the kuroi medals for arachnus/toadal are so good hold on guys let me be annoying abt them for a second. theyre both insanely cool references and I wish they took this route with more of the kuroi medals or the medals of classic yokai in general

Toadal's medal is a reference to Utagawa Kuniyoshi's ~c. 1826 print of Tenjiku Tokubei (a kabuki character who rode a giant toad mount)

And Arachnus's is based on the 14th-century Tsuchigumo no Sōshi Emaki (the scene where Yorimitsu kills the Tsuchigumo) (which used to be my header. if you remember The Olden Days)

I lovveveveeee when medal art is derivative and takes inspiration from historical art ouoyogyuguuyrhugurghguhhhhh (falls down the stairs and dies tragically

Around 3 months ago I ended up switching from Ibispaint (the program I used to use to draw) due to me getting tired of it and accepting that getting used to a new software was better, so I switched to Krita. And I came up with a fun way to get used to it: Draw one type of every medal.

I decided to make a list with every type of medal excluding their variants (like if they're Legendary) and mainly focus in the ones who have a different artstyle.

So I started with the one most fans are familiar with along with the first Yo-kai everyone meets: Whisper.

Aside from it obviously being based off that one promotional art of him, you'll notice that I wrote his Japanese name instead of using the "Yo-kai gibberish" that localised medals use. That's mainly because I wanted to give them a chance and see how well they'd look on them.

Next will be a Classic medal.

she is a A rank rare classic yo-Kai of the charming tribe her powers are to make thing fun and float/fly I know it’s stupid and plus I don’t think there’s Japanese folk lore about her powers I just made the power up I like how her medal turned out and I’m not going to make more because it was pretty hard to make this. But anyways what do you think
