Movies watched in 2024
You Are the Apple of My Eye (2018, Japan)
Director: Yasuo Hasegawa
Writers: Kenzaburo Iida & Shiori Yamazuki (based on the movie by Giddens Ko)
Mini-review:
I've seen many movies like this one, but it was still pretty fun. I enjoyed a lot of the recurring gags, and most of the characters were likable too, even if they weren't as fleshed out as they could have been. I didn't really get the reasoning behind all the drama that happens in the second half, and the movie lost steam when it started focusing on that. Still, Yuki Yamada's charming and committed performance carries the movie through all its ups and downs. I can't compare this version of You Are the Apple of My Eye with the original one, as I haven't seen it, but I do think Yamada makes this one worth watching.

Live Audience Ranking
Note: this only includes the LIVE audience of the performances in ep3+4, plus the additional 3,000 bonus votes. Whoever won out of the two groups that performed the song got 3,000 bonus votes.
Second note: These are essentially useless rankings as they weren't actual fan votes submitted online/through mobile.
Third note: Tumblr hates ties in lists. Use the vote count to determine a tie. Most everything from rank 36 onward is a tie.

Indian Air Force Test-fires SAMAR Surface-to-air Missile System During Exercise Vayu Shakti-24
The Indian Air Force conducted a successful test-firing of its recently inducted Surface to Air Missile for Assured Retaliation (SAMAR) air-defence system during Exercise "Vayu Shakti-24". The exercise, which unfolded in the Pokhran range near Jaisalmer on 17 February, saw the SAMAR system, developed by the Indian Air Force in collaboration with private-sector companies Simran Flowtech Industries and Yamazuki Denki, demonstrate its capabilities alongside the Akash surface-to-air missile weapon system. The SAMAR air-defence system, officially inducted into the air force in December 2023, showcased its effectiveness by destroying multiple aerial targets during the exercise. This successful test comes after the system's maiden firing at Air Force Station Suryalanka in the southern coastal region of India.

While the 4th game in the series does follow many of its predecessors’ conventions, Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney introduces a major new feature that changes how the player approaches specific testimonies: Perception. During key moments, different characters will exhibit “tells” that indicate that they’re lying or hiding something in their testimony. While the system itself is straightforward in execution, what makes it so engaging is its initial introduction: during a trial heavily focused around a game of poker.

“Yamazuki Maru (Japanese cargo ship) beached and gutted on Guadalcanal in November 1943. She had been wrecked by U.S. air attacks during the Naval battle of Guadalcanal, 15 November 1942. At the time this photo was taken, she was in use as a bomb target. Note warning sign on hull side to this effect.”
