Some time had passed since the attack at the tea house. For some, life had returned to normal, or at least gained a semblance of it. For the less fortunate, what happened had left a permanent mark...on their bodies or on their minds.

Wanning pretended she was fine, but she'd grown to fear mirrors. The effects have faded with time, but she could still remember.

"Pardon me," she greeted the nobles she encountered on her way to the Princess's quarters. There was truly...an abundance of them. Wanning found herself briefly puzzled by the richly garbed men and dazzlingly jeweled women. She weaved between them with her wrapped bundle, brows lightly furrowed as a few were too engrossed in conversation to even notice their hindrance. Here and there she picked up keywords and finally realized - this was about the prince. Of course.

Wanning eventually arrived before her grace.

Several beauties surrounded Yeongja, and one of them was carrying a small, handheld mirror. The mirror was well crafted with a smooth handle adorned by ribbons and a large ruby. Had this been the past, Wanning would have admired it. Now, she could only avert her gaze.

This delivery was pre-arranged, but the princess was clearly occupied. "Your grace," she put down the package and bowed. "I could return at another time?" Wanning offered with a faint smile, discreetly gesturing at the crowd of lovely ladies. They were all well fragranced, she noted. One at a time, they would have been enchanting. All together...well, Wanning was prone to headaches these days and felt rather eager to flee.

the world came back to him in pieces. first, the mattress beneath him, firm and cool. the shapes light played on his inner eyelids, until he opened them and saw the ceiling above. muttering around him, but it left jiyu feeling as if his head bad been dunked underwater; none of the words seemed clear to him. he closed his eyes and fell asleep again.

the next time he woke up he stayed conscious for longer. there was the nurse, who shared the most recent news with him. conversations with friends that would be hazy in his memory later, but felt like sweet relief at the time. and then, on the third day, jiyu woke up and managed to sit up in the bed he’d been put to.

his legs were shaky beneath him, aching from disuse, but he didn’t feel nauseous or particularly sick. jiyu let the nurse help him dress with only the most basic of protest, and then he took slow, measured steps, and left the room he’d been stuck in the past few days.

there were preparations being made for the princess and her entourage to leave - jiyu had heard as much - and so it was a surprise when he turned a corner and ran into yeongja instead of a hurried servant. jiyu snapped to attention and almost lost his balance when he bent his waist in the customary bow.

“princess, you must excuse my conduct.” the world was swimming before his eyes, but a steadying hand to the wall to his left did much for his recovery. “i’m relieved to see you’re doing well.” then, accompanied by a wry smile: “you should know that your help gossips.”

[Parents – Hwang (Park) Yeong-ja & Hwang Him-chan]

Miyeong’s mother Park Yeongja was born in 1972 to a japanese-korean father and a korean mother. She was born in Ulsan, South Korea but the family moved to Nagoya, Japan in 1979 when Yeongja was 7 years old. Here she lived until she turned 19 years old and had graduated from high school. In 1991 she moved back to her hometown Ulsan in Korea and started to build her own life there as a photographer.

Hwang Himchan, Miyeong’s father, was born in 1973 in Busan, South Korea. He grew up with his korean parents and two older siblings. He graduated from High School in 1992 and went on to study fashion design at Yonsei University.

In 1993 Yeongja was hired for a program at Yonsei University where she met Himchan. They found interest in each other and had a one-night stand. This turned into an unplanned pregnancy for Yeongja and she kind of freaked out.

They both decided to try to work this out together and therefore Yeongja moved to Seoul. In 1993 their first son, Daeseong, was born and they both took part in taking care and raising their son. Through their newborn son they started to get closer and eventually got together in 1995.

Himchan opened his own business in 1996 after finishing his studies at Yonsei. Him and Yeongja got married the same year after finding out, that they were expecting their second child. And in November 1996 their second son, Jiwon, was born.

Himchan’s business was running well and Yeongja had found her place a photographer in his fashion company. They couldn’t have asked for more, when their third and last child was born in 2000. Their only daughter is named Miyeong.

Their daughter quickly showed interest in ice skating and with the support of her parents, she started training professionally with the age of six years old.

Himchan and Yeongja are very supportive of their children’s dreams and hope to make them all possible. While their business is going well, it still doesn’t make them overly rich. Therefore, they live a rather simple life.

Miyeong’s oldest brother Daeseong was born in 1993 and is seven years older than her. He studied computer science and is now working as a ‘IT Project Manager’.

Jiwon is four years older than Miyeong and is born in 1996. He has always shown interest in art and went on to study graphic design. He is now a graphic designer.

Miyeong gets along well with both her brothers. Sadly, they don’t see each other often, since all three of them are quite busy. When they meet each other though, they are very close and goofing around all the time. Miyeong is glad to have such a supportive family and close relationship to her brothers.

jian: a man she respects and genuinely cares for. should house yi be overthrown, jian is wanning's ideal new firelord because she knows he can be trusted to take care of house yue. growing up, they weren't necessarily close, but a certain cliff situation changed their dynamic. now, it would be hard for any house to take wanning's loyalty from jian and house zhao in general.

jiyu: positive relationship. older brother of her dear friend keran. wanning respects jiyu. while they are not close enough to drop the politeness, she would still take an arrow for this one any day.

meilin: should something happen to jian, wanning would want to support meilin into the position of becoming her new ideal firelord. they are friends through mutual hobbies (hunting & traditional dance). wanning taught meilin archery and meilin taught her boldness.

keran: wanning's precious childhood friend. due to the personality difference, wanning always feels like the older one and wants to take care of keran the way she would a younger sister. it is hard for wanning to drop the titles and respect, but keran makes her feel like she can do that.

You turned around in the mirror, running your hand over the small bump already appearing on your front.

You groaned, walking out the bathroom and finding a new top to pull over your torso, one that didn’t hug your figure a bit too tightly. A new top that happened to be Yunho’s, that way, there was no way of it being too small.

“Hey, why are you wearing my clothes?” Yunho chuckled, spoon-feeding Yoojin as the one-year-old gurgled and giggled in joy.

“I’ve gained too much weight, I tried on a t-shirt this morning and it looked like I was trying to wear children’s clothes,” you sighed.

Yunho rolled his eyes, “I bet that’s an over-exaggeration. You can’t even see it!”

You glared at your husband as he laughed.

“I’m serious! If you hadn’t of said that I wouldn’t have even noticed!” he exclaimed.

Yoojin whined as Yunho got up and threw the yogurt pot in the bin, coming back and wiping his son’s face.

“No, no more,” he said, “you ate it all.”

He took Yoojin out of the high-chair, your eldest immediately waddling over to you and placing his hands on your thigh.

You lifted him up, sitting him so he was staring at you as he pressed his hands against your stomach, pressing down hard.

“Careful!” you exclaimed, immediately lifting him up and standing up with him, “hey, you.”

Yoojin just giggled as you walked over and sat on the sofa, cuddling your son as though he was still a tiny baby.

“You alright there?” Yunho chuckled.

Your husband wandered over, his own hand resting on your stomach, his head on your shoulder as he sat beside you, admiring your son.

You sighed, making Yunho look up at you with curiosity written on his face, “baby, I’m pregnant.”

“What?” he asked, “are you serious?”

You nodded, “I found out a couple weeks ago. I’m already three months.”

“Three months?!” Yunho exclaimed, standing up in exasperation before grabbing Yoojin out of your arms, swinging the confused boy round and round, “Yoojin-ie! You’re getting a little sibling!”

Yoojin giggled, though you weren’t sure that he entirely understood the words that his dad was saying.

Yunho sat back down, looking at you in shock.

“We’re really having a second baby?” he asked, as you nodding, rubbing your stomach.

“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner,” you chuckled, “I didn’t realise you’d be this happy.”

Yunho smiled, kissing you, before pulling away exasperated.

“What?” you asked, eyebrows furrowed.

“Ya,” Yunho sighed, “why are you complaining about gaining weight?! Honey, you’re pregnant, that’s all, you look beautiful! When you’re pregnant gaining weight is the best thing ever!”

You laughed humourlessly, “for you.”

Yunho chuckled, “okay, maybe it’s hard. I can’t believe it, though.”

You giggled, playing with the hair on the back of your husband’s head as you leaned up and kissed him.

He smiled as he pulled away, before grabbing your eldest son, holding him close, “you can’t do that to Mummy’s stomach, either. Your little sibling’s in there now!”

“In there?” he repeated as you nodded, Yunho kissing his head.

“So we have to be extra gentle with Mummy,” Yunho said.

Yoojin looked up at you before putting his hand on your stomach gently, kissing it as well, making you and Yunho laugh.

“Well done,” Yunho complimented, opening his arms wide as Yoojin turned around and collapsed into them, “you’re gonna be a good big brother, yeah?”
