wanted. I love that for him, Vulture Ws are great.

            Imagine Norman’s death in TSSM involving him having nightmarish visions of the Vulture as he goes legitimately insane, and starts seeing him where Spidey is… Informed by the trauma and dying by it. His own Goblin Glider uses Vulture’s Tech Flight, so I guess it’s symbolic of how that seemingly insignificant starter villain has left his mark on Norman more than the other way around. Norman thought he stole Adrian’s work but really it invaded his life.

Why Steve Rogers and Sharon Carter are perfect for each other*

*With caveats: 1) a large portion of Sharon's personality and backstory I'll reference are my own creation, because the MCU keeps on forgetting she exists; 2) F&WS!Sharon is not the real Sharon but is a Skrull or comes from another dimension or something; and 3) the Steve who dances with Peggy at the end of Endgame is not the Steve I'm talking about. If any of this is confusing, please feel free to ask!

For starters, they're clearly attracted to each other, and it seems obvious they're interested in pursuing their relationship, which is more than I can say for some people that get shipped with Steve.

While attracted to each other, they don't let that get in the way of doing their job or fulfilling their responsibilities.

They have the same/similar sense of morals/justice (noticing something fishy about S.H.I.E.L.D. and standing up against it; breaking the law to save an innocent man's life).

The kind of person Steve needs in a partner (romantic or otherwise) is someone with compassion who will also challenge him when needed and not just crumble when the going gets tough. Sharon is usually gentle and kind, but she also doesn't take any crap and isn't afraid to speak up when it's necessary.

Steve has a tendency to not ask for help and try to do everything himself, because there have been so many times when there was no one to turn to, or he felt he had to prove he could do it when no one said he could. But Sharon doesn't wait to be asked for help. If she sees something that needs to be done, she takes the initiative and dives right in. That will be so important to their relationship, because Sharon won't let Steve do everything alone.

Steve's love language is Acts of Service, and Sharon has always struck me as the kind of person who would step up and help out as soon as she sees a need. Sharon's love language is Words of Affirmation, and Steve is surprisingly good at finding the right words to say to both inspire, and make someone feel good about themselves.

Sharon always interacts with Steve as Steve first, Captain America second. She doesn't fawn over him or expect him to be perfect, she doesn't pat herself on the back for managing to catch the eye of the world's first superhero. She just sees him for what he is: a man. That's got to be pretty rare for Steve, and would make her even more attractive to him.

What Sharon needs most in a partner is someone she can trust. Someone she can let her guard down around, who will be honest with her so they don't have to play guessing games. And Steve is as honest as they come. He's bad at lying, and he's always just himself around her, so any problems that arise are out in the open and they can work through them together.

Steve's first love was Peggy, and Sharon was really close to Peggy. Not only would she have heard lots of stories of what Steve is like, but she also would have been influenced by Peggy. Peggy is one of Sharon's most important role models, so the person that she wants to become (and is already well on her way to becoming) is exactly the sort of person Steve is looking for in the first place. No, they're not the same, and I don't think Steve would ever expect her to be. But the strength and kindness he admired in Peggy is also present in Sharon.

Steve and Sharon are both the kind of people who, once they make a commitment to someone, will not abandon them. This is perhaps the most important thing for a couple, because at the end of the day, no matter how compatible you are, no matter how "in love" you are or how much "chemistry" you have, what matters when the rubber meets the road is commitment. And Steve and Sharon are the kind of people who will put in the effort to make it work even when it's hard, even when other things change. Even when they both grow old and ugly and weak, they will be there for each other.

She should have never fucking made the deal with the FUCKING BANGERS, twice! She deserved what she got, or putting her and her girls between a rock and a hard place.

When the job came in, for a MODEL , she had jumped at it. It had stated that they would work a couple days. And get paid, $35, 755. 00. For each day, would pull them out of the gutter. But the moment she arrived. She started noticing the set up, the chains, and cages. Not to mention, she was asked to be taken to the back room. So MANY VARIABLES were not adding up. And instead of leaving, she stayed. T H A T W A S H E R S T U P I D M I S T A K E! She wasn't there for MODELING, She was there to be a fucking porno and not JUST ANY porno, but a snuff film.

They had stabbed her, whipped her with those fucking chains, not to mention, B E I N G G A N G B A N G E D. Among other horrible scenarios, and she was supposed to be killed in a very horrifying way. But, with what strength she had. She had managed to fight back and when they made the mistake of turning there back on her. Thinking she was to weak to do anything, she made her escape. Barely getting out alive, and nearly unable to walk. But she did it, ADRENALINE being the only reason she made it. She must be blacking out, or in such a fog, that she didn't realize she was standing in SamCRO Clubhouse until she heard Chibs voice.

Barely able to recognize anything, and by his reaction, she must be cut up, and bruised badly. She already knew she was bleeding, she could feel it flowing over different parts of her body. It had been enough, that she had noticed the light headedness and the blurring vision. She felt Chibs arm come under her arm, hooking around her waist.

Holding her up, his voice was soft, concerned. As he spoke, she could barely understand him, but she heard him call out for Jax. And she felt the lunch she had had , churning in her stomach. Threatening to spill out all over the floor, so she took what strength she had to spin and try to find something to use, but didn't get the chance before she ws tossing up the contents of her stomach all over the floor. Body shaking, against the sobs that suddenly ripped from her throat.

Last time I did this there was an even split of dialogue to prose for my starters. This time there's only 3 (not counting stories in 1st person). Previously, it seemed that I started with dialogue when the work was shorter, but this isn't the case with these more recent ones. For example, No. 1 is a 100k longfic, whereas No. 5 has the shortest word count. With both types I do seem to prefer to hit with a hook rather than set the scene - 7 of these are nebulous in the 5 Ws, but are (I hope) intriguing enough to have the reader continue. So that's my pattern - give enough info to ask questions but don't give answers straight away.

there had never been a point in her life when devani toland could hve been accused of being calm. she was not a quiet woman, nothing about her shy and retiring. but for all her chaos, or perhaps in spite of it, there was something about her energy today that was particularly frantic.

being in the westerlands had her on edge. king's landing, at least, whilst not familiar to devani was in many ways like every other city. if she needed to disappear, it would have been laughably easy to do so and steal away on the first ship to cross the narrow sea. neither was it dorne, all too familiar, but far enough removed that, despite everything else that had happened in the halls on sunspear, she could still concoct an illusion of safety. here, there existed no such thing. this was the lion's den, and she ws desperately trying not to wake them.

but here was ravi martell. the prince of dorne was somebody whose company devani enjoyed, and here, she was finding even more appreciation for the way he moved through the world. it was an almost calming influence, even when she felt like she was spiralling into something she couldn't control.

"look!" she darted away from his side, towards a stall that had caught her eye. "it's from selhorys!" the object that had caught her attention was nothing particularly special - a small, carved wooden box, decorated with a pattern that was distinctly volantene. "oh isn't it darling," she clutched it to her chest, turning to ravi with wide eyes. "you have to get it."

A wonderful evening of baseball here at the Mariners' ballpark! Today we have the second game of the Mariners vs. Atlanta Braves 3-game series, with the Ms up 1-0. Considering the tough gantlet of WS Champions (Texas Rangers, Ms won 2-1), WS Runners Up (Arizona D-Backs, Ms won 2-1), and Atlanta (19-7 coming into this series), spirits are high! We've won 4 series' in a row at this point, how can baseball not feel romantic? I consider the great American pastime to be an art (I'll be writing about this later).

I got dressed up in my softball uniform as I refuse to not be colorful and exceptionally queer when I go to the ballpark now! We're the Puget Sound Pronouns, and we are a gender-welcoming club playing here in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. We are also a non-profit organization that seeks to bring softball to more people of all kinds of backgrounds, as well as helping kids to feel safe in the pursuit of athletics.

While we're rapidly approaching summer, spring in the PNW can still come with a bite of chill, even if it's sunny as all get out. Today was no exception, reasonably warm if you sit in the sun, however, if you still up in the upper deck, you'll get some of the wind rolling off of Puget Sound, so dress warm (at one point I had an undershirt, my Pronouns jersey, my hoodie, then my Hello Kitty appreciation night jersey on, still chilly uffda!)

The sky was clear except for a few fluffy clouds, and we were treated to brilliant neon colors as the sun set.

As an aside, I am exceptionally grateful for @warriorbeeofthesea for their love and excitement of baseball. I never thought I'd have a partner who enjoys the things I do (and in fact, they have loved the Ms for a lot longer than I have!)

We went today specifically for Hello Kitty Jersey night (you can buy promotional tickets that often come with neat stuff, I cannot wait for pride night coming up!) and while we had to wait in line for a long while, we eventually got our two jerseys.

They are still made of the flimsy material that promos are made of, but the Hello Kitty styling was actually sewn on, which is pretty cool, what with the jersey problems in ball right now, ugh.

As for the actual game itself, one of our whoops all aces, Luis Castillo went 6 or so innings I believe, keeping the Atlanta offense to tidy 0 runs with 7 strikeouts, continuing a streak of excellence among the Mariners Starters.

A 2-run Jorge Polanco home run opened up the scoring in the bottom of the 3rd, and a Dylan Moore double out to Jarred Kelenic in the bottom of the 4th brought Mitch Haniger home for our 3rd run of the day.

Atlanta fought back with a pair of runs in the top of the 8th, on a single with an RBI and a run scored on an error from Andres Munoz.

Considering Munoz came in with the objective of getting a 5-out save, we can easily overlook his errant throw to 1st, as he ended up with the win for the evening (I am unsure how we attribute wins and saves to pitchers, but he ended the game with a win for us!)

One train ride home later (I continue to love our light rail, so easy to get to the game from a free park and ride), two tired hotties rest from a lovely day of ball, on the back of yet another Mariners series win!
