I was writing up a completely different post and ended up talking to a couple other people about this, but god, can you imagine how messed up Luis’ connection to community and nature must’ve been while trapped in Valdelobos??? ARGUABLY, community and nature are two of the most important things for a human beings wellbeing, but both of those things were VERY violently but also very slowly stripped from Luis which is so so poignant to me.
Valdelobos wasn’t bombed to complete destruction like Raccoon City or even destroyed in a Bio-Weapon related incident like most other cities in the REverse, it was a slow, trickle effect that built up over time. The wolves around the village got sick with the plagas, Luis’ grandfather got sick and had to burn himself alive, most likely most of the livestock got sick too since we don’t really see a whole lot of them, and eventually the people living there got sick too. Slowly but surely the village was broken down from the inside out by a plague, and not a man-made, fantastical Umbrella corporation virus either, it was just… something that had been lying beneath the village for years. It could’ve happened anywhere, but it just happened to happen in a very isolated, very enclosed valley in the middle of nowhere that Luis just happened to be familiar with.
He just happened to have had a Grandfather who was a prolific hunter. He just happened to have had a great interest in biology and the world around him. And that interest lead to the destruction of not only his home but the surrounding environment too and I CANNOT imagine him being super comfortable just generally being in nature after that!!
Not to mention how messed up his sense of community must be afterwards too!!!!! Like watching the people you grew up with turn into unrecognisable, almost zombie-like creatures hellbent on killing you is downright terrifying!!! Again, I can’t imagine that if he had lived, he’d have had an easy time acclimating to a normal environment around other people again!!! That Boay would have Traumarrr!!!!!!
spinning out real quick about rgu and illusions and futility......the literal castle in the air over ohtori....impossible to reach...inverted and hanging over them like its about to fall.....the planetarium that projects fantasies...that only shows images of the stars and not the real sky......the sports car that reaches impossible speeds and shows its passengers a view of everything they hope for just within reach appears to be doing nothing but driving endlessly in circles, bringing nobody any closer to their goals...the stage lights and headlights and eyeglasses and opera glasses and camera lenses. the images you see are all just a trick of the light
I don't know if I'm stupid for asking this question, but why did Floyd gift reader perfume?? Did he just really dislike Jade's scent on her? Or was it actually Jade I can't tell anymore 😭😭
He wanted Jade to stop being a coward and confess already. T_T Floyd's gestures seem kind and friendly on the surface (perhaps even a little flirtatious to Reader), but to any mer they could easily be mistaken as an attempt at courtship. Floyd just wanted to give his twin a push in the right direction. If anything, the line where Floyd says, “Your new perfume’s lame. Ya gotta get a nicer scent,” is intended to stoke the flames of envy hehe. On some level Jade is aware of this, but he can't dash your hopes when the game hasn't even reached its peak yet. D: so he'll use the half-lie of territorial jealousy even though he's the one feeling that way (not Floyd).
Floyb,,, you're doing your best as the underrated wingman. >_< it's Jade who is being silly!!!
