In a heartbeat, he was back in front of Viktor. In the next, he had taken his partner by the waist and guided him backward until his shoulders met the chalkboard. Then he kissed Viktor like he meant it.

alright here's my idea - an au where jayvik meet as kids, with viktor working for a street magician, rigging all the fake tricks behind the scenes, and jayce as a little magic fanboy 🪄✨

some thoughts on this au:

jayce has been obsessed with magic acts ever since his life was saved by a sorcerer. there's a new performer in town who can do tricks no one else can, and jayce in convinced he must be the real deal. one day he sneaks backstage in the hopes of finding evidence of real magic, but finds viktor instead, who he assumes must be the magician's apprentice!

viktor is torn because he doesn't want to ruin this kid's enthusiasm, or risk losing his job by revealing the truth. but he also... really doesn't want to be a wizard. so he comes clean. (lol)

jayce is a little bummed to find out it's not real, but when viktor shows him how the practical effects work, jayce becomes enchanted once more. they look so convincing!! technology that can replicate magic?? he thinks that's brilliant.

from then on viktor has a little tag-along at all of their shows, and jayce even starts calling himself viktor's apprentice. viktor's embarrassed, obviously, but also undeniably charmed. he and jayce become friends, him teaching jayce about engineering and jayce (trying to) teach him about the arcane.

they are earth shatteringly adorable the entire time 😔

Opening his eyes, Viktor took in Jayce’s serene expression from just a breath away. He ran his thumbs slowly beneath hazel eyes, hesitant in his reverence. Then he mirrored the motions he’d come to crave and brought Jayce’s face up to his. Viktor kissed Jayce firmly and with all the determination of one playing catchup.

The sound in the room roared even louder, but Viktor's spotted vision was filled only by the broad expanse of Jayce's back. He was faced away, though his arm remained extended backward — an unintentional invitation that had Viktor's fingers twitching around the handle of his cane.

Jayce knocked against the underside of the roof, acknowledging the driver. He then returned to kissing Viktor slow and hot, seemingly content to ravage him until the very last second, ignoring the halfhearted protests. He just continued to hold Viktor close, petting along his body like he possessed the same soft luxury as the rest of their surroundings. Viktor boggled at the realization – not just that Jayce might be greedy in love, but that he considered Viktor something worth coveting.

“What was that for?” Viktor asked softly. Jayce smiled wider, tilting his forehead against Viktor’s. “I was happy, I guess."

I can articulate my thoughts fine, my theories even better, but you make me… feel things.” Viktor held up his hands, the slender digits and creased palms, frustratingly inarticulate. “I am not… good, at that.” Jayce reached for his hands, bringing them slowly, reverently, up to his face. He held Viktor’s hands to his cheeks, flattening the fingers until he held Jayce from chin to temple. Jayce leaned into it, eyes falling shut. “I like how you feel,” he said simply.
