JEEEEESSSUS FUUUUCKING CHRIIIIIIIIIST I FINISHED DEMO 3 LAST NIGHT AND HOOOLLLYYY SSSSHHIIT AVOIDING SPOILERS WAS SO WORTH IT IT WAS SO SO WORTH IT

this is possibly some of the best and most beautiful psychological horror ive seen in a WHILE

the curveball was thrown PERFECTLY and the foreshadowing was BEAUTIFUL i genuinely had to take a second to just stare at my screen and think at some points like i just had to take a moment to think "WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON HERE..."

with most other psychological horror, i only feel admiration, i like to analyze and reflect with other psychological horrors, but with DEMO 3? I FELT IT COMPLETELY

EVERYTHING THAT WAS THERE STRUCK MY DIRECTLY IN THE HEART, THE EFFECT WAS NEVER LOST, EVEN WHEN SOMETHING ACTUALLY HAPPENED, THAT TENSION, THAT FEAR AND DREAD IT WAS BUILDING STAYED THERE, ALL THE WAY UP UNTIL HATRED. THE ONLY TIME I FELT LIKE I COULD REST. WAS WHEN IT WAS OVER.

honestly it feels like everything in the manor was set up to make you feel VULNERABLE and give you specific feelings, the knights at the dining table, kyoko, the FUCKING KIDS GIVING YOU VOICES IN YOUR HEAD AND JUST LIKE. REFUSING TO GIVE YOU THE DIALOGUE AGAIN IF YOU CHECK TOO MANY TIMES.

One of my favorite self-indulgent daydreams goes like this:

Time travel is possible, but it is a very delicate process. I am given a pill that, when ingested, will protect both me and the people of the past from diseases one of us does not have immunity to. I travel back in time- say, the Ancient Greek countryside, 13 BCE. I find a humble household of a young man, and I knock on the door, and I tell him I'm a traveler. Of course, he being a nice Greek boy, shows me the proper hospitality, invites me in, introduces me to his wife, and serves me food. I get to try Ancient Greek food, the first modern person to do so. I tell them where I'm from, my very strange story, and I explain the translation device and my strange clothes. I tell them I'm a scholar, and in fact I study them, the stories and societies of their culture and religion. They are amused by this, maybe slightly melancholy. I turn off the translator briefly and show they the Ancient Greek phrases I learned in class- they laugh at my clumsy pronunciation. I tell them that in my time, millennia in the future, we still tell the tales of Odysseus and Achilles. I ask them as much as I can about how they live, and they ask me about my life. They serve me wine and tease me slightly when it is much stronger than what I'm used to. Maybe the wife shows me her loom, and I watch her skilled hands work, and I tell her that in my time, almost no one in my country weaves in their home; she cannot imagine this. We tell each other stories, maybe teach each other songs, and laugh. I pet their dog. Before I leave, I ask if I may return one day and bring them something from my time.

A few years later, I come back to visit my old friends- and I brought food completely unknown to them. Fresh tomato and mayonnaise sandwiches on soft bread, sweets scented with vanilla and chocolate, fresh summer corn salad. Maybe they take it to, maybe not. Undoubtedly we will agree their olive oil is better. I bring one of my grandma's recipes, stuffed grape leaves with yogurt sauce, and they are touched by its relative familiarity. I bring back a guitar, and I play rock and roll ballads for them- it's different, but it's the same stories of tragic heroes and lost love they sing of in their songs. While I was gone, the couple had a child, and they let me hold him and sing Beatles songs.

ITS NO PROBLEM AT ALL‼️I DELIGHT IN TALKING ABOUT THEM

Flick and Clint are a pretty old case... Man, they had to be, what, 9 or 10? Their hometown, Paradise, is a pretty backwaters little settlement. Pretty decent schools, VERY decent community. Its a tight-knit little area, so it makes sense that the moment fresh meat was lowered in that it would be devoured Immediately.

Clint moved in permanently with his dad around 8 years old, and they fled from the more bustlesome Utopia city colony to Paradise for a simpler life, just a little ways down south. He was a really closed-off and weird-talking kid, and never showed much interest in speaking to other people. Even when he was caught-up academically, he struggled with the whole socialness bit. Quite literally, he had to be dragged kicking and screaming into friendship, and a very young Flick(and Piper) were more than willing to do so. Those 2 saw him sitting at lunch alone one day and just beelined towards him. I would say its just because it was meant to be, but Clint's dad made really good money in a town mostly consisting of fishermen, and the kids could smell it like it was like blood in the water. Though, where most other kids avoided him (because he kept threatening to bite them), Flick bit first. It was a whole thing actually, Flick's parents had to sign a form and everything and were very embarrassed. But, it was a start. Clint, even if he was fearful of that first interaction, suddenly looked to those funny two with newfound awe and respect.

After a long enough time of hanging out with him cause his parents told him to apologize (and bc his household has the Good snacks,) Flick just found that, hey! This guy aint half bad! It had to be cute, watching Flick effectively socialize this shitty newborn kitten of a child. He seemed to take pride in being an older brother in this regard, showing Clint all his favorite games, and the best trees to sit in(and then promptly not allowing Clint to sit in the good trees because they were for 'big kids only' and Clint's birthday came like, 3 months after the other two's so he was 1 year younger than them for a good majority of the summer (he hated this game)).

It's a very funny, somewhat ironic twist that in the end, Clint became LEAGUES more responsible and formal than his prior mentor, but if you look real close, Flick is still the real 'older bro' in their dynamic! [situationally. they take turns being the older brother]

Been getting alot closer to this one girl. Shes really sweet, beautiful, amazing smile, and just overall a great person. One of my favs to yap with, yapping with my friends is so fun. Especially when there's drama. Heheh.

akutagawa sacrifices himself because he genuinely is prepared to die. he devoted so much of his short lifespan to dazai, but atsushi changed the entire trajectory of the meaning of akutagawa's life

atsushi sacrificed himself, not entirely for akutagawa, but moreso for the ulterior motive of testing the one idea he had left- though for him, the risk was worth either outcome, because either he gets to the bottom of the situation, or he dies saving akutagawa. but akutagawa doesn't know that. a far as he knows, atsushi did that solely to save him.
