Megatron talks to Starscream like how sigma grindset males talk to women. He sounds like he would unironically say, "You're not a high value female. That's why you could never lead. Because my army KNOWS I'm a high value male and until you become a high value female, you will never succeed in your life."

For me, Shadow and Amy's dynamic is basically two different types of touch starved in a person
((If any of the gifs on this post aren’t loading for you on mobile--like they aren’t for me--you can download them or check the sources listed. As for desktop, they play just fine, but they won’t line up next to each other like they do on mobile. Tumblr is a comedy of errors.))
Yes! Absolutely. I’ve seen tons of fans say Shadow is prickly and would respond badly to hugs, but canon says otherwise. This is a bad reaction:
Tumblr media
[Sonic 06]
Whenever I feel like being sad, I wonder if Bad-Future-06 Silver has ever been hugged.
This is a bad reaction:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Sonic Unleashed, gif source.]
And I shouldn’t have to say this, but...yeah. These are very bad reactions:
Tumblr media
[Sonic X]
Tumblr media
[Sonic Generations]
Yikes. I feel bad for both of them.
But this?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Sonic Adventure 2, gif source.]
This is Shadow’s only canonical hug in the games, and aside from jumping slightly from being snuck up on, he seems to like it just fine.
Tumblr media
Just look at that smile! He’s happy. He finds it endearing.
It was a hug from a complete stranger meant for someone else, but he still drank it in--and, given that he’d effectively just lost Maria, he really did need it. It’s the combination of Amy’s gentleness AND her speech that changed his mind. After all, if someone as sweet as her sees something in the humans, maybe they’re not so bad.
My buddy who runs @shadowxamyweek recently reblogged a post about this hug, and their tags sum it up perfectly:
Tumblr media
[ID: A screenshot of tags on a post. The tags read:
#official art #4kids #shadow the hedgehog #amy rose #YEAH 😭 #listen I read nothing that has happened with them in SA2 as shippy - and i ship them #THIS HUG? THR SPEECH ON THE ARK? #those are two lonely kids #those are two left behind kids #those are two kids so desperate for affection #for two vastly different reasons #Amy loves with her whole chest and will never stop doing so- no matter what happens #and Shadow does too- that is key to remember- Shadow loves... so fucking much... that it hurts #you are RIGHT op when you say this is probably the first time someone has been gentle with him in a long long time #he doesn't even run away #in the game- when Amy flees- he takes a step after her- a moment's hesitation- a 'wait' #this kid NEEDED a hug #and i firmly believe part of the reason Shadow listens to Amy in the end is BECAUSE she is the only person who showed him gentleness #softness and kindness and affection #if only for a moment #fjdodhdofjgor THIS is what i mean when i say 'be gentle- be kind' #it MATTERS #it FUCKING MATTERS
End ID]
Shadow doesn’t hate hugs inherently; it’s just that no one hugs him in the first place...
...aside from one person.
Amy’s easily the most affectionate character in the cast. It’s cute at first glance, but there’s a common thread to every instance that puts a damper on it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She’s always, ALWAYS the initiator.
She puts more into each hug than anyone else does.
She’s always the last to pull away.
The most reciprocated Amy hug I know of in canon is this one:
Tumblr media
[IDW Sonic issue #22]
Which is absolutely adorable...but Amy still initiated. Because it’s always her job. Even the characters who like affection don’t need it the way she does...with one exception.
Tumblr media
And this tiny detail just killed me. The little, “wait, come back 😟”
It’s the only time I know of when someone has actually stepped after her like this. In a game where everyone left Amy behind, he wanted to follow her. Mister so-called-prickly didn’t want the hug to end.
Because he’s the only one who needs it as much as she does.
He wants to be held as much as she wants to hold someone else, and no one else is warm and sincere enough for it. Compare these instances:
Tumblr media
[IDW issue #6]
Sonic thinks Shadow is wrong about something, so he grabs Shadow’s arm to stop him, and Shadow aggressively wrenches it away and leaves.
Tumblr media
[Archie Sonic Universe #23]
But when Amy thinks Shadow is wrong about something and grabs his arm to stop him, he gently removes her hand and thinks about what she has to say.
Even when he doesn’t want to be touched, he makes the distinction between “don’t touch me” and “not right now, please.” These are from two different continuities, of course, but I think the point stands. Amy’s special. He’s gentler with her than he is with other people, and that’s consistent across all canons.
Side note: how often does Amy get to feel special like that? I actually really like that Sonic doesn’t place others in a hierarchy of importance, and I wouldn’t change that about him even if I could...
Tumblr media
[IDW issue #2]
...but Amy does play favorites. I want her to feel like she’s someone else’s favorite, too. I want her to have someone who puts her first and likes her best. I think Shadow’s more than capable of that. I believe he craves clinginess like hers deep down, even if he hasn’t consciously figured that out yet.
I have an entire tag for these two being affectionate. My favorite is probably this one.
Of course, there may be those who say I’m reading too much into one (1) hug. And you know what? Maybe they’re right! We need a bigger sample size. Sega, make more characters hug Shadow, please. Let Rouge comfort him after he confides in her about something. Have Omega give him an awkward metal embrace because he read on the internet that organic beings like that kind of thing. Make Shadow himself pull Silver into a hug when he’s breaking down crying from the stress of always having to be a hero. Show Tails accidentally grab onto him out of fear when they’re trapped in a lightning storm, and when he gets embarrassed and pulls away, have Shadow hold him for the rest of the storm and admit he’s not fond of bright lights, either.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Sonic Boom]
That scene where Shadow and Amy rescue Cream and Cheese from Cryptic Castle? That easily could’ve turned into a cute group hug.
Tumblr media
[Shadow the Hedgehog (2005)]
And I have seen some absolutely adorable fanart where he holds Cream’s hand while he and Amy lead her through Cryptic Castle to make sure she doesn’t get lost 🥺
Have Knuckles give him an empathetic bro-pat on the shoulder when he finds out Shadow’s the last one of his race, too.
Tumblr media
[Archie Sonic Universe #89]
Have Sonic try to hug him, and then when Shadow inevitably pushes him away and says he doesn’t do hugs, have Amy arrive and latch onto Shadow instead while he tries to stutter out an excuse as to why she’s allowed to and Sonic isn’t.
The most affection Shadow has in recent history is stuff like this...
youtube
[Sonic Prime season 2 episode 1]
...where Sonic tries to hug him and Shadow immediately pushes him away, knocks him over, and tries to punch him in the face. Kind of says it all. Amy stands out as the only one with a good track record here.
Tumblr media
[IDW issue #36]
Especially when you have him look at her like this when someone else is on the receiving end of that affection.
So in the absence of further evidence, I have no choice but to interpret this in the most Shadamy way possible. Your move, Sega.

There is never too much yapping about Prison Scourge. This arc is literally his last appearance and there’s just so much to go off about. Especially thanks the arc being so open-ended (don’t count the super genesis wave it never happened he’s alive somewhere/coping). Where’s another Sonic that is dealing conditions similar to Scourge? Even Game Eggman treats his prisoners nicer than the Warden who’s supposedly has these good intentions in mind for Scourge.
(Shit if this was written post in the IDW era, you know damn well they would’ve had these experiences crawl around his head like a parasite.)
Also do you think another way Scourge was intentionally defined as the Anti-Sonic was by how he was breaking down and mistrusted his only support left at first or do you think Sonic himself if switched places would be worn down a similar way? Sonic is just usually portrayed as such a strong figure, I see him going with the flow of things, win some respect with the prisoners somehow, him getting super worried for his friends rather than himself if they busted him out.
Sonic would’ve made some friends, trying to make the best of the situation and wouldn’t have broken down as easily as Scourge. I mean — Sonic Forces — he was perfectly fine after being trapped for 6 months. Scourge had that happen because he NEEDED to be broken down.
Everyone hated Scourge because he was probably so full of himself when he first came in, and the fact that King Maxx was incharge? Yikes,
Sonic, if placed in the same position, probably wouldn’t have the exact same treatment as Scourge. One, the guards wouldn’t mistreat him as much, and I don’t think he’d be beat around as much as Scourge
Scourge PROBABLY would’ve made his own gang if King Maxx was not also in the same prison as him. Maxx was the reason why Scourge was a prison bitch. He said that if Scourge didn’t make his own gang, he wouldn’t order him to be torn from limb to limb.
i think the reason Maxx does this was because of both Anti-Jules and Scourge. He hates them both, Anti-Jules was probably the reason why Maxx was imprisoned anyway. He was the FORMER king of Moebuis, and we know Anti-Jules had been king since Scourge was.. around 3? Or 6? If you account the fact that Scourge killed his dad at either 13 or 16. I can talk essays about Anti-Jules and Maxx ALONE but this is abour Scourge.
I think what most people tend to overlook is the fact that Scourge IS STILL A SONIC. “He’s the anti version though!” In PERSPECTIVE! As in he’s a villain instead of a Hero, Sonic’s worst qualities enhanced in a character. He had a gang, friends even, the suppression squad. Like I said in a previous post, I think Scourge found comfort in them.
The reason why he lashes out in issue 161-162 (around there) is because he was in a bad mental state, he killed his father, there isnt that much stability in there.
I don’t think Scourge really trusts anyone. While Sonic grew around supportive friends and family. Scourge grew up alone, neglected, and bitter. He never mentions his mother, or his variant of uncle chuck, and we know about his father. He never had family to lean on.
Also, let’s not forget that everyone in Moebius is the worst. The whole thing is based around Anarchy and Chaos, no one would be trustworthy. Yet, the little prince found his friends in the streets whilst trying to defy his father’s rule
The fact that they doublecrossed him drove the nail home (or however the saying goes)
(I feel like I’m not making sense - am I making sense?)
Y’know while reading the prison arc. I was always pissed over the fact that Scourge never tried to befriend Al & Cal, especially when he took off their collars DESPITE their protests and left them to fend for themselves. Sonic would’ve, but Scourge isn’t sonic.
But, it makes sense. He had conquered his world, and almost Sonic’s. Then he was stripped of his powers, status, everything. He sees Al & Cal and hates then because, that’s who he was. He was them, figuratively. They had powers, all mighty gods, now stripped to nothing, just like him. He doesn’t WANT to be around them, a constant reminder of his biggest failure.

I finally read the IDW Sonic comics
I wonder if anyone’s been wondering why did it take me this long to do it. “You’re a Sonic fan, right?” I imagine some people who know me ask. I think people get the wrong idea of me.
I have strong opinions about Sonic-related things having followed the games for so long and having some Sonic games be my favorite games of all time. I was in Sonic forums, my first characters were Sonic fan-characters.
Tumblr media
(pictured: my first character)
But I think people think that because of those things, you need to “follow the fandom”, that you need to consume and like every single thing related to a franchise. I was like that when I was young, but I’ve been an adult for a decade, and I think “liking” things should be much more complex than “is of this intellectual property”. Do the people who made the things that you like about your favorite game still work at the company who owns the IP of its franchise? People make things, not companies, although it can be fun to see other talented people do their take on a thing that you like, when they have interesting ideas and aren’t doing so cynically.
Still, when it’s something that it’s been a big part of your life and you have strong opinions about it, you feel the pull of curiosity tugging you, and when my friend asked me to read the IDW comics to talk about’em and gave me access to their account so I could do it, it felt like the perfect opportunity to jump in.
Tumblr media
To be honest, at first I was extremely bored. It took me something like 30-something issues (yikes!!!) to start coming around to it. I thought that the writing was really boring. It wasn’t funny, it wasn’t witty, it didn’t make me feel things for the characters. Especially at the beginning where they’re just introducing every single character from the games. Why? Couldn’t you introduce a handful to use for a story arc, then use another different selection for the next story? Were they worried that a kid that had Silver or the Chaotix as their favorite characters would think that they would never be a part of the story if they’re not introduced fairly early? It’s strange. So the first few issues feel like a bunch of “introduce a character and make them look cool defeating some robots”. It’s boring. I mean, there’s really no sense of danger when those characters are just fighting regular badniks, is there? You know it’s not going to be an issue. So why have them? You could argue, well, it can still be good action even when there’s no sense of danger or stakes. I think it can be great opportunities to make good physical comedy, like Tom & Jerry where the robots are Tom and Sonic is Jerry. But a lot of times the way to dispose of those robots is just a panel of like, Sonic dashing between a bunch of them and they explode. Snore! Like, remember how Sonic CD had those ending sequences of Sonic fighting badniks in different Zones and every single time he does it in a different way? How cool and even sometimes really funny it looked?
Tumblr media
dude... he’s made’em look like they were fuckin’
now let’s compare to literally one of the first pages of the IDW comics:
Tumblr media
Boring! Just because Sonic boosts into enemies to destroy them in the games doesn’t mean that I’d want to see him do that in a comic. Actually, especially because of that you *shouldn’t* do that in a comic! We’re outside of the boundaries of video games - you can write all sorts of scenes and actions and stories that we don’t see in a video game, that don’t work on that format, that we haven’t already *seen* in the games. Give us something new, exciting, funny!
This is actually a big issue that I have with adaptations nowadays. It feels like we’re overcorrecting the fact that adaptations in the west were often completely uninterested in the original material, now going too far into “needs to be very literal to the source”. And especially with the IDW comics at first, it feels like a barrage of references to the games, like it’s marred to this mentality that more references = better adaptation. Anyone can read a wiki nowadays, it’s not impressive. It just feels like you’re being bombarded with stuff that shouldn’t even be here. Who was asking for the Deadly Six to come back? Why do we need them? And like, because I got the Sonic brainrot I understand every time that they pull something out of the reference hat, but often they’ll reference things in ways that I’m like “how is a kid supposed to understand what this *means*”, like they’re written like you’re supposed to already know these things, already have played every single other game, and the comics are just a “sequel” to all of that.
Anyway, I think this issue with the action might also be a problem of how comic books are made. Writer and artist are often separate entities, unlike manga, so you often don’t get like, very specifically graphic comedy or action that requires that many panels to set up a joke or some specific action that is maybe only appealing because of how specifically it is drawn. I’m guessing the writer just writes “Sonic disposes of badniks” and the artist isn’t going to debate “well, if we can make some significant cuts to other things that you wrote and give me some time, I can both think up and do a whole sequence that takes up a page and a half as to how he disposes of this very small inconsequential thing in a way that’s funny or fun”. That isn’t going to happen. You’re going to get one or two panels of Sonic dashing into these inconsequential badniks unless the writer envisions a specific bit and writes it down, I’d imagine. Unless you got pages to spare. Also all the characters look like that while they’re doing it, right? The smug smile, throwing a quip or two. I really dislike that. There’s not much emotional range in the comic for a while, it’s just this emotional temperature for several issues.
And even when they start introducing different emotional temperatures and character conflict, the writing at first really isn’t great. I was also not sold by the Metal Virus story, even though there are some nice ideas that I really like in them, I don’t think it’s “there yet”. I think this page here illustrates my issues with the writing:
Tumblr media
For context, Cream (the rabbit) is something like 6 or 8 years old, and the robot (Gemerl) is her robot friend butler who decides in its programming that the best course of action to make Cream and her mom safe is to beat up everyone infected by the virus that turns people into robot zombies - Sonic’s partially infected and is fighting off the disease.
Like, is this how a 6 year old would talk? Is this how a 6-8 year old girl would plead to her friend to not attack her other friends? It feels like that genre of tweets where it’s like “my 6 year old son walked up to this bigot in the bus and told him how racism and homophobia is bad and that you should vote joe biden and the entire bus clapped”. I think she should be scared, she shouldn’t be able to “make an argument”, like she’s not that articulate or confident in her own words, but that she knows that it’s wrong, she knows she doesn’t want this to happen and is pleading desperately to Gemerl and is maybe confused as to why would Gemerl even hurt her friend. It’s also really weak that Gemerl would just be convinced by this tepid argument like it hasn’t thought of these things before until Cream said them, it makes Gemerl look really stupid. Maybe it changes its mind because Cream is scared, because it decides in its programming that keeping her happy is part of her safety or more important than her physical safety, maybe something else happens! I don’t know! I just know that what we got instead is boring!
There’s tons of plot points or conflicts that are disposed of quickly, easily, pointlessly like this. Sonic for an issue drops down in Blaze’s dimension with amnesia but gets his memory back and gets sent back to his world extremely quickly. Like we spend maybe 4 pages total with this whole “Sonic has amnesia” bit. Why did that happen at all, then? It’s not funny, exciting, it doesn’t set up anything, it’s... nothing. Nothing happens.
Also, a lot characters are constantly written in a really flat way. Especially if they’re good guys, they often don’t feel like they have motivations other than “to do good” and their argument for someone in a moral crisis is always “well, but you’re doing *good things* now, aren’t you?” And it makes me want to scream “Good doesn’t mean anything!” I think every character should be written like they have different ideas of what doing good for themselves and others mean. I think they get slightly better about this later on, they make it a point that Sonic’s ideals are about fighting for people to be free, that he prizes freedom above all else, which then leads to him resolving conflicts often with just letting villains go. But like, Tails disposes of a bad guy in an issue by putting him in jail. I would not write that. I think Tails is too lined up with Sonic’s ideals and prizes him too much to do something that Sonic would disagree with so strongly.
The art is also hit-or-miss. I don’t like shit-talking visual artists. Illustration is hard especially if you’re banging these out quickly. Comics are hard! But the quality undoubtedly fluctuates a lot depending on what artist they got for the issue. I like a few artists and I don’t really like the rest.
---
Okay, so! With all of that out of the way, how exactly did I turn around on these comics? Just to be clear, I don’t think they completely turn around, a lot of these issues still somewhat persist, but are lessened.
Well, I think the comic really starts getting good once we get more of the original characters in. I really like them! They’re interesting concepts and they work quite well with the already established cast. Dr. Starline in particular, feels like a great secondary antagonist to play off Dr. Eggman and the rest of the cast. It’s a really welcome presence that never feels like it’s jutting out weirdly, like a guest appearance or a temporary addition.
Tumblr media
Belle the Tinkerer is also a really fun character. What all the new characters have in common is, besides that they’re fun conceptually and that they have fun designs and personalities, is that they’re allowed to have character arcs, growth, plotlines, these things that are essential for a comic that leans into a serialized narrative like this one, that they can’t quite do with the pre-established SEGA characters. It makes me wonder if a significant part of my issues with the early stuff is just that they were very tied on how they’re able to portray the pre-established characters or what they can do. Once they create a cast of new characters and flesh them out and create narratives surrounding them, it really starts to get going.
To be fair, the thing that most made me want to read these comics was Surge. One look at her and it’s like. Oh. she’s catnip made for me.
Tumblr media
But that made me all the more wary about her. Do I trust her to be written well? I think people often fall into these pitfalls writing the sort of character that she is and end up with stuff I find really bad. But man, I’m so glad she’s exactly the kind of character that I thought she was going to be, she’s written and drawn exactly how I would like her to be. I don’t wanna spoil people so I can’t exactly explain what that means, just know that: I love Surge, I really do. I’m just going to post some of my favorite panels of her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The art is also consistently better in the more recent issues (look at this last panel I posted! this artist gets a ton of work on the latest issues and their stuff consistently looks great!), and the Surge & Kit, Starline and Belle the Tinkerer plotlines are engrossing and fun. I’ve been finding plenty to like even if there’s some stuff I’ve felt is less than great still persists. In short, I’m glad that I didn’t quit even when I felt plenty justified in doing so. I’m trying to be open and not dismissive of things. Try stuff out and go through with them, because I don’t ever want to dislike something, and if I do, I want to be desperately proven wrong! If you keep trying new things out, even those that you’re iffy on looking from the outside, you’ll often find some stuff to enjoy, to enrich yourself, or even to just make an enormous post that nobody in their right mind will read afterwards.

Transformers: Monstrosity #6: Underworld
Read Date: May 09, 2023 Cover Date: May 2013 ● Story: Chris Metzen ◦ Flint Dille ● Art: Livio Ramondelli ● Letterer: Tom B. Long ● Editor: John Barber ●
Tumblr media
**HERE BE SPOILERS: Skip ahead to the fan art/podcast to avoid spoilers
Reactions As I Read: ● (cover) I went through a few seconds of the following: is that Jetfire on the cover? nah, he won’t be created for millions of years yet, on Earth. …except that’s Marvel’s continuity, not IDW. it is Jetfire! ● whoa! they’ve struck oil energon! ● yikes! Ratchet got scary!
Tumblr media
● a temporary madness ● well, now everyone knows your password, Optimus… ● Jetfire is so tiny next to that thing! ● 👏👏👏👏
Synopsis: While exploring the caverns beneath Toraxxis, Jetfire's science team find ancient writing on a wall depicting Transformers fighting a large monster. As they discuss what it might mean, believing it to be a warning of some sort, an earthquake strikes and send the team falling to a lower level where they find a pool of raw energon predating the destroyed refinery by millions of cycles.
At Metroplex, Optimus Prime is looking up info about the Dynobots, curious about their recent reemergence and Grimlock's strange alt-mode. Wanting to hear the team's story from the viewpoint of one of their fellow soldiers, he brings in Kup, who tells him that the Dynobots were once model soldiers in Nominus Prime's Primal Vanguard specializing in heavy weaponry, demolitions and sabotage, but vanished one day after completing a mysterious mission. Having heard his side of the story, Prime proceeds to open up the top secret files regarding the Dynobots' final mission.
Studying the energon pool, the Autobot scientists find that it's seemingly self-replenishing, but Perceptor believes there to be something odd about it. His observance is confirmed when another earthquake sends Ratchet falling into the energon, causing him to temporarily regress into a mindless beast and attack his own comrades. The others calm him down, but before they can study the energon further they are attacked by strange monsters.
Meanwhile, Optimus Prime finds that the Dynobots, or the Vanguard Covert Strike Force as they were formally known, had been sent to the Toraxxis Plains prior to the refinery's construction to investigate rumors of underground terrorist bases, but were instead attacked by vicious "cyber-morphic predators" living in the caves. Their field medic, Skar, had the team use "dynamic alt-mode adaption"—a method of scanning new alt-modes in the field—to take on new modes based on the monsters and escape, though he himself was killed in the process. On returning home, the remaining Dynobots were placed in quarantine so that their new alt-modes and Skar's dynamic adaption theory could be studied. Their grief over the loss of a comrade and callous treatment by their superiors caused the team to snap and run away, disappearing off the radar until recently. Having heard all this, Kup believes the Dynobots must be put down before their alt-modes cause them to go berserk, but Prime has faith that they can be saved.
Overwhelmed by the predators, the science team escape by blowing a hole into another cavern containing what appears to be a large structure. Noting that the creatures refuse to enter the cave out of fear, Jetfire goes to have a closer look and finds that it's not a building at all: it's the dormant form of an ancient, monstrous Transformer.

(Feel free to ignore this if you don't want to talk about IDW Sonic! /gen) I don't know if you've seen the solicits for issues 63 and 64 yet, but... yikes. I'm happy Silver is getting more focus, but it honestly feels as if they're just going the Archie Sonic route with him being kind of a literal dumbass jumping to conclusions left and right? In itself I don't mind that, I think it does suit Silver to immediately undertake action without thinking things fully through, but it's how the other characters (are going to) react to it. The fact that the solicit for issue 64 already says "Awkwardness ensures." is promptly giving me second-hand embarrassment, and it hasn't even come out yet! I really don't want another situation wherein everyone is going to jump down Silver's throat (*flashing back to Sonic dragging him by his quills through the town towards Antione in the hospital*) because of the narrative presenting him as an idiot who accuses others without proof and like a dumbass (even if Silver is right; I'm pretty sure it's already confirmed the blue cat dude is Mimic in disguise. I'm not sure if IDW Sonic the comic can be trusted for the others to put a genuine apology towards Silver when this comes to light.). It honestly makes me kind of sad that Silver might get reduced to just being The Dumb Overeager Guy Being Rude To Others And Who Everyone Thinks Is Stupid in this way, not to mention all the weirdness of him getting in the way of the Diamond Cutters and being an overeager fanboy despite having been perfectly able to work together with Whisper at the end of the Metal Virus arc (and, you know, being an immensely powerful psychic and stuff). The comic already went this route in issue 8, why are they dragging it up again despite having shown things that can definitely be interpreted as the contrary in issues 26 and 28?
Just something that has been on my mind ever since I read those solicits, and wanted to get off my chest😅
Stuck in the past with no clear directive, Silver decides to spend some time with the Diamond Cutters and their new member. But he’s too busy being star-struck over Whisper to notice that he’s interrupting their training! Elsewhere, Sonic takes Blaze sightseeing so she can enjoy her vacation.
This issue is all about Silver the Hedgehog! First, he's incredibly suspicious of the Diamond Cutters' new member and he jumps to a conclusion that leads him to some hasty accusations. Awkwardness ensues. Then, Blaze comforts Silver as they bond over being away from home and in Sonic's world.
I'm honestly surprised that they even remembered that Silver is a Whisper fanboy. Remember when people shipped Silvisper and Blazangle, before Whispangle fused together? Good times lol
Yeah, this plot is going to be cringe in the real sense of the word. I hate when the story is about characters making fool of themselves, and Silver is about to be a uwu cute but annoying idiot in #63, and a Mr. Conspiracy Theory (who was actually right all along) in #64? Miss me with that.
Remember when Silver kicked the entirety of Sonic's ass and came close to murder him in cold blood? I do. Silver is not an edgy murder machine and sure I can believe he's happier now, but come on, do something more with him than turn him into the cute child of the group!
Also didn't Silver already have a conversation about being stuck in the past in the 2022 annual, with Espio? A much more interesting interaction since the two have only been paired together in Rivals 2 of all things? Ah, but then again, if they're rehashing Archie, sure why not :V yay can't wait to see Sonic being an utter jerkass to Silver <3
And why oh why did you have to remind me of how awful Tangle's apology to Whisper was 😭 I hate that scene so much
... I hope they'll show Sonic and Blaze having fun on Frog Forest. I love Frog Forest 🥺 please just have two characters having fun on their own

BISCUIT YOUR MIND!!! YOURE A GENIUS TALK ABT HEDGEHOGS MORE GO GOG GO GO
i think that silver staying in the past doesn't necessarily mean he has to quit it with the time travel gimmick altogether, but first, a tangent
the inconsistency of how silver time travels pisses me off. in idw, he can't control it at all and it seems even the people writing the comic don't know how he does it. in 06, it was chaos control, which introduces a whole lot of paradoxes and problems regarding the chaos emeralds (what happens if the version of an emerald from the future comes back to the present? are there two of that emerald in the world now? yikes). in preboot archie, i believe he used the time stones and "kronos control", which is my personal favorite method of time travel. we'll go with that one
so, silver living in the past as his new permanent home. no worries about the future turning to shit and no benevolent time gods deciding what time he's in, he has agency over what's happening with him. i like the concept of him becoming a seer type character - the designated Future Guy, checking in on what's become of The Future every once in a while or when amy gets a particularly ominous tarot reading
another tangent: the more i think critically about idw the more i realize that yeah, the characters really don't have agency in a lot of ways. silver not having control of his time travel is... annoying.

I've heard people saying the tfe designs are ugly, and I super disagree! Megs looks great! You never see Optimus without his mask on so of course he looks like your dad without his glasses on,(still a cutie in my book!), Bee is cute as a button, holy shit Wheeljack! and Arcee, well... uhmm sheeess-- no. Nope she looks like a fucked up mannequin.
Phew! Cut time! Heres tfe Arcee for reference:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
her face looks like it's missing shine and definition, especially compared to Elita and Bee, and she has No Teeth. Especially in this gif. I'd say her eyes are the best thing to look at 😭 maybe they were trying to desexualize her? So they look away her lips? (Which every other mech in this show has lips...) You can be a tomboy Butch and Beautiful. It's so easy to make Arcee look good and it's even easier to make her look terrifying. And I feel like we've been getting a lot of terrifying Arcees recently!
I mean look at some of these figures; Jesus Christ. These are probably the exact opposite in problems but yikes yikes yikes. 😬
Tumblr media
(masterpiece Arcee and MMC Ocular Max Arcee)
It's like IDW Arcee was scary, but at least she's horrifying in a good way. In a kick my ass kinda way.
Maybe I just miss tfp Arcee what am I even saying. Thanks for reading my rambles lol!

Hello! Please call me Iris. I'm a longtime lurker in fandom spaces who has finally gotten brave enough to interact. I hope to start posting art and theories soon, and would be happy to talk about any of my interests! I am still learning Tumblr etiquette, so if I'm breaking any rules, please let me know.
I'm currently interested in:
-Transformers! I love all forms of Transformers media, but my favorites are Transformers Animated, Rescue Bots, the IDW comics, and G1!
-Team Fortress 2! I'm pretty new to the community, but I've consumed every comic, SMF, and piece of gameplay footage I can find. I haven't played the game, as multiplayer things scare me, but I hope to someday!
-Green Lantern! I've read pretty much everything written after 1990 and will happily annoy anyone with analysis and theories about my favorite lanterns!
-Trigun! Maximum is my favorite, but '98 and Stampede are also great !
-Marble Hornets! I am currently starting my yearly rewatch of the series. I have also watched a few of the Slenderverse series, but haven't finished them yet
Things that I like, but am not up-to-date on:
-TMNT! I am also new to this fandom, and have only finished ROTTMNT. Recommendations on where to start with other shows and comics would be much appreciated
-Hermitcraft
-One Piece (I know most of the spoilers but haven't kept up with the manga or anime since Dressrosa...yikes)
I am also a literature major turned English major, so I might occasionally ramble about books!

Sonic Battle has obsessed Amy, who wants to lose weight And Is rude to Cream. Amy being my favorite character, her being written like that ruins it for me.
Amy's one of my favorites too :P
While I respect the fact that a bad portrayal of your favorite character can sour your view of a game, I honestly don't feel it's fair of fandom in general to dismiss the game because of one or two bad portrayals out of nine (note: I'm including Eggman), because it borders on letting one bad apple spoil the entire bushel. Is a bad 10% of the game worth discarding a solid-to-great 90%?
I talk about Battle quite often because it offers us a lot in the way of character information not available in other games, such as Sonic's dislike of making girls cry, Eggman's views on mercy as weakness, Shadow's lack of selfishness leading to him never abusing his power, the existence of the final program, Sonic's conversation with Shadow being the polar opposite of the manipulation he pulled in IDW 6, etc. Battle is also the only game other than CD, prior to Frontiers, where Amy reading tarot is mentioned.
And, to be brutally honest, despite largely being Mega Yikes(tm), I still feel like there are small bits and pieces where Amy's portrayal is... not that bad, actually. I laughed at the part where she threatened a Phi robot, only to remember her "manners" and go "Ahem! Please tell the Doctor we do not wish to play with his little robots."

↳ Anonymous asked: 🗣 Amy?
Tumblr media
It's a love-hate relationship tbh. I'm a fan of the more independent characterisation of her, the ones where she's just straight a bad ass doing her own thing and swinging her hammer. From what I gather sort of they way she's portrayed in the IDW comics (again I don't read them and the most I ever see of them is here on this site).
I just think the damsel in distress thing is overplayed, and she's definitely earned the chance to grow from that and be her own person, and her own hero at that. Like, I enjoyed her portrayal in Boom to an extent but it was so chaotic at times that it was almost hard watch? Idk. And I hated her character in the older games and animals. Yikes.
I think we're finally moving in the direction of her being a heroine and not just a flaky side character who there for the demographics but we'll see.

I’m just starting #24 and this post is no doubt me stalling because I’m absolutely Terrified of this issue given everyone’s screaming, the fact that people have said they literally CRIED during this issue, and Ian saying it’s all uphill from here, meaning that I will be reading the absolute lowest point for the characters
But seeing most of the map that freakin CREAM drew be covered in red Xs now is both terrifying and heartbreaking
