not telling anyone what to do but I kinda miss when the understanding abt multiple pronouns used to be that any are fine or different ones apply in different contexts whereas now the default assumption is you need to be constantly switching between them per sentence like that is really inaccessible for a lot of people + difficult in a second language + just genuinely defeats the linguistic object of a pronoun 😭
but I think it came from being a tme she/they who no one ever uses they for which I understand the frustration but i wish we could approach the root causes of that rather than the way I've seen ppl claim not alternating pronouns for someone midsentence is literally misgendering & honestly at the end of the day if you don't want someone to use she pronouns for you, tell them not to use she pronouns! we were all pronouns=/=gender until its "they to show I don't identify with the institution of womanhood, she to show my connection with femininity" but honestly how do you actually like being referred to, worry abt that. if u actually don't like ppl using she to refer to u then tell them that & if the discomfort is bc it shows their perception of u doesn't align w ur gender then like performative language doesnt actually change that anyway so mb if we stopped worrying about this we could actually have way more worthwhile conversations about gender.

right, so on the one hand, the results of that "does charlotte have a soul or not" poll would be a punch to the gut for char ( it was a NO majority ), but on the other hand, what would make her happy is to see . . . ( that is, what I'm noticing ) is how over the years, more of you guys are having your muses refer to her as "char." it's such a small detail, but it's so neat to see what was essentially shorthand only used for her in ooc context gradually begin to show up more often in actual threads / ic - dialogue.

every single episode of attack on titan season 4 is basically saying in bright flashing neon letters ‘do not demonise people who seem different to you. you are the same in all the ways that matter. painting others as evil only leads to senseless violence, which causes more violence in turn until you are trapped in an endless cycle of it’ and yet somehow all the crunchyroll comments are full of people like ‘eren did nothing wrong’ ‘i hope someone kills gabi’ ‘marleyans deserve to die because they struck first’ like oh my godd oh my god oh my fucking god. did the wind part your hair when the point sailed over your head

was watching the new micthesnare video about midnights and this comment, i think, is a really interesting perspective on it, but also articulates why the album (and 10 min all too well) didn’t fully work for me:
i just don’t think i care about her looking back on her life if she’s just going to retread the same sort of musicality while she does it. i do actually want to hear her mature perspective on what she’s been through (would’ve could’ve should’ve is one of the best songs on midnights for this very reason). but it doesn’t feel like a new, mature take, if her music isn’t maturing also, and a lot of the musicality on midnights just felt like reputation/lover b-sides to me. i think she’s still a bit hesitant about showing her uglier, more honest emotions in her lyrics without, like, adding a caveat or a shield to remind us that she’s likeable and a decent person, (which is her right, whatever), but it keeps that new perspective from being interesting. at least in the way she’s currently presenting it.
i think this comment is right, i just don’t think that her doing this has added anything to her artistry. as micthesnare points out in the video: it feels like a lateral step, rather than a forward one.
