WIP Wednesday (9/11) | Arsonist Neil / Firefighter Andrew AU (Part 229)
"Oh. Yeah, um. Dinner's almost ready. Aaron said you like Italian food, so we made lasagna and garlic bread," Katelyn says, nodding to the kitchen door. Andrew nods, hoping these two have a better handle on seasonings than he does.
"Sounds great." Andrew says, subtly patting his clammy palms against his thighs. The three of them stand there awkwardly, tension almost palpable.
"Well, um," Katelyn starts, gently clapping her hands together. "Come on in and sit down. I'll grab us something to drink."
Once she's gone, Aaron leans in and whispers, "Do you drink red wine?”
Andrew's face pinches. “Do you?”
“Yes. Sometimes. Do you like it?”
"I don't know. Never tried it." Andrew answers with a shrug. He really doesn't want to drink tonight, especially something he's never tried.
"Water instead?" Aaron asks, reading his mind. When Andrew nods, Aaron starts into the kitchen. "I'll be right back. Go ahead and sit down, okay?"
Once he's alone, Andrew allows himself to look around a little bit more. He finds a smattering of photos on the wall and is surprised to find he's in a couple. One with Aaron and Nicky and Kevin, all in their uniforms. And one of them standing side by side, the day they graduated. Andrew sneaks his phone out of his pocket and snaps a photo of each before going to take a seat at the table.
There's a crisp white table cloth draped over it and a silly little wreath-type thing in the center. A couple of battery-operated candles flickering where they're nestled among the greenery. Battery-operated is good, Andrew approves. He's been on way too many calls where someone just 'forgot' a candle. (How the fuck do you forget there's an open flame in your house?)
As he waits, he drums his fingers on the tabletop and tries to acclimate to the strange world he's stepped into. He can hear soft voices in the other room, but he doesn't care to eavesdrop for once in his life. A couple of minutes pass and Aaron comes back out with three wine glasses, two half full with red wine and a third with water. He passes the water to Andrew and sets the other two glasses down.
"We'll be back with food in just a second." He holds up a finger as he disappears again. Andrew sips his water and waits. A few moments later, there's three plates on the table and Aaron and Katelyn have settled into the other two seats. Aaron to his left and Katelyn on his right. Andrew almost feels cornered, but he ignores the feeling and unwraps his silverware from the cloth napkin.

Fic! Finally! Some more from that au with Mike under house arrest at Kevin’s place.
Sunshine and buttercups this arrangement is not.
~~
While better than prison time, there were still issues that could come with house arrest. Social isolation could be an issue, though in the current situation, to everyone’s at least mild annoyance, it was not. Cabin fever was always a potential issue, especially when combined with the sort of cleithrophobia one may develop after, say, being trapped in a small space for an extended period of time with two other assholes and a kidnapper with complete power over the situation. That was the sort of thing that was solved by making sure an individual got court-mandated therapy and the right to get it in person so one could get out of the house for about an hour and a half every week. Enough time to get therapy and some Starbucks, but not enough time to solve one of the more seemingly minor issues of shopping.
Everyone needed shit, even if it was just a refill on toilet paper, and one couldn’t exactly make an emergency run to Walgreens. This could be mitigated by having somebody else living in the home who can run off and shop, and by the presence of online shopping, which was surely a godsend in these situations. The problem then being that you either need to go to a secondary party every time you need something, or you need to have your own money.
Mike had been a valuable lesson for the team that just because you came from money, doesn’t mean you have it. It would be a few years before he got access to his trusts, and his personal accounts had long run dry. His mom had been more than willing to take the ‘oh, my son has vanished, whatever shall I do’ situation as an excuse to stop sending over his allowance. The Tennysons and Rook had nodded sagely upon learning this, talking about how they wouldn’t want to fund somebody pulling the shit he had either, but he, Kevin, and Cooper had all shared That Look over it. The one where, while the severity differed, you had all been in similar family situations, and knew damn well that wasn’t it. After all, they hadn’t even bothered to bring up to the others, what were even the odds the Plumbers had gotten in touch with his family when he was arrested versus her having found out what had been going on when the shit he’d been pulling at Friedkin came to light.
So, nagging his housemate every time he needed something it was. And when you came into the situation with nothing but the clothes on your back and a bad attitude? That got tiring real quick. Which was certainly one way to get an allowance again. It wasn’t like Kevin couldn’t spare a hundred or so a week to not have to field every damn ‘I want this book’ or ‘run out and grab me a pizza or something, I’m starving’. (He knew the magic word, he’d heard him use it, he just refused to say it to him, the bastard.) The extra expense was well worth that little bit extra peace.
Most of the time.
“Michael,” Kevin called from the kitchen, “why do I give you money?”
“So that I can buy my own make-up and extra meals without having to nag you about it,” came the response from where Mike was curled up on the couch with a book. He gave no indication he’d even noticed the tightness in Kevin’s tone.
“Yes, exactly, So, second question, where’s my fucking forks!?”
“Going to somebody with similarly bad taste, I’m sure.” With a scowl on his face Kevin stormed to the kitchen entry, a fork in hand that had very much not been in the drawer at breakfast.
“There was nothing wrong with my silverware!”
“If you live in a rundown shack in the Appalachians, maybe.” Mike pointedly turned a page. “I’m not living like that, Levin.”
“The fucking gall-”
“Just be glad I don’t have the savings yet to get the bathroom redone.” There was a long silence as Kevin visibly grappled with the desire to plunge the new silver into Mike’s skull.
“Why,” he eventually growled instead, “am I keeping you here.”
“Something something, fuck the Plumbers, something something, basic decency, something something, how dare Gwendolyn try to keep Charmcaster in your apartment.” Kevin heaved a long, heavy sigh through his nose.
“Your money,” he said, “goes to your shit. Leave my crap out of it.” Then turned and stormed back inside. Mike just hummed nonchalantly.
“Mm-hm. The flatware will be here on Friday.”

Noise Complaint- Colby Brock
This is a request from one of my amazing readers on here. "Can you do one where the reader is Sam or Jakes neighbor and they are trying to sleep or edit so they go over and to tell them to quiet down and they meet Colby or something like that please. And anonymously please"
Tired was an understatement. You were exhausted. After a long day, you were just finally coming home at 1:30 in the morning. Which was insanely annoying because you knew that you were going to wake up late the next morning. It was a stressful day, you woke up late for your hair appointment which in turn, made you late for your nail appointment, then of course you were late to your photoshoot which was supposed to be at 12 in the afternoon, but instead you made it there at 12:45 due to traffic. Plus you had to film a couple of videos with your friends plus your own video, then they wanted to go shopping which lead to hours of spending money, and then finally you all made it back to their shared house, where you lost track of time, hints why you came home so late. It wore you out.
You didn’t even care that you left all the bags full of your new clothes and jewelry laying on the floor of your living room. All you wanted to was go change out of your uncomfortable clothes, wash all the makeup off your face, and go to sleep. You were asleep on your feet- dead on your feet? Whatever the saying was. You sighed in satisfaction as you patted dry your freshly cleaned face. Looking up in the mirror you saw you now clean face accompanied with your puffy eyes, eyelids hanging low. Walking into your room you took satisfaction with the dark and coolness of the space. Slipping on an oversized shirt and some pajama shorts, you finally crawled into bed.
There were no dreams playing in your head, just blackness, pure peace. That was until loud music invaded your peaceful sleep. You groaned and turned over in bed, you threw your leg over the large space, looking for a cold spot. Once you found one you smiled softly and snuggled your face into your pillow. The music continued to play loudly through the walls making you groan and lift your head to look at the wall. You knew your neighbor, it was Sam with his girlfriend Katrina. She didn’t live with him but she was over a lot. You met them a couple of days after they moved in last year. You guys weren’t close but you were friends. With being neighbors and being friends you came up with a knocking code. Two is to say that you’re being too loud, three is that one of you needs something, and four is just to say hi. Raising your wrist you knocked on the wall twice. After a minute of not getting a response, you knocked again but this time a little louder. Again no response. The music still blasted, keeping you awake. “Fuck” you groaned while getting out of bed.
You bother to fix your messy bun, you just slipped on your vans that were laying on the floor next to your bed. Wrapping your arms around your body, you walked out of your apartment and straight to the door next to yours. Lifting your hand you finally banged loud on the door, not caring if you sound like an ass. You were tired and they were keeping you up. You kept in mind that it was a friday and that it was the weekend, time to party. Finally the door swung open to reveal a tall man with platinum hair and red solo cup in his hand. He offered you a soft smile before smirking, “Saaam you’re in trouuuble” he yelled into the full apartment. You smiled and shook your head at the boy who just shot you a wink and walked away. Sam approached the door but before he could get a word out, Katrina barreled towards you, almost knocking you over. “Oh my god,” Kat gasped in your ear. “I missed you girl.” Releasing her from the hug you reply, “Missed you too babes”
Sam chuckled and pull Kat to his side, “So what’s up?” he asked, his eyebrows drawing in together. You sigh, “ I’m really sorry Sam, you know I love a good party and I bet that this is an amazing kickback and I hate to interrupt-” Sam cut of your rambles with a cute chuckle and shake of his head, “Yes Y/n, I’ll turn down the music” You let out a breathy laugh and shook your head. “Sorry and thank you.” “Of course.” You turned to leave but Sam stopped you, “Wait I have some new merch that will be released in the next few days but as you know, me and a couple of my friends are starting to move tomorrow so let me give you some pieces now.” he explained. “Oh, okay. Great. Thank you sam.” “No problem dude, come in.” Sam stepped back, letting you in. You stepped in and you became very aware of the fact that you were in pajamas and the large shirt made it look like you had no pants on. Katrina saw the hesitation on your face so she slipped her arm around your waist and started to lead you into the living room where all of their friends were in. “It’s okay girl, you look fine.” she reassured you. You slightly nodded your head and gave her a smile.
“Guys this is Y/n, Sam’s neighbor.” she announced to the group. “Y/n that is Corey, Jake, Reggie, Ariya, Kevin, Griffin, Mike,” she pointed to each person as she said their names. “That is Tara, Devyn, Xepher, and Cassie. Tara is Jake’s girlfriend, Cassie is Reggie’s, and Xepher is with Griffin.” “Who used to be my girlfriend,” the one named Mike pointed out. You folded your lips in your mouth, “Welcome to the family meeting” Kevin said, smiling a brilliant smile. You smiled back, “It’s nice to meet you all.” They all seemed nice and you loved their style, it was just like yours. But one guy caught your eye more than the rest, the one with the striking blue eyes and blue hair to match. You eyed if for a moment before looking away because you didn’t want to get caught staring like some creep. Just then Sam came out of his bedroom holding a black hoodie that said xplr written on the strings that tighten the hoodie, a light pink hoodie that said never normal on it, a black shirt that also said never normal, and a white shirt that said I think she wants to be me on it. “Here you go,” he said when handing them off to you. You loved them and how soft they were. “ Thank you so much Sam but you didn’t have to do this,” you said taking them from his hands and laying them in your arms.
Sam wove his hand in the air, “No problem really, I just want some of your merch when it comes out,” he said, winking at you. You giggled and nodded your head, “Sure thing.” You turned back to the group and gave them one last smile and wave before making your way to the door again. “Goodnight guys, thanks again.” “Goodnight Y/n.” Sam said giving a soft smile before closing the door just to open it a second later, “I promise to keep it down mom,” “oh fuck you!” You laughed before walking into your apartment. You could hear their mixed laughter, making you laugh to yourself before closing your door. You walked back into your room and laid down, your mind still having the blue haired boy in your mind, you didn’t hear his name when Kat said it but you swore it started with a C or something around there. You smiled to yourself when you heard the music turn down. Laying back on the bed, you fell right back asleep.
“So who was that?” Mike asked Sam once him and Kat sat back down on the couch. “Oh that’s our neighbor. She does Youtube just like us, met her a couple of days after moving in here. She’s super nice.” “And pretty.” Kat chimed in. The girls nodded in agreement, “Yeah she was gorgeous.” Tara said. “How come she never came over for pizza night? You’ve known her for what? Almost a year at this point?” Reggie questioned. Sam shook his head and reached for his red solo cup, “I have in the past but she said that she didn’t want to intrude on a friend thing. I told her that she wasn’t but she insisted.” “That sucks, I would love to get to know her.” Devyn pouted, slumping into the couch. “Maybe I’ll convince her to come to the next one,” Kat suggested. Which everyone agreed to. Colby couldn’t stop thinking about how beautiful you were. Clean face, no makeup and you still were beautiful. You seemed nice. “Hello. Earth to Colbyyy,” Kevin said waving his hand in front of his face. He shook his head to try and clear his thoughts, “What- sorry. What’s up?” Kevin smirked, “Whatcha thinkin about?” Kevin teased his friend. His cheeks flushed and he felt them heat up, “ Nothing.” “Mmhm. So you weren’t thinking about the hot neighbor?” Ariya asked, tilting his head. Colby’s cheeks heat up more, “OOOO he’s blushing!!” Tara yelled pointing her finger at Colby’s red face.
“Shut up,” he grumbled. Everyone shared a laugh before all conversations resumed and the night went on for another hour and a half before everyone left. Colby threw his keys on the counter before tiredly waddling into his room before crashing on his soft bed. The next morning he woke and reached over to try and grab his phone. But when his hand landed on his nightstand, his phone was nowhere to be found. He lifted his head and groaned when he couldn’t see his phone. Colby sat up and threw on a hoodie that he had lying on the foot of his bed before walking towards the apartment door. Looking at the clock on the over he saw that it was 11, he knew that Sam would be up. Once he reached Sam’s door, he raised his fist to knock, soon after Sam’s voice rang out, “IT’S OPEN!” Colby opened the door and walked in, “Hey brother, I left my phone here last night. Have you seen it?” he asked. When he looked up he saw Kat and you on the coach, “Oh yea, it’s on the table brother.” Sam called from his kitchen where he was packing his silverware. “ Thank you.” Sam hummed in response.
Colby walked into the living room where you and Kat were. “Hey, Y/n right?” Colby asked. You looked up from the tiktok that Katrina was showing you. “Yup. I’m sorry I missed your name last night.” you said your smile morphing into a slight frown. Colby internally melted from how cute you looked in that moment. “Colby,” he replied. You smiled wide at that, “I love that name.” you complimented. Colby smirked, “I would love to have your number.” Your eyes widened, “That was smooth as fuck. I’ll give you points.” You laughed. Katrina and Sam laughed at your remark, “Give me your phone,” Colby smiled and threw you his phone, you pressed your number into it then threw it back. Colby smiled at the name, you put your name in with a black heart at the end with a winky face. You stood up from the couch and yawned, “I’m going to take a nap but I’ll see you guys tonight?” You asked about fixing your pants and looked over at Sam. He nodded, “Yup.” Colby’s eye’s widened along with his smile, “You’re coming over tonight? To hang out with us?” You laughed at Colby’s dumbfounded expression and nodded, “Yeah, figured I’d give it a whirl.” You teased. Colby playfully rolled his eyes, “haha very funny. We’re very funny and nice.” You winked at him, “I’m sure you are. See you later neighbors.” Kat stood up and followed you to the door.
“I wanna take a nap with you!”

Sushi ~e.d
A/n: ok so, yes, this is another Ethan story, I’m sorry I can’t help it, he’s my baby. Anywho- this is based off a lucid dream I had A WHILE ago- but are we surprised this took me so long to write? (the answer’s no lol) I was just mentioning the whole dream thing because, this is my story so of course it doesn’t make complete sense- sue me.
Summary: You’re going out for dinner to your favorite Japanese restaurant that happens to be packed. The only available seats are at the sushi bar next to two young guys You don’t realize you know the two men until it’s too late- but is this just a blessing in disguise?
Warnings; Fluff, anxiety, fluff, and, oh hey- some more fluff.

“Would you just walk?!” I exclaimed, pushing- or trying I should say- my 6 4’ dad through the little curtain that has a very large sumo wrestler that never fails to creep me out.
My mom just sighs behind us, “Kevin would you stop being an ass, we’re all- oh,” my mom stops mid-scold. We all stand close to the corner as we look around our favorite local Japanese restaurant.
The place is packed, every table and booth occupied by families or teens chatting loudly. Waitresses move around quickly table to table and I just happen to see that the sushi bar seems to have empty seats. “Good evening, Welcome to Wasabi, is it just the three of you tonight?” The hostess asks us.
“Y-yes, just the three of us,” My mom replies still seemingly shocked at how many people are in the small place.
“Okay, I’m sorry but there’s a 30-minute wait on any booths and tables right now-”
“Can’t we sit at the sushi bar?” I say, pointing over to the counter where two people are sitting, three seats open on the left of them, and three on the right of them. My parents look at each other, me, then the hostess, my dad raising his eyebrows as though he’s asking if that’s okay.
“Yes, of course, I’m sorry I should’ve asked if you’d be fine sitting there,” She smiles at us, grabbing three menus.
“Oh, it’s totally cool, no worries,” My mom smiles reassuring the hostess, who now that I’m getting a closer look at, seems to be new.
We make our way over to the bar when one of the men sitting at the counter turns to the other, giving me a view of his side profile that I know way too well. I can’t help stopping completely, my mom bumping into me and asking what’s wrong.
My throat feels tight, my hands are clammy and my mouth feels like someone just stuffed cotton in it. “Y/n, are you okay?” My mom questions worry evident in her eyes as she searched my glossed over ones.
I can’t speak, I can only move my eyes between my mom and the two tall, loud men sitting at the sushi bar. My mouth keeps opening and I can only imagine that I look something like a fish out of water. No way is it them.
My dad sits next to them and looks back, realizing my mom and I are not following him anymore his brows furrow and he looks around confused at what’s happening. “Oh- honey is that- are those the-” I cut my mom off by nodding my head rapidly.
“I-” I clear my throat trying to dislodge the lump in my throat, “I’m going to go to the bathroom,” I push past my mom and keep my head down as I pass the sushi bar and avoid my dad’s worried looks.
I glance up and see the older twin filming a snap video of his younger twin messily eating a piece of sushi and they both start laughing. I walk down the small hallway and go into the bathroom. Looking myself in the mirror I pray that this isn’t a dream.
Okay, breathe, it’s just the Dolan Twins sitting at the sushi bar at the local restaurant in your town, sitting next to your parents at the sushi bar. I look at myself in the mirror and try to fix my hair a little, shifting my shirt out of habit. I add a little bit of chapstick to my lips.
I take a deep breath and walk back out into the loud restaurant. When I get back to the sushi bar I’m surprised- to say the least- to see that everyone’s shifted down to the right one seat, leaving me with nowhere to sit.
That’s not what has my mouth hanging open- it’s the loud obnoxious laughs coming from not only my parents- but the twins as well. Holy shit. My parents are laughing and joking with Ethan and Grayson fucking Dolan.
I slowly make my way over to my mom who’s sitting in the seat that was supposed to be mine. I shyly tap her shoulder, she turns around and gives me a soft smile, “Oh, honey! We had to move down but there’s a seat next to Ethan.”
I bite my lip and look up, seeing that I’ve become the center for attention. I make eye contact with the older twin and he smiles at me, calming me a little bit as I start to stumble over to the seat next to him my hands start to sweat and I crack my knuckles out of habit when nervous, “O-ok.”
I try my best to gracefully slide into the high seat next to him without leaning too close to him. He does a quick scan over my body, his tongue coming out to lick his lips before he clears his throat and looks up at me. Once he notices that I’m already staring at him he blushes, and I feel like my entire body flushes and is on fire.
He sends me a shy smile and I bite my lip to hide the wide grin that is fighting its way onto my face. I feel like I’ve just won a medal or something, I made Ethan Dolan blush.
“Ok, so I’m Ethan, and I’m assuming you’re Y/n. Your parents told us a bit about yourself.”
“Oh God,” I groan, putting my head in my hands and pushing my hair back before looking at him again and very shyly asking, “what’d they tell you?”
He chuckles at my reaction and I realize that his laugh is my favorite sound- on and off-camera. His dimples show as he replies casually, in a cocky tone, “Just that you’re 17, a senior, really into YouTube…” he trails off and sends me a teasing smirk.
“Great!” I say sarcastically, “so they told you I watch y’alls videos?”
“And that you might have some Dolan Twins merch in the back of your closet- I was a little upset to hear you don’t wear it much anymore, to be honest.”
I drop my head to the counter with a small strangled noise then sit back up straight and clear my throat looking him dead in his hazel eyes, “Ok, look- stop making that face,” I point an accusatory finger at him as he bites his lip to suppress his smile and holds his hands up in surrender, I roll my eyes at him, “I’m not like- I don’t know everything about you and a bunch of weird facts and shit like ‘Did you know Ethan Dolan sprained his right knee when he was 4 years old after his sister pushed him down the stairs?’ Ok? Yes, I watch your videos, yes I follow you on social media, yes I’ve been watching you since like before 4OU, Yes- ok, I used to have a fan account at one point- but I’m not like that anymore. I got your merch for my birthday a year ago and I- I don’t really fit it anymore so I don’t wear it. Ok,” I take a deep breath, “that’s it.”
“Wow- okay, a lot of information to process but I think I get it now. I’m sorry for teasing you, I was just joking.”
“I know you were- but I also know that you two deal with crazy fans and I want you to know I’m not one of them.”
He sends me a smile and is about to say something when we’re interrupted by the waitress placing my food in front of me. My mouth starts to water at the sight of one of my favorite meals- shrimp fried rice. “Damn, that looks good,” Ethan hums from next to me.
I look up at him through my lashes, “You want to split it with me? There’s no way I’ll be able to finish this, I never do,” I laugh and gesture to the bowl.
“Oh no, it’s-” his eyebrows raise at my stern look, and I slightly push the bowl closer to him, putting it right between us, he sighs and gives me a crooked smile, picking up his silverware, “I guess one bite wouldn’t hurt, right?” I nod my head, agreeing with him, and hand him the soy sauce.
Twenty minutes later we were laughing and we had all fallen into a very comfortable flow of chatter and silence and my nerves were dissolved almost fully. My mom and dad get up with Grayson to go over and pay the bill while Ethan and I finish up our food.
As Ethan steals a shrimp from my designated side of the bowl- again- I hit his fork with mine causing him to drop it and his fork hits the side of the bowl with a loud clatter, making everyone look at us as we both just look at each other. We both grow red in the face and start laughing.
Once our laughter died down a little I realized I was getting a little chilly so I set my fork down and rubbed my bare arms to try and get some warmth. “You cold?”
Ethan’s voice startles me slightly and I just smile at him before grabbing my fork again to steal my shrimp back, “Just a little, but m’fine. It’s not that bad.”
He sighs and shakes his head slightly, “Well, I don’t believe you,” I’m about to question him when he stands up abruptly. He starts tugging his large hoodie off his body, as he pulls it over his head, his long-sleeve comes up a little. I blush before quickly averting my eyes from his prominent v-line and try to keep my mind from diving head-first into the gutter, “Here,” he says in a soft, but commanding voice, pushing the hoodie towards me.
I sigh and look up at him, “What’re the chances of you still giving me that hoodie even if I tell you I’m really not that cold and I’ll be fine?” I raise an eyebrow at him.
He smiles at me, his dimples showing and the mole on his cheek raising slightly. He shrugs and pushes it into my lap, “Very high.”
I shake my head and slide out of my seat, “Fine,” I pull the hoodie on over my head and as I pull my hair out the back, I feel a hand against my face lightly pushing the hair out of my face.
My breath hitches as my eyes meet Ethan’s. He leans in closer, his lips brushing against my cheek before going to my ear, “What’re the chances of you giving me your phone number so we can hang out again and keep in touch?”
I look up at him through my lashes, grabbing his hand and leaning up to his ear, whispering just as softly as he did, “Very high.”
I pull away slowly and he smiles at me. When I return the smile he winks. I snort and roll my eyes, grabbing my phone off the bar, I hand it to him as he pushes his phone into my hand. Already pulled up to a new contact page, I put in my number and name into his phone. I quickly open his camera and take a picture with my tongue out, fingers up in a ‘peace’ symbol with my right eye dropped into a wink, I set that as my contact photo before he suddenly grabs me and pulls me into his arms.
I gasp as my back meets his hard chest and he wraps one arm around me, my phone in his other hand, the camera pulled up and pointing towards our faces, “Smile baby,” he kisses the side of my head quickly before smiling at the camera. My face flushes deep red and I grin at the camera. The butterflies in my stomach from the pet name are so strong that I feel like I might fall over.
“Okay, lovebirds, let’s go,” Grayson’s voice brings us back to reality and I realize that my parents have already stepped outside.
We walk outside and I pull the sleeves of Ethan’s hoodie further down so that I can grab them with my hands, making ‘hoodie paws’ as some people put it. I look down to hide the constant blush that’s on my face when Ethan wraps his arm around my waist again. I look over at my parents, worried to see their reactions only to find them smiling softly at us before looking away once they saw I was watching them.
I turn and bury my head in Ethan’s chest, wanting to feel his warmth again and have him hug me. I wrap my arms around his neck and he ducks his head down to put it in the crook of my neck, his scent completely engulfs just like it did when I put his hoodie on and I smile at the sweet, soothing smell. We can faintly hear my parents getting Grayson’s number and bidding him goodbye.
We reluctantly pull away from each other, very slowly. Ethan smiles at me and kisses my nose, “I promise you- we’re going to hang out soon. I’ll call you later, yeah?”
“You better,” I say back and lean up to kiss his nose.
I turn out of his grip and go to quickly hug Grayson, “It was so nice meeting you,” I grin up at him and he mirrors my expression.
“It was awesome meeting you too, Y/n, you have some pretty cool parents,” he chuckles.
I look over at my parents saying goodbye to Ethan before my mom catches my eye and winks. I turn back to Grayson, “Yeah, I really do.”

moments | a destiel fic
read here on ao3
Every once in a while, usually in inopportune moments, his love for Cas nearly stops his heart and has him choked up.
He’d fooled himself for about three days when Cas had moved in. He’d mentally noted the man’s stellar looks while helping him bring boxes in, but he’d promised himself that was as far as it would go, especially with Cas being his roommate.
Did a promise to yourself really count if you were crossing your fingers against it to begin with? One such inopportune moment: a rainy Friday night about three weeks after Cas moves in. They’re on their couch; neither of them want to leave the apartment, and they can’t agree on a movie, so Cas flips to Lifetime and declares that they’ll watch charmingly shitty romcoms instead. Dean huffs and grumbles about it but some Lifetime movies are good, okay? Not that he’d admit that to anyone, much less Cas. He looks over and sees Cas sipping his wine. He’s in a ratty old t-shirt and baggy sweats; the mundane scene makes Dean forget how to breathe. It’s not like he hasn’t noticed how adorable Cas is before—every scrunch of his nose when he’s woken too early in the morning or laughs really hard, every satisfied smile when he finally gets his morning coffee—but something about this particular scene just makes his heart thump harder in his chest.
It happens again a week later.
Dean drags Cas to karaoke at the nearby bar, promising Cas that he’ll have fun. They meet up with Dean’s group of friends at the bar—Charlie and her girlfriend Jo, Benny, Garth, Kevin, and Alfie—and, though he can tell Cas is nervous, he fits in with Dean’s group of friends effortlessly. It’s reassuring and, at the same time, only makes Dean fall for him that much harder.
By the time they leave that night, Cas and Charlie have already made plans to start a D&D campaign and Benny’s coming over Friday for dinner with his girlfriend. It’s so domestic and Dean should hate it—they’re not even dating—but it just puts a huge grin on his face.
Two weeks after that, he finally caves and calls his mom. He’s been working toward this call for a while and he’s not entirely sure he’ll get through it this time, but it’s worth a shot. Cas is out with his own friends for the next few hours, so he sprawls on the couch as he catches up with her.
“So what’s the real reason you called?” she finally asks. He can almost see the smirk on her face.
“What, I can’t just want to talk to my own mother?” Dean replies, feigning annoyance.
Mary snorts. “When have you ever called me just because? I know you better than you’d like to admit. Who is she?”
Dean clears his throat quietly. He’d dreaded this part of the conversation, honestly. He’d come out to his parents senior year of high school, nearly eight years ago now, but he’s still not quite sure they really get it. “It’s, uh… it’s a he, actually.” Mary hums but doesn’t reply, which only makes him more nervous. “Shit, sorry, maybe I shouldn’t have-”
“Dean,” she cuts him off sharply, and he’s not entirely sure if he should be relieved or terrified. “I was just waiting for you to continue. You know I don’t care who you end up with, as long as you’re happy, right?”
He can feel a blush creep onto his cheeks. Thank god he’s alone. “You don’t?”
Mary sighs. “No, Dean, of course not. I’m sorry I didn’t make that clear before now.”
He smiles to himself, picking at a loose thread on his t-shirt. “Thanks.”
“So,” Mary prompts. “Who is he?”
“It’s, um…” If he says it out loud, he’ll only be confirming his feelings, which won’t make them go away any easier… “It’s Cas.”
“Your roommate Cas?”
“Yeah, he’s…” Dean whines softly in the back of his throat, flinging his arm over his face. “I didn’t mean to, it just kinda happened. Sometimes I just look at him—god, this sounds so cheesy—and everything just feels right.”
Mary doesn’t say anything. He waits for another minute, both still nothing.
“Are… did I freak you out?”
Mary laughs. “No, sweetheart. I’m just not sure what you want me to say.”
Dean whines. “I want you to tell me how to stop crushing on my roommate.”
“Are you sure that’s what you want? It certainly doesn’t sound like it is.”
“But he’s my roommate, and a really good friend. What if I say something and he doesn’t feel the same way? Then I lose him completely.”
She hums and Dean can practically feel her shrug through the phone. “Dean, hon, I don’t know what you want me to say. It seems like you really like him.”
“I do.” he whines, running a hand through his hair.
She chuckles softly before continuing, “then you have to decide if it’s worth the risk. Sure, maybe he doesn’t like you back—though I find that hard to imagine, if I’m being honest—”
“Mom, you’re a bit biased there, aren’t ya?”
He hears a quiet laugh before she resumes her train of thought, “but maybe he does like you back, and you’ll be happier than you are now.”
Dean pouts. “Aren’t you supposed to have some romantic wisdom for me or something? Like, ‘if he does this he likes you’ or something like that?”
“Can’t you just use Google for that?” she snarks. “Besides, you don’t want advice, you just want someone to tell you to pull your head out of your ass. So, Dean, pull your head out of your ass and ask your cute roommate out.”
Dean huffs, but he does feel better now than he had before. “I will, I will, jeez.” He pauses, smiling to himself. “Thanks, Mom.”
“Of course, sweetheart. Let me know how it goes!”
He doesn’t have a chance to respond before she says her goodbyes and hangs up. He drops his phone on his chest, scrubbing his hands over his face as he heaves a sigh.
The third time it happens is two days later. It’s a Saturday morning and both he and Cas slept in. Dean finally gets out of bed a little after ten, starting the coffee machine before deciding on breakfast. He’s halfway through a batch of chocolate chip pancakes when Cas finally shuffles into the kitchen. Dean knows better than to have a conversation with him this early, so he ignores him until he hears the happy sigh that signals he’s gotten his coffee.
“Mornin, Cas.”
“Good morning, Dean. Are those chocolate chip?”
Dean grins. “Course they are. There’s a bunch ready if you wanna eat.”
Cas hums, sipping his coffee before setting the mug on the counter and grabbing plates and silverware for both of them. “I’ll wait until you’re finished cooking.”
Dean nods, pouring the remaining batter on the skillet. The plate of pancakes winds up on the table once the last few are flipped onto the plate and Dean takes his seat across the table from Cas. It’s the first time he’s gotten a good look at the man this morning and Dean nearly chokes on his coffee.
He’s in nothing but an old t-shirt and boxers and his hair is ridiculously messy, like someone had spent the night running their fingers through it. It has Dean’s stomach growling for something other than food, so he quickly tears his eyes away from his roommate and digs into his breakfast. His mother’s words keep creeping into the forefront of his mind, though. What if Cas does like him back, and morning could be even better than this? He doesn’t even know if Cas is into guys to begin with… but there’s a quick fix for that.
“Charlie and I are going shopping tomorrow to pick up some stuff for Pride. Do you need anything?” It’s a subtle enough question, he hopes.
Cas quirks an eyebrow at him, finishing his sip of coffee before answering. “You’re going to Pride?”
Uh oh. Maybe he shouldn’t have brought it up… “Yeah, me, Charlie, Jo, Benny, and a couple other friends you haven’t met yet. We go every year.”
Cas hums. “I’ve never been. Were you inviting me or just asking me if I needed something from the store?”
Dean chuckles. “Both? You’re welcome to join us. Charlie wants to get a few more flags for her and Jo and I should probably get one to carry around, the one in my room’s a bit big.”
“Can I come with you? Would Charlie mind?”
He shrugs but texts Charlie just in case. “I doubt it. She’d probably be thrilled, honestly.”
Sure enough, Charlie texts back an emphatic yes, so an hour later, the two of them are in Dean’s car, heading to Charlie and Jo’s apartment.
“What’s it like?” Cas asks softly, startling Dean out of his thoughts.
“Pride?” Dean asks. Cas nods, though his eyes don’t meet Dean’s. “It’s… pretty fuckin’ awesome, actually. The first year I went I thought I’d hate it but there’s something so cool about seeing so many queer people celebrating who they are.”
Charlie and Jo climb in before Cas can respond, so their conversation ends there.
“Cas! I’m so happy you came. What’re you looking for?”
Cas smiles at her shyly and it’s one of the cutest smile Dean’s ever seen. “I’m not sure yet. I’m curious to see what there is.”
Charlie grins. “You won’t be disappointed.”
Their first stop at the nearby mall is H&M. Jo ends up finding her outfit there, so the three of them linger outside the shop while she checks out.
“Pride shop?” Dean asks when Jo finally emerges, chuckling when both girls grin at him.
“Pride shop?” Cas repeats, obviously confused.
Dean chuckles, motioning for Cas to follow them. “Every year around Pride, this shop pops up in the mall that sells all sorts of Pride gear. Pins, flags, all sorts of t-shirts and tank tops and crop tops with Pride-related things on them. It’s awesome, makes it super easy to get everything you need.”
Charlie and Jo wander off into the depths of the shop almost immediately, leaving Dean alone with Cas.
“What’re you getting?” Cas asks quietly, eyes wide as he looks around the shop.
“Hopefully a tank top and a smaller flag. Maybe some pins…” he trails off as he steps into the store, heading for the section of the store with all the bisexual pride stuff.
He hears Cas’s footsteps behind him, so he pauses to glance at his roommate. “You can go look around if you want. Charlie’s probably gonna be looking for a while.”
“You’re bisexual?” Cas asks with a frown, which is definitely not a good sign.
“Yeah. That a problem?” His reply is a bit more acidic than he’d intended.
Cas’s eyes widen as he meets Dean’s gaze. “No! Not at all. I just… didn’t know. I’ve never seen you with anyone and when you mentioned Pride, I guess I’d assumed you were asexual or aromantic. My apologies.”
His entire body relaxes at Cas’s explanation and he waves him off. “Don’t worry about it, man. There’s…” Now or never, he thinks to himself. “There’s someone I’m interested in. Not sure if they’re interested back so I’m kinda… stuck for now.”
Cas hums his understanding, flipping through the racks of clothes. Dean joins him and, after a while, settles on a white tank top with the bi flag on it, as well as a flag and a pin that reads, “how dare you assume I’m heterosexual”. Cas chuckles at the pin when Dean shows it to him and Dean falls for him just a little more.
“Anything you wanna look for?” Dean prompts, draping the tank top and flag over his arm.
Cas shrugs, glancing around the store. “Not really. I kind of just want to… wander.” He glances at Dean, smiling softly. “If that’s alright?”
“Yeah, sure. Like I said, Charlie’s gonna be a while, so we should probably entertain ourselves anyway.”
Cas nods, slipping through the displays as he wanders the room. He mostly just looks, though he examines a few things closer. Mostly pins, but he picks up a few rainbow t-shirts, running his fingers over the flag before setting them back down. He hands Dean a ring he finds that has three hearts, each one colored as one of the bisexual pride colors. Dean smiles to himself, holding it in his other hand with the pin.
Dean nearly knocks Cas over when he suddenly stops in his tracks with a gasp. “Cas? You okay?”
Cas nods slowly, his gaze fixed on something to his left. Dean frowns, following his gaze to the pansexual flag nearby. “I didn’t think they’d have one.” Cas murmurs, brushing his fingers over the fabric reverently.
“You’re pan?”
Cas nods, the corners of his mouth ticking up in a smile.
“They have a whole section of stuff for pansexual pride.” Cas stares at him, dumbstruck. Dean chuckles, grabbing Cas’s hand and pulling him to the back of the store, right into the middle of the pansexual section.
Cas’s eyes grow wide as he looks around, gasping. “This is… so much…” he whispers, fingers brushing over the t-shirts nearby, other hand still clasped in Dean’s. He’s so distracted by Cas’s face right now that he can’t even be excited that he’s basically holding hand with the guy he’s in love with. Cas is so enraptured with the different designs and accessories and he’s so genuinely excited. Cas squeezes Dean’s hand, grinning over at him. “This is amazing.”
Dean grins back. “You should get something, ‘specially if you’re going to Pride with us. A t-shirt or something?”
“Oh, I’m buying more than just one thing. I’ve never seen this much pansexual pride in one place.” He drops Dean’s hand—disappointing, but not unexpected—and flips through the t-shirts on the rack. He giggles softly as he pulls one from the rack, turning it around to show Dean. It’s a yellow panda with blue circles around its eyes and pink ears, surrounded by, “I’m Pan Duh”.
Dean snorts, actually snorts, and he kind of wants to die. Cas must find if funny though; his nose scrunches up and he grins at Dean, nodding to himself as he drapes the shirt over his arm. He also grabs a few pins and a pansexual flag, his grin growing with each addition.
Charlie finds them a few minutes later and all four of them pay for their things. Charlie and Jo are dropped off a little while later at their apartment and Dean and Cas are finally alone.
“So you mentioned you were interested in someone?” Cas asks, fiddling with his shirt.
Dean glances at him quickly, clearing his throat. “Yeah. Why?”
Cas shrugs. “I’m just surprised you don’t go for it. You always seem so confidant.”
Dean chuckles. “Yeah, I usually am. Until feelings get involved, anyway.”
Cas hums and the car falls silent for a minute until he pipes up, voice quiet, “Do I know them?”
“You could say that.” Dean replies with a chuckle, tightening his grip on the wheel momentarily.
Cas frowns but doesn’t continue the conversation.
So in all, he knows Cas is pan, but he’s no closer to figuring out if Cas is interested in him or not.
The next moment he has is that night. They’ve put their purchases away and had dinner. Now they’re both curled up on opposite ends of the couch, arguing over what they’re going to watch. Eventually, they agree on the latest episode of Dr. Sexy, settling in to watch.
About halfway through, Dean looks over to find Cas sound asleep, curled up against the arm of the couch. He looks so peaceful and relaxed and Dean doesn’t have the heart to wake him, so he tucks a blanket around him and lets him sleep while he finishes the episode.
Cas is still sound asleep when Dean turns off the TV, so he shifts over and shakes him gently. “Cas? Hey, wake up.” He hears a sleepy grumble, laughing softly when Cas only burrows farther under the blanket. “C’mon, man, wouldn’t you rather be in your own bed?”
“I’d rather be in your bed.” Cas mutters, but Dean hears it clear as day.
He sucks in a breath, eyes widening. “You… what?”
Cas pulls the blanket tighter around him and Dean can see the exact moment he realizes what he said; he freezes, glancing up at Dean in horror. “Oh my god, I didn’t—I’m so sorry, Dean, I didn’t mean to say that, it just—”
“Did you mean it?” Dean cuts him off, hopeful it wasn’t just some thing the tired part of Cas’s brain made up.
Cas glances up at him, nodding after a second. “I’m sorry, Dean, I didn’t—”
“Whoa, hey, you don’t have to apologize.” He holds out a hand to Cas, smiling reassuringly. “C’mon, stand up.” Cas looks up at him, obviously concerned, but he takes Dean’s hand and stands anyway. Dean grins, resting a hand on Cas’s cheek. “Can I kiss you?”
Cas’s eyes widen but instead of answering, he cups Dean’s face and crushes their lips together. It’s a bit too much teeth and it takes them a minute to get it right but when they do, it’s perfect. He hates to admit it—it’s super cliché—but it’s honestly the best first kiss he’s ever had.
They pull away after a moment and he hears Cas chuckles quietly. “That is… not how I expected today to go.”
Dean hums his agreement, thumb brushing idly over Cas’s cheek. “Me either. I’m glad this is how it went, though.”
Cas closes his eyes for a moment, leaning into the touch with a happy sigh. It’s adorable, frankly, and Dean would be more than content to stay just like this for the rest of… well, eternity. Cas yawns after a moment, smiling up at Dean as he opens his eyes. “I think I’ll head to bed. We should… talk about this in the morning?”
Dean nods, smiling softly as he presses a kiss to Cas’s cheek. “Definitely. G’night.”
Cas waves at him as he turns, heading down the hallway to his room.
The one time that really gets him is during Pride. He knew with it being Cas’s first time there that it’d be special, but he hadn’t prepared himself for this. Cas is bright-eyed and grinning, utterly enraptured by everything going on around him. His hand is clasped in Dean’s—something he’s still not really used to but is so okay with—and every few minutes, he’ll turn to Dean and point something out with a quiet laugh, like he can’t really believe it.
It’s the cutest thing Dean’s ever seen.
This time, there’s nothing stopping him from tugging Cas close and planting a kiss on him, so he does.

I walked into our living room apartment to see my mother holding a cup of coffee and walking to my father’s studdy. Before she could walk in I walked in front of her with a smile.
“Oh, I can take that in to Daddy. I wanna ask him something, anyway.” I said trying to take the cup from her.
“Your father and I have business to discuss.Besides you know the rules about his study.”
“Mom, those were the old rules.” I said confused and my sister had joined us, walking out of her room.
“Which still apply, Y/N.” She answered with a smile. Before I could argue anymore my father walked out of his study.
“I thought I heard my two palomitas out here chirping. Is that my cafá con leche?” He asked taking the cup from mother.
“Thank you, corazón.” He smiled.
“Daddy, Tonight's the season premiere of The Matchlerette. I would love to have my friends over.” Veronica said with a smile.
“Who exactly are these friends?” Dad asked.
“Inner circle only.” I answered for her.
“Hm.”
“You can watch with us, they’re dying to meet you!” Veronica added.
“They're welcome to come over, mija.” Our dad smiled.
“Thank you, daddy.” Veronica gave him a hug and a kiss.
“Come on Y/N, let’s get ready for school.” Veronica said and pulled me to our rooms.
I got dressed in a salmon colored skinny jeans, a gray tank top with black polka dots and a black bow, some cute black boots, black flower earrings, a few bracelets and a watch, and to finish it off I grabbed my sunglasses and one of my black bags. For makeup I did a gray eyeshadow with a winged liner and some fake lashes. For lips I did a pink that matched my pants kind of well.

Once Veronica and I got to school we met Kevin, Betty, and Jughead in the student lounge. Kevin had something important to tell us so we all got to school early.
“It was full-on Carrie. Midge covered in Moose's blood, screaming like a banshee. It was insane.” Kevin said, talking about what happened to Moose and Midge last night.
“Kev, what were you even doing there? You could've been shot, too.” Archie asked walking in.
“I was just night-jogging, you know, as one does, and suddenly, I hear gunshots.”
“Can we agree there's a killer on the loose?” Archie asked sitting down.
“With terrible aim.” Jughead said trying to lighten the mood a little.
“Jughead, he murdered Ms. Grundy.”
“We don't know these three crimes are related.” Betty pointed out.
“Guys, can we focus on what matters here? Midge and Moose are alive. Archie's dad survived.” I said smiling.
“The Matchlerette starts tonight and you're all coming over to watch.” My sister added.
“There's a shooter terrorizing the town. You really want us to watch a gross dating show?”Jughead asked looking at her like she was crazy.
“What Veronica means is that we want you all to come meet our dad, officially.” I explained with a smile.
“Well, we'll be there, guys.” Betty smiled.
“Hey, Andrews, we're going to the hospital to see Moose. You coming?” Reggie asked Archie.
“Yeah, for sure. I'll see you tonight, Ronnie.” He said leaving.
“I better go. Was supposed to meet my peer mentor at Southside High half an hour ago.” Jughead said and Betty stopped him. Veronica and I went to our classes.
After school Veronica and I raced home to get everything ready for tonight. Everyone arrived on time and the five of us sat down. Betty, Jughead and I were sitting on the couch while Veronica and Archie were sitting on the two chairs.
“Why don't you sit down next to me, loverboy?” I said making room for him.
“Archie?” I asked when he didn’t more or say anything.
“I'm sorry. This thing with Moose It's like nobody cares. Dad keeps saying, "Leave it to Sheriff Keller. I'm like, "Yeah, he did a great job of catching Jason's murderer." Oh. Wait, I'm sorry, that was us.” He said loudly.
“Inside voices please.” Veronica whispered.
“No, don't stop him. Archie going Travis Bickle is my favorite Archie yet.” Jughead said with his mouth full of popcorn.
“Doesn't it feel like he's targeting us? I mean, specifically? I don't want anyone else getting hurt.” Archie said worriedly.
“You know, back in our salad days, When we had a getaway on the Cape, all of us got together and hired private security to keep out the riffraff, as an added layer of protection.” Veronica said and I rolled my eyes.
“I loved that house.” Our dad smiled walking into the room and all of us stood up.
“Dad.” I said slightly shocked.
“We're on our way to dinner at the club.” Mom said.
“I wanted to meet your friends first.” He said looking at us with a smile.
“Great. Thank you. This is Betty Cooper.” I said introducing her.
“Hi. Nice to meet you.” Betty said in her usual sweet voice.
“And Jughead Jones.”
“Hi, you know my dad.” Jug said shaking his hand.
“I do. He's a good man. He values family. I hope his return comes sooner rather than later.” Daddy said with a smile.
“So do we.” Jughead smiled back.
“And, Daddy, this is-”
“Archie Andrews. The boy who's captured my daughter's heart.” Dad said cutting me off.
“Daddy.” I said slightly annoyed.
“Uh, it's nice to meet you, sir.” Archie said with a smile.
“Ah, please. Call me Hiram.” He said and the two shook hands.
“I couldn't help but overhear your discussion and I, um I understand your frustration with Sheriff Keller. As for someone who's had his own share of run-ins with the law I can say that the police aren't always the solution. Sometimes we need to take matters into our own hands. We need to protect ourselves.” He said.
“We’re gonna lose our table.” Mom reminded him.
“Oh, yes, of course. Hey, it was nice to meet all of you.” He said and they started walking out.
“Oh, and Archie?” My dad said causing us to turn towards him.
“Yes?” Archie asked.
“Why don't you come over for dinner this week? I look forward to seeing what you come up with to save Riverdale.” Daddy said and I smiled at him a bit, maybe he is trying…
We spent the night watching the Matchlerette and once it was over everyone went home, since it was a school night. Once everyone left Veronica and I got ready for bed and went to sleep.
The next morning I was getting ready for school I had on gold sequined shirt, white jeans, purple heels, with matching purple earrings and a bracelet. For makeup I did a black and gold eye with winged liner, and a metallic golden lipstick for a little something extra.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was backing my beige bag for school when my mother knocked on the door.
“About Archie coming over for dinner I wouldn't push that if I were you.” She said.
“I'm not. Dad invited him.” I said confused.
“Daddy wants to please his little girl. And you want your father's approval. Mija you want everything to change overnight. You want him to be friends with your friends. And that will happen. Just no need to rush it. No need to be so thirsty, Y/N.” She said and walked out the room.
After that weird encounter I met Veronica downstairs and we made our way to school. School was normal for once and after school I went to Pop’s to meet Archie. I walked in and spotted him in a booth looking out the window.
“I have incredible news, Archiekins. You are invited to dinner with my parents. Our place.” I said sitting across from him.
“Oh, Y/N/N, this week's crazy-”
“I don't care.” I said cutting him off.
“Archie, this is nonnegotiable. That drive-by he did was a kind gesture, but this, this is like I don't wanna call it a test, though it kind of is.”
“What am I being tested for?” Archie asked confused.
“Not you, my father.” I sighed.
“Can he just be a dad for one night? No agenda other than getting to know someone who's important to me.” I said grabbing his hand.
“In that case, I'll be there for you.” He said with a smile.
“I don't have time to teach you Spanish, but I've selected phrases for you to memorize and practice. And can we not talk about that private army you're starting? Okay? Thanks.” Archie looked down and smiled. Once that was done with Archi and I finished our date and it was perfect.
The next day Archie and the Bulldogs were walking around town handing out flyers about the ‘Red Circle’. One of them handed me one and Midge and I looked at each other and sighed. I can’t believe Archie is starting an army of students! Has he lost his mind!?
It was the weekend and I had asked Veronica to help me polish the silverware. She happily agreed since it was a special dinner tomorrow. We were working in the dining room when our mother walked out from the kitchen.
“You're playing with fire, I want you to know.” She whispered to me and walked over to get a drink.
“I'm polishing cutlery, Mom. In advance of my parents getting to know my boyfriend over dinner.” I said finishing the knife I was holding.
“That may be your agenda, but it's not necessarily your father's.”
“He's making an effort, I'm making an effort. Veronica is making an effort. The only person not making an effort is you.” I pointed out.
“I'm trying to warn you Y/N.”
“About what, Mom? What do you think Daddy's gonna do? Please, God, enough of these veiled threats. Tell me you think he's dangerous. Say it to my face or forever hold your peace because we're never having this conversation again.” I said standing up.
“Y/N!” Veronica said touching my arm to get me to sit down.
“Can't do it, can you?” I asked when she didn’t say anything and sat down.
“Just remember, you're the one who welcomed him back.” I glared at her and she walked off.
Tonight was the dinner and Veronica was helping me get dressed. I decided to pull out my favorite red and black dress, black heels, and two beautiful bracelets. For makeup I did some black eyeshadow with a silver highlight in the corner of my eye. I also pulled out one of my favorite red lipsticks to complete the look.

Archie had come over and we were currently all sat down eating dinner. It was awkward to say the least.
“The posole was really great, Mrs. Lodge.” Archie said with a smiled.
“Glad you liked it.” My mother smiled black while holding a glass of wine.
“So, Y/N tells me you rescued the Muggs girl.” Dad said.
“Yeah, but the creeper got away. We need to be faster with our response time.” Archie said.
“Yeah, because you'd like to be ahead of the threat. I understand.” Dad said looking at mom. She rolled her eyes and drank some more of her wine.
“So, tell me, have you ever had rum?” He asked Archie.
“Rum? What, like the alcohol?” Archie asked confused and I looked at him weirdly and nodded.
“Yeah, there's a signature Lodge family label. It's I have some in my study. Would you like to try it?” Daddy asked and Archie looked at me.
“Of course he would.” I smiled grabbing his hand. The three of us got up but my dad stopped me.
“Oh, palomita, would you mind if Archie and I had a little chat, man-to-man?” He asked.
“Oh, um sure daddy…” I said sitting back down. My mother smirked at me like she just won something.
“Poor little princess. The king will always keep her at arm's length. She'll never be allowed in his private throne room.” My mother said drunkenly and finished her glass of wine. I glared at her and shook my head. I got up and paced outside my dad’s study and I could hear a bit of what they were saying but it was muffled by the thick doors so I couldn’t be sure. Once they were done Dad said Archie and I can go to my room for a bit and so we did. Archie wouldn’t tell me what they talked about so I just gave up, for now. The two of us talked about how we thought the dinner went and honestly I think it went well, my dad was actually being a dad for once. Archie soon left since it was getting late and I went to bed.
The next morning Veronica and my mother went out to go shopping so it was just me and my father home. He sat at the table reading the paper and I sat next to him eating some breakfast. He pulled his paper down a bit to glance at me and I was looking at him with a smile.
“Oh, I know that smile.”
“I've been thinking-”
“Oh boy…” He said placing his paper down.
“I want a more active role in Lodge Industries. I am a shareholder, am I not?”
“That's an honorary title, Y/N.”
“Well, let’s make it a real one.” He looked at me with a raised brow.
“I mean Veronica is involved and I wanna get my hands dirty. I wanna be in the room where it happens. Unless there's a reason why I shouldn't be involved. Get a peek behind the curtain?”
“No. None at all. Of course you should be involved. You're a Lodge, after all.” He said with a smile and the two of us cheered to our new agreement. I would no longer let my father pull something over on me.

"Kisses ment to distract the other person from whatever they were intently doing" for Jeaneil ^^ (if you're taking prompts that is)
Ahhh, so, I figured I’d give another glimpse at the Plus Ca Change, Plus C'est La Même Chosefic with this mini follow-up? I still plan to do a real follow-up to it, but here’s a brief glimpse of Nathaniel and Jean until then….
Uhm… think it’s warning free for the most part? Other than the fact that these boys are Ravens (ex-Ravens).

“A gold-plated stand for our Exy racquets,” Nathaniel calledout from where he was sitting on the bed, busy responding to a text from Declanabout what time they thought they’d be moving into the dorms tomorrow.
“A gold- dammit, Nat, don’t distract me!” Jean looked upfrom the list he was checking on his laptop to glare, his thick brows drawntogether in a way that Nathaniel always adored. “I’m busy here.”
“You’ve gone over that list at least a dozen times,”Nathaniel argued as he set his phone aside on the king-sized bed they shared intheir hotel suite. “Declan and Geoff have already bought everything on it andare ready to bring it to the Fox Tower tomorrow, as soon as Wymack gives us ourroom assignment.”
Now Jean appeared more uncertain than surly. “I want to makesure that we haven’t forgotten anything.” He typed for a few seconds then shookhis head. “We’ve always had everything supplied to us, this is all so new.”
“And all we have to do now is call someone and they’ll bringit to us.” Nathaniel didn’t see how things were that different, except thatthey were no longer trapped in the Nest and being abused by Riko and Tetsuji.“And it won’t be all black and red for once.”
That wrung a faint smile from his partner, who glanced awayfrom the laptop screen at him instead. “Yet some things never change.”
Nathaniel tugged at the black hooded sweatshirt he waswearing – Jean’s – over on old pair of shorts. “Well, someone won’t let me get a PSU sweatshirt, will he?”
“No orange for you, flammèche.” Jean shuddered in horror.“Just… no.”
“All right then, let’s make a deal – you leave that listalone and I won’t wear any PSU apparel, all right?” Nathaniel offered. WhenJean was quiet in return, he sighed. “Whatis it, shadow of my shadow? What’s wrong? And don’t tell me that you’re worriedabout us having enough flannels or something.”
Jean sighed as he once more looked up from the laptop’sscreen, his expression worried. “I…tomorrow we meet the rest of the Foxes, and unlike at the Nest, we don’t haveany rank here.” His left hand rose to brush against his tattoo for amoment. “We’re rookies once again, sowhere does that leave us?”
What protection did it give them, he meant. “Not quite rookies, especially you,”Nathaniel pointed out. “We’re stillperfect court, still ex-Ravens, and better than anyone else on this team, otherthan Kevin.” He scoffed as he rubbed at the barely healed scar on his leftcheek. “And we’ve survived his petmonster, so something tells me that dealing with the rest of the Foxes will beeasy.” Oh yes, if they could ‘handle’ Andrew Minyard and even work out somesort of deal with what was supposed to be the most dangerous of the Foxes, thenthe rest of the team shouldn’t be a problem.
If they were? Then Nathaniel would handle them – they didn’thave any other option, really. Not when Ichirou had sent them to PSU with a specifictask to complete by a specific date. Tetsuji’s little ‘castle’ was about tofall down and Riko’s reign of terror end, and the Foxes either helped Nathanielbring that about (and win some damn games in the process) or got the hell outof his way.
He much preferred the first option, but he wasn’t going tolet a bunch of rejects ruin things for him and Jean. Ichirou was a much, muchbetter ‘lord’ than any of the other Moriyamas… but he still was a Moriyama and failure wasn’t an option.
As if picking up on that thought, Jean shook his head. “We have enough to worry about, dealing withthese unstable people, we might as well be certain of what we can. So I want tobe sure that we have enough for our room.”
Nathaniel sighed as he got up from the bed and went over tothe desk where his partner was sitting. When Jean looked up at him, he managedto slip into the small space between the desk and the chair so he couldstraddle his lover’s lap. “And I say it’s good enough.” Someone worried toomuch, dammit.
“But Nat, it’s-“ Jean’s eyes went wide when Nathaniel cuthim off with a kiss, and for a moment Nathaniel thought he might get pushedaway in favor of the damn list. Then Jean’s arms wrapped around his waist andhe was kissed back, tentatively at the start (Jean always kissed him like thatat first, as if uncertain he really could, as if it was all right) and thenwith increasing ardor as the chair was shoved back.
Nathaniel wound his legs around his partner’s hips and heldon tightly as Jean stood up, breaking off the kiss to laugh as he was carriedto the bed. His fingers threaded through Jean’s thick black hair while histhroat was nibbled on, a pleased smile curving his lips as Jean laid him downwith care (always with care).
“You are going totorment the hell out of those poor Foxes,” Jean declared while he pulledoff his own shirt before crawling on top of Nathaniel.
“Of course,”Nathaniel agreed as he shifted about to help Jean remove his clothes as well, more than willing to serve as a distraction for the foreseeable future. “Now, enough about them, my shadow,” he said as his fingers once more slid intohis lover’s hair and urged Jean forward. “Howabout we practice some more the benefit of finally having a room with a workinglock, hmm?”
Jean groaned even as he shimmied out of his sweatpants. “You certainly do torment me, my flame,” he declared beforehe settled once more between Nathaniel’s legs. Yet he smiled, the expression arare one of joy and affection.
Nathaniel tugged his lover down for another kiss, unwillingto allow anything to harm or upset this precious person again.
******
Yeah, definitely have to pick up when Nathaniel and Jean meet the rest of the Foxes… :)
Okay, so NS3 will be posted on Sunday.

The Brodinsons: Kings of Asgard
Extracted from here for reasons related to practicality.
Quotation 1
“I start in the film as Thor’s younger brother and I think in the manner of all younger brothers I have a greater sense of freedom. I’m not the oldest therefore the parental expectations aren’t as heavy, so it’s like a lot of younger children in sibling groups; I think Loki has a bit more freedom. He’s not going to be King. He knows that. And so he’s freer to… he has less responsibility on his shoulders so he’s freer to have a bit more fun. And I think like everybody at Marvel has been very clear and brilliant about coming into this that Loki just has… they’re both enormously gifted. Thor and Loki are a two-man team and they’re both going to run Asgard when Odin steps down, and Thor has an ability and a physicality and a presence—a physical presence that is… he’s the type of man you follow. You just do. In the same way they used to talk about all the leaders and the captains and the generals that came out of both World Wars that those captains and generals weren’t necessarily elected just in battles. There were certain men who were followed. You know, leaders were born and Thor is that guy. And Loki’s gifts are different in that he is sharper, he’s cleverer, he’s more interested in tactics and strategy. He’s capable of thinking ahead and he enjoys chaos. So he enjoys reacting to chaos and that affects how given that he’s the God of mischief. Mischief is essentially chaos. He likes stoking the fire of chaos and seeing what happens as a result.”
                 — Tom Hiddleston on Loki, 2011 interview by Collider during the production of the first Thor film.
Quotation 2
“Thor is the favoured son, and destined to be heir to the throne of Odin and that kind of rubs Loki the wrong way, but at the same time they’ve had a great experience growing up together. Odin has been a tough but good and fair father to both of them.”
                  — Kevin Feige, quoted in the Art of Thor official book.
Quotation 3
ODIN           Do you think he's ready?                         FRIGGA           He thinks he is. He has his          father's confidence.                         ODIN           He'll need his father's wisdom.                         FRIGGA           And his humility?           Odin reacts.          FRIGGA (CONT'D)           Thor won't be alone. Loki will be          at his side to give him counsel.          Have faith in your sons.
                — Deleted scene from Thor, to be read in the original script.
“Thor and Loki are a two-man team and they’re both going to run Asgard when Odin steps down”
“Thor won’t be alone. Loki will be at his side to give him counsel.”
I don’t think it has been pointed out enough that Odin and Frigga had always intended to have both of their sons rule Asgard, and that Thor and Loki themselves have long been a rather efficient team. Here’s to hoping they’ll get the occasion to be one again. (Before one stabs the other and runs away with the silverware, of course.)
star-sought-light:
I agree with everything you say. I was also reminded of the scene where Frigga *gives* Loki the throne; clearly, she thought him capable of being king, even when Loki initially refused, and it does feel like a further piece of evidence that both were loved and both considered equally capable of rule. Although why Thor over Loki, when they admit Thor wasn't ready?
The last question was just a criticism of them, but I haven't enough characters to express that. It seemed to make sense with the original script that Odin meant for Loki to rule Jotunheim, but - without that scene - makes little sense, as they're picking the seeming less capable child to rule over the capable one.
Quotation 4
“It's been in the works for many years, right, since we finished Dark World. What has Loki been doing on that throne in guise of Odin? And we always liked the idea that he was doing a good job! He was doing a good, but shortsighted job. The trains were running on time, but he wasn't paying attention to anything else going on in the universe or in the realms.”
                — Kevin Feige, interviewed by CinemaBlend shortly before the release of Thor: Ragnarök.
We have often discussed between us the fact that Loki is much more like Odin than many, including himself, would like to think; something that Taika Waititi had Hela comment upon in Ragnarök, in fact: ‘You sound like him’. No matter their differences, Loki was very much Odin’s son. He inherited the sharp wit and calculating mind of both his adoptive parents, in reality, whereas Thor had his father’s hubris but his mother’s heart. On the other hand, Thor is clever, much cleverer than everyone usually give him credit for, while Loki is somewhat less of the strategical mastermind than too many people have decided he had to be... After all, Loki makes up a lot of it as he goes along, and he lacks self-perception to a ludicrous extent—he lacks wisdom, probably because he lacks the humility and empathy necessary for change, and wisdom requires the capacity for change, like Thor, on the contrary, demonstrated in learning from his mistakes.
I’m not entirely sure this was the entire reason for Odin and Frigga choosing Thor over Loki for occupying the throne of Asgard, though; I would say the main reason for this was, quite plainly, the reality of Loki’s birth first and foremost. Not that it make him unworthy, but it seems highly likely that his true parentage would have eventually caused some turmoil within the realm... This is not the only thing, either.
Thor isn’t only an Asgardian citizen nor even an Asgardian prince; he is of the line of Odin, the line of Borr and of Búri (the former appearing in the prologue of The Dark World, the latter cited in behind-the-scenes material as the king who had the oldest part of Asgard built) before them. He descends from the founders of Asgard, you see, and, like his father Odin and his older sister Hela, Thor derives most of his power from the very people of Asgard. There is much to speculate here, but it would be hard not to state right away that the kings of Asgard are almost one with their people, and that in order for Asgard to prosper, a king of the line of Búri must occupy the throne. Which is not to say that Loki or someone else couldn’t be king, only that he would probably lack in power and oversight somewhat.
Remember that Thor, prior to Ragnarök, had visions of Asgard’s impending doom, whereas Loki saw nothing—and when warned about them under Odin’s guise he dismissed them as ‘just a silly dream... signs of an overactive imagination’. The Odinforce was never cited in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but it is very tempting indeed to assume that Thor, has inherited more from his mighty father than a throne.
FRIGGA (CONT'D)           Thor won't be alone. Loki will be          at his side to give him counsel.          Have faith in your sons.                         ODIN           Yes, but Thor's still a boy. He          could be a great King...           Odin stops, notices HIS HAND SHAKING. It seems to be out of          synch temporally with the rest of the world, leaving a trail          as it moves. He stares at it determinedly, concentrating,          trying to stop the strange event through the force of his          sheer will.          Finally, the occurrence subsides, his hand normal once more.          A worried Frigga covers his hand with her own.          ODIN (CONT'D)                         (QUIETLY)           ...if we only had more time.                         FRIGGA           For once, our son needs something          we cannot provide.                         ODIN           I can fight it a little longer...                         FRIGGA           No. You've put it off too long! I          worry for you.           He touches her cheek.                          ODIN           I've destroyed demons and monsters,          devastated whole worlds, laid waste          to mighty kingdoms, and still you          worry for me?                         FRIGGA           Always.
LOKI           It all makes sense now. Why you          favored Thor all these years.                         ODIN           Listen...                         LOKI           Because no matter how much you          claim to "love" me, you could never          have a Frost Giant sitting on the          Throne of Asgard!           Odin's body begins to shake, he lifts his hand. It starts to          move out of synch temporarily, leaving a trail, the effect of          the Odinsleep approaching. Loki doesn't notice as Odin tries          to fight it off.                         ODIN           Listen to me!           Loki strides away towards the exit.          ODIN (CONT'D)           Loki!           Odin starts towards him, when the enormous mental, emotional,          and physical strain of recent events finally takes its toll.          The effect of the Odinsleep consumes him. His entire body          now moves out of sync with the rest of the world, leaving          trails behind him as he staggers backwards.          Odin falls back against a wall, his face contorting in a          scream. He collapses to the stone floor.          Loki, shocked, hurries to him. He takes Odin in his arms,          calls out.                         LOKI           Guards!
Inattentive people have made fun of Odin’s ‘convenient Odinsleep’ for a long time, but the truth is, Odin had been putting off this indispensable regeneration of his physical faculties, which he underwent once a year, for too long prior to the events of Thor, precisely because he sensed grave developments in the near future and wanted to be able to control whatever Thor wouldn’t know how. Of course, we know that Odin had been doing all he could to push back the inexorable advent of Ragnarök... and it seems more and more likely that he might have cheated death for quite a long time, in all likelihood using the Odinsleep, in the knowledge that as long as he kept alive, Hela’s reign of terror would be kept at bay. At the very least, he would be affording time for his sons to grow up, and especially for Thor to grow strong enough to, maybe, with hope, go against his sister one day.
61 INT. ODIN'S CHAMBERS - DAY 61          Frigga sits at her husband's bedside, holding his hand. Odin          lies there—looking pale and lifeless, his body and the          space around it warped from the effect of the Odinsleep. The          walls of the chamber have moved close around him, protecting          him like a dark crypt, sealing off any daylight.          Loki sits at Odin's side, across from Frigga. She speaks          softly to him.                         FRIGGA           I asked him to be honest with you          from the beginning. There should          be no secrets in a family.                         LOKI           So why did he lie?                         FRIGGA           He kept the truth from you so that          you would never feel different.          You are in every way our son, Loki,          and we your family. You must know          that.           Loki takes this in, stares at Odin.          FRIGGA (CONT'D)                         (RE: ODIN)           You can speak to him. He can see          and hear us, even now.                         LOKI           How long will it last?                         FRIGGA           I don't know. This time is          different. We were unprepared.                         LOKI           I never get used to seeing him like          this. The most powerful being in          the Nine Realms lying helpless          until his body is restored.                         FRIGGA           But he's put it off for so long          now, I fear...
Once again, I’m also left wondering whether Loki wasn’t actually the son of the same mother who gave birth to Hela—we could call her Fárbauti, since there was one in the comics and since, like in the comics, the mythological mother of Loki, Laufey, was turned into a male in Marvel lore; or Angrboða, the mother of Hel in the myths. Note that if this were true, it would give Odin an acutely realistic reason for hiding the truth of his birth from Loki, in spite of his wife’s preference for telling him from the beginning. If Asgard’s bloodier past must be obfuscated, and Hela’s very existence forgotten by all, any mention of Loki’s dangerous lineage would have required similar secrecy.
It may also be, in the same vein, that Odin was well aware of Loki’s instability, be it linked to his true parentage or not, and wished him away from absolute power. Indeed, Thor himself wasn’t that much readier for kingship, but he was a hot head more than anything, whereas Loki’s ‘mischief’ evidently always had crueller undertones. Where power is concerned, he thoroughly needed his mother’s talents for appeasement. Probably, a lot like Odin did.
(Stripped of everything, Thor is a good man. Loki is not.)
