MY SPRING 2021 ANIME WATCHLIST🌼🌈✨

Spring is officially starting and what a marvelous season we have ahead. Full of great anime continuations and some news that I’m really looking forward to. Since I post practically every review (only Horimiya left) here I present you my Spring 2021 watchlist:

1. Boku no Hero Academia 5th Season (27/03). Can y’all hear me screaming?😭 Finally, our heroes are back and I couldn’t be more excited. Many friends told me this season would be really amazing and I can’t wait! Bones studio is still in charge of the series so we will continue having a great animation. Genres: Action, Comedy, Super Power, School, Shounen.

2. Koi to Yobu ni wa Kimochi Warui (29/03). A strange encounter spurs the meeting of Amakusa Ryou, a high spec businessman, and his high school sister's best friend, Arima Ichika. From there, he falls madly in love and tries to approach her, while she responds simply disgusted, insulting him without hesitation. Can this be a nice shoujo anime? We’ll see. Studio Nomad is doing the work, I haven’t seen their previous work but the trailer animation looks nice. Genres: Comedy, Romance.

3. Jouran: The Princess of Snow and Blood (31/03). An original and first series by Bakken Records. Set in alternate history Japan in 1931 the anime will follow the activities of "Nue," an organization of shogunate executioners who enforce the government. The dissident organization Kuchinawa strives to overthrow the administration, while the Nue of the Tokugawa regime, which was entrusted with its extermination, is in conflict. Sawa Yukimura, whose family was killed when she was young, continues to search for Janome, the executioner of the Nue. I don’t usually enjoy historical anime but hopefully, this would be good. Genres: Action, Historical, Supernatural.

4. Shaman King - 2021 (1/04). Can believe this actually got a remake, which I’m really really excited for. In a brief, Shamans are extraordinary individuals with the ability to communicate with ghosts, spirits, and gods. To life circumstances You befriends Manta due to his ability to see spirits, they set out to accomplish You's goal of becoming the next Shaman King. Studio Bridge is in charge, the ones behind my all-time favorite “Fairy Tail” ^^. Genres: Action, Adventure, Supernatural, Comedy, Shounen.

5. Mashiro no Oto (3/04). Lowkey I’m expecting this to be as good as “Kono Oto Tomare. Shin-Ei Animation is the studio behind this and they’ve worked in the Doraemon and Shin-chan movies. The story follows Sawamura Setsu, since their grandfather's death, he dropped out of high school, moved to Tokyo, and has been drifting, not knowing what to do besides playing his Shamisen. That's when his successful and rich mother, Umeko, storms into his life and tries to shape Setsu up. She enrolls him back into high school, but little does Setsu know that he is about to rediscover his passion for Shamisen. Genres: Music, Drama, School.

6. Hige wo Soru. Soshite Joshikousei wo Hirou (5/04). Project no.9 the studio of Jaku-chara is bringing a more dramatic story this season. Office worker Yoshida has been crushing on his coworker, Airi Gotou, for five years. Despite finally scoring a date with her, his confession is promptly rejected. Drunk and disappointed, he stumbles home, only to find a high school girl sitting on the side of the road. The girl, needing a place to stay the night, attempts to seduce Yoshida. Despite rejecting her advances, he nevertheless invites her into his apartment. Genres: Drama, Romance

7. Fruits Basket: The Final (6/04). If I started talking about this anime and how excited I am I will never stop talking. I’m ready to cry, get flustered, angry, and be happy. I’m sad but at the same time happy that the story is ending I’m dying to see the zodiac members at least feeling peaceful. Genres: Slice of Life, Drama, Romance, Shoujo, Comedy, Supernatural.

8. Shadows House (11/04). CloverWorks is doing this one and it would probably be beautifully animated. The story is about faceless shadow nobles living in a vast mansion, attended by living dolls who spend much of their time cleaning up the soot endlessly emitted by their mysterious masters. It's not horror but I like the creepy vibe. Hope is good. Genres: Slice of Life, Supernatural, Seinen.

9. Edens Zero (11/04). My Fairy Tail heart is singing of joy. J.C.Staff is animating the series so we know it would be good. Ever since the manga came out I started immediately. It’s really good so I hope people enjoy it without being too critical about the resembles of Fairy Tail. Here is a brief: At Granbell Kingdom, an abandoned amusement park, Shiki has lived his entire life among machines. But one day, Rebecca and her cat companion Happy appear at the park's front gates. Little do these newcomers know that this is the first human contact Granbell has had in a hundred years! As Shiki stumbles his way into making new friends, his former neighbors stir at an opportunity for a robo-rebellion… And when his old homeland becomes too dangerous, Shiki must join Rebecca and Happy on their spaceship and escape into the boundless cosmos. Genres: Action, Sci-Fi, Adventure, Shounen

10. Tokyo Revengers (11/04). I really don’t know what to expect from this since LIDENFILMS has done some pretty awful or uninteresting works, but the trailer looked very cool. Our mc is Takemichi Hanagaki, his life is at an all-time low. Just when he thought it couldn't get worse, he finds out that Hinata Tachibana, his ex-girlfriend, was murdered by the Tokyo Manji Gang: a group of vicious criminals that has been disturbing society's peace for quite some time. Wondering where it all went wrong, Takemichi suddenly finds himself traveling through time, ending up 12 years in the past—when he was still in a relationship with Hinata. Realizing he has a chance to save her, Takemichi resolves to infiltrate the Tokyo Manji Gang and climb the ranks in order to rewrite the future and save Hinata from her tragic fate. Genres: Action, Drama, School, Shounen.

11. Fumetsu no Anata e (12/04). I think this is the most expected new anime for this season, and one of the most visually beautiful this season. Follows the story of It, a mysterious immortal being, is sent to the Earth with no emotions nor identity. However, It is able to take the shape of those around that have a strong impetus. Acquiring the form of a boy, It sets off on a never-ending journey, in search of new experiences, places, and people. Genres: Adventure, Supernatural, Drama, Shounen.

12. Marimashita! Iruka-kun 2nd Season (17/04). Yes yes yess. So we finally are going to find out what happened to Iruma-chi at the end of the first season. I’m really excited to see everyone again ^^ if you haven’t seen season 1 I invite you to do it and you can also read my review under this anime hashtag ^^ Genres: Comedy, Demons, Supernatural, School, Fantasy.

This season looks very promising!

Thinking journal for season 12 Prime Empire 😎😎😎 (1/2)

So, I'm keeping this during all of season 12 to put down my thoughts as they appear. It's mostly for not ranting every single time a new episode comes out so please don't mind me too much 😅 I'm following the English release so please no spoilers 😙

I'm gonna split it in two, since apparently the season has 16 episodes. So this is the first part, enjoy my rambling 💜💜

It's the 30th of March and here we go!

IN GENERAL

I'm so, SO HAPPY, we have a theme for this season. For my experience apparently silly themes (tech ninja, ghosts, pirates) had brought very surprising results so I'm SO DOWN FOR THIS 😍😍

It seems that they fixed the mood, there is a specific mystery and a specific mission to follow. I like it too

THE NEW WHIP IS DOPE AS ALWAYS

I'm really glad there are plenty of references to past episodes, comebacks are my jam

The only thing that still kinda bothers me is the length of the episodes. It's not all bad, I just think the 20 minutes format was better. One thing is splitting 20 in 10 minutes, another is putting together 11 minutes of important stuff. Doesn't bother me too much, I just wish there was more time for my favorite show 🤷‍♀️

WOULD YOU LIKE TO ENTER PRIME EMPIRE?

Is it normal for me to feel really old after they made the "what is a VCR?" joke? Like, I'm a uni student so still pretty young, but I lived through the transition from that to the DVD so... eh, I laughed anyway👵

Jay is smart, I really believe he is. Yet I saw him putting a possibly corrupted motherboard into a legendary game randomly found into a villain's lair, and I was like "Of course he did that, I love you you dumb*ss" raising my glass of juice towards him 😎

Okay, I'm down for this Lloyd. I'm down for a season with Lloyd being creeped out just because, being silly, just a ninja helping his friends and- (remembers there's a Harumi avatar in the sets) I'M NOT READY

The ending was actually nicely creepy. Cool nods in approval

DYER ISLAND

THAT INTRO THOUGH, THAT WAS EPIC! Love the techno sounds, love the clear gaming connection, I rate it 10/HECK YEAH LONG LIVE THE FOLD

I was scared about how the shorts were supposed to play along with the season, but it looks fine so far with the mechanic and later for Scott. Good 👍

Ah, Fist to Face, that game came all over from the nostalgic season 1. That's what I'm talking about 😎

So they just associated that Unagami is probably Dyer's avatar like that? Like sure, I thought about it, but it looks a little rushed. Mm, I wonder if there's something more behind it?

LEVEL 13

Cyrus Borg is back and he TALKS!!! Finally, he gets some action! Go tech dad!

I'm so happy he referenced the Digiverse, I would have been very disappointed if he hadn't. Time flies Borg...

Not gonna lie, I thought the next to follow up Jay's spot as best in videigames was going to be Kai or Lloyd. It's not disappointing though, since pretty much all the ninja have been seen playing, and to be honest I like the implication that Cole and Jay probably played a lot together. As bruiseshipping or as BrOTP, I still love them together no matter what 💙🖤💙🖤

Ooooohhhhh, that's why Zane and Pixal are left behind. It makes sense, sure, but I don't understand the implication of the plan: they saw Dyer entering Prime Empire, so why looking for him in real life? Mm, maybe they will investigate about his life and what happened... PIXANE ON THE CASE 😍

Already saw Prime Empire's world in the shorts, of course it looks DOPE, still very happy to finally being there!

SUPERSTAR ROCKIN' JAY

I don't know why, but Kai questioning the double jump made me laugh. Also poor him, he just got his powers back from last season and they're already gone again 😂

And of course. Them. Wow. It must be the most amazing and CURSED thing I've ever seen so far, the League of Jay 🤯 I'm so happy they exist and they freaking use past seasons' suits!!! Awesome!!! Never thought I was going to see Jay's old plain haircut again... yeah, he got better with the curly one, but I'm feeling nostalgic 🤷‍♀️

Their nick are histerical omg, Jaybird, Dee-Jay, Jaywalkin, I'm loving this way more than I should 😂 Also they freaking screamed "JAY-NJA GOO!!!" and I don't know what to do with that, it's too great for me to comprehend 👏👏

And then, THIS happened:

Your Honor, I would like to confirm this as THE MOST SECRET DREAM I'VE EVER HAD FOR THIS SHOW FINALLY COMING TRUE!!! A NINJA FROM NINJAGO DOING THE NARUTO RUN!!! 🤯🤯🤯 Done, I'm done, conclude the season, this is more than enough for me 😍

First Kai gets hit and fall from a building, DYING, then Lloyd gets desperate for his brother (MY BROTP 💚❤💚❤), then Kai respawns and Lloyd looks so relieved and Kai is all panting while slowly realizing it's a game and MY HEART CAN'T HANDLE THIS MUCH OKAY???

As a very passionate Kai fangirl I always expect the cringy moment, it really is inevitable for my favorite hothead. I love that idiot so much it's unbelievable, even if it's an absolute and costant suffering 😅 Holy Garmadon it was painful seeing his VERY slow realization that in this game you only have four lives

... SO HE HAS ONE NOW!?! NINJAGO CREW YOU ALREADY KILLED ZANE, NYA AND LLOYD ONCE AT THE END OF A SEASON, DON'T YOU DARE PLAY WITH ME AGAIN 😱😱😱

Okay, I did not expect to hear about Mr. Cuddly Wamp ever again since Hands of Time and BOY if I'm happy it was actually a password, I love this show 😂

SCOTT FINALLY!!! YESS!!! 😍😍😍

Okay, for as long as it is not debunked, I will hold onto the Scott is Jay's brother/twin theory. I'm sorry but: his jacket has dragons AND lightnings on it, they have very similar skin in avatar mode, he said he was waiting for him in the short, he could very well have his same hair under cap and hoodie and he's a mechanic too. I know, I know, they could have the same skin because Scott helped him for the avatar, and there might be shadier reason behind the 'I was waiting for you' thing, and there are tons of good mechanics in Ninjago... STILL HOW COOL WOULD THAT BE??? 😍

SCOTT HAS ONE LIFE POINT TOO??? NO! NOOO!!! NOOOOOOO!!! Don't you dare appear and steal my heart only to die at the end of the season, come on!! 😭

So for now it seems like he just wants to survive. Can we actually confirm he's an avatar and not an NPC? I mean he could be, but I don't see the point of an NPC self aware of his life points. Idk, maybe I'm overthinking this 🤷‍♀️

Lol, Kai is the only one weirded out by the Jay-con all around him. Probably because he hasn't heard from his fans since Skybound 😅 (I'M STILL HERE MY FLAME BABE, ILY ❤❤❤)

And in all of his glory, freaking Superstar Rockin' Jay!!! 😎😎 Okay, I loved the design since the first time I saw it, but it looks possibly even better in the show 😍😍😍 And Jay looks absolutely adorable in it, and he's got a guitar, and he was waiting for his friends, and he hugs them (I'm weak for LEGO hugs for some reason) and he is so happy and AAAHHH 💙💙💙💙💙

I'm very curious about how Scott will play into the situation, clearly he will provide some kind of insight about Prime Empire. I can't wait to know more about him!! 😍

I AM OKINO

I did not expect this when I saw this Okino guy in the trailer... and I'm so happy I was surprised, I love him 👌

And he's voiced by Alessandro Juliani?? HECK YEAH!!! With all the hype about the DnD 13th season, and consequentially the knight theme, I really miss Nexo Knights and having Aaron's VA around makes me happy... any hope to have Giles Panton as well? I miss Clay the most 💙💙

This is what I'm talking about, the game theme needs this stuff! I was already happy to see life points, double jumps and respawns, but this? The NPC guide? Awesome 👍 It's nice to see the take on the matter, the guide seeing so many players getting killed, first because they did not listen, then because they were actually just unlucky. The touchy matter I always expect watching Ninjago 👏👏

At least I THINK he's an NPC? For now I don't really see a way of knowing, and it doesn't look like it matters. He didn't show life points so maybe? Does this mean he can't die? I have questions people

Which brings me to the cube thingies. That's what happens to the dead players? I mean, I would understand if they just become pixels, but there's also the drone that takes the datas every time. Idk, feels like there's more behind it. And honestly? It looks like great material for angst, like one of the ninja dies but then they discover they just need to get where Unagami stores all of the players! I hope it's something like this!

They designs of the players are really cool, I already saw them in the other episodes, but seeing them this close just confirmed it. Between this and Jay's awesome avatar, I see lots of great cosplay ideas coming 😍 I wonder when will Kai and Lloyd use their avatars, and why would they since I'm guessing Jay did for disguise and to distinguish himself from his fans

PLEASE TELL ME WE'LL SEE SCOTT SOON, I ALREADY MISS HIM!!! 💙💙💙 I have too many theories about that tech dude, I'm so excited about who he might turn out to be!

I was a little skeptical about the new ninja suits, but seeing them in the show convinced me, very cool! Especially on Nya 💕💕💕

THE GLITCH

Alright, Okino is indeed an NPC. Cool the fact that at first he could not understand the fact that he was in a game, but when reality changed he was forced to. Welcome into the crew! 😙

I'm kinda worried about it though, either they will shut down the game and he will stay inside or he will sacrifice for them. He's a very loyal samurai, I can see that happening and I'm SCARED

I WAS SWEATING BULLETS AT THE AMBUSH!!! I 100% saw it coming, we all freaking saw it coming, even the ninja did but where like 'we can walk and die or we can risk and die so might as well'. But still, my babies DYING and respawning so fast was not pretty 😱😱

Nya got the scariest death until now in my opinion, holy Garmadon Dyer DOES have a twisted mind...

Seeing Kai so scared of being in a new situation and with one HP reminds me A LOT of the Digiverse, and that's actually a nice touch. Give him a cellphone, hothead is a social media expert, but put him in a game and... huuhhh... 😅

Have I mentioned I love the ninja's new emoji masks??

BECAUSE I DO!!! 😂😂😂😂

So Unagami knows about them trying to stop him and he sent the rat people because of it. Considering how little we know about this guy, I'm wondering what we are about to discover

Alright, going to the next challenge, very curious about this adventure. So... beware of the rats, ninja? Still not sure what I think about the rats 😅

THE CLIFFS OF HYSTERIA

I would like to say Okino is the edgiest character of the show I've ever seen... but I've seen MORRO. But still poor guy, he got a case of the Matrix

Oooohhhh, the major question in videogames: better go grinding for more money to get the better stuff but while losing lots of time, or get the least expensive just to go on with the story but definitely risking to lose lives?

Ah there we go, so the energy cubes mean something! Also reference to the Sushimi guy of the set (gosh that name, I can't 😂). So do people actually die in Prime Empire or they are just kidnapped kinda? Can the ninja just bring back? ANGST POTENTIAL

So apparently Unagami is trying to build some kind of device using the energy cubes of the dead players (sounds kinda creepy like this 😱) to create some kind of portal? To Ninjago? I don't understand, if Unagami is Milton Dyer then why this? Just to bring his army and conquer? I mean I guess, sounds a little simple though. Then again, if it turns out it's not Dyer, it could be Unagami wanting to be real and get into his creator's world? Mm...

I like the message, having the ability to choose your own path. Very fitting for a game themed season, I hope it gets explored even more!

THE MAZE OF THE RED DRAGON

Duuuude, Jay being good at mazes comes all the way from Possession, the Tomb of the First Spinjitzu Master! 😍 ... or maybe I just rewatch this show too much... could be both really 😅

Unagami is NASTY!

Confirmed the thing about going into the real world, what scares me is how much powers Unagami seems to actually possess. Like, can he do the block thingy whenever he wants? Just straight up pause and do whatever? Wow...

Jay being extra 😎

I mean, of course he is, he's got better statics! 😂 I like how he seems so focused and in charge, I still hope we see more of him... and Scott... WHERE IS SCOTT???

I love dragons, this metal one is cute 😍

So now we have two ronin: a samurai looking for a path on his own in a digital world... and a shady guy named Ronin 😛 Total respect for Okino, he really showed the values he believes in. No matter he was programmed his way, I hope he finds what he's looking for. Better come back for the final battle!

One Keytana down, two more to go. I know one is the price of the race, while the last one... I don't really know.

Kesh- thank you for your your responses I don’t have much to add, but I loved all of it ! Also yes a red sundress would look gorgeous on you:).

Adding onto some thoughts:

- yes yes yes to the new chains. That photo of Quinner shirtless is on my mind constantly and this will be the look in Greece lol, and now we know that he does have a chain that he wears. It’s a silver chain for me, wbu?.

- beanie stealing will ofc happen. Like softest look ever esp with Jamie.

Now adding onto more thoughts hehe:

-yes to all of these soft moments. Like freckle tracing is just so cuteeeee. and ofc play w his hair cuz it is amazing. I ofc am honorary photo taker of Brigids cute moments with Jamie so lots of photos will be provided.

-hmmmm what if I want too..... like Jamie is down to makeout anywhere lol.

- hehe I’m still laughing, Jamie paying cozzy to sit with you. Hehe cozzy and devon are just vv chill and no action will be happening with them. Just a very quiet flight for those two. Kesh and Kirby are just not available to deal with us yet lol.

- hehe yes dyl better buy you food after the flight bc he’s heavyyyyyy. like I said before Jamie just gives ofc the biggest makeout vibes so ofc you gotta do it on the plane. hehe you gotta make sure that dyl, me, Quinner and Ryan are all occupied so we don’t see that. If dyl does see he’d be like no no no I can’t handle this right now. ‘Ummm Brigid maybe we shouldn’t bother bowen’ so Jamie keeps you calm. Which I love bc it’s so cute how you two help each other.

-hehe why do I see Peyton accidentally hitting dyl in the head while trying to give you a snack and we all quietly laugh bc Dylan’s still passed out and that it was a pretty hard throw.

-hehe yes. Like how is that possible to drink that much coffee and still sleep. Like he passes out 5 mins after take off. Okkk can I just say that I love rope bracelets so Quinner wearing one is just necessary. awww Brigid this made me melt, him pretending to sleep bc he’s enjoying it sm 🥺. hehe yes Quinner saved you with this one brigid bc I fidget a lottttt. ‘Lexi I swear if you kick my chair one more time’ ‘sorry brigid I’ll do something’ and I’m like what does that mean?.

I think we all want to see me slap Ryan awake. And he’s wake up so startled hehe. Yessss clear hair, pretty hair = happy life lol.

First night in Greece:

- I see you brigid, going after but we both know you two are loudddddd hehe. Ok so I see Ryan starting the tag and him tagging Braden and then Braden tags me and we all just start running around. All of us are looking for you and Jamie but we notice that we can’t find you until we notice Jamie’s shirt on the floor. So we all just run away ‘here we go again guys’ ‘hey Peyton I dare you to walk in’ absolutely not does it look like I wanna see that’ ‘guys let’s just give them so privacy’.

- aw a slumber party would just be so fun. ‘I’m sorry what’s the point of hydrating your face lexi?’ ‘ what does that even mean. Wait I’m sorry do you not use moisturizer Ryan?’ all of us just watching movies and bonding. Also pillow fightttttt! It would become very intense.

- ok we must have a girls day in Greece. and yes we have moneyyyyyyy. ‘Wait has anybody seen Brigid?’ ‘Hmm no I haven’t’ and they all just start looking for us and we come back and are like seriously you guys?.

-everybody looks so hot in water so moments will be happening. ya Ryan try us.

Next day:

- Brigid I’m with you here I’m like constantly hungry lol. So we’d just eat a mountain of food. Ooo yess we need some energy after our eventful nights😏.

- ok cliff diving is so fun. hehe Jamie looking terrified but you just grab him and jump. the hype up would involve a lot of slapping imao. haha ok if you’re not marco the entire time. I think I’ll go w dyl bc I wanna bond with him lol. The boys need your help bc swimming is hard. And then Jamie can piggy back you out of the water. And cuddle with you on the beach.

- awww I love this, holding hands while scuba diving. hehe yes I wow you all with my not forgotten guitar skills. ‘Please dyl can I try’ ‘no I’m scared you’re gonna drop my guitar in the water’ ‘I promise I won’t’. Lol this was random. actually a song i know how to play on guitar is Our last summer from mamma mia so we can all sing that :). I love cuddling our bbs on the boat.

- awww I love Jamie finding your wallpaper and him asking that in the most soft voice ever 🥺. And ofc some kisses will be exchanged. vv cute moment all together.

- we’d have the most chaotic moments at night while we are tipsy lol. Like some would try to race up the stairs and fall. Some dare each other to jump over stuff.

-so after dinner we just encounter a live band and see some people dancing and it’s pretty out with lights everywhere. ‘Hey bb wanna dance with me?’ And ofc you agree so you two take off to dance. Aww you tucking you me face into his chest🥺 and he just tightens his grip on your waist. Kesh and Kirby are #couplegoals they are the best dancers out there. hehe ofc Quinner is slow, but then he realizes that he wants to dance like that as well so he asks me to dance and we have a cute dance as well.

Next dayyy:

Hehe yes me and Ryan falling I feel like would be vv funny. It’s just all very sudden. imao you’re a hockey player it’s in your job description.

The chirps that would be happening ‘ hey brigid seems like you had an eventful night and he looks at your small hickey’ ‘ I saw a girl come out of your room this morning Cole. What are you doing trying to go through every girl in Mykonos by the time we leave’

‘I think by the time we leave there won’t be any more girls left.’ -Lexi.

Haha I would (no offence) totally abandon you to go play tennis with a pro. aww thank you for taking the photos. Lol everybody would just be confused on where I went for the afternoon.

Next day: I honestly think that for our final days of Greece we should just all be on the beach lol bc that is mostly what you can do there. Like all of us just bonding, playing volleyball, riding on jet skis, tanning, getting tipsy lol.

hehe yeah cliff diving is so fun, i have to pull jamie in with me before he backs out bc he’s scared lol. lmaoooo you and ryan and quinner have the best hype up before you jump. and then once everyone’s in we’re playing marco polo and i’m just destroying bc im good at swimming lol. haha then we have to send you and dyl to find the way back up while i help the boys swim lol. awww yes i love jamie piggybacking me out of the water and then cuddling with me on the beach🥰

awwww yes hand holding while scuba diving is the cutest. and then while we’re on the boat you can resuscitate your guitar skills for us ‘pleaseeee dyl i want to try’ ‘no you’re gonna drop it in’ ‘nooo i promise i won’t, just let me try please?’ so then he does and you wow us with your skills and we all sing along. and we’re just cuddling our bbs on the boat🥺

yesssss omg jamie just going to do something on my phone and then he sees i change my wallpaper and in the softest voice ‘i’m your wallpaper?’🥺🥰 and i’m like ‘yeah is that ok?’ and he’s just like ‘ofc’ and then soft kisses

lmaoooo yes we’re the most chaotic people ever when we’re tipsy. lol we’re all racing each other and daring each other to do stuff

awwww yes we see a live band so jamie asks me to dance ‘hey bb, come dance with me?’ in the softest voice, and ofc i say yes and i tuck my face in his chest while we dance🥺 and he just pulls me closer. and then kirby and kesh are somehow just amazing at dancing and perfectly in sync bc they’re like the perfect couple sooo. and quinner is just a bit slow on the uptake, but then he eventually asks you to dance and then you guys just have a cute slow dance and you’re playing with the little baby hairs at the back of his head if you know what i’m talking about

next dayyyyyyy:

lmaooo you and ryan falling down the stairs would be so funny, like one minute you’re walking and the next you’re just tumbling down the stairs. ‘you’re a hockey player it’s in your job description’ love that lol

lol the chirps that are happening ‘hey brigid and jamie looks like you had an eventful night’ ‘shut uppp cole, i saw another girl coming out of your room this morning? what, are you trying to get through every girl in mykonos before we leave?’ lexi: ‘i think by the time we leave there aren’t gonna be any girls left’

rest of the days:

we’re on the beach alllll the time, doing whatever, like volleyball, jet skis, tanning, just swimming, etc. and ofc getting tipsy

hehe our travel day is soooo chaotic again, but we somehow get our flight on time to go to italy

overall, i love all of this, it was amazing

A better life (Chapter 1, Avengers x reader)

Hey, so I’ve been working on something longer than my other fics. This is an Avengers x reader thing, and here the reader is stuck in a bad situation with their mother. Long story short, reader’s in a bad situation, accidentally befriends the Avengers, it’s fun hanging out with them, they start noticing signs that something’s wrong. Haven’t finished writing it yet, there’s gonna be a few chapters, but I will finish it, so don’t worry about this being an unfinished fic that is untouched for 5 years. Also, I have decided to completely ignore the Events of Infinity War, Endgame, and Far From Home. Those aren’t real movies. I don’t know what you’re talking about. I am the god in this story. You can’t stop me. Edit: chapter 9 is available on the blog now

“I just asked if I could -“

“Shut up, or else..”

You took a step backwards, away from your mother, just as she raised her hand. Half a second later, your arm was up in front of your face, blocking your mother’s arm from reaching you, and her features were full of anger and shock.

“How dare you do this to me?! I feed you!! I clothe you!!! You are so fucking disrespectful, I hate you!!!”

Your mother stared at you for a few moments that seemed like centuries, and then rapidly walked away from you, back into the living room to your siblings. You immediately went back to your room, stepping quietly on the wooden floor and silently closing the door behind you. You don’t even bother turning the light on, and you immediately slide down the wall, breathing hard from the adrenaline as a few tears escape your eyes. *I am so tired of this.*

You hear angry yelling from the living room, and then your name is being shouted. You quickly wipe your tears and then find the glass of water on your table to put some on your eyes. Unless you want to be screamed at more, you had to make sure your mother wouldn’t find out you cried. You walked out of the room as quietly as you cane in and appeared in the doorway to the living room.

“How dare you do this?!!! What the fuck is wrong with you?!” She was pointing at a broken vase, and now you were just.. very confused. “Well, don’t just stand there!!! Answer me, you ungrateful bitch!!!”

“I didn’t do this, I -“

“SHUT UP!!! I get that you’re being a bitch, but breaking things?! Have you been fucking crying? You are so fucking stupid, I am NOTHING but good to you!!! Go to your fucking room. Now. I don’t want to see you.” Her voice suddenly went cold, and you kept your eyes trained on the floor as you almost ran back to your room.

The next day, when she came home and you had already made food for yourself, she started crying while making soup. You couldn’t care less, except for the brief flash of guilt you felt when she began crying. That was something she often did: first, hurt you, and then act like you were the one in the wrong. You’ve never heard her apologize to you about anything.

For the next week, your mother didn’t speak a word to you. You refused to be the one who breaks the silence first, because obviously, she didn’t need you, but you sure as hell didn’t need her help. A few days ago, you finally got yourself a summer job that kept you occupied from 8am to 3pm, and you were quite happy about it. When you were done, you hung out at a nearby café, messaging friends or meeting up with some, but most days, like today, you sat there alone.

You were doing research on Ophiocordyceps Unilateralis, the zombie fungus, when you realized you were so concentrated that you hadn’t noticed a man was standing beside you. Taking your headphones off, you looked up to see the face of the man: it was Tony Stark. What was he doing at this small café? Why was he standing there? You had many questions, but the biggest one was: *why in the absolute fuck is he staring at me?*

“Hey, sorry, is this seat taken?”, he asked, pointing to the empty one at your table.

Too shaken up to say anything, you shook your head. He smiled at you and sat down. You looked around and saw that most of the seats weren’t taken.

“So you’re probably wondering why I sat here, of all places, right? I just saw what you’re reading and it seemed nice”, he says, still smiling, coffee in hand. “So what’s a kid like you doing researching a zombie fungus? Isn’t school out? It’s summer.”

“Oh, yeah.. I, uh, I actually really like biology, though I’ve never loved physics or chemistry. School’s out, I’m just.. I’m kinda doing this for fun”, you awkwardly manage to say, avoiding eye contact.

“Interesting. Actually, I might know someone who would probably talk to you about this for a while. He was going on about how insane insects are all morning. He likes talking about the multiverse theory, amongst other things. Wanna meet him? Pretty sure he’d be your age.”

“I, uh, sure, if I wouldn’t be bothering him.. I mean, he’s probably busy, though, and -“

“Kid, he’ll be thrilled if he gets another person to talk to about this, especially the zombie ants, and the spider one. Trust me. It’s okay. He’s at the Stark tower. Come on, take your stuff. I promise I’m not trying to be creepy. You just seem like someone he’d be friends with. He has, like, two friends. I’m worried about him.”

“It.. really kinda seems like you’re one step away from adopting him”, you say as you gather up your laptop and put everything in your backpack.

Tony looked a you with a “Maybe so” grin and you walked out together. He kept trying to keep the conversation going, but quickly understood that you’re trying really hard not to visibly panic and stopped asking questions. He started talking about a new thing he was currently working on.

The Stark tower was already really close, and he held the door open for you when you got there. You felt uneasy, letting someone do that for you, but you smiled and mumbled a weak “thanks” while looking at the floor. When you came in, you looked back to make sure that he was still walking with you, that it wasn’t a trick to let you get lost, that it wasn’t something you’ll be ridiculed for later.

“So, kid, you ever been here before? Anyway, what’s your name?”

“I, uh, I haven’t, actually.. My name’s Y/N”, you reply, already getting used to Tony calling you “kid”. You were a teenager, after all, and for some reason, you didn’t mind it that much when he was the one who said it. You both walked into the lift, and he was already looking at the buttons.

“Hm, cool name. Right, fifteenth floor.. here we go. Hold on tight, Y/N.”

You tightly gripped the handle in the lift, and before you knew it, you were already on the right floor. Kind of dizzy, you went out of the lift.

“You alright there, Y/N?”, Tony asked with concern in his voice.

You nodded, and then looked up onto the floor with amazement. There were advanced models of computers, headphones, and any kind of electronic device you could find. Well, maybe not everything, but there was a lot, anyway.

“Holy shit.” The words got out of your mouth before you could think about it, and you were immediately scared. “I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to-“

“Hey, it’s okay. I swear a lot. Just don’t do it around Steve. Rogers. Steve Rogers. Captain America. He’s going to go “language” at ya. It’s hilarious, but I’m pretty sure you don’t want a lecture from an old grandpa who looks like a thirty year old”, Tony said, chuckling.

“Hey! I heard that, you know”, a familiar voice yelled out through the room and you flinched without meaning to. You searched the room, only to see actual Captain America just walking up to you and Tony. *Holy fuck. What the fuck. What the absolute fuck.*

“Steeeeeeeeeve, you can’t say I’m wrong though”, Tony said.

“Shut the fuck up.”

“Oh my god Steve you said fuck”, whispered Tony. “Peter! Peter, Steve said fuck! Peter I know you’re in here, come here, kid! I found a person who’s interested in the, what’s it called, the, you know, zombie fungus, the one you were going on about last week.”

Half a second later, a teenage guy practically ran up to you with a wide smile on his face. “Mister Captain, ah no, Mister America, wait, Mister Rogers, language! You remembered? Thank you, mister Stark! You didn’t have to do that though, I don’t know how I can -“

“Peter, just.. here, here you go, here’s the person”, Stark said, “I just want you to have more friends, okay? I was at the usual café and they were just researching the fungus. So I just brought them here.”

“Thank you!” He looked at Tony, whose smile warmed as he said: “Sure, kid.” Peter hugged him with a good amount of force and then put his fist in the air and whispered “Yess”.

You smiled at this sight.

“So, Peter, this is Y/N, and Y/N, well, this is Peter Parker”, Tony formally introduced you to each other.

Peter nodded at you excitedly, and you returned a smile, despite how tired you were already feeling.

“So, I heard mister Stark saw you researching the zombie fungus, ophio-“

“-cordyceps unilateralis, yeah! It’s fascinating! Sorry for interrupting, I didn’t mean to, I just -“

Peter’s eyes lit up as he continued your sentence. “Get really excited about things? Yeah, me too! It’s insane! I mean, that nature does all these things, and there’s different kinds of this virus that affects different insects!”

“Yeah! And when it’s the one involving the ants, it makes the ant go bite the underside of a leaf, and apparently it’s still unknown how it convinces the ant to do that! And it’s so awesome that it’s called the “death grip”, I mean, obviously it’s because the ant has no choice but to wait for death, but it’s a really cool expression!”

“I like you, you’re pretty cool, Y/N”, Peter finally said.

“Oh, uh, thank you..? You’re cool too”, you reply, feeling guilty, like you’ve fooled him into thinking you’re smart. You’ve always felt uneasy when someone complimented you.

“Nerds”, Tony whispered happily.

Steve shot him a look, and Tony immediately said that he needed to go do something. They both went into the lift and disappeared, leaving you with Peter. You checked your watch. 4:17pm. You’d need to be home by 6 if you didn’t want to get into any more trouble than usual.

“There’s a good coffee machine here, if you want”, Peter awkwardly said. You addressed him an awkward smile and shrugged. “Alright, uh, there’s, there’s video games here. Do you play?” You nodded and he immediately gestured for you to follow him as he walked towards a big tv surrounded with games.

He pointed to one of those lying on a small table beside the couch in front of the television. “This one’s one of my favourites, actually. You ever played it?”

“Nope. But I’m definitely willing to try. Is there a multiplayer option?”, you said, a bit more confident in yourself.

“Hell yeah! Shall we?”, he asked, and you took a controller for the game in response.

An hour and a half passed by as you and Peter played the video game, and you were having a lot of fun. You were actually smiling more often than you had in the past few months. At least, this time, this was a real smile.

You checked your watch, and it was now 5:49pm. *Shit*, you thought, “Hey, I’m really enjoying this, but I have to go”, you said, trying your best to hide the worry in your voice as you detached the controller from your wrist. You immediately took your backpack and turned back to Peter. “I could come back here tomorrow though, after work again. If you want me to. I, uh, I enjoyed hanging out. With you.”

“Sure! Good luck, I’ll see you tomorrow, alright?”

“Yeah.. Thank you”, you smiled, and then immediately ran towards the life, pushing the button and waiting as panic rose up in you. In a few seconds, you were in the lift, and soon after, you were sprinting out of the Stark Tower in your apartment’s direction.

You were already at the door by 5:59, and you took your keys out to unlock the door. As soon as you came in, you saw your mother, sitting on the couch in the living room, arms crossed, face angry, and staring straight at you. She got up and walked menacingly towards you. “Where the fuck were you?!” You lowered your gaze and stayed silent. “I asked you a question! I expect an answer!” She grabbed your forearm hard and refused to let go.

Your mind quickly searched for an easy lie to keep up, and came up with: “I was doing a bit of overtime because one of my coworkers had to leave early.”

Your mother let your arm go, scoffed, and walked away after standing there calling you names for a few minutes, inevitably now back to completely ignoring you. That was a relief, no matter how much it hurt.

You quietly went to your room and took out your phone and earphones, connecting them by Bluetooth and starting to play music. After a few minutes, you took the headphones off for a moment, just to make sure it wasn’t easy to hear the music for someone not currently wearing the headphones, because you knew your mother would be pissed at that.

A few hours later, after writing for a while and then reading almost a hundred pages of a book, you fell asleep. It didn’t even bother you that you forgot to have dinner at this point. You were too tired to be able to socialize, or even be in the same room, with your mother. Anyway, you needed sleep. You hadn’t been able to sleep properly in a long time, always waking up several times each hour or getting nightmares that left you sweaty or crying when you woke up. Some things in the nightmares woke you up suddenly. You never told your mother about it because you knew she wouldn’t care or would blame it on you being disrespectful or on your electronic devices.

I was a pretty weird child actually. I ate play doh. But I was wild. I was always the tough kid. Not really. I talked tough though. And I never had attraction to girls growing up. I always knew I was gay. My mom was super supportive of that. She said she still loved me, which definitely helped make me to supportive and loving person I am. I don’t think I could have done anything without my mom.

My mom and I went out to ice cream and I saw a guy get chased by the cops. I might have been 4.

I just graduated high school.

Boku No hero Academia Light Novel No.2 Translations

Chapter 1: Commence the Study Groups!

(そろそろの勉強会) Part 1

It’s the last Sunday of June, the day was clear and you could feel the hot weather approaching, but the day of the outing would feel a lot better. However, for Midoriya Izuku, he doesn’t look out the window at such weather, he was glued to the desk in his bedroom for the sake of his end of term test. Even though they say Yuuei’s hero department is the most famed in the country, they were still student’s with the duty to study. Just like any other normal school kid, studying for the normal school tests.

However, there was one thing that wasn’t normal, whatever was in his left hand that is...

His right hand was trying to solve a maths problem, while his left hand grasped onto a hand grip. Izuku was trying to figure out a maths formula in his head while still exercising with his hand grip.

A year ago, this would have been impossible. Meeting the All Might he’s always looked up to changed his life, for the sake of the quirk he has inherited he had to work harder to train his weak body. While being tasked to clean up the beach, he also had to revise for Yuuei’s entrance exam! At first it was hard for him to use both hands simultaneously for separate things, but as he progressed he got used to it. Once he collapsed from overworking but now its become a story he can laugh about.

“For the purpose of saving people, you must have power” Izuku thought to himself, taking in a deep breath he looks up at his All Might poster stretched across the wall. Maybe I should take a break and rest my left hand. The All might in the poster, the overly muscular body, smiling broadly.

desire, peace , fighting spirit, inspiration (t/n: this was really hard to translate for some reason, I had a hard time trying to figure words that wouldn’t make this seem weird)

All Might drew out Izuku’s motivation like a geyser, to become a hero he had always wanted he shouldn’t use up all his energy like this!

“Yoshh, let’s do this!” He turns over a page in his textbook.

The curriculum results were published and even though the class didn’t rank high, it didn’t make him feel uneasy. However, this time they will definitely achieve passing marks, why? Because whoever fails will not be allowed to attend the lodge training camp!

“I wonder if Kaminari and the rest are ok...” Izuku thought as he was trying to get into another question, suddenly his head is now filled with worries. He knew the penalties for failing, he remembers his classmates despair when they found out. Oh yeah, didn’t Yaoyorozu-san say she was going to tutor them? If the smartest Yaoyorozu is tutoring them, they’ll probably be ok, but he just remembered how stiff and awkward she can be. Izuku returned back to the revision on his desk, wishing “please let everyone attend the lodge camp!”

At the same time, Jirou Kyouka who felt the same worries as Izuku, together with Kaminari Denki and the gang, they arrived at the front of Yaoyorozu’s house.

“Wh-?! Here?!”

“You gotta be kidding right? Isn’t this the embassy?!” Kaminari and Sero muttered to each other with a dumbfounded look, but the map on Ojiro’s phone said this was the place.

“eh, this is the address we have to meet at...”

“SUPER FANCY!!!!!!” Ashido bluntly stated, they make their way towards the entrance still shocked. The five of them stood before a towering gate, they tilt their head back at the height of the magnificent structure, the gate continued onto the fence which was also the same height, it felt like it would carry on forever, they must be in a place of enlightenment right?

Coming from the nearest station, the five were on their way to Yaoyorozu’s home, it felt like it took forever, when you first notice the continuous walls/fence, you ask yourself first, what kind of interest must you have to live in such a building? They walked towards their destination with an uneasy feeling, despite that uneasiness Kaminari and Sero were still having an enjoyable conversation.

Anyways, the overwhelming fence and gate was more than enough, what if at this mansion they make Kyouka and the gang spies for another country?!

“Should we just call it quits for the day?” turn back now, for countermeasures.

Even if they don’t turn them into spies, “Shouldn’t we still just call it quits?” they thought they could turn back, but while they were fussing about leaving, the big gate opened.

“Kyouka-sama, Ashido-sama, Kaminari-sama, Sero-sama, Mashiro-sama, I welcome you all.” In front of the opened gate stood a slightly small man wearing formal clothes, this guy had to be atleast in his early 70′s, mixed with a gentle face and grey hair. However, the pin (t/n i’m guessing a yapyorozu family crescent or smth) stretched across his back gave them a youthful impression.

“y-yesss...” It is custom to answer the elderly even if they don’t call for you!

The old man smiled and his wrinkles creased at their response.

“Thank you for coming over, I am the Yaoyorozu’s family butler, Uchimura. Young lady Momo has been waiting for your arrival, please, this way.”

“y-yess...”

The five trailed behind Uchimura uncomfortably.

“Butler?! They’re really here? Butler?!

“If there are butlers, wouldn’t they have maids too?!” Ashido whispered in a low voice trying to suppress her excitement with Kaminari agreeing back also.

“Hey! You guys!” Kyouka tried to hush them at that time-

“Yes, we do” The butler who heard their conversation a smiled and answered them, both Ashido and Kaminari felt bad for having the butler hear their disrespectful conversation. However to be become a butler of such a large house, I’m sure you won’t be fazed by small things.

A forest huh? They thought as they pass a beautifully maintained garden, suddenly Kyouka and the gang felt overwhelmed again. They couldn’t really speak in this mansion, if they could just return to the gate, the outside, return back to Japan! This place was overwhelming with fancy western vibes.

“Welcome.” They were greeted by maids as they walked pass and into the halls. Kyouka could hear the small steps of a woman walking towards the hall they were in.

“Welcome! Welcome! Thank you for always looking after our Momo, I am Momo’s mother.”

“a-hello...” The smiling face of the Yaoyorozu adult made the five feel a little at ease.

“To think, that Momo has brought home this much friends! It makes me really happy!, Oh!...... You!” Kyouka instinctively looked at her clothes, Yaoyorozu mother was staring at her clothes, leather bracelets with studs, customised sharp neckline (t/n basically describing w/e Kyouka was wearing, I couldn’t really translate the rest). These are the things she selected herself

(....isn’t this kinda... weird?) She thought.

Yaoyorozu mother’s eyebrow drew a slight curve, Kyouka suddenly becomes slightly uncomfortable however she tried to cover it with a smile.

“Anyways, Momo is currently preparing the lecture hall, I will guide you there immediately.”

“Oh by the way.... old man, I’m-” Yaoyorozu mother spoke to the butler.

“Please enter here” and like that the five of them proceeded towards the lecture hall.

The five walked into a room calmly, while looking around at the interior, there were a variety of flowers and plants on the wallpaper and marble flooring, in the corridors there were paintings and ornaments they’ve probably seen somewhere before.

“I’ve never been but isn’t this Versailles Palace?!”

“I know right! I’ve never been also though.”

“I agree”

Dumbfounded and murmuring random stuff Kaminari and the gang, Kyouka also all agreed with it being Versailles Palace.

“As expected, this is Yaomomo, the young mistress!” exclaimed Ashido, Yayorozu mother turned her head towards Ashido’s words, Kyouka notices and becomes flustered.

She opens her mouth, “um!, Yaomomo being Yaomomo it’s not what you think, um.. it’s just kinda like Momo-san’s nickname.”

“We call Momo by her nickname because Yaomomo... it sounds like Yamamomo (t/n: idk what this is) which is kinda cute, I just wanted us to get along.”

“...So does that make Yaomomo’s mama, Yaomama?!”

“Yaomama.. my.. nickname? That makes me happy! Please call me Yaomama!”

“ye--s!” Because of the simpleminded proposal of Yaomama by Ashido, we can now see Yaoyorozu mother smiling and laughing from the bottom of her heart.

What if there’s a chance she hates these kinda clothes? The other guys don’t think she’s strange.

“Why do you look so down?” Kaminari’s voice reached her, Kyouka raised her head, even though he was a lame, dopey face, he can be pretty sharp sometimes.

“...s-shutup, it’s nothing, I was just thinking about how pretty the corridor is.”

“ah! I know right, during summer or something, wouldn’t it be cool to just roll down here, it’ll be cool.”

“...you can’t just roll down here...”

“Ah! why?!” Kaminari pulls the dopey face again, Kyouka lets out a small sigh, anyways, she shouldn’t be conscious of her clothing because today they’ve come to study!

“You! because our class rank is so low, you have to do your best!

“ah, don’t say that, don’ say that!... it’s up to everyone too, everything is dependent on Yaoyorozu sensei!”

“Let’s put our trust into Yaoyorozu sensei!”

“That’s why I said it’s everyone!”

Finally after waiting for a while, the five of them finally got into the lecture hall which was exceptionally vast and wide, to be honest that was to be expected.

“Momo, I’ve brought your friends.!

“Sorry everyone! Welcome, I was trying to figure out which reference book to use” The Yaoyorozu that was waiting in the lecture room wore her glasses like an actual teacher, Kaminari’s cheeks and eyes lit up, sparkingly, today will mark the day of stories to be told!

“Anyways, this is it for me, later on I shall bring in tea, Momo, give your best in teaching”

“Yes mother.”

The door shut as Yaoyorozu mother left, Kyouka was incredibly relieved, standing right behind Yaoyorozu how could she feel such a thing?

Yaoyorozu inhaled through her nose and called out to everyone.

“Shall we begin?”

“Yup!”

“Yes please”

“I’m all in your hands Yaoyorozu sensei!”

“My chances of attending the lodge camp is riding on your shoulders!”

“Just put your trust in me!” Everyone’s trust and good expectations struck Yaoyorozu with a ton of emotions, she trembles and tell them.

“Leave it up to me! I will meet everyone’s expectation!” And so, the study group commenced!

(t/n the next part switches to bakushima studying within the library, I will try to post this asap bc I lit love these two very much and I’m sure their studying time together is going to be really gritty and funny! I will post updates/link them to this post)

Hello and welcome everyone to Comic Tea Party’s Week Long Book Club~! This week we’ll be focusing on Tamberlane by Caytlin Vilbrandt~! (https://www.tamberlanecomic.com/)

I remember reading the first chapter of Tamberlane once upon a time; so happy to have the opportunity to catch up again and see where it's gone!

I love just about every scene with Oakewood or Piper because they're both hilarious, but this one probably wins for me. He's such a good reverse psychology grandpa. https://www.tamberlanecomic.com/tamberlane/page-94/

All signs definitely point to the idea that Tamberlane is from Abroad, and I'm very curious about what's so scary about it. (My guess is that it's the world of Humans and animal-types get treated like animals there, which would explain their fears). From the conversation with Tagg and Danger, I suspect there's internal conflict in the land of Abroad (a plague? a war?), and Tamberlane was sent out baby-on-the-river-style by a well-meaning mom that wanted her to have a better life. Tamberlane seems to be good at making friends, though, so I think even if they confirm that she's from Abroad, the community will still accept and protect her. It very much feels like "it takes a village to raise a child" is a big central theme in this comic.

I definitely wanted to explore It Takes a Village in this story for sure

I didn't grow up in any tight-knit neighborhoods and our distant family was either extra distant or just not close emotionally, so I don't really know what that kind of mentality is like on a personal level. I wanted to see what I could figure out with a story like that. :3

As for MY answers......:3c 1. My favorite scene in the comic so far is probably still this one dang page because it came out exactly like I wanted it to in my head.

2. Obviously I can't comment much on this due to spoilers, but I do think when her origins come to light, people are gonna flip their dang lids. :3

I think you did a really good job of conveying a close, loving community! I can tell even between minor characters there's a lot of kindness and support in this setting and it's very refreshing to read!

I know for a little bit early on in the writing, I was planning a more contentious environment around Belfry ("what a hassle") but then was like, who wants to read that? Not me. Screw that, lol

QUESTION 4. Why do you think Follybrook is held in such low disregard? Who exactly are the creatures who occupy Follybrook? Also, what do you make of the rumors that Follybrook residents are disappearing because of something happening Abroad?

Hmmm, my favorite character is hard to choose. I love them all. But right now, I'd say probably Belfry. She tries so hard, and she didn't get a lot of spotlight in Chapter 3, and I really want to do more interaction with her and Tamberlane in Chapter 4.

As for Follybrook... :3

You are correct! Follybrook is on the "border" of Abroad. Sort of the last gasp of civilization so to speak.

Belfry is definitely a sweetie, but I feel like I need to see her not in crisis and/or mom mode to really connect with who she is and what she's about. I'm looking forward to more stuff with her in Chapter 4 and the scenes with her and Tamberlane are always very sweet, but I'd also like to see more of who she is as an individual when she's not being defined by her relationship to others.

Oakewood is probably my favorite too because he's clearly got this "big fish in a small pond" sort of wisdom and crusty outside/softie inside personality that's just perfect. I'm looking forward to how Milo's introduction might accent or challenge that.

1) my favorite scene is probably the one where tamberlane tries to help the crow guy and the crow guy goes all prejudiced. and then oakewood swoops in and calls her his grandaughter and yells at the guy. i like seeing tamberlane still trying to be helpful, but i also like oakewood way more clearly defining their relationship cause that opens up a whole new can of worms and kind of adds some vulnerability to him. also, has a great ending where milo comments on this and oakewood tells him to shut up XD https://www.tamberlanecomic.com/tamberlane/page-140/ 2) i think Abroad has been mentioned way too much for Tamberlane to not be from aborad. This is not to mention a) they don't know what a human is and b) they seem relatively unfamiliar whats going on in Aborad land. So i mean, all the clues only point to one place. unlike @Delphina , im actually assuming a darker route. cause tamberlane seems kind of neglected so im not sure this is a situation of well meaning mom. more like mom who might of tried and gave up. im also less optimistic about ppl saying its fine tamberlane is from abroad. cause there seems to be a lot of built up prejudice there and man, idk. prejudice is hard to just flip at the turn of a hat.

But yeah, if Follybrook is super-close to Abroad, then that sorta explains why the villagers treat them as social pariahs more than "those kids with their piercings and bad attitudes who are only let in once a year". The big drama in which Tess revealed that if Belfry went there for even a GOOD reason like trying to care for Tamberlane, she'd be full-out exiled was pretty shocking. Because yeah, if Abroad was simply dangerous and full of monsters, I can't imagine why it would be wrong or bad to come back; the big fear would be that you WOULDN'T come back. It seems like Abroad almost has a demonic/evil status in their minds and that they believe (rightly or wrongly) ANY contact would fundamentally change a person or attract something bad. I just struggle with the fact that if Abroad has so much mindshare in the fabric of their society, and if Tamberlane (and maybe all humans) are from there, absolutely nobody what a human looks like or have any stories that might help them identify Tamberlane as one? If there was something big and scary that I was to stay away from at all costs, I'd want to know what it looked like.

3) my favorite character is definitely oakewood bar none. i am a sucker for grumpy guys. but i especially like oakewood cause hes not the stereotypical grumpy guy. cause usually old grump guys are the most prejudiced. but in this case oakewood is actually the more forward thinking of the bunch. when everyone else was telling belfry to just abandon tamberlane hes just like "nah come live with me." and then tolerates her clumsiness and all that jazz. its great contrast that plays on expectations and i love it. 4) I assume the creature occupying follybrook are just regular creatures. but ya know, prejudice and all that. which i think the comic does a good job of showing through example how prejudice works. all the characters weve known seem to have this fear and sort of "they're different think" about them. so as a reader you cant help but think "oh they must be different" even tho that might not necessarily be the case. As for the rumors, I assume theyre based on truth. Maybe some secret slave ring or something. Though not sure what it has to do with what might be going on in abroad.

yeah you make a good point @Delphina . for a place they seem to hate so much its just flat out exile, they dont seem to know much about it. or at least anything that theyre willing to talk about yet. which its strange even follybook folks who are closer are just kind of vague about what they know of abroad

I can say, at least, that a lot of these topics will be broached in Chapter 4! :3 I can't wait to see reactions, haha

AS FOR BARTER! Oh god the barter system. I read some novels, did some research on different kinds of monetary systems. The world of Tamberlane is sort of a socialist utopia where folks' basic needs are taken care of and the town bands together to care for each other. You do work for the town, the town does work for you. So there's not a lot of, like, "how much does this cost" so much as "what of my work can I trade you"

Which! Let me just say, I have a HELL of a time trying to write and get that across

If I did it over, they'd just have a dang money system lmao

I dunno, it makes sense that a small town would work on a trade and favor system. I live in a tiny neighborhood in the country, and things tend to work like that

Oh yeah it totally makes sense! It's a good story decision! It's just difficult to get across narratively and causes more confusion than it helps when it comes to telling a story

Folks are just more used to parsing "I bet you five bucks" rather than "I bet you six months of library research"

It's late, but I just found out about this, so some thoughts until I get to be around when other people get to be around.

(1) My favorite page is definitely page 81. Because (a) the punch line is fantastic, (b) it lands right in the middle of a really emotional scene without undercutting the emotion even a bit, and (c) it is the most perfect summation of the Belfry Existential Dilemma, which is made up of two parts: (i) you can't mess this up and (ii) you are going to mess this up. Magnificent.

(2) Tamberlane is from the future. Obviously.

(3) With apologies to all of the well-realized and multi-faceted characters at play in this story, Sophie is and shall always be my one true love because SHE IS SO FLUFFY AND I LOVE HER. My opinion is extremely biased; Milo is my cameo (though not my Cameo cameo, that would be weird) and worth it just for the fluffbug sidekick.

5) okay. ill fully admit this is not the most epic illustration i could pick, but i really love this full body of tamberlane on this page https://www.tamberlanecomic.com/tamberlane/page-100/ tamberlane was always cute, but this is the one where my heart was stolen. like everything about her look is precious and makes you want to snuggle and protect her till the end of days. and i also like how contrasting it is to how she was before, so even without words you can tell time has passed and growth has occured and i really like. 6) Honestly, I think theyre imprisoned some how. But tbf i ironically want them to be alive and fine and showcase its the fact they were auto exiled thats the problem. And that they couldve been with belfry at any time but nope, rules and prejudice and such. but thats just my headcanon. I'm more interested in how itll affect how belfry raises tamberlane, and in a lot of senses i think its going to be a negative impact. like i feel belfry is kind of obsessed with making sure tamberlane feels loved and accepted. and while on the surface that sounds great, what happens if she has to punish tamberlane severely? is she going to panic tamberlane not feel loved and not do it? is it going to be lighter than it should? belfry already showed when she took in tamberlane that shes hyper conscious about her abandonment, and i dont think tamberlane alone is gonna make that hyperconsciousness about it go away. but on the otherhand, maybe by association others will confront belfry and make her talk about her feelings.

So! I had spent a couple of years trying to write a comic and was just writing myself in circles and running into walls. Finally I got really fed up with not having a project so I said, FINE, next story idea to come into my head, I'M JUST GONNA DO IT. And then during D&D the next week I was doodling creatures and I drew Belfry and Oakewood and was like Ooo I like them. Then I drew Tamberlane's previous form, a little dragon, and was like oh hey they're taking care of an unknown creature, that's fun! And then I was like, actually a little dragon is not weird enough to set her apart from a buncha animals ... Oh hey what about if she's human?? And within a month I had started the comic haha

I wanted to challenge myself to do a project where I allowed myself to make mistakes and not be perfect and not worldbuild myself into a pit

with longform webcomics, when it takes so long to make something, and you're working on the same story for years..... people grow as creators, and as people, and develop different tastes and learn things..... and it'd be a shame to not be able to express that if you're stuck to the same script you wrote 5 years ago, lol

Exactly!! When you think about like every longform webcomic taking like at least 5 years ... there's not a lot of years where you can be creating compared to the number of stories in your head.

And I really just wanted to make something and get my hands dirty. So it's been a really interesting experience, half following a plan and half throwing it out the window lol!

5. My favorite illustrations seem to be a rotating toss up of Belfry & Tam in the sunrise, Oakewood walking along the docks with Piper/Anthony/Tamberlane at sunrise, and the full shot of the Library at night(edited)

7. I really enjoy writing Briar and Belfry interacting. Small factoid that I don't think will ever be revealed in the story: the bulky blue and white scarf she's been wearing this chapter is one Belfry knitted for her (poorly). It's knotty and has a lot of gaps, but it was a work of love, and Briar wore it because 1) she loves it and she loves Belfry no matter what, and 2) sort of as a good luck token for Tess and Bel to make up.

Oh super belatedly, another thing about Follybrook: I LOVED that a lot of readers jumped to the conclusion that they were Othered because they were punky/bad tempered/non-binary. And then I loved watching them come to the realization that there were a lot of characters in Treehollow that fit those descriptions so it had to be something else. I think someone specifically called it out as an allegory for trans people, and then a couple readers mentioned Marie and they were like ... oh huh, hm.

I like making people think lol!

8. Hmm, I think I like the interaction with Leon, the grumpy crow. It was a scene that was written late in the game (like, during the scene before lol!) and I put up an auction for Leon's cameo slot. I really enjoyed being able to pack in a lot of underlying meaning to the interaction, and remind readers that Tamberlane's transition to creature society is not as smooth or effortless as it's seemed.

Plus, yeah, deciding on a whim to have Oakewood call her his granddaughter and out himself and his feelings was fun :3

There are SO MANY cute/loving character interactions, but I think when Briar is relaying her mom's message to Belfry really stood out to me because of how much she clearly cares and how torn she is in the middle of their conflict.

7) Probably Piper and Tamberlane. Unlike all the other relationships where its either warm fuzzies or kind of understandable anger and drama, theirs is the relationship i think is built entirely upon misunderstandings and kids being kids. Cause at the end of the day, Piper is still a kid so i have some forgiveness in her initial treatment of tamberlane. because honestly she probably just doesnt fully grasp yet the consequences of her actions. but its interesting to see how their relationship has been one of tension where youre really not sure if the trauma can be overcome or not. so that makes it really interesting. 8) I liked that small moment when Walter kind of took Tamberlane away from the fighting. Cause holy crap was that a significant change going from "your mistake" to here let me protect this little one. it was such a small thing but it really demonstrated the time passage and also kind of reflected that sometimes non acceptance is less about hatred, more about unfamiliarity. not to say he might not think shes a mistake, but that still was a lot warmer of an interaction than i expected and showed he cared. https://www.tamberlanecomic.com/tamberlane/page-132/

9) I love a lot of the little visual details on Tess. Like the scars, the bit that's taken out of her ear. It really shows off her past. And its just one of those super good character details a lot of people dont utilize and adds so much character to the character. <3 10) I actually connected with Avery the most, but this is in large because i was raised by a single mother. And to me i think Avery really captured that balance of needing to work, trying to be there for your kid, while also not really able to be there all the time cause of the work issue. So while Piper may not be the best behaved of the children, it's totally understandable given the circumstances and i give props to avery seeming to make it work regardless. overall, though, i think what we can learn about the various parent and child dynamics is that 1) parents are winging it and 2) while parents are a big influence, theres a point you have to divorce yourself from them and make your own choices in life.

I think the strongest aspect of the comic is its theming. Just the overarching theme of parenthood, and how the best of intentions don't always work out the way you planned. You can see that theme everywhere in the story (from big things like Belfy & Tess's fight to smaller things like Belfy's clumsiness), and it all fits togeter SO well.

11) I feel the comic's strength is showing relationships and having that be a major drive of the story. Like there's no shortage of parenting styles, friendships, or anything else. And everything is about how the characters work off one another. And no character is really all black and white either. they just all have different views and different ways of handling things. so i think that makes all the character interactions interesting since you never know quite what youre gonna get ever instance. 12) The aspect that caught my eye the most was the presence of another spoken language. I hope it's explored more where that comes from and such, cause its a really interesting facet given everyone else is otherwise speaking the same language. the other detail im really interested in seeing explore is how the world is set up. like we know there are sailors who go around and explore but avoid aborad, so im curious what their known world is like in its totality. 13) I'm looking forward to seeing Belfry grow more and come more into her own. Atm, I kind of feel shes still just a kid trying to figure stuff out, so itll be interesting to see how tamberlane changes and effects her maturity levels. 14) Yes. Aborad feels like it's brought up too many times for belfry to not have to go. But I feel going will be a good thing cause it will kind of force the world to maybe stop ignoring abroad and accept that its part of the world too, whether they want it to be part of it or not.

so anyone from silver sage who Wants to do those things has to move to follybrook, and the creatures of follybrook have just as much disdain for the ol' fuddyduddies who refuse to let people do what they want with their bodies as the creatures of silver sage have for them

also it seems like metal is Important to silver sage's culture in some specific way, like it has spiritual significance

I picked the one and only Everlie for this ^-^

WHAT

What is your character’s favorite memory?: When she was about eight Everlie had an episode with her epilepsy and Gen let her stay home from school. All the other kids were at school that day and Ianthe had to go to work so it was just the two of them all day. It wasn’t a very special day, but she got to stay in her pjs all day and her and Gen spent most of the day drawing and painting together. They watched a few movies in bed and Gen let her have a few sweets before dinner. And again it wasn’t anything special, but it was just being able to spend the day with her mom and having it just be the two of them that made this particual day stand out for her. But she has a lot of favorite memories in life.

Who and what would your character give their life for?: Atticus most definitely. If that meant she would be okay then she’d do anything for her. And Jonah. She’dd do anything in her power to make sure that kid was safe and happy.

What is your character’s greatest fear? Losing Atticus in any way.

What is your character’s proudest accomplishment?: At the moment it would be getting an interview to her dream art school and hopefully getting accepted! It’s a very prestigious school in New York and the acceptance percentage is very low, and it’s an honor to even be called in for an interview. And when she was a little younger, she got a showcase at the young artist column in an art magazine which was great publicity.

What is your character’s #1 insecurity?: Her looks and her personality. Or really how she compares to Atticus. She’s so shy and quiet and she’s not entirely adventurous when it comes to making friends and dating and doing things daring unless Attie is forcing her to do those things. And I think she kinda is jealous of Attie’s carefree nature, and the way she just doesn’t care, and Everlie’s problem is that she cares too much, and she doesn’t really like that about herself. She just wants to be more like Attie.

What will/can break your character completely?: losing someone she cares about like a family member, or Atticus. If one of her parents or her siblings died she wouldn’t be able to handle it. It hurt her pretty bad when her Aunt Anna passed away, and she didn’t remember her a whole bunch. So if it were someone close to her, especially Atticus then she just wouldn’t be able to go on anymore. She can’t really handle death very well.

What would your character make a scene in public about?: There’s nothing really because she’s far too shy to do anything like that, but I’m sure if it were to happen then Atticus Temple would be involved somehow.

What can drive your character to do criminal acts?: ^^^ Atticus Temple. It’s not huge things either. Underage drinking, smoking weed, trespassing into the local pool at night, skipping school, fake i.ds that kind of thing, and she hates doing it too but Attie always talks her into it.

What Pet (mythical or not) would your character want to have?: She loves foxes, so she’d have a whole house out of the cute lil things. Mythical, I think she’d want something like Kirara from Inuyasha

What is the cutest thing your character has ever done?: She loves to draw portraits of the people she loves and will give them the drawings to keep. She also kind of still sleeps with a stuffed animal her grandfather got her when she was a baby and will talk to it sometimes ;-;

HOW

How does your character feel about sexual intercourse?: At this moment it’s not high on her priority list, and she’s only done it once.

How close is your character with family and friends?: She adores her family. Yess even Lakynn even though they’re not the closest. But she would do anything for her family and always makes sure that they know she loves them. As far as friends go she only has Atticus, and again she’d die for Attie, so she’s a very devoted person when it comes to the people in her life.

How does your character react to pressure?: She works suprisingly well under it and it makes her work harder and faster, and she gets more done.

How religious is your character (if they believe)?: She’s not that religious. She’s curious about it and wouldn’t mind learning and going to church to give it a try, but she’s not sure what she believes right now. Her parents weren’t that religious so she grew up that way.

How does your character’s personality change when someone gets uncomfortably close (relationship wise)?: She gets very tense and anxious and it makes her very awkward whenever it happens, but she’s so shy she wont say anything and will kind of hope that you get the idea and will back off, and it has gotten her into some bad situations before.

How does your character’s living space correlate with their personality?: Her room is so HER. It’s filled with bright colors and patterns and it’s girly but it’s also laid back. She has band posters and music posters on the wall, along with pictures of her family and friends she has taken with her polaroid, and a lot of her favorite sketches are also on the wall. It’s messy but a controlled messy which is how she likes things. And it’s very dimmed lighted with her fairy lights there to brighten the place up. Her room is one of her favorite places to draw and relax and she wouldn’t change it for anything.

How well does your character act around with unknown and different people?: She shuts down. She’ll stand there and let the person do the talking and will hardly say anything in response, and it’s not to be rude, she hates that she can’t really talk to someone, it’s just so uncomfortable for her it fills her with anxiety.

How much does your character value money?: She’s learned to respect money. She’s seen people at school who are well off and are unhappy and not friendly because of it, and she knows it doesn’t buy happiness. And while her family isn’t poor they can’t buy everything they want and they have struggled in the past with it due to medical bills and all that with her health issues, so she respects money and she thinks that you earn it by working hard, and you shouldn’t let it change you, and you should still be nice and welcoming to everyone despite financial situations.

How would this character cope with losing someone extremely close to them? Kinda explained it up above, but she would not handle it well. She doesn’t handle death well anyway, so if she lost a parent or a sibling, or Attie it wold kill her inside too and she would just not be able to cope.

How long does it take for your character to trust others? She’s too trusting of everyone, that’s one of her biggest problems. She’s so naive she thinks the best of everyone.

SCENARIOS

If your character could change one thing about themselves, what would they want to change?: She wishes she wasn’t so shy and she could be more like Atticus in the way that she doesn’t care what people think. She also wished she looked different, and was ‘prettier’.

If your character could go back in time at any point in their life, what would they do to change the present?: She would go back to when she witnessed Attie’s father beating her, and didn’t step in. She would have stopped him or called the police or something. That haunts her all the time.

If your character was given a chance at fulfilling their dream, can they drop everything they have now to go pursue it?: That’s kind of what she’s doing right now!! She’s dropping everything to go off to New York for the art program and if it all goes to plan she’ll be moving there in the fall!

If your character’s current spouse or partner cheated, would they try to make it work or leave forever?: Welllllllll Atticus is the closest thing she has to a partner, even though they’re not, and wellllll Attie is Attie so she sleeps around a lot, even after things changed between her and Ev, and Everlie knows this, and she’s still trying to make things work. It’s a very complicated relationship.

If a zombie apocalypse begun in the town your character currently lives in, what would they act like?: She would freak out and wouldn’t know what to do. She’d look to her parents for help. But I don’t think she’d make it very long in this situation because of all her health problems

What if your character suddenly woke up to an unfamiliar place, and realize the life they lived was all a dream. Their family, friends, home.. all gone but still crazily vivid in their head. How would they react?: She would probably just sob and just wouldn’t know how to cope. Sh’d miss her parents and her siblings and Attie more than anything, and just cry a lot of tears.

If your character was thrown in jail, what would they be guilty of?: Probably something Attie put her up to like skinny dipping or stealing a road sign or something

Rewind 10 years from now, what is your character currently doing?: She’d be 7 uhh so she’d probably be playing with Barbies and watching cartoons with Attie and being adorable

Your character is in the movie SAW, facing their worst fear. What is that fear, and how does he/she react?: Her biggest fear is drowning and she dreams about it A LOT and also being buried alive and she has so survival instincts or skills so she would not know how to get out of it so she’d probably cry and have an asthma attack.

We regret to inform you that your character is dead. Where do they end up? Heaven? Hell? And how the heck do they react?: Uhhh she can’t die okay because she’s my favorite and I wont allow it. But this is tough...right now if she die at 17 then yeah Heaven and she’d be bummed because of all the things she’s missed out on. If she died in say 4 years....Hell. Below hell. Bad bad bad things and she’d be excited to finally end life. Say 7ish years....heaven again because god would finally give her a break ,and she’d be upset to go again (maybe). It all just depends. But she’s not dying okay?
