Magicians Don't Need Superheros Pt25

A quick warning that toward the end of the chapter, there is some discussion of medical trauma, but nothing too graphic in detail

Marvin was slowly beginning to hate the examination room as he sat on the now fully flat examination chair with Jackie beside him. The mud on his body was drying and flaking, which meant it was doing the same in his hair and that feeling made him want to throw something across the room. Jackie was scratching off the dried mud on his hands, causing it to powder and make it look like he had ash all over his lap. 

“Considering that the redness is only within the iris of the eye, I do not think they have been given a disease,” Henrik said to the audience in the room, crowding it and adding to Marvin's discomfort. 

After word of the Ego being an Iplier got out, a handful of them showed up at the House, demanding answers. Well, Dark was demanding. Wilford, Illinois, Yancy, and Google seemed to just be there since it was expected. Henrik had asked where Edward was and apparently, Host was having, as Dark had put it ‘difficulties’ and was handling him at that moment. Anti and JJ were also in the room but on the other side, Robbie being the only Septiceye missing, playing with CJ and RJ outside. Marvin could see them through the one window of the room, chasing each other and throwing armfuls of leaves. He wished he could be out there right now, playing, not a care in the world. But no. Now he was back to being poked and prodded at to figure out what was wrong with him. 

“Marvin, I am going to prick your finger,” Henrik said, getting Marvin’s attention back to him. 

“Have at it.” Marvin held his hand out, watching Henrik use a similar method he had done with Robbie, taking a drop of blood before turning away to the counter. Marvin stared at the drop of blood that formed after the prick and just blinked when Chase used a tissue to clean it off and applied a small bandaid. 

“You good?” Chase asked.

“I want a shower.” Marvin sighed. 

“Can’t blame ya. Hen’s got this like fancy hair stuff you can borrow.” Chase gestured at his own hair.

“Jackie told me about that.” Marvin softly chuckled.

“That is…odd.” Henrik mused out loud. 

“Odd is not a good word to use after looking into a microscope,” JJ commented. 

“He says it about me all the time.” Anti shrugged.

“He’s looking at Marvin, not you.” JJ reminded.

“Ah, shit.” 

“I am going to need a bigger sample and one from both of them,” Henrik said. “Anti, can you text Madrick that I will need him and the other two? This is more complicated than I expected.”

“On it.” Anti clicked his tongue, pulling out his phone and typing away. 

“Let’s get Jackie done and over with,” Dark stated. “We’re missing Edward, so it will-” 

“No, no, no.” Jackie scrambled off the chair and to his feet. 

“You know how this goes. It’s beyond annoying that we have to, but to ensure the safety of yourself and others we need to follow Henrik’s directions.” Dark slipped off his blazer, as if worried about getting it dirty. 

“We’re not-no-no we’re not.” Jackie fumbled a bit, trying to be as far away from Henrik and Dark at the same time. Henrik held up his hands to show they were empty, but it didn’t help Jackie. 

“Jackie, bro, it’s okay.” Chase put himself between Jackie and Henrik. “Let’s just take some deep breaths.” Marvin noticed that Anti was helping Henrik out of his lab coat. “We can do a lap around the House while Hen takes care of Marvin, alright?” 

“I don’t think he should go outside in this state,” Google stated.

“Then we’ll do the lap inside,” Chase said through gritted teeth, not showing anger but trying to hint at Google to let him handle this. Jackie still looked panicked and tensed up more as Dark got closer. His eyes shifted around the room, trying to focus and he went still when he saw the lab coat in Anti’s arms. 

“Get away!” Jackie suddenly cried out, shoving Chase and Dark away from him. 

Anti yanked Henrik out of the way and caught Chase before he slammed into the counter’s edge and Wilford caught Dark before he hit the wall. Illinois moved in front of Yancy, JJ checked on Henrik and Google just watched everything as Jackie sprinted past him. 

“Jackie!?” Marvin called out and ran off as well. 

“Marvin, wait!” Chase held his sore chest as he tried to get up. He stopped when Wilford snapped his fingers, a puff of pink coming off of them. “You did not.”

“They need a moment,” Wilford said. 

“That’s not what I meant.” Illinois sighed.

Marvin lost his footing for a moment when the surface he was running on changed. The strong scent of bubblegum told him that Wilford had something to do with it. It took a second but Marvin soon discovered he had been sent to the basement of the House, standing in front of the steps. Jackie had seen sent with him and was curled up in a corner of the room. 

“Jackie?” Marvin walked over. “Jackie, are you okay?” 

“Don’t-!” Jackie flinched when Marvin got near, looking up at him and pausing. “I’m…” He swallowed and looked around. 

“It’s just me, Jackie.” Marvin sat down on the ground, crossed his legs, and prepared to wait. Jackie stayed tucked in the corner, almost a full minute of silence hung in the air. “That fear with the drawing blood stuff, it’s a lot more complicated, isn’t it?” Marvin asked when Jackie’s breathing began to even out. 

“Y-Yeah.” Jackie slipped down and sat on the ground, tucking his knees up and hugging them. 

“Have you talked to Henrik about it?”

“No.” 

“Have you talked to anyone about it?” 

“Not really?”

“Does anyone know?”

“Yes.”

“Who?”

“Chase and Anti.” 

“Those nightmares…are they memories?” Marvin moved so he sat right next to Jackie, leaning his back against the wall. 

“Yeah,” Jackie confessed, hugging himself tighter. “It’s from when-before-before they got me to the House. It was months before they could get me.”

“Months? I was out there for only weeks and that was hard as hell even with your care packages.” Marvin heard a light chuckle from Jackie, hoping that meant he was feeling even just a bit better. 

“I didn’t want to risk you doing what I did.” Jackie lifted his head, resting his chin on the top of his knees. 

“What you did?” Marvin echoed. 

“Previous me knew how to scrape by and make money when in desperate need. I was always on the move and kept making messes trying to figure out the world and how things worked and I ended up seeing the whole country several times by the time I got to a point that I knew I needed to settle for more than a few days.”

“Saw the country several times? How did you travel so much and fast without a car? I know you can run but that’s a lot.” 

“Trains, semi-trucks, big vehicles you can like hide on or slip into and just nap for a few hours. Sometimes I made just enough for a bus pass and I slept on there and got off at the last stop. It’s not easy, but I found a way.” 

“And then you decided you wanted to stay somewhere more permanently?” 

“Yeah. I had forgotten everyone by that point and it…it wasn’t fun doing that alone.” Jackie felt a hand on his back and he turned his head, seeing Marvin giving him a soft smile. 

“Thank you for being there for me. I’m sorry you had to do that without anyone.” Marvin could still feel that ache in his heart from that moment. He didn’t know if he could have done that without Jackie there. 

“It let me learn just how far my strength can go when I’m upset. Thankfully the building I found was abandoned so when it fell no one was hurt.” Jackie weakly laughed before clearing his throat. 

“What did you do after that?”

“I went to a city library and…borrowed a card from someone to use the computer. After some research, I found out about the city’s desperate need for blood donations and…other…donations.” Jackie let his legs fall and covered his face with his hands, rubbing at it as if trying to scrub the memories away. 

“You donated blood?” Marvin placed a hand on Jackie’s arm, gently coaxing him to lower it. He wasn’t trying to get Jackie to talk out of curiosity, but out of knowing that talking about the troubles helped process them better than bottling them up. 

“The first time went perfectly. They paid me twenty bucks and gave me a cookie and some apple juice. Then I came back to do it again and there were a lot more people than before. The kind nurse was missing and the doctor wouldn’t look at me while these new people took over and walked me into the back of the hospital. I thought that maybe something went wrong I didn’t hear about and they increased security.” Jackie grabbed Marvin’s hand and squeezed it, using it to ground himself as he just couldn’t stop talking. It felt so nice to finally explain this to someone. “Then they started asking a lot more questions about how I treat my body. What I ate, how I exercised, who my parents and grandparents and great-grandparents were. I tried to answer them but I didn’t know anything. They asked if anyone was waiting for me…I told them no.” 

“That wasn’t a good thing.” Marvin practically whispered.

“No…” Jackie shook his head. “They said-They told me they were going to help me. That I would be a hero by donating more since I could handle more than the average person. So I did. And they took blood. And they took and they took and they took and then they started taking more from my body.” Jackie’s voice cracked. “The bone marrow hurt the worse. They just stuck this massive fucking needle into my arm and there were days I felt so…hollow. They took all they could and left me in a white room for a day to recover and did it all over again.” 

“Holy shit.” Marvin squeezed Jackie’s hand back. 

“I thought I was a hero. That I was helping so many people but I was so empty. I couldn’t use my abilities when I barely had enough blood to breathe so I was trapped even when I wanted to leave. I told them to give me my money and let me go. But they didn’t. Then I begged to be freed, they could have their money, I just wanted to see the sun again.” 

“How did you get out?” 

“Anti and Chase found me. Host got a vision of where I was since I was finally in one place and they went to get me. Chase was assigned, and Anti was there to help.” Jackie was beginning to look tired. “Anti broke in and he…well…he took care of those doctors.” Marvin didn’t need Jackie to give details about what he meant. “Then he burned the place down and made sure everything was destroyed while Chase got me out. He held me while I cried, while I broke down and felt so lost and confused and afraid of everything. Chase told me everything was going to be okay, that he’d keep me safe.”

“Like a parent?” 

“Like a parent.” Jackie blinked away tears that were trying to form. 

“Would you like a hug?” Marvin asked, nearly falling back when Jackie just launched into him. “I said a hug, not a tackle, you dork.” He joked lightly, happy to hear Jackie chuckling at that. Marvin wished there wasn’t anything else going on, knowing Jackie just shared a lot all at once but their eyes were still red. And the mud was getting itchy. “Jackie?”

“Yeah?” 

“We’re going to have to go back to the room soon.”

“Yeah.” 

“And I really want to get this mud out of my hair.” Marvin was now the one chuckling as Jackie broke out into a laugh.

The Egos as Magnus Archives Fear Avatars

Hello ego enjoyers, I'm once again back on my AU bullshit! Or simply just me rambling on about these character's funky little vibes and assigning them TMA fears they'd probably be avatars of based on nothing but vibes. Possibly their lore, too, if they have it. -Markiplier Egos-

Darkiplier, Avatar of The Dark: This one was an obvious choice! Dark(iplier) shares the same name/nickname as The Dark, and in my opinion it really makes sense with how his character is. My other two options were either The Stranger or The Web, but I decided to go with The Dark.

Wilford, Avatar of The Spiral: I thought that The Spiral fit really well with how Wilford is, considering the Spiral is all about the world not being as it seems and general madness, like how Wilford is.

Host, Avatar of The Eye: The Eye is a perfect fit for Host, because he can see everything going on despite being blind, and seems generally very knowledgable. I also think that The Eye fits with Host because he's a podcast host, and that's very similar to the case logs of The Magnus Archives.

Google, Avatar of The Extinction: This one fit mainly because of his vibes, and his "secondary objective is to destroy mankind" thing. Google just seems like a very Extinction-y android, and given the chance, I feel like he'd gladly serve The Extinction to fulfill his secondary objective.

Yancy, Avatar of The Stranger: Okay, I admit, this one was pretty much entirely based on his vibe. I didn't really think Yancy fit any one of the Fears exactly, so I went with The Stranger as I feel like Yancy sort of has its vibe? Also The Desolation for some reason.

Actor, Avatar of The Web: Even in his lore, Actor is very Web aligned to me. He manipulates, schemes, and is generally just an asshole. Actor orchestrated the entire night of WKM, and I think that's a very The Web thing of him to do. Also control is also very prevalent in his character.

Annus, Avatar of The End: If Unus Annus taught us one thing, it was that everything ends. I think that's all that's needed for Annus's explanation.

-Jacksepticeye Egos-

Anti, Avatar of The Slaughter: Originally, I was going to do The Web, which I still think fits really well for Anti, but I thought that The Slaughter fit more. This is because Anti is, y'know, very aggressive, and even slit his (C!Jack's?) own throat in his first appearance.

Marvin, Avatar of The Eye: This one was majorly based on vibes, and I felt that Marvin had the most Eye vibes out of the Entities. He knows a lot about magic, too.

Jameson Jackson, Avatar of The Web: I was gonna go with The Eye initially for JJ. However, I thought with his theme in some of his videos of being a puppet connected by strings and being manipulated, I think he'd be an unwilling Avatar of The Web.

Chase Brody, Avatar of The Lonely: Considering in his lore he's divorced his wife and left his child, possibly killed them or somehow lost them... ("I lost the only two people that ever mattered to me") Yeah I think it's safe to say he'd be an Avatar of The Lonely.

Robbie the Zombie, Avatar of The Extinction: Another option for Robbie I had was The End, but with him being a zombie and all, I thought that The Extinction was just a better thematic fit I guess. I also was considering The Corruption.

Jackie, Avatar of The Corruption: This Fear is a little bit of a reach, but I thought that he had the vibes of The Corruption the most out of all the Fears. Jackie in my opinion doesn't really fit with any of them exactly, so I just went with the one I felt like for him. Maybe it's a representation of him getting "corrupted" by his hero work?

Henrik, Avatar of The End: He's a doctor, and has let his patients die before. Henrik is even called the "Doctor of Death." So I think that he's a good fit for being an Avatar of The End.

Unus, Avatar of The End: Two End Avatars in a row! Again, same logic as Annus being an Avatar of The End. Unus Annus was made to teach us that everything comes to an end, and to cherish the life we have.

Blank, Avatar of The Lonely: I think that The Lonely fits him well, since Blank is the manifestation of Ethan's depression and anxiety. I have a headcanon that he tends to avoid crowds and lots of people like the plague, so The Lonely is a good fit for my version of him too.

Mad Mike, Avatar of The Spiral: He sells drugs in ice cream, and some of those have to have to have some psychedelic affects. I think that he'd be an Avatar of The Spiral largely because of his drug business, and that he's probably somewhat crazy.

-MatPat Egos-

Mad, Avatar of The Desolation: Mad is insane, loves fire, and canonically (if we're calling William Afton in FNAF: The Musical MadPat, which I am) burned himself badly. I think he'd be a poster child of an Avatar of The Desolation. He'd enjoy watching something burn from the outside, knowing that someone's livelihood is being destroyed too.

The Detective, Avatar of The End: My memory of ETN is quite rusty, but I believe he died multiple times and came back once only to permanently die, right? I also get The End vibes from him in general.

The Hermit, Avatar of The Vast: I would've gone with The Lonely because he's trapped alone on an island in the middle of nowhere in the ocean, but because it's in the middle of the ocean, I went with The Vast instead. Hermit just kind of gives The Vast vibes to me.

-NateWantsToBattle Egos-

Natemare, Avatar of The Web: To be honest, I couldn't really decide on a fear for him to be an Avatar of. It was between The Web and The Vast, mainly. For him, I think it's majorly because of him being a siren and being able to control people if he wants to with his voice, and that seems very Web aligned to me.

Phantom, Avatar of The Stranger: Again, I couldn't really decide on one for Phantom. I thought that The Stranger fit his vibe the most, so I went with that. The other option was The Web, but since I already have Natemare as an Avatar of The Web I thought that Phantom should be an Avatar of a different Fear.

Bones, Avatar of The Hunt: This is mainly for my version of him. He's a revenant, constantly in pain and usually very angry. I think he'd like to take it out on others in a Hunt-like way, rather than a Slaughter-like way if that makes sense. His type of violence and killing isn't mindless, it isn't random, it's planned to hurt in as many ways as it can, to cause people the most pain before dying in an attempt to soothe his own pain.

Sharper, Avatar of The Flesh: I thought that he'd be an Avatar of The Flesh since in my interpretation of him/version of him, Sharper is a cyborg. I based that off the scene in the Take Me Anywhere music video where he has an injury with metal and wires and stuff under his skin, then I thought that he would work well as a Flesh Avatar since he might not like that he's (at least partially) still made of flesh and bone instead of fully robot or fully human.

Booky's Year in Review 2023

And so ends another year. Farewell 2023, fourth year of uni. Farewell 2023, year I lost my Zoe. Farewell to one of the strangest years of my life.

This year started with going to see The Phantom of the Opera at The Arts Centre Melbourne.

I also spent 10 days with my sister, helping us to bond, in March, which was also quite good.

I found out I had autism, which made life so much easier honestly. There's no need for me to feel bad about my little quirks, there's a reason.

I finally discovered I have Coeliac disease. 2.5 years struggling with nausea and fatigue, finally resolved with the discovery that I am intolerant to gluten.

I watched about 5 movies in two months.

This year, writing's changed. My fanfiction has evolved from primarily platonic angst and fluff through to romantic ships and even a little dip into smut. I give all that growth to @iamvegorott, who has been such a great friend to encourage me to explore these new skills in my writing. Any time I wasn't sure about an approach, I asked Veg, and they gave me tips and encouragement to approach it. Thank you so much, Veg.

It's also thanks to Veg that I expanded my fandoms list of writing, now exploring NateWantsToBattle as a fandom and approaching MadMare as a ship. I didn't realise I was experiencing a burnout on writing the same fandoms until I tapped into a new one, and my motivation is back in full force.

With the help of my great friend @brokentimewatch, I started writing three new ships: Silent Film Sweethearts (JJ x Noir), Death's Dichotomy (Murdock x Yancy), and Antique Companions (Shawn and JJ and Noir). I also travelled deeper into making Vintage Husbands (Shawn x JJ) into a romantic ship.

This was a year of writing advancements. I started my first vampire AU (the Files series), which was so fun and sort of hinted at the mature change to the writing. I would love to return to that series, to that universe, soon as I figure out any more gaps in the story to write.

I also made a vampire AU out of MadMare, which spanned 20 chapters and a short sequel blurb. It's the more nsfw of the vampire AUs, looking into some things I seem to be fixated on.

In the sewing sphere, I have figured out how spiral steel boning works, and I figured out hook and eye tape.

I posted a YouTube video almost every week this year, which was amazing.

I hope next year brings as much fun as the end of this one has. I look forward to screaming over more writing ideas with Hunter and Veg, helping out @jellyfishdooter with creativity, and finishing my damn Wishing Dress project!!

Ego Families

While most of the egos consider themselves to be family with egos from their creator, many of them split into much smaller family groups.

Septics

Henrik is the resident father and head of Septic House, with Marvin as his second in command.

Henrik and Jackie consider themselves father and son.

If asked, both Chase and Anti will call each other “my annoying as shit brother”. They share a room because there was nowhere else to put Anti’s computer.

Everyone calls Robbie “little brother”, but Robbie is closest with JJ.

All the Septics learned BSL for JJ and Robbie greatly benefited from that.

Marvin is the resident cat and oldest brother. They look like BB in cat form.

Ipliers

While Dark and Wilford are in charge of the entire estate, their smaller family consists of Artie(KOTS), and Engie (who is technically more Damien’s kid but defaulted to Dark).

Host found a family in Doc after moving into the Manor with Author. Eric was later added to the family when he showed up.

Actor considers all of the egos that he “created” to be his children. (Yancy, Magnum, Murdock, Illinois)

Murdock and Yancy are brothers, who later gained a larger family when Murdock started dating Bim, who had at that point practically adopted Yan.

All of the androids consider themselves to be family, with the Googles calling themselves brothers. Bing doesn’t consider the Googles brothers, but calls them family.

The Jims are clones and have a strange telepathic field they tend to communicate through wordlessly. They call each other brothers and would definitely accept more members if any more Jims are created.

While Annus “created” a fair amount of egos, the only one he considers his kid is Elliot, and Gothan by association. (But only because Elliot decided that Annus was his dad). He spends most of his time with Unus.

Illinois and Camper share the cabin in the woods that once belonged to Author and Host. The duo take care of HeeHoo when needed and spend a fair amount of time with Mermark.

Dave and Mike ended up gravitating towards each other due to their jobs’ similarities and hours, becoming good friends. Dave later ended up looking at the Convict and telling Mike “that one’s ours now” which suited Vic just fine as they aren’t a super social person. Engie is an honorary part of the family due to being Vic’s best friend.

Cranks

Most of the Cranks see each other more as friends or partners, aside from the few siblings.

Mrs Thompson and Father E are the heads of house and resident parents of Crank House.

Mad Mike and Heapass are twin brothers, and their younger brother is Challenge McGee.

Unus, like Annus, has technically “created” multiple egos, but doesn’t really call them family, spending most of his time with Annus, and Elliot and Gothan by association, instead.

Merthan and Gooz spend most of their time with Mermark and will occasionally check up on Mel.

Blank and Eef tend to keep to themselves. Blank often haunts Eef’s monitors.

Okay so about the corporate!AU

Just gonna spill my guts about this and clear up some social statuses the egos share for said corporation!AU.

Okay, so to begin just gonna explain the levels of bosses/management:

• Top Level Manager/Corporate Head: Dark

- CEO’s: Mare, Chase, and Wilford

• Human Resource (HR): Henrik and Edward

• Supervisors/Team Management: Bim, Google, Illinois, and Phantom

(Those are off the top of my head 😅)

Now onto the assistants:

Anti is Dark’s

Mad is Mare’s

Marvin is Chase’s

JJ is both Bim and Wilford’s

Bing is Google’s

Yancy is Illinois

Jackie is Phantom’s

Sounds like a lot, yes, but I like to imagine that the company is a really large company especially after the merge of Iplier and the Septiceyes mainly (A little before the battle brothers and Mad was introduced). Making Septic-Iplier Co. The corporation is to be the largest in the competition.

Company drama; let’s talk about it!

Dark and Anti are 9 times out of 10 gone. As I said before when it comes to hypocrisy of work scandals, Dark is the biggest hypocrite, but for him it’s easy to sweep it under the rug and mask it as a business trip.

Wilford and Bim are always at each other’s throats. Though Wilford likes to use his status within the company to make sure Bim hates his job and would like to keep JJ for himself. HR has been notified many times of Wilford’s behavior, but nothing was to be done due to the situation being such a gray area.

Laser Guns and Streamers

@bookwormscififan shared an idea of Chase celebrating his birthday with the Egos taking Chase to laser tag and I got a liiiiitle carried away XD

Laser Guns and Streamers

Chase was already buzzing with excitement as he slipped the thick, black vest over his head, watching the others around him do the same with their own vests. His smile somehow got even bigger as Marvin went up to him and helped make sure the vest was on him properly.

“I still can’t believe that everyone agreed to do this,” Chase said, playing with some of the colorful streamers that were tucked into Marvin’s ponytail. 

Robbie and Blank had decorated the others at the House before they left. Streamers, glitter, and washable markers were almost like weapons and no one was safe. Chase had some green lines across his cheeks, almost looking like the kind of ‘war paint’ one would see with football players. There was also some glitter in his hair that he’d already accepted as being part of him for a while since glitter always stuck around. 

“It’s for your birthday, they’re willing to do whatever it takes to make sure it’s a perfect, happy day for you.” Marvin kissed Chase’s cheek. “But that doesn’t mean they’ll go easy on you when the game starts.” He added with a wink. 

“Are you ready for battle!?” Jackie asked in a shout as he went over to Chase. He had streamers tied around his head like a sweatband, green lines on his cheeks like Chase, and patches of glitter on his arms.

“Hell yeah!” Chase matched Jackie’s energy and the two ran off, leaving Marvin to smile and roll his eyes. 

“Septiceyes verses Ipliers!” Wilford joined in the excited yelling, he was covered almost the same as Jackie but with a lot more glitter. 

“I’m not a Septiceye nor an Iplier so I should be allowed to sit out with Host,” Mad stated, having a few streamers tied around his wrists and the green lines were on his face, too. 

“We’re honorary Septiceyes today,” Phantom said, several streamers around his neck tied into a loose bow. He had green on his cheeks but Blank had insisted that Phantom’s had to be swirls and not straight lines. “Plus I like the idea of being able to shoot my brother without consequences.” 

“It’s just a laser, don’t get too excited.” Mare had a smirk with his scoff, arms lined with tied streamers and glitter.

“If Mad wishes to sit out, I can do the same so the teams remain even,” Google said. 

“Don’t be boring, Googs!” Bing nudged Google with his elbow, grin bright while Google breathed heavily through his nose. Both androids had their arms covered in glitter and some braided streamers were around their necks, hanging down like ties.

“Birthday boy says it’s time to go!” Anti shouted from the chair he stood on, any exposed skin on him was covered in green marker and glitter, and streamers looped around his legs to make a crossing pattern. 

He had dozed off when Blank and Robbie were getting him ready and the two got a little carried away. 

“I give it fifteen seconds before the match is over,” Henrik stated, standing next to Edward. They matched with streamers wrapped around their torsos like they were mummies. 

“If some of us try cheatin’ with powers, it only gonna be like ten,” Yancy stated. He had a thick collection of streamers tied around both upper arms. 

“If even that.” Illinois chuckled, his arms having the same collection of streamers. 

“We can have as many rounds as we want.” JJ silently giggled as he had the words appear in Yancy and Illinois’ heads. He also had a thick collection of streamers, but his were tied around his waist. 

“Let’s get this over with,” Dark said as he guided Yancy and Illinois off to join the other Ipliers and Mare to the back set of doors. Dark had planned just to have a few streamers on his wrist to keep the peace, but after Anti got covered he was held down and got himself matching Anti’s level of mess. And he was still grumpy about it.

“Ready to show them what we can do?” Chase asked his team, bouncing on his feet as he held the ‘gun’ one of the workers had given him. 

“I don’t really have a-ow!” Mad didn’t get to finish before Marvin was elbowing him. “Totally ready!” He said that instead and then cringed at how weird that felt and sounded.

“Totally ready.” Phantom echoed in a teasing tone that turned into a laugh when Mad glared at him. 

“Let’s go!” Chase cheered and sprinted into a game room first. 

He blinked fast, getting his eyes adjusted to the different lighting. He loved the fun colors, could hear the music playing from speakers above, songs that he knew all too well and he felt like he was in an action film. All eyes were on him as he ducked through the foam walls that turned the room into a maze. He was the protagonist who would save the day by taking out anyone in his way.

This was so cool!

Chase leaped over a short foam wall and with the biggest grin and the tip of his tongue sticking out, he quickly ‘shot’ Google in the back. Google looked down at the red light on his chest, shrugged, and walked off. Chase turned and saw Henrik chasing after Edward, both laughing and Henrik suddenly stopped, the light on his chest going red and a cheer from Wilford giving away that he had been the one to take him out.

“You made it to twenty seconds.” Edward chuckled.

“And you made it to twenty-five.” Henrik pointed at Edwad’s chest, light now red as well. 

“Gotcha!” Chase called out, smiling as both doctors laughed some more and waved at him as they went to the side with Google. 

“Doube-team!? Really!?” Marvin’s voice huffed from behind a foam wall that reached the ceiling. Chase looked around and saw Yancy and Illinois with Marvin. 

“Most of yous got magic, we can use tag team.” Yancy chuckled. 

“Maybe you’ll get us next-” Illinois stopped when his light went red.

“Wait, how-” Yancy stopped as well and his own light also went red. 

“You two got too cocky.” Chase grinned as he stepped out of his hiding spot. He then went to Marvin and bowed. “You’ve been avenged.”

“I’ll be sure to reward you for that later.” Marvin giggled, slipping off Chase’s hat to kiss the top of his head. 

“Gross.” Yancy stuck his tongue out.

“Gross? I could be so much blunter. I’m going to suck-”

“Nope, nope, nope. I hear nothing!” Yancy covered his ears and walked away. 

“Have fun, but don’t hurt yourself,” Marvin said to Chase, giving him one more quick kiss on the cheek before heading off with Illinois.

“I’m shocked you don’t already have something planned for tonight,” Illinois commented.

“Oh, I do~” 

“Sorry blueberry.” Wilford’s voice behind Chase told him that JJ’s was out. His team was still ahead, but only by one. 

“Shit, shit, shit.” Bing was scrambling past Chase, not seeing him. “Shit!” His last curse was one of disappointment at his light going red. 

“I hide in the shadows.” Chase played up his voice and Bing laughed. 

“I’ll get ya next round, dude.” Bing saluted and went off to sit with Google. 

“That leaves Wil, Dark, and Mare.” Chase listed off. 

“Does it just vibrate or does it make a noise?” Mad’s voice sounded worried but Chase had learned the difference between his actual worry and the exaggerated worried voice Anti and Marvin taught him to use when it came to Mare. 

Meaning that Mare was with Mad. 

Chase snuck around the foam walls and saw Mad and Mare. Even though Mare knew the worry in Mad’s voice wasn’t real, he still couldn’t help but fall for it every time. Chase found it sweet how Mare’s first thought was Mad’s safety and comfort, knowing he was the same way with Marvin. He also knew that Mad only ever used that voice with Mare when someone else told him to. Phantom was likely-

“Oh, you shit!” Mare turned when his light went red, glaring over at Phantom who was laughing. “That’s a cheap move!” 

“Sorry.” Mad gave Mare an apology kiss. 

“I did not want to see that.” Phantom covered his eyes with a hand. “Not worth-” He paused and his jaw dropped at seeing his red light. “Who the fuck-Mad!” 

“Oh.” Mad’s light was now red as well. 

Chase slipped away, knowing that it meant either Dark or Wilford was hiding somewhere and had gotten Mad and Phantom. He still had Jackie and Anti running around, or at least he assumed so since if one of them had gotten out, he would have heard them. 

“Mother fucker!”

And there goes Anti. 

Chase was wondering how he hadn’t seen Jackie yet. He wasn’t the most…stealthy Septiceye with how much he likes to run and jump and climb around. 

At the thought of climbing, Chase looked up and chuckled. He found Jackie sitting on top of one of the foam walls and the way his head was tilted meant he had eyes on one of the remaining Ipliers. 

“Got’cha Dark!” Jackie laughed in victory. “Ah, damn it!” Chase didn’t need to see anything to know that Wilford got Jackie.

It was now a showdown between Chase and Wilford. 

“Oh, Chase~” Wilford sang with a chuckle. 

“So not creepy,” Chase said to himself and sank down, sneaking between some of the tighter spaces between foam chunks, knowing Wilford wouldn’t be able to do the same. He had to slap a hand over his mouth to stop the sound of surprise from coming out when Wilford was suddenly on top of one of the foam blocks beside him. 

“Where are you?” Wilford was singing again as he looked around. 

“Right here!” Chase laughed and shot Wilford.

“Green team wins.” A voice said through the speaker and cheers broke out from most of the other Egos. 

“I did even think you’d go for low.” Wilford helped Chase out of the space and hoisted him up, sitting him on his shoulder. “Round one goes to Chase!” 

“Chase! Chase! Chase!” The chant from his teammates had Chase feeling bright and warm. 

He really loved the chaotic family he had.

Might be a question that’s already been answered: but on the topic of stims do any of the egos stim? Do any of them have stims that they’ve picked up from the others doing it?

Sure, they do! Everybody stims and since their creators are both ND, I figure the Egos are too. I made a whole post about Dark sweeping his hands around while he talks; he cracks his joints a lot too. Wilford probably uses his knives and pistols as stim toys, twirling and fluttering them. Yancy snapping his fingers, Dr. Iplier clicking his pen. Marvin's always playing with his hair or shuffling his cards, Chase likes to chew on things, Jackie swaying or bouncing in place, JJ tiptapping his feet, etc. They've all got their things!
