Day 59 – Wobblewok

Very late but I like your Yo-kai Watch protag Lucas + unassuming small Wobblewok idea, and I gotta know more about Venoct filling Whisper's role. Does he actually know things or does he also use a book/tablet to cover his mistakes? Is he more of a right-by-your-side butler or a secret agent butler who deals with problems incognito?

OOOOOO good question

I feel like earlier on, Venoct would’ve acted more as Lucas’s behind-the-scenes guardian, mostly looking out for him from the sidelines and only ever revealing himself when Lucas got into serious trouble, because he knew Lucas was fully capable of handling the smaller things himself.

But as time went on and Lucas gradually found himself getting into more and more danger bc of yo-kai trying to kill him, Venoct had to increasingly keep stepping in until he decided it was best to just start playing an active right-by-your-side bodyguard role in Lucas’s life, and he slowly starts entering his overprotective-butler-dad arc

As for his knowledge about yo-kai, I DO feel like he’d know more than Whisper and wouldn’t need a yo-kai pad, but he’d do that thing he does in the anime where the others THINK he’s just playing up the “”crimes”” of some wimp ass yo-kai to make them sound scary and/or intimidating, but it turns out he’s talking about an ACTUAL big huge terrifying monster

like for example it *sounds* like he’s talking about manjimutt or tattletell at first, and Lucas just goes “haha he’s probably playing it up for dramatic effect” but then Mass Mutterer/Tattleterror ACTUALLY appears and Lucas is like “wait what the fuck”

But also for a bit of subversion I think it’d be funny if venoct just straight up WAS overexaggerating normal ass yo-kai sometimes. especially once he started becoming more overprotective and suspicious of others trying to kill Lucas.

Like Lucas eventually gets used to venoct’s dramatic descriptions and starts preparing for the worst, only for venoct to reveal that the “heinous” yo-kai they’re dealing with is actually just. like a flumpy or sum. lucas yet again goes “what the fuck” and venoct just says “LUCAS you dont UNDERSTAND, as your BODYGUARD it is MY JOB to ensure your SAFETY, and I can not allow ANY potential threat to slip under my radar, NO MATTER how UNASSUMING they may outwardly appear”

Runner ups ⬆️ Casanuva is like a Gameplay favourite because I had him in my top 3 slots all the time for recruiting and I grew to love him and his pants and he helped me get Noko on my first playthrough when I was getting really really unlucky befriending him Like double digit amount of attempts unlucky. And Shrook and Fishpicable because of my proclivities

Okay I had to limit myself to YKW1 designs only here because I will be honest I think 10 minutes of navigating the YKW Fandom wiki on mobile actually made me sick and now I have to lie down. Maybe I will come back to this later because I've played 1 to 3 and there's some designs in the other two games I really love but fuck I cannot look at my phone for the next half hour

My watch holder oc! Ishmael Abramovic is a young man from an alternate universe who is able to see spirits, and who received his yo-kai watch from the yo-kai Flaram, who now acts as his yo-kai butler. Thanks to his yo-kai watch and him befriending multiple yo-kais, he was able to find out how to cross over other universes and decided to dedicate himself from making sure the other universe don't undergo the same destruction his own universe suffered. His universe was destroyed by a war done by two very powerful countries, whose highest rankings found out about yo-kais, creating dreadful weapons, the IcarOS iron onis, as warriors against their enemies, but the war woke up Wobblewok, who was awakened by the immense yo-ki in use, and for this reason, he was one of the last survivors of his universe's Earth.

He befriended multiple yokais, including an ancient weapon of mankind against ultimate destruction (that weapon being Ultimate Robonyan), though he's not lucky at making friends due to his shyness and meek attitude. After a quest done with Nate and friends, he was even able to befriend YHWH, the ultimate form of Yaldabaoth.

Nowadays, he lives in Nate's universe for the time being and works as a postman. Hope you like the oc!

Plaster stans (me and my friend) are gonna be in shambles when we play yokai watch 2 cuz right from the start of the game there’s a clear difference in how ykw 1 whisper acted and how ykw 2 whisper acts.

Ykw 1 Whisper knows everything yokai related, he may be the comedic relief to Nate’s straight man act but he’s still smart. He does have his “dumb whisper” moments like during the nocturne hospital chapter or before & after the wobblewok fight or whenever his egotism gets to him but that’s VERY rare for him in the first game to act like that. I don’t even think he uses his yokai pad in the first game (he have one cuz it’s in the options icons in menu but still)

Then at the start of ykw 2 it’s immediately shown that Whisper is now dumb, he doesn’t know the answer to everything, he has to fact check everything he says, and I know why he’s like that (the anime) and I know that there’s even a lore reason behind it but it’s crazy how the soft reboot that happens just removes all the brain from whisper that was in the first game. Yo-kai Watch 2 is the equivalent of when DC reboots it’s canon every couple of years and the characters act slightly different but in Yo-Kai Watch’s case it happened once then never again.

Anyways I really like whisper, I think I prefer him in ykw 2 and onwards cuz he’s a goofy lil guy and that’s the Whisper I’m use to. But just for the Sigma universe, ykw 1 whisper holds a very special place in my heart as how canonically Plaster acts, he’s a very fatherly & smart person. Anyways, that was my Ted Talk, and you’ve been watching a fish, smoking a cigarette.

Hes more powefrul than Wobblewok, Kabuking, Kat Kraydel, Dame Dedtime- basically jiggly pan is more powerful than all the bosses in yokai watch 1-4.
