Yharnam in Austria:
The Good Hunter’s victory against the Moon Presence heralded more than just the end of the Hunt: it was the end of Yharnam as well. In the Waking World, a great earthquake tore across the Valley of Yharnam, and dislodged tons of ancient glacial ice. Old Yharnam’s protector Djura, finally driven mad o’er the night, set Old Yharnam ablaze to put his charges out of their misery. With no one to halt the advancing inferno, Old Yharnam was finally burnt away. The earthquake shattered the natural foundations that kept Castle Cainhurst aloft its island perch, sending much of its gothic architecture crumbling into the lake below. The glacial ice rumbled down the valley and buried what remained of Old Yharnam, Byrgenwerth and Hemwick Charnel Lane under tons of snow and ice. All that remained was the Cathedral Ward and the rest of Yharnam proper. When the Great One’s influence flittered away, time reclaimed its hold on the valley and eroded the city into androgyne stone…The Night and the Dream... were long.

Promises Chapter 0 Prologue
“With Dracula, his generals and armies out of my way, I can finally step up to be the next vampire queen in rule without any obstacles standing in my way,” Carmilla let out a cold laughter as she sat on the throne in her castle located Styria, Austria.
“We indeed owe our sincerest gratitude to Dracula’s own half vampire son, Belmont and the Sorcerer from Yharnam for disposing him,” Luciana, Carmilla’s most trusted right-hand general, spoke out.
“Yes I can’t help but agree,” the now self-proclaimed vampire Queen nodded. “I am disdained to serve under the commands of mad men. Dracula’s plan to annihilate all humans is after all, a suicidal mission. He just wants to be with his disgusting human pet thus dragging us down to demise. I’m relieved he’s gone for good.”
“Still,” Luciana cast a worried gaze. “The Belmont is a bother.”
“Hmm,” Carmilla snapped her fingers and a mirror appears in front of her. Its reflection showed Trevor alongside with Adrian and Ezio, riding on a wagon chatting happily.
“Where do you think they’re going?” she questioned.
“From the spying eyes of my crows, they are heading towards Braila Milady.”
“Really?” Carmilla licked her lips. “How convenient.” She then gestured Luciana to come closer and begin to gently caress her chin with her slender fingers. “Luciana,” she called out her general’s name in an alluring tone. “You’re one of my most capable servant and the only one qualified for this mission therefore can you do me, your Queen a favor?”
Luciana felt mortified as Carmilla proceed to kiss her on the neck. “Anything for you Milady,” she purred. “I live only to serve you in life and death.”
“How amiable you are. Can you apprehend the Belmont child and bring him here?”
There was a brief pause shared between the two before Luciana bowed down respectfully. “As you wish.”
“Unscathed.”  Carmilla smirked.
And her general was gone. Carmilla helped herself to a glass of blood wine as she gazed towards the snowy night scenery outside her window. “I can’t wait to welcome the boy to my domain.”
Hopefully I can continue this...It’s been in my mind for weeks after finish watching Castlevania S2. Also I want to sincerely apologized that I never added Sypha in any of my random fics. I like her but not really a fan so I hope you readers understand. I’m a big fan of crossover so yeah my fics can turn out weird...

Yharnam in Austria Headcanon:
When The Good Hunter signs the contract which binds them to the Hunter’s Dream, their memories are taken by the Moon Presence. For her plan against the Great Ones to succeed, this is a necessity. Otherwise, why would the Hunter dedicate themselves to the slaughter of Beasts if their happy memories tempt them to awaken from the Dream? The only memories that remain are vague recollections; the perfect blank slate for the Moon Presence to mold into their perfect killing machine…

Yharnam in Austria Headcanon:
There is a legend in Yharnam, of a special outsider. When the Huns sacked Western Europe, a strange man rode with them. He wore a cape crafted from the feathers of vultures, and wielded twin sabers with unparalleled skill and ferocity. He held no real loyalty to his fellow Huns, only riding with them so he might continue his mysterious work. Even after they were driven out of Europe, he continued to wander until he stumbled into Yharnam. It was said he settled on the outskirts of the city, teaching his skills to anyone who were brave enough, forming the basis of what would one day become the Hunter of Hunters…

Full headcanon: Yharnam in Austria The Hunters once developed a style of hand-to-hand combat dubbed “Hunter’s Claw.” The style was designed for close quarters combat against those infected who haven’t begun the transformation into beasts just yet. The style heavily focused on aggressive strikes with open palms or closed fists to quickly subdue the opponent. The style’s originator remains unknown, but it was commonly believed to have been developed by a student of Irreverent Izzy. It was widely disregarded as an impractical method of dealing with the Scourge. Some even saw it as devolving oneself to the level of Beasthood, further stigmatizing it. Hunter's Claw ultimately became forgotten, catalogued in old Church texts as another bizarre invention of a very disturbed mind… Though, considering man’s relationship with the Great One’s, is not fitting that we fight like the Beasts we are deep down…?

Yharnam in Austria:
Yharnam boasted a very large and robust population before its collapse. Even before the discovery of the Old Blood, Yharnamites on average were taller and stouter than their European neighbors, and less likely to become sick with more common illnesses. This was due to their dealings with the Pthumerians, who provided agricultural and horticultural techniques largely forgotten by the world at large, allowing the Yharnamites to sustain themselves in their self-imposed isolation. Combined with their innovations in agriculture and engineering, the city could remain isolated almost indefinitely. Unfortunately, the introduction of the Healing Blood and the rise of the Beast Plague brought an end to this prosperity.
As the Yharnamites gorged themselves on the Healing Blood, their health gradually declined. Their once hearty bodies became malformed, gaining their signature long limbs and losing their resistances. Heavier users of the Healing Blood became the first Scourge Beasts, feasting on the homeless and elderly. As the plague spread and more Hunters fell to the Beasts, Yharnam’s infrastructure fell into disrepair without the population to sustain it. By the time Good Hunter arrives, only five hundred or so residents remain...

Yharnam in Austria headcanon: Gay Edition.
The three branches of the Healing Church have differing views on homosexuality, corresponding to their respective schools of thought on the healing blood.
-The Healing Church proper view homosexuality in a rather negative light. They see it as counterproductive to the growth of Yharnam's population: The less couples there are producing children, the fewer future hunters there are to fight the beasts. Church doctors are forbidden from engaging in homosexual relationships.
-The Choir's position is somewhat neutral. Although they find homosexuality rather odd, they just sum it up as peculiarity in human nature. With the study of the Great Ones and the cosmos, there are stranger things out there to question, after all. So, it isn't uncommon to see the odd Choir members engaging in homosexuality.
-The School of Mensis enthusiastically approve of homosexuality. Their study of the Old Blood has brought them to the conclusion that there should be no boundaries to human potential, especially where gender and love are concerned. Many Mensis scholars routinely switched partners, male or female, without restraint.
Eventually their behavior became so out of control that the Healing Church, shortly before its downfall, made it illegal to practice homosexuality. But love persists, as it does, even in the throes of beasthood...

Yharnam in Austria:
Yharnam society places a very heavy emphasis on family and community. Because of the danger of the Hunt, Yharnamites have developed strong communal bonds. These started as pacts of trust between families, promising to care for each other if they are lost to Beasts, but as time went these bonds simply became a part of Yharnamite culture. Pacts can grow to encompass dozens of families, so many citizens are personally familiar with each other. Hunters are also encouraged to form strong friendships despite the dangers of their profession. In fact, many newlywed Yharnamites come from meeting on the night of the Hunt.
Since both genders are allowed to become hunters, the chances of a family becoming broken are exceptionally high. As such, the Healing Church has erected a welfare system for the benefit of those forsaken by the Hunt. Should the head of a family be lost during the Hunt, his family is compensated by having any outstanding debts be erased or be paid for by the closest relative. If both parents perish on the Hunt or the surviving parent dies, the children can be claimed by immediate relatives or, if no friends can care for them, are sent to the orphanage. Sadly, as Yharnam became corrupted by the healing blood, these bonds broke from rampant paranoia. Fewer true hunters rose to combat the Beasts, and the increasingly mad populace only swelled the ranks of what few Beasts were killed: leaving each forsaken child at the mercy of the Healing Church…

Yharnam is located somewhere in the Austrian Central Alps, within the Glockner Group of mountains. This location is known as Yharnam Valley, or “Talsz Vön Yarnam” in Yharnamisch. The valley itself is nestled in the Glockner mountain range, and is accessible via an ancient trail that runs along the northeast side of the Glocknerwand mountain. Thanks to the naturally thick snowdrifts, it is incredibly difficult to find and navigate the trail safely into the city. There are rumors amongst Austrians of secret entrances into the city, but none have returned to confirm such rumors…

Yharnam in Austria:
The Ancient Pthumerian Empire is believed to have been utterly massive in scale. Their sphere of influence is thought to have encompassed a great many territories. According to Pthumerian mystics and soothsayers, their northern most influences were in Western Europe and into the eastern most parts of what modern Russia would one day be. To the south lay their territories in the Caucuses and the Mediterranean, and some Byrgenwerth Scholars theorize they may have had sparse settlements into the deserts of the Middle East. With their abilities granted to them by communion with the Great Ones, they ruled over their immense empire for thousands of years.
Their reign came to a gradual and torturous end when the Toba Eruption occurred 75,000 years ago. The Ancient Pthumerians experienced massive population die out as their food sources became endangered, further exacerbated by their ritualistic sacrifices to the Great Ones. Societal order broke down as the once unified empire broke out into violent civil war, killing millions more. The survivors of the initial global cooling migrated to their settlements in the Middle East to survive. There they would stay, languishing with their Great Ones while another, lesser sub-species took dominion over the planet...

Full headcanon: More Yharnam in Austria headcanons:
Yharnam is not just known for its medical advances. Aside from their famous trick weapons, the city produced some truly impressive marvels of technology. Among the various weapons made by the old workshop, various inventors have crafted rudimentary timed explosives, gas operated turrets, weight-based locking mechanisms on doors, and so on and so forth. There were even rumors one Yharnamite thrill seeker had developed blueprints for the first gasoline powered vehicle in the form of a primitive motorcycle.
Yharnam's bigger brother Germany had a nasty habit of sending spies to steal the designs for their inventions or convince their inventors to work for their masters. Many of these spies had a problem with disappearing after sunset, however, so Germany eventually stopped trying. It is ultimately a good thing Yharnam succumbed to the Scourge when it did. Tensions in Europe had been boiling at a feverish pitch, and the less of Yharnam's innovations these soon to be warring nations had, the better...

Halloween in Yharnam In Austria:
The Yharnamites once celebrated a native holiday known as "Night of the Thriller." It was a child friendly iteration of the typical Beast Hunt, held every year on October 31st. On this night Yharnam's children were invited to spend a night in the relative safety of Cathedral Ward, cloistered inside the Grand Cathedral to await the end of the Hunt. Inside, the children were treated to a grand feast and entertainment by the Church's clergy, who tell stories of past hunts for the entertainment of the assembled youngsters. Then, Pthumerian performers would dress up in beast hides and pretend to be "hunted" by the children, who wielded wooden versions of trick weapons.
Despite the sinister connotations, the holiday itself was almost entirely benign. Its sole purpose was to bring peace of mind to the children of Yharnam, and make a spectacle of the hunt to make it less frightening to them. It wasn't until the Church came to power that the holiday was in danger of becoming a tool for indoctrination. Laurence kept these plans from coming to fruition but his death, combined with several macabre incidents, led to the holiday being abandoned by the populace. In the coming years before Yharnam's full collapse, the Night of the Thriller became just another operation by the Healing Church to obtain the secrets of the cosmos. And the children? Well, their importance in this grand scheme wasn't entirely lost...

Yharnam is located in Western Europe. To be more precise, in this world it's located in a valley deep within the mountains of Austria, blocked off by winter snow. That's why the architecture is so gothic in design, and why so many of its citizens have different european names. After all, people would flock from all over to get a taste of healing blood…

For the Yharnam in Austria Headcanon:
The Yharnamites speak their own dialect of German called Yharnamisch. It is similar to the Plattdeutsch dialect of German but contains a mixture of words from the ancient Pthumerian language. As humans and Pthumerians co-mingled with each other, their languages mixed together to form a guttural tongue, one only the Yharnamites seem to understand. Due to the supernatural nature of Yharnam, newcomers who settle in the city learn the language much faster than a simple visitor. Almost as if the city itself is preparing you for the hunt…
