MengMeng is so important to me

He's a little guy who has a dumb brother and an emotionally stunted master. He loves them both so much he would die for them and neither will let him

He loves them so much he didn't care for all the things they hid from him so long as he gets to see them again

He sucks at crafts but spent a lot of time trying his best to give his master a gift

He gave all his candy to his new cousin without second thought

One of his biggest concerns during a life or death situation was if he was about to become a shidi

There was a guy he hated. Turns out it's two guys who he still has beef with but more like a grumpy cat type of annoyance

He had a friend he never saw again and still thinks about him

He has a tsundere relationship with his bio dad

He will move heavens and earth for his loved ones

He's annoyed he's not considered rich but won't try to take more money than what his dad would

He's the man. He's the best. He's the cutest, the handomest the most lovable little one

I think a lot about the fact that Mo Ran and Xue Meng are cousins. At least, they are in every way that matters. By the end of the book, you realise biologically they’re not related in the slightest: Mo Ran isn’t biologically Xue Zhengyong’s nephew. Xue Meng isn’t biologically Xue Zhengyong’s son. But, emotionally, they are cousins, and they are Xue Zhengyong’s son and nephew, because he’s one of the people who raised them with care, and told them they were family. And, honestly, I think that’s all that really matters.
