im just gonna keep it to kinda hc form bc it was a rly quick thought idk how well it would flesh out into a fic

so we’ll call this college au where jinsoul is maybe a junior and vivi is a grad/med student idk what their majors would be i didn’t think that far ahead

but anyways jinsoul is on the soccer team i think and she’s just a classic jock along with yves, hyunjin, heejin, lippie, and freshmen yeojin and olhye

she’s goalie and everyone always tells her that blocking shots with her head has given her brain damage bc she does not have critical thinking skills

ok shes not rly dumb or anything she just lacks some common sense which is why she thought it would be a good idea to sign up for an organic chemistry class bc it sounded cool (she did not listen to her advisor she really should have)

literally two weeks into the semester and shes already looking for a tutor (fr tho no shame in seeking out help i desperately need a calc tutor lmao)

vivi is a med student (?) so she’s already taken orgchem and decides to make a lil extra cash teaching this endearing but frankly stupid jock

it actually is going pretty well, vivi can tell jinsoul isn’t a totally lost cause she’s just kinda in over her head

they have been workjng together for about a month when jinsoul’s lack of common sense catches up to her once again, this time in the form of captain and best friend yves bugging her about that girlfriend she made up over winter break

so now the obvious solution to this problem is to get a fake girlfriend but it had to be someone nobody on the team knows

cue jinsoul literally begging on her knees for vivi to come to this team party as her girlfriend “just this one time i promise i won’t drink you won’t have to deal with drunk me it will just be a couple hours”

vivi agrees pretty easy bc she does actually like jinsoul as a person and she’s not bad looking. kinda a catch tbh

so they create their whole fake backstory and plan for the night in advance

(vivi has to keep jinsoul from making herself look “too cool” because it’s getting kind of ridiculous and if they want anyone to believe their story jinsoul can’t say she brought vivi horseback riding when she has never seen a horse in real life)

anyways they get to the party and everything is going well at first, vivi is enjoying being close to casual jinsoul when they aren’t worrying about an exam or test. so what if jinsoul’s hand is really warm and soft and she never wants to let go

things start to go haywire when the freshmen show up. turns out one of them knows vivi. and it’s the worst possible option.

yeojin recognizes vivi as her older sister’s (haseul) best friend and immediately knows jinsoul could never get with such a normal, gentle, and smart woman.

so yeah yeojin immediately figures it out and makes jinsoul pay her to not expose them lmao

i think thats enough for now but i definitely see myself continuing this. just some cracky backstory i guess

my bias + bias wrecker:

this is weird... if you asked, I’d say Jisun and Chaeyoung respectively (call me shallow but Jisun is super pretty and I really like Chaeyoung’s voice and also her fun! outfit was my favourite) but honestly it’s kind of interchangeable.

first time i heard of them:

I think I might have vaguely heard of DKDK, but I became more aware of them from Love Bomb, which is the first song of theirs I ever heard.

when i became a fan:

When their fun! MV was recommended to me on YouTube and I decided to try it, ruining any hopes I had of concentrating on exams. (still did well though)

(answering these next few but I still haven’t listened to every b-side)

favourite (and least favourite) title track:

This is so hard... I like all of their title tracks. I’ll say that my favourite is either DKDK or fun!

Glass Shoes has never been a favourite of mine. (that notification sound effect always throws me off, aldjkakala)

favourite (and least favourite) b-side:

Cannot choose a favourite so: Coloring, Love Rumpumpum, Pinocchio, Be With You, 22Century Girl.

As for my least favourite, probably Dancing Queen. I’ve gotten a bit more used to it but I wouldn’t really go out of my way to listen to it.

I was actually thinking about this today (not specifically fromis_9, just every MV ever) and my favourite is DKDK by a landslide. It’s just so endearing and sweet, and nothing gets me like Hayoung finding the big cat :’)

(then again, I’m not a fan of stopping the song entirely for that scene, but oh well)

I don’t really care for vlog/behind the scenes style MVs (since they usually contain extra audio), but apart from those ones, I don’t really care for Glass Shoes (I like pastels but the whole thing seems a bit plain).

favourite (and least favourite) album:

Given that the only albums I’ve listened to fully are from.9 and fun factory... fun factory (I like 100% of the songs on it. All three of them.)

a concept i wished they’d try:

Honestly I’m fine with them sticking with cute and quirky, but I honestly think that they’d do well in a spooky concept (think Dreamcatcher) based on their Red Light performance.

what i like most about them:

There are a lot of things (eg. Seoyeon writing Coloring, the variety in voices, the way they seem to have fun in their performances, a lot of their styling) but the one most on my mind is the way that they approach the cute and quirky concepts without making it weird (eg. sexual). It’s so common for people to sexualise those aesthetics but I’ve never felt uncomfortable or concerned when I’ve watched their cute MVs (which is a relief given I’m close in age to the members).
