~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
At thirty-nine weeks and two days pregnant, getting out of bed was Aelin's number one enemy. Hell, everything was her number one enemy, but especially trying to stand up after she'd been lying down, pregnancy pillow settled firmly behind her. She'd gone to her OB last week and been told, once again, that everything looked great and baby would probably be making her appearance within the next two weeks, and probably sooner rather than later.
She was so beyond ready to meet her daughter.
Rowan, after hearing that news, had cranked his protectiveness level to the absolute maximum.
There was hardly a day--no, hardly an hour--when he wasn't popping in to check on her, whether via text if he was at work or just sticking his head into the room where she was if he was home. And as much as Aelin loved her husband, sometimes it was a bit much. She did, however, completely agree with the idea of him cooking for her all the time, rather than allowing her to make eggs and pancakes and microwave meals whenever she was hungry.
Rowan came home from work just as she was slowly pushing herself off the sofa where she'd been napping, grumbling at her daughter as she caressed her baby bump.
"C'mon, mija, let Mama up? You're the one who's insisting I go pee, the least you could do is let me stand."
"Hey, Fireheart," he greeted her, setting down his laptop bag and going over to take her hands, helping her to her feet.
"I can stand by myself," she grumbled, but she leaned into him anyway. "Hi, buzzard."
He pressed a soft kiss to her lips. Another to her bump. "You gotta let Mama move, little one," he murmured.
Baby decided she liked her father's voice enough to kick Aelin in the ribs.
"Cálmate, mija," Aelin sighed, rubbing circles on her bump as she walked--waddled, at this stage everything was a waddle--to the bathroom, Rowan's soft laugh echoing in her ears. She emerged to the sound of pans clattering in the kitchen, clear signs of Rowan beginning to cook dinner, so she headed slowly down the hall until she came to the kitchen.
And stopped in her tracks, guffaws bubbling up and out of her. "Oh my fucking gods," she wheezed, bracing her hands on her knees. "Not again, Ro."
He flashed her a wicked smirk. "Anything to make you laugh, my love." Rowan was wearing the t-shirt she'd given him as a first anniversary joke present, the soft gray material featuring two bright red arrows, one pointed up and the other pointed down, with the words "TWO-SEATER" emblazoned in bold type on the fabric.
"Well, you've certainly succeeded in that," Aelin cackled, wiping her eyes with the back of her hand.
He winked rakishly. "Fancy going for a spin later, love?"
She snorted. "Nothing fancy about what I plan to do with you, buzzard."
"In that case," Rowan purred, "I'll make sure you ride in both seats."
Aelin wheezed with a fresh round of laughter, bending down to brace her hands atop her thighs as she cackled. "Oh gods," she groaned, collecting herself. "Babe, you made me pee myself, you can't keep making your full-term pregnant wife laugh so hard." She winced. "Ouch, mija! That one hurt!"
Her husband, bless him, walked around behind her, murmuring to their daughter, and locked his arms around Aelin's hips, below her bump, lifting slightly. "Here," he said quietly. "I've heard this helps with the aching.”
She leaned into his chest, sighing heavily at the pure euphoria of having someone else hold up her baby bump. “’S’wonderful,” she mumbled, closing her eyes, relaxing into his arms as he supported her.
He’d just released her bump when she scrunched up her eyes again, hissing softly.
Rowan was instantly in front of her, fingertips beneath her chin, asking her a flurry of questions that she could barely make out.
“Slow down, buzzard,” she teased.
He took a deep breath. “Are you all right? Why did you look like you were hurt?”
Aelin brushed her thumb affectionately across his cheek. “Baby’s just shifting herself around in there, love. Nothing to worry--why are you looking at my pants like that?”
“Uhh...” He gestured vaguely at her front. “There’s a...there’s a wet patch?”
“Ro,” she chuckled. “I told you already, you made me laugh so hard I peed myself a little. Bladder control is zero with your daughter sitting atop it.” She kissed his jaw and headed off to the bathroom to take care of herself.
And stopped short as she was coming back out to the kitchen, a fresh jolt of something more painful than a typical kick shooting through her abdomen.
Rowan ducked his head into the hallway, his eyes widening with concern. “Fireheart!” He rushed to her side. “Are you all right?”
“I--” She breathed slowly. “That wasn’t a kick, Ro.”
“Shit,” he whispered, latching onto her meaning. “Are we--”
“Yeah.” Aelin grinned, masking the flicker of apprehension in her eyes. “It’s baby time, buzzard.”
“Shit!” he swore again, raking his hands through his hair so it stood on end like it had been shot through with electricity. “Okay okay okay we need the hospital bag and the backpack and the carseat and oh gods--”
Aelin cut him off. “Babe.” She yanked him back around to face her, pressing her hands into his shoulders. “Calm the fuck down. We have plenty of time.”
“How are you the calm one?” Rowan grumbled.
She smirked. “I’ve been trained for this.” She kissed him softly. “The hospital bag is right by our door, love. Along with the backpack. And we put her carseat into the car two weeks ago.”
“Right,” he murmured. “Right, yeah, we did all of that.”
She chuckled, stepping into her slides as he hurried off to get the bags. “Ready?” she asked when he returned inside, their things secured in the car.
“Ready,” he murmured, kissing her again. “Let’s go have a baby.”
~
Nineteen hours later, Aelin cradled a tiny, wailing bundle to her chest, tears streaking her sweaty cheeks as she gazed down at her daughter, the perfect baby girl she’d brought into the world. Beside her, Rowan sank into the chair placed at her bedside, like he physically could not support himself anymore.
“She’s perfect,” he whispered, his voice thick with tears.
“She is,” Aelin breathed. “She really is.”
Baby’s green eyes blinked sleepily up at hers as the tiny girl calmed, recognizing her mother’s skin against hers.
“Hi, mija,” Aelin whispered, her voice cracking. “I love you so much.”
“We love you so much,” Rowan echoed, carefully sliding his arms around Aelin to cup their daughter’s small, bundled-up body.
“Would you like to introduce her?” the L&D nurse asked softly, grinning broadly at the new parents.
Though perhaps she was just grinning at Rowan’s shirt, like so many of the staff had been since he walked into the hospital with his laboring wife.
Rowan and Aelin shared a small, secret smile.
“Alanna Evalin Whitethorn.” Aelin pronounced the words carefully, the name she and Rowan had chosen and kept secret for so long now revealed to the world.
“Beautiful,” the nurse smiled. “All right, Aelin, let’s get you to your room, yes?”
“Please,” Aelin chuckled. “Poor Ro here needs to lie down.”
After helping baby Alanna latch to Aelin for the first time and successfully feed, the nurse got mama into a wheelchair, the little one snuggled into her father’s arms, and took them off to their room, got them settled, and ran through a list of instructions. And then smiled broadly and let them know they could have visitors until eight o’clock. Rowan left with the nurse, heading downstairs to the lobby to collect the family that had gathered there, after he’d settled Alanna back into Aelin’s arms, of course.
Barely ten minutes later, he knocked at the door. And the massive, elated grins of both sets of parents followed him into the room, all four newly minted grandparents beaming and crying at the sight of their first grandchild. Aelin beamed and introduced Alanna to her grandparents, crying right along with them as they cooed and cuddled the newborn.
Rhoe managed to make it all of twenty minutes before he really caught sight of his son-in-law’s shirt.
He nearly flung Evalin’s purse, which he was holding, across the room. “Please tell me you didn’t come to the hospital wearing that thing,” he groaned.
Rowan was silent.
“Gods, boy.” Rhoe shook his head, hiding the mirth in his face. “The poor nurses.”
“Oh, they loved Ro’s shirt, Dad,” Aelin snickered, winking wickedly.
“I’m sure they did,” Enna, Rowan’s mother, snickered, throwing her son a sly grin. “Loved it even more when he took that shirt off for skin-to-skin, I’ll bet.”
“Mom!” Rowan’s ears went crimson.
“I’ll take that as a yes.” Enna winked, dropped a last kiss on baby Lana’s head, and took her leave with the rest of the grandparents.
“I’m never hearing the end of this,” Rowan groaned, dropping onto the bed by Aelin’s side and burying his face in his hands.
With their baby girl settled into her crib, Aelin stroked her hand up her husband’s back. “You’re my favorite two-seater, buzzard.”
Despite himself, he broke into laughter. “I love you, Fireheart.”
“Love you more,” she hummed contentedly, leaning into his side and linking her fingers with his as they drank in the sight of their daughter, their Lana, sleeping peacefully in her crib.
Their perfect little girl.
SERIES MASTERLIST | MASTERLIST
A few days had passed since the movie night Sam and YN had and they had been spending more time with each other more than ever. But they still hadn’t told the other how they felt, even with all the flirting and with Sam having a feeling that YN felt the same ways. Which was really Ororo and Bucky telling him to get his head out of his behind and talk to her already because they know for a fact she feels the same way. But it didn’t help that Sharon was still trying to set YN up on a blind date.
But besides all of that they two were inseparable, like right now the two of them were cooking dinner together, while listening to music. Sam was currently cutting up a few ingredients while YN basically screamed the lyrics to ‘When Doves Cry’ By Prince while dancing against Sam.
He shook his head chuckling at her antics, loving how carefree she was around him. It was one of his favorite things to see her in her element just being herself, having fun knowing he would do the same. He stopped cutting up the garlic for their pasta dish watching her continue to move around the kitchen getting things together while signing into a wooden spoon. Being the quick thinker that Sam is he decides to take out his phone recording her antics, smiling at how adorable she was being.
It went on as the Candy’ by Cameo came on getting into her grove she did a spin, and when she stopped she saw him recording her. Her face feel as he feel into laughter stopping the recording deciding it was best to run. She chased after him offended that he would do such a thing.
“Sam, get back here!” She screamed turning a corner a little bit too sharp almost falling over.
“Gotta be quicker than that babe!” He teased rounding the couch.
“Fuck you Wilson.”
“Don’t threaten me with a good time baby!” Stopping in her tracks YN pretending to clutch her pearls.
“Boy, like you could handle me. Anyway, are you going over to Bucky and Steve’s for game night tomorrow or not?”
“Yeah, I thought that we could ride together after work? I’d drop you off and pick you up, is that cool?”
YN nodded agreeing making her way into the kitchen to finish cooking. “And I swear Sam f I see that video anywhere but in your phone. I promise you; you’ll have hell to pay.” YN turned around to glare at him.
In return he smirked pulling her into a side hug. “Once, again baby girl don’t threaten me with a good time. You keep this up and you’re gonna have hell to pay.”
YN could feel the heat creep up her neck and bloom into her chest as she thought about the double meaning Sam was talking about. And honestly she wouldn’t mind finding out what he was talking about.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
YN sighed finally happy to be done with work for the day, ready to let loose and chill out with her friends. She made her out of her job taking off her work lanyard looking around for Sam’s car, she smiled seeing him leaning on his car waiting for her. As she made her way over to him her coworker yelled for her to have a good weekend with her man. And before YN could correct her Sam thanked her coworker waving at her while YN continued her way to her car.
“You know everywhere we go; people think we date, and you never correct them.”
“Okay, and why would I. We look good together its that simple, now get in I don’t wanna hear Ro’s mouth about being late.” Sam stated opening the car door for her, she smiled at him as a way to say thank you.
The ride to Bucky and Steve’s condo went by pretty quickly with the two of them talking about how their days went. What they’re plans were for the weekend, and who would most likely get drunk the quickest out of their group of friends. But of course, when they arrive making their way into the condo, the shit talking starts almost immediately.
“Well, if it isn’t our favorite almost couple.” Bucky yelled making his way over to the two giving them hug, YN gave him a tight smile hugging him back before making her way over to Ororo.
The two greeted each other with hugs and start making the drinks for the night’s festivities. “So, I haven’t seen you since last Friday, which is unusual since we almost always have lunch on Wednesdays.”
YN winced knowing she was gonna have to deal with the teasing that would come with telling her why she had missed their weekly lunch. “Well, Sam had swung by my job and brought me lunch, so we ate in my office and just chilled. Sorry, I forgot to tell you.”
A smirk appeared across Ororo’s face, she turned towards YN waiting for her to give more information on how everything had gone. “I mean I’m not mad that you ditched me for you man, I’m just slightly pissed off that your ass still hasn’t told him. It’s obvious he likes your ass, you’re just to fucking stubborn or oblivious to notice it babe.”
YN smacked her lips, rolling her eyes at her friends’ statement. “Sure, he does but that’s beside the point.”
Ororo put her hand up stopping her friend from continuing. “Look, I don’t know why you won’t tell him, but honestly why do you think he wouldn’t like you. I mean you’re literally his type, down to the t. If you don’t believe me, go on the date with the guy Sharon’s trying to hook you up with and just pay attention to how Sam acts. It’ll say everything neither of you are, also he flirts with you like almost every time he opens his mouth. That man is whipped.” Ororo finished giving YN a kiss on the cheek taking the drinks out to the living room where everybody but Sharon was.
YN stood in the kitchen for a moment thinking over everything that was just said to her. She notices Sam had been flirting with her more, but then again she always found an excuse to write it off as him playing but maybe he actually could have feelings for her. And to be honest she was anxious of the idea that he could return feelings for her.
While YN was in the kitchen mulling over her feelings and Sam’s potential feelings Ororo was seated net to Bucky having a conversation concerning their two oblivious friends.
“So, do you think they’ve said anything to one another yet?” He questioned taking a sip of his drink. This question got Bucky a side-eye before Ro took a deep breathe wonder an ‘I fucking wish’ before explaining to him what the dilemma was.
“Not at all, they’re both too busy pondering over what if, to actually open their eyes to see how they act towards each other.”
“For them to be so smart and emotionally intelligent within themselves, they sure as fuck lack it when it comes to other.” Ororo nearly chocked on her drink not really expecting that comeback from bucky. The two looked at each other for a beat before falling into laughter.
Soon, enough YN and Sam walked into the living area together, with Sam arm slung over her shoulder. Bucky and Ro shared a look of annoyance yet interest over how these two just don’t see that their basically a couple already. Deciding to change the conversation the five of them started to talk about a few things that had happened within the week on not seeing each other.
Soon enough Ro was going off about how annoying her coworkers were and how whenever they got into something dumb they wanted her to help them get tout of it. While she was going off about the people at her job, Bucky noticed Sharon and a guy he had never seen before coming into the living room. He got up giving her a hug and telling her what drinks they had in the kitchen to make herself at home.
“Thanks, and I hope its okay that I bought a friend with me this is Travis. And Travis this is Bucky, YN should he somewhere around here I’ll introduce you guys later.” Sharon explained before making her way into the kitchen to get a drink.
Before he can even process who Sharon brought with her Ororo was by his side, grabbing his arm pulling him away from the group a bit.
“That is the guy, Sharon wants to hook YN up with. I knew she said she wanted them to met but bringing him to a friend outing with Sam here. I didn’t think she was that damn bold.”
Bucky’s face turned in disbelief at the last bit of Ororo’s statement, Sharon for sure is that bold. And will always be that bold if she thinks something that might work she’s gonna see to it that it happens. And that’s what worried the two friends.
“You know shit could really go left tonight right? Like what if he tries to get with her tonight or even asks her on a date. Can you imagine how Sam would feel? Or even how YN would accept just because she thinks Sam is just flirting with her playfully.”
“There is nothing playful about he way Sam flirts or looks at her.” Bucky stated, thinking about the different way things could go tonight.
Honestly this whole situation was stressing him out as if it was his own relationship. As the two of them talked for a bit more, Bucky noticed Sharon making her way over to Yn with Travis introducing them. Bucky tapped Ro nodding towards the scene unfolding taking a sip of his beer.
“Yeah, Sam’s gonna have a heart attack.” Bucky snorted agreeing before going back into the living room.
“Alright! Let get game night started, what to play first?” Bucky yelled waiting for this night to be over with.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As the night continued the group had fun playing Cards Against Humanity, Uno, and a few other games. But during the festivities Sam kept a up a good front, to the naked eye but to Bucky, Steve and Ororo they could tell he was fuming and YN was also pissed that Sharon had put her in this situation. One for not telling her that she was bring the guy she wanted to set her up with, and two for doing it when Sam is a round knowing how she feels about him.
She honestly couldn’t wait to go home and relax for the weekend. She loves her friends, but they weren’t any fucking help either. For example, Travis had been sitting next to her for the whole night, just being friendly and chatting her up and when he asked her on a date. Steve decided to give him a few ideas of where she would like to go just to get a better idea of the type of person YN is. Never in her life has she wanted to smack the beard off of his face so much.
Which lead to YN giving him her number telling Travis that she would think about it and that her schedule is pretty busy at the moment. While talking to him she noticed Sam staring at them. Holding his stare for a moment, YN gave him a smile before turning back to talk to Travis.
This whole night was going in ways either of them expected, but all Sam knew is he had to act on his feelings and fast. Which if he would’ve listened to Bucky and Steve none of this would be happening.
“Our First Holiday”
The wonderful @obsessionprofessional requested a fic where the reader celebrates Hanukkah with Rafael. Yes, I know Hanukkah is over...but better late than never, amiright? 🤷🏻‍♀️ ❤️ Also I’m Catholic and Latina, in my book the holidays are in full swing until Three Kings’ Day (I’m milking this, work with me😉).
Tumblr media
You laid on the couch with your feet propped up on Rafael’s lap, your body melting into the cushions. The light emitted from the TV cast a glow across the darkened living room. Half-empty Chinese takeout cartons littered the coffee table. It was the perfect night in, a rarity as of late, due to yours and Rafael’s hectic work schedules.
You flipped through the channels, settling on a cheesy holiday movie. Just when the big city heroine meets the small town hunky mailman, your phone began to buzz. You groaned and covered your head with the pillow. “If that’s the hospital, tell them I’m not here.”
Rafael laughed and picked up your phone from the table. “It’s your mom,” he said, checking the screen.
“That’s even worse,” you whined. “I have to tell her that we can’t make it for Hanukkah. I’ve been stalling, trying to avoid her Jewish guilt trip.”
“Your mom should meet up with my mom. She’s the queen of Catholic guilt. Together they could rule the world.” He pulled the pillow from your face and waved the still buzzing phone at you.” I don’t think you can avoid it anymore, mi amor.”
You sighed in defeat and took the phone from Rafael. After a lengthy conversation, including several not so subtle hints about getting married, (“A spring wedding would be absolutely beautiful.”) and having babies (“I just want to hear the pitter-patter of tiny feet before I die.”), you finally hung up with your mom. Tossing the phone on the coffee table, you flopped back down on the couch.
“How’d it go?” Rafael asked.
You shrugged. “Not as bad as I thought it would be. She understands that I have to be at the hospital. It’s the holidays, a lot of household accidents this time of year,” you said, nudging him with your foot.
You went back to watching the movie while Rafael began to massage the soles of your feet. He glanced your way, noticing a slight change to your demeanor. There was a sadness to your expression that you tried to mask. “Are you ok?”
“I guess I’m kinda bummed about not being with my family for Hanukkah. I mean, they drive me absolutely crazy. Believe me I’ve spent many a Hanukkah hiding in the bathroom, drinking scotch out of a flask.” Rafael snorted a laugh at the image of you hiding out in the tub while nursing a drink. “But this year is different. It’s our first time celebrating the holidays together.” You sat up and took his face in your hands, squishing his cheeks between your palms. “I just wanted to show off my sexy brilliant Cuban lawyer boyfriend to my bubbe.”
“Does your bubbe also smush faces?” He asked through pursed lips.
You giggled and let go of his face. “No, she’s a cheek pincher.”
Rafael pulled you onto his lap, planting a soft kiss to your lips. “I know things at work are crazy right now, but I promise we’ll see your family soon. I’ll even drink in the bathroom with you,” he teased.
“It is a rite of passage,” you replied. “Ok, let’s finish this movie. I have to know if the girl ends up with the hot mailman in the town that perpetually celebrates Christmas or if she’ll go back to her cold meaningless existence back in the city.”
Rafael rolled his eyes. “Oh yeah, I’m on the edge of my seat.”
You playfully elbowed him in the rib cage before resting your head on his shoulder. Wrapping an arm around you, he kissed the crown of your head as you both focused on the TV screen.
*****
Later on that night, Rafael tossed and turned in bed while you were sleeping peacefully beside him. He stared up at the ceiling, listening to the sounds of the city outside when he felt you stir beside him.
 “CBC, BMP, and LFTs were negative,” you mumbled in your sleep.
He grinned and gently moved a strand of hair away from your face. Due to being short-staffed at the hospital, you had been bending over backwards, taking double and sometimes even triple shifts. You were wearing yourself ragged. It broke Rafael’s heart to see you like this, but he understood how important your work was. Just like he was dedicated to his cases, you were dedicated to your patients.
Rafael didn’t think he believed in love at first sight, that is until he bumped into you while picking up his mail. You were new to the building, having just moved back to New York from volunteering with Doctors Without Borders.
After your initial encounter, he thought of every excuse in the book to “accidentally” bump into you— the mysterious woman in 27G. Rafael was sure you thought he was borderline diabetic based on how many cups of sugar he borrowed.
After months of flirty banter in the elevator or passing each other in the hallway, he finally worked up the courage to ask you out for a cup of coffee. Coffee quickly morphed into dating and a year later, you and Rafael were living together.
As he watched you sleep, an idea came to him. Grabbing his phone from the nightstand, he quickly and quietly sent two emails, one to Carmen and one to your mother before turning his phone off and settling back into bed. If you couldn’t come home for Hanukkah, then Rafael was going to bring Hanukkah home to you.
*****
You were a zombie dressed in scrubs, trudging towards your apartment. It had been a rough day at the hospital. All you wanted was to strip, have a long hot bath, and collapse into bed. Fate; however, had different plans for you.
The minute you opened the door, you were greeted with the smell of burning oil. You followed the smell into the kitchen and gasped. Pots and pans covered the stove; food scraps and various utensils littered the counter. You could still see smoke dissipating in the air.
The sounds of Rafael muttering curses distracted you from the disaster in the kitchen. You whipped your head around to find him wrestling a bush in the living room as he struggled to wrap blue and white lights around it. In the battle between man and plant, it looked like the plant was winning.
“What the hell is going on here?!” You exclaimed.
Rafael froze, dropping the strand of lights in his hands. “Hi, cariño,” he said with a sheepish expression. “I wasn’t expecting you home until later.”
“Well would you care to explain why you’re fighting a ficus or why it looks like a cyclone has run through our kitchen?” You crossed your arms and arched your brow, giving him a stern look. Rafael suddenly felt like a kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar.
“It’s actually a Hanukkah bush,” he replied, kicking the plant out of the way.
“A Hanukkah bush?” You repeated.
He nodded, rubbing the back of his neck. “I also tried to make latkes. I asked your mom for the recipe, but then Liv called me and I got distracted. Next thing I know the kitchen is up in flames and I have burnt potato pancakes.” He took a step towards you, nearly tripping on the strand of lights. “It was supposed to be a surprise. I know you were upset about not spending Hanukkah with your family.”
Your face softened, noticing several dreidels, chocolate gelt, and a shiny gold menorah on the coffee table. You collapsed onto the sofa, overwhelmed by what Rafael had done. A lump formed in your throat as you took one of the dreidels in your hand. Memories came flooding back of being at your grandparents’ house during Hanukkah; lighting the menorah, stuffing your face full of sufganiyot and latkes
“Carmen picked those up for me during her lunch break,” he said, watching you spin a dreidel on the coffee table.
“You mean you did all this for me?”
“Of course.” He sat down next to you and took your hand in his. “Like you said last night, it’s our first time spending the holidays together. I want this to be special. Te quiero mucho.”
“I love you too.” You kissed Rafael and pressed your forehead against his.
“So what do you say, wanna celebrate Hanukkah with your Gentile boyfriend?” He asked with a smirk.
A giggle escaped your lips. “Absolutely. Let me shower and change, then we can tackle those latkes together.” You wrapped your arms around him. “Thank you for everything,” you whispered, kissing his cheek before heading down the hall to your bedroom.
Rafael stood up, staring down the Hanukkah bush, more determined than ever to decorate the God-forsaken ficus.
*****
You and Rafael may have been busy with work, but that didn’t stop you from finding your own ways to celebrate Hanukkah over the next several days. Not having the time to go out and buy gifts, you both would find other thoughtful ways to show that you cared for each other. Whether it was coming home to find he had ordered takeout from your favorite Chinese restaurant or leaving little love notes for Rafael in his suit pocket before he left for the office. You created your own traditions.
On one of your rare days off, you even fried up some sufganiyot and brought them to the precinct for Rafael and the rest of the SVU squad. “Feel free to make these all year-round,” Fin joked as he took a bite into his second jelly-filled donut.
Every night, no matter the time, you both would sit in the living room and light the menorah. It was Rafael’s favorite part of Hanukkah. He was mesmerized, watching the flames from the candles illuminate your face as you repeated the Hanukkah blessings spoken by generations before.
Rafael grew up Catholic and would occasionally attend church with his mother on Easter and Christmas, but he was not a religious man. And yet, witnessing the reverence you had for your faith and for your history, made him fall in love with you even more. It made him think more about the future; in particular, a future with you.
*****
On the eighth and final day of Hanukkah, you had hoped to get home early. Unfortunately, there was an emergency and you had to stay later at the hospital than usual. Between checking on patients, you snuck into the break room to call Rafael. You fidgeted with the hair band on your wrist while the phone rang, eventually the call went straight to voicemail.
“Hello, you’ve reached the voicemail of Rafael Barba. Please leave a detailed message and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.”
“Hi, babe. Looks like I’m gonna be here a few more hours. You better start dinner without me. There’s leftovers in the—”
Before you could finish your message, your name was called over the PA system. “Dr. Y/L/N, please report to the nurses’ station. Dr. Y/L/N, please report to the nurses’ station.”
You huffed out a sigh, running your fingers through your hair. “They’re paging me. I gotta go. I’ll be home as soon as I can. Love you.”
You hung up your cell and headed straight for the nurses’ station. Turning the corner, you stopped in your tracks, your sneakers squeaking against the linoleum floor. To your surprise there was Rafael with a big bouquet of red roses in his arms; with him were your mom, his mom, and the rest of your family, even your Great-Aunt Edna. All of them stood there with big smiles plastered on their faces.
“Hi, mi amor.” Rafael awkwardly waved. His hands were shaking slightly and his cheeks were bright pink. You could tell he was nervous.
You were at a loss for words, glancing around at everyone. The nurse who had been paging you caught your eye and gave you a sly wink. “Raf...what’s going on?” You finally managed to squeak out.
He laid the flowers on the counter and took a step towards you. “Remember when I told you I asked your mom for her latke recipe?”
“Uh-huh.”
“Well, I may have left out the minor detail where I also asked her and your family to come for a visit, so they could watch me do this.” He audibly gulped and slowly got down on one knee, taking out of his pocket a small velvet box.
“Oh my God,” you breathed.
“Y/N, I’ll be honest. I never thought this would happen for me. I never thought I would find someone or fall in love, but then I met you. You transformed my life. You’re the first person I want to see in the morning and the last person I want to be with before I fall asleep. You’re the light of my life. The love of my life and I promise to cherish every day that I have with you.”
A tiny whimper escaped your lips, tears streaming down your face as he continued, his own eyes glossy with tears. “When I talked to your family and asked for their blessing, they told me there was a name for what we are— basherts. Y/N, you’re my soulmate. There’s no one else I want by my side. No one else I want to spend my life with. I want to spend forever with you and I want our forever to start now.” Rafael opened the box to reveal an antique white gold engagement ring. His grandmother’s engagement ring. “Y/N Y/L/N, would you make me the happiest man on Earth and marry me?”
“Yes!” You exclaimed and wrapped your arms around him, crying into the crook of his neck.
Rafael barely had time to place the ring on your finger and kiss you before your family bombarded you both with hugs and well-wishes. You managed to escape and stepped off to the side while everyone else talked amongst themselves.
“I wasn’t lying about my bubbe,” you giggled and wiped her lipstick smudge off of Rafael.
“Nope, you weren’t. I think I’m finally getting the feeling back in my face.” He massaged his cheeks, glancing over to where your moms were having a lively discussion about your wedding. “Looks like our mothers are getting along.”
You followed Rafael’s gaze, overhearing their conversation. “A spring wedding would be beautiful. Maybe in May?” Your mom suggested.
“Oh I agree,” Lucia chimed in. “I bet if we call now, we can see if Father Alvarez and Rabbi Goldman are available. I’m sure they won’t mind doing the ceremony together.”
“Kindred spirits.” You snorted a laugh before looking down at your engagement ring with a sad smile.”
The expression on your face was not lost on Rafael. “Is something wrong?”
You shook your head. “Nothing. It’s silly.”
He gently grabbed your chin, tilting your head up to meet his gaze. “Try me.”
“You’ve done so much for me. Surprising me with Hanukkah bushes and latkes and engagement rings. I feel as if I haven’t done anything for you.” You groaned and pinched the bridge of your nose. “I even forgot to get you a Christmas gift.”
“Hey,” he cooed and cupped your face, stroking your cheek with his thumb. “You gave me the greatest gift I’ve ever gotten.”
You furrowed your brow in confusion, staring into his green eyes. “What gift was that?”
“You said, yes.” He smiled and pulled you into his embrace, kissing you with such fierce passion that the staff and even some of your family whooped and cheered.
For years to come, you and Rafael would celebrate Christmas and Hanukkah, passing down the traditions to your own children. But both of you would agree that the first holiday you celebrated as a couple was by far the best one.
Arm Yourself, A Storm Is Coming
Word Count: 2,572
Warning(s): Kidnapping/abduction, injuries, snakes (well, snake people), mention of blood, and a lot of crying from both me and the characters,
Author’s Note: Out of nowhere this turned so freaking sappy and I don’t know where it came from. My writing at some parts of the beginning isn’t my best, but push through it, I promise it’s worth it. The title is taken from Phoenix by League of Legends. You should pay attention to the title :)
As soon as the words were out of Dennis’s scarred lips Virgil was walking in the direction of his cabin, for once standing at his full height. He heard hurried footsteps straining to keep up with his long strides, so he assumed it was Patton. He didn’t pause to wait for him though and slammed his cabin door open once he reached it. He didn’t even stop to consider what he might need before he’d grabbed Tempest and strapped his shield to his arm. His brain was stuck on this one-track road of save Roman. He startled when a gloved hand grabbed his arm and spun him around.
He looked down at Patton, who was looking right back at him with some sort of expression that Virgil couldn’t read, almost like Patton himself didn’t know how he was feeling. Virgil could understand that, especially at that moment. He sighed and gently removed Patton’s hand from his arm. He didn’t want to worry the son of Hebe any more, but all he could think about was that the longer it was until they got to Roman, the less likely it was that he...they just had to find him. Fast.
“Look, Pat,” Virgil sighed. “I’m sorry I snapped at Dennis, okay, I really am. But I can’t let you stop me. I am going to get Roman back.”
“I’m not trying to stop you,” Patton scoffed. “Of course we have to get him back.”
“Then what are you doing?”
“You need to slow down. Kiddo you’re completely manic right now, you can’t go into a fight like this.”
“No, we can’t waste any more time Patton!”
“It’s not a waste of time to make sure we all get out of this instead of none of us!”
“‘We’?”
“You didn’t think we were going to let you go by yourself, did you?”
“No, it’s just..”
“You didn’t want us to.”
Virgil was about to contradict him but the glare on Patton’s face stopped any form of protest. The shorter boy crossed his arms and didn’t look away, practically daring Virgil to argue. The worst part was, he was right. Virgil had wanted to go alone or had at least expected to. He just...he didn’t want to risk losing anyone else. Patton had always been a little too good at reading him, as his face quickly softened.
“Virge,” He said. “Let us help you.”
“Fine.” Virgil knew when to admit defeat. “But we can’t take too long Patton, I mean it.”
Patton didn’t respond to that, instead leading the way back to the Big House. Virgil was only half a step behind. They stepped up onto the porch only to find Logan already waiting for them, already equipped with his daggers and holding Patton’s medkit and slingshot in his hands. How did he DO that? Freaking Athena kids. Patton quickly explained that it would just be the three of them, which kind of irritated Virgil but still made sense. Three was the ideal number for a quest anyway. Thomas couldn’t go with them since he had such an important role at camp, Emile wasn’t a demigod, and Remy had to stay with Emile in case the Oracle decided to pay them a visit. They were the only other people he really trusted to have his back so he supposed he would rather it be just the three of them than a bunch of people he didn’t trust.
Logan showed them to one of the Camp vans that was already waiting for them on the road. Logan was the only one with a mortal driver’s license, so he climbed into the driver’s seat with Virgil and Patton in the backseat. The entire drive there Virgil couldn’t stop fidgeting in his seat, his eyes trained on the passing scenery. He just couldn’t stop thinking about ‘what if’. What if they were too late, what if they couldn’t get to Roman, what if Remus didn’t actually have him, what if Dennis had led them into a trap, what if he’d lied to them, what if, what if, what if? Virgil just couldn’t lose Roman, not now, not when this thing was still new and fresh and warm and just so so amazing. He’d realized it earlier, but he was in love with Roman. If you had told his fourteen-year-old self that one day he’d be ready to say ‘I love you’ to Roman Prince of all people, he probably would have punched you in the nose. But here he was.
The address Dennis had given them was a house in the middle of a more-rundown neighborhood, which kind of surprised Virgil. He’d almost been expecting a full-on supervillain lair, complete with an abandoned warehouse. The house didn’t even look deserted.
“Logan, you sure this is the place?” Virgil asked, watching the house through the van window. Logan had parked the van a couple of blocks away to give them the chance to case the property, but the only danger Virgil could spot was a few mortals in the house-wait, those mortals had snake legs. “Nevermind.”
“You see them too?” Patton said.
“Scythian Dracanae,” Logan cursed, running a hand through his hair.
“Dracanae aren’t too bad,” Virgil shrugged. “We can take them.”
“On their own, they are fairly easy,” Logan agreed. “But I can nearly guarantee there is a large number within the house and blocking our way to Roman.”
“Okay,” Virgil said slowly. “So, Mister Strategist, what do we do?”
“Give me a moment,” Logan murmured. He spent a few more minutes watching the house windows, though Virgil wasn’t entirely sure what he was looking for. Whatever it was he apparently found it as he nodded in satisfaction. “Virgil, you have had experience living in a suburban area, correct?”
“Uh, yes?” Virgil answered, though it sounded more like a question. “Why?”
“Would you say it was likely for this type of house to have a cellar or basement?”
“Probably.” Virgil shrugged before it dawned on him. “Oh, you think Roman is down there.”
“I do, and I have a plan.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Virgil crouched in the bushes behind the house, trying to keep track of the Dracanae and their positions. He was also trying to prepare himself for whatever he might find in that basement but quickly shoved the thought into one of the dark and dusty corners of his mind. Fight now, worry later. He stayed low, waiting for Patton’s signal. Well, he didn’t know if he’d call it a signal exactly. Everything was quiet until there was the sound of glass breaking followed by a screech and loud hissing from the front of the house. He forced himself to hold back, to not move until there was a pause in shadows passing the kitchen and the sounds of fighting were prevalent. Logan and Patton’s diversion had started.
Still, Virgil crept forward. As much as he wanted to sprint into the basement and drag Roman out of there, his part of the plan relied on him not being detected. It felt as though it took years and all the self-control he had, but son Virgil was at what he assumed was the basement door. He opened and closed it behind him as quietly as he could, not wanting to alert anymore Dracanae that may be down there. Gods, it was pitch black down there. Virgil didn’t risk turning on a light so as to not alert anyone to his presence. He raised his shield as he slowly descended the stairs, step by step. The silence, as opposed to the battle raging upstairs, was excruciating and Virgil wanted nothing more than to just shout Roman’s name into the darkness. He bit his lip to resist the urge, but he hadn’t heard any sign of anything moving down here, which admittedly worried him a bit.
“Roman?” Virgil called out, his voice barely above a whisper.
He got no response.
“Ro please, this isn’t funny,” Virgil pleaded, desperation in his voice now.
He waited a moment more and after still not getting a response decided screw stealth. Logan and Patton had the monsters upstairs occupied and if a few made their way to the basement Virgil could dispatch them easily. He ran his hand along the closest wall until his hand came across a light switch right about where he thought the stairs ended. He counted to three in his head and flipped the switch, immediately spinning around in a defensive stance with his shield in front of him and sword raised. He didn’t see any snake women but his eyes did fall upon a familiar figure slumped in a chair in the middle of the room.
“Roman,” Virgil breathed, dashing forward.
Roman was slumped in the rickety chair, his chin against his chest. Virgil couldn’t see his face but the auburn hair and freckles up and down his arms gave him away. His ankles were tied to the front legs of the chair with rope but his arms were bound behind him with Celestial Bronze chains, as expected. Virgil moved to the back of the chair and prayed to his father to sharpen his sword before raising it in the air. He really doubted this would work, mostly because it shouldn’t and Phobos very rarely if ever answered his children’s prayers, but Virgil did not have the time or the patience to try to pick the lock. He swung Tempest down, striking the chains and, to his surprise, slicing straight through them like they were nothing. Virgil just stood there blinking for a second. He silently thanked his father before remembering the situation at hand.
His sword clattered onto the concrete floor as Virgil once again rounded the chair. He managed to untie Roman’s ankles despite his shaking hands. He took his shield off so he could cradle Roman’s face in his palms gingerly like he was afraid his touch would shatter him. Now that he got a better look at him, Virgil could tell that Roman was definitely looking worse for wear. His camp shirt was in tatters, blood staining it in one or two spots. There was dried blood on Roman’s face and bruises all over his body, and his breathing was weak but he was alive.
“Roman?” Virgil begged, stroking his cheek with his thumb. “Come on baby, I need you to look at me. Don’t do this to me Roman, don’t do this to me again.”
A strangled half-sob clawed its way out of his throat as Roman still didn’t even stir. He was mostly fine, at least Virgil thought so, but he was no healer. What if he had like, internal bleeding or something Virgil couldn’t see because he didn’t know to look for it? His vision blurred through tears as all of the fear from the last few years slammed into him at once.
“Come on, beautiful.” Virgil’s voice was rough now with barely-contained cries, Roman’s vacant expression swimming before him. “You gotta wake up, I need you to come back to me. You have to be okay Roman, you have to. I still have so much I want to do and say and tell you and I-” Another choked sob escaped. “Please, just wake up!”
Virgil squeezed his eyes shut as hard as he could, as if that would block out everything wrong with this scenario, number one being Roman’s limp body in his arms. He heard a groan and his eyes flew open, watching Roman’s eyelids flutter. Once Roman realized someone was touching him his eyes wrenched themselves open wide and he began pushing away from Virgil in a blind panic. Virgil barely managed to hold on to his boyfriend, refusing to let him go again.
“Roman, baby it’s me, it’s me,” Virgil spoke reassurances over and over until he saw recognition behind Roman’s eyes followed behind a blossoming hope that made Virgil want to start crying all over again.
“W-wait,” Roman rasped, his voice rough and dry. “Virgil? You’re, you’re here?”
“It’s me, sweetheart,” Virgil nodded slowly, a watery smile finally finding its way onto his lips. “I’m here.”
Like the center of gravity had shifted, both boys fell into each other, hands grasping whatever they could find. Roman clung to Virgil like a drowning man would a breath of fresh air and Virgil wasn’t planning on loosening his grip anytime soon. Virgil was kneeling on concrete and Roman was still sitting in that chair, but damn it it was still the greatest hug Virgil had ever had. Virgil felt Roman tuck his face into the crook of Virgil’s neck and tears fall onto his skin and that was all it took for him to fall apart. He buried his face into Roman’s shoulder and just cried, ugly, rough, sobs that made his whole body shake and his hands cling tighter to the remains of Roman’s shirt. Gods, he had been so fucking scared and angry, so sure he was going to lose him. Every single emotion he’d pushed aside since that Iris Message dissipated seemed to hit him all at once and he just couldn’t handle it. Thankfully Roman didn’t push him away, instead reciprocating the tightness of the hug.
“I was so scared, Virgil,” Roman whispered into his neck. Virgil forced his sobbing to subside at least a bit so that he could hear what Roman was saying. “I thought I wasn’t going to see you again.”
“Me too.” Virgil pulled back just enough to remain in Roman’s arms but could still see his face. He lightly brushed away a tear on Roman’s cheek, trying to summon the same smile from earlier. “But I’m here now.”
“There’s something I need to tell you,” Roman practically blurted out. Virgil kept his mouth shut as Roman chewed on his bottom lip, not sure how to proceed. “This whole thing, it, it made me realize that, our lives are so unpredictable and dangerous all the time. I could lose you at any moment or the other way around and I…” Roman took a breath slowly. “I don’t want that to happen before I tell you that...I love you.”
Virgil inhaled sharply and Roman’s eyes fell to his knees, not looking at Virgil as he processed what Roman had just said. He loved him. Roman loved him. He couldn’t help the incredulous that bubbled out of him and made Roman look back up in confusion. Virgil cupped his face again and pulled his lips down to meet his in a passionate, almost desperate kiss but oh so sweet and loving that they both had to pull back because they were grinning too much.
“I love you too, Ro,” Virgil laughed again. Gods, this day was just a rollercoaster of emotions. “I love you so damn much that half the time I don’t know what to do with it. If I can help it, I'm going to say it to you every single day until you get sick of it or I can’t anymore.”
“I will never grow sick of it.” Roman’s hands came up to wrap around Virgil’s, his smile the most beautiful thing Virgil had ever seen. “And I get the feeling that neither will you.”
“I love you, Roman Prince.”
“I love you, Virgil Camden.”
“You’re right, I’ll never get tired of that. Now let’s get you out of the creepy hostage basement, shall we?”
“Please.”

Let me take you to a place, a place where nothing hurts you.
—A Flashback 2003—
She had never loved someone so deeply before in her life. She felt as though she couldn’t breath, couldn’t sleep, couldn’t eat without thinking about Roman Carlisle and how much he meant to her. Every moment they spent together, at home, at school, and any spare time that they had. And typically, that time was spent in many compromising positions... At the age of fourteen, Liv had experienced much more than most her age.
They had just started at Constance a few months back and Olivia was already the most popular girl in school. She ran with and turned into be the clique leader of a group of girls that followed her around everywhere. They were her best friends. Every day at lunch they would sit at the steps of the Met discussing the latest fashions, gossip, and all of the details of Olivia’s nights prior.
She was never without an evening plan, often sneaking out of her house to meet up with Roman. That was the best part about New York City, there was always a party or a club to go to. Roman was seventeen, which made it easy for him to get into places because of his older appearance but also because of who his father was.
Wren Carlisle brought business to these places, she didn’t know the intricate details of what Mr. Carlisle did but all she knew was that he was exceptionally well off and there were much more sordid underlying’s to the businesses he ran. His name was feared by most as everyone knew not to mess with Wren Carlisle and Carlisle Industries. It was one of those New York family secrets that everyone knew but never talked about.
From the outside, Carlisle Industries seemed to own many upper class restaurants and clubs. They were the most prestigious places in all of New York. Many of the Upper East Side high society types wanted to be seen at them, world class chefs aspired to work in them, and celebrities were turned away from them due to such high demand. But, behind the scenes, there was another world below the glitz and the glam of it all. A world that Olivia had found herself intertwined within.
Roman and Olivia arrived at the latest club for the night when Roman pulled her down the side of two buildings, a soft laugh leaving her red stained lips as she tripped along in her high heels that she had borrowed from one of her friends. He pinned her against the brick wall to meet his lips with her plush ones as they laughed together. Only for him to step back, his gaze wandering in both directions before he pulled a small bag from his jacket pocket. Small pills sitting in the bag that was gripped between his two fingers. A wicked smile took place upon his lips as he looked at her. She was sure a shocked expression was to be found across her baby doll features as she took in what he was offering to her.
“You wanna try it, baby? Come on, it could be fun.”
Roman looked at her with his seductive stare that he knew would make her buckle to what he wanted. She glanced around in concern of getting caught before she stepped up close to him to put her hand around the bag with a relieved laugh at covering the pills.
“Where did you get those?!”
Her tongue moved silkily across her plump lips to wet them, she suddenly felt her mouth dry out with the thought of a new experience. She didn’t want Roman to think she wasn’t cool by not doing this with him.
“My father, you know he has his... Other hobbies. You scared?”
She rolled her eyes at this to seem impartial at the idea of her being scared. But, in reality... She was terrified.
“No, I’m not scared. Give me one.”
His wicked smile only widened to his ears as he opened the pack to drop a single pill into his hand to place it between his teeth, he then leaned down with his hands finding either side of her face and brought his mouth to hers in a sweet kiss as she felt the small pill land into her mouth for her to swallow. She took a breath to steady herself before running a hand through her brunette curls as it fell long past her hips. She had always loved her long hair and knew Roman did too as his eyes watched her like he wanted to fuck her right there from the shared moment as he popped a pill into his own mouth.
Her gaze went back to the bag of pills still remaining before he returned it to his pocket.
“What about the rest of them, Ro?”
He lifted his shoulder in a shrug as he took her smaller hand into his much larger one to lead her back to the club entrance. She could hear the music thumping loudly now as her pulse quickened with excitement. Roman leaned down to whisper in her ear so she could hear him as they walked inside.
“We’re gonna make a little cash, baby.”
She looked up at him with sheer excitement now covering her features as he pulled her onto the dance floor, all thought of being scared or getting caught left her mind as she fell into the feeling. The haze and electricity running through her from the pulsing of the music and the heat in her veins as the drugs brought her to life. She had never felt so incredible as she brought her arms around Roman’s neck, her hips swaying with his as they danced amongst the crowd of people.
He left her their for a moment, whispering in her ear that he’d be right back but she barely heard him as she continued to move to the music, getting lost in the feeling of it. She only glanced up momentarily as she saw him exchanging the small bag of pills with another girl in the corner. She didn’t see what happened next as they became drowned out by the crowd and she honestly didn’t care in that moment.
—A Few Months Later—
Every morning was the same, Roman picked her up from home, filled her Hermès bag with small baggies to sell, he would kiss her on the cheek and tell her he’d see her after school where she’d give him her bag full of their Upper East Side classmates cash. He would then drive Olivia home to change before picking her up later and they’d do it all again at whatever party or club they ended up at that night.
Everyone knew where to get the best stuff and if they were smart, they’d be waiting staggered across the Met steps at lunch for her to drop the tiny bag into their hand as she passed without a second glance while they slipped the cash into her passing palm. But, if they were desperate, they’d find her in the halls of Constance or have to track her and Ro down later that night. It was clockwork.
Which is why Olivia was shocked when Roman didn’t take her straight home that day. Rather, they continued driving completely out of the City. She glanced over at him as they drove with a wide smile upon her pink lips as they went. She was naive in thinking he might be taking her for a getaway outside of the city, just the two of them.
Confusion filled her features as they pulled off onto a dirt road, a large industrial building at the end of it that she hadn’t seen before. There were no markings on the building to tell her where they were but she knew she was safe with Roman so she didn’t give it a second thought as he parked and came around to help her out to follow him inside.
“I just have to pick up some more of the goods, babe. Shouldn’t take too long and I thought you might want to check it out with me.”
He flashed a sweet smile at her as they went into the building and her insides melted. She would follow him anywhere. The building seemed quiet as they walked through the empty hallways, there was nothing on the walls, and no one around but Roman seemed to know where they were going as they wondered deeper into the quiet building.
As they rounded a corner, voices came raised in the echos of the halls and she could feel as Roman squeezed her hand within his to reassure her as they continued towards them. As they got closer, the words began to form that the deep voices were saying...But, she couldn’t make out who they were. Once they were close enough, Roman tugged her towards him as they stood just fair enough away to not be seen immediately.
“He needs to be taken care of. I don’t care what it takes or how you do it, get it done today.”
Olivia’s sculpted brows pulled inwards as she recognized the voice then as Wren Carlisle, Roman’s father and another man, much larger, that she had never seen before but was nodding in agreement to Mr. Carlisle’s words.
Just as the larger man was turning to leave, Roman’s father caught his eye down the hallway and turned towards them both standing there with what she knew was shock on their faces. She knew Wren Carlisle wasn’t a good man but she never realized he was this bad... Bad enough to be discussing murder... Is that what they were talking about? She had no idea but knew her head was spinning and her stomach turning at the thought.
She looked up to Roman with panic in her eyes as Wren made his way towards them, his veins bulging at his large neck as he moved with the graceful ease of a determined man. Once he was close enough, he grasped Roman by his collared uniform shirt, his hand dropping from Olivia’s as his father pinned him to the wall. His face was so close to Roman’s that he had to turn his head against the wall. His feet were lifted from the floor and Olivia had to bring her hands to her mouth to silence her scream as a chill ran down her spine with fear in that moment.
“Are you trying to fuck with me, boy? What do you think you’re doing here, uninvited and bringing your little girlfriend with you? Do you want to find her...”
That was all Olivia could hear as his voice became so deadly silent as he spoke into Roman’s ear. Ro’s gaze met Olivia’s and she saw as the blood drained from his beautiful features, his gaze going dark with fear and anger mixed within them as his fists clenched at his sides, his jaw tight. But, he said nothing. Simply listening as his father gave the threats she was sure he was giving of things that he would do to her for them being here today. Why hadn’t he just taken her home like he always did?
Finally, Wren let him go and his body was rigid against the wall as he turned to meet his fathers steely gaze with his own as he straightened. Roman was much larger for his age, pure lean muscle, long and tall with dark brown hair and icy blue eyes. They were so clear blue in that moment, like crystal that she knew this was the moment he had lost that last bit of childhood he might have been holding onto.
“You want to play with the men, boy? Is that it? Well, here’s your first assignment.”
Wren handed a folded piece of paper to Roman, which he took to look at. She could just barely see the edges of it from where she stood, still in shock at the event that so rapidly occurred. It was a picture, an older gentleman smiling in the middle with another person but she couldn’t make out that part of the photo.
Silently, Roman folded it back up and slid the photo into his back pocket. He looked back to his father, an image of him but slightly leaner than Roman with much less muscle, as Wren nodded to the photo.
“Make it look like an accident. The address is on the back.”
He clasped his son on the shoulder as if proud of him before he turned towards Olivia. He gave her a once over with a slight sneer to his lip as he did before he turned to join the other man who simply stood their watching the entire time. She had barely realized he was still there until they were leaving down the hallway and Liv was crashing into Roman in order to breath. She felt herself panting against him as white hot fear took over her body. But, his was solid as his breathing was completely even.
He took her by her hand and practically dragged her out of the building. It wasn’t until they were outside that she processed the water streaming down her cheeks. She was crying. How long had she been crying?
Roman helped her carefully back into the car as he walked around the vehicle, pulling the photo from his pocket to just briefly check the back of it for the address. But, Olivia could barely see clearly through the tears that continued to spill over as her hands shook in her lap.
They drove in silence for what felt like a lifetime as she finally found some calm, blinking away the tears she looked out at where they were. Confusion once again filled her but she didn’t dare look at Roman but rather outside. There were two men arguing on the street, one of them glancing back at a car as the other pointed towards it heatedly.
The man returned to the car and Roman restarted his car to follow after it. We were parked? When did we get here? Dread filled her as her chest felt heavy, her head whipped towards Roman as his knuckles became white on the steering wheel.
“Ro...?”
Nothing. He didn’t even twitch.
“Roman... Look at me. What are you doing?”
He took a turn as we went around a bend to come up in front of the car from the street. The car began to lurch with speed as Roman put his foot down on the peddle. Panic filled Olivia as she tucked her hair behind her ears, placing a palm on the dashboard to steady herself as she turned fully to face Roman.
“Roman! Stop! Slow down! Please, Roman. Please! Don’t do this! You can stop, we can leave New York! Please, Ro! Look at me!!”
She could hear herself screaming at him to stop, could hear herself crying as her voice shook with the fear she felt so deeply at her core. But, he wasn’t stopping. She didn’t think he could even hear her.
It was too late.
Roman’s SUV went colliding head first into the car from the street. She could barely remember what happened next as the car flipped in the air over the front of the SUV. Olivia’s head thrashed as she was catapulted with such force back into her seat but the SUV kept going with a loud thud. She heard the crashing behind her but barely processed any of it.
Her vision went black and the last thing she remembered was Roman’s white knuckles on the steering wheel.

Never Again
CH8.
You awake from an all night crying session with Levi. You look over to see Roman asleep your one week old son sleeping on his chest.
You and Roman had been up almost all night long with Levi.You and Roman tried to take turns but it seemed he only wanted his daddy.
You head downstairs to make coffee and breakfast.
"Good morning" Roman says in a raspy voice making you jump.
"Jeez, you scared me, Good morning" you smile
"Mmmm..I forgot how you wear minimal clothing in the morning" he smirks after checking you out.
"Sorry, I just really needed coffee after last night" you say realizing you were in panties and an oversized t- shirt that probably belonged to Roman at one point.
" Don't be sorry, I'm  enjoying the view, and if I wasn't there myself I wouldn't believe you just had a baby a week ago" he smiles walking up to you.
"Smooth but you still ain't getting laid" you laugh
"I can wait. As long as you keep using that pretty little mouth on me" he smirks slapping your ass.
"I'm gonna go throw some shorts on so i'm not in a t shirt and panties when Lulu comes down" you say.
" Hey, Y/n have dinner with me tonight..just the two of us. I'll see if mom will watch the kids"  he smiled taking your hand in his
" I can't tonight I'm meeting an old friend what about tomorrow night?" You ask playing with his fingers
"Yeah, tomorrow sounds great, now please go get dressed before I forget that whole 4 week rule" he laughs.
You put the finishing touches on your make up for tonight, you were only going to snag a bitch but shit you mind as well look good doing it.
You fixed your hair one last time.
" Damn Y/n, you look absolutely gorgeous!" Roman said as you came down stairs.
" Thank you" you smile.
"Who you going with looking that good?" He ask spinning your around
" an old friend, we're  probably gonna meet up with Becky and some girls for dinner" you say.
" Be safe, I'll see you later" he says kissing you lightly
" I will. Kiss my babies for me?" you ask
" OUR babies. And yes I will kiss them for you" he says
Once at the arena you tried to keep a low profile one: you didn't want to blow this by Kelsey knowing you were there. Two: you also didn't want Seth or someone to see you and tell Roman.
You met up with Sonya, Becky and Mandy backstage Mandy expressing how sorry she was about everything going on.
"I know she's lying, she's said on multiple occasions how she wanted Roman and would have him if it was that last thing she'd do but this , this is too far!" Mandy says
" I agree. I'm not happy with the situation but I know my husband that isn't his character." You say. " And honestly I just want what's best for the children involved all of them. With these accusations against him it affects him being around his children"
" Exactly" Sonya agrees.
Mandy sets her phone on record and heads to Kelsey's locker room.
" Hey babes" Mandy says
" Hi mamas, what's going on?" Kelsey's asks playing with Autumn.
" Not much just came to see this little princess" Mandy smiles " So I hear the rumor mill is going around and the latest is Mella says Autumn is Roman's baby" Mandy giggles.
Kelsey laughs " Word travels fast round here huh?"
"What do you mean? Is she Roman's?" Mandy's asks acting confused
"No, of course not. She's definitely Mike's but since he left I thought why not pin it on Roman since his wife thinks we already slept together being that she caught me kissing him" Kelsey laughs.
" Wow, So you didn't even have sex with Roman how does he think the baby is his then?" Mandy asks
"A false DNA test, I know a girl a the lab, Roman was so drunk he probably thinks we did but doesn't remember, but girl think of the support money ima get now" Kelsey says
"Kels that's low even for you boo" Mandy says
"No he turned me down, its payback. The best part is I told my lawyer Roman forced himself on me" she says
"Kelsey you didn't?!" Mandy says shocked
" I did girl, if I can't have him neither can that tramp Y/n" she says.
" hey I gotta match, but I'll be back" she says kissing Autumn
 When Mandy returns she plays the recording for you and sends it to you. Hearing Kelsey lie made your blood boil you walk in right out and head to her locker room. Becky and Sonya running after you trying to talk sense into.
"Y/n stop you just had Levi" Sonya says
Becky sees Jeff Hardy who you had been friends with for years being that your cousin was Lita.
"Jeff I need you to help with Y/n" Becky says
"What's going on" he asks
Becky explained the story to Jeff, he came after you.
"Y/n calm down, your gonna get Roman fired, and think about your kids" he says stepping in front of you
"Jeff, she tried to ruin my marriage, she's gone too far" you say
" I know I know but sweetie think this through" he says hugging you.Let's go somewhere and talk alright?"
You leave with Jeff telling him the whole story crying in frustration. Jeff hugged you tight
"Come on Y/n let me take you home" he says
Jeff drove you home. As he pulled up to your house you see Richard's car in front of your house.
"Thanks again Jeff, thanks for stepping in at the arena" you say hugging him.
"Anytime Y/n" he smile
You get to the door as Roman was opening it for Richard.
"Thanks again Rich, keep me posted" he says
"Absolutely Roman, we are gonna figure this mess out sorry for coming so late" Richard says
"Hey everything good" you say
"Hi Y/n yeah just trying to help our guy out here" Richard says
"When did  you get back?" Roman asks as Richard leaves
"Just now, what Rich have to say?" You ask
"Same old, So since when is Jeff one of the girls?" He asks
"What?" You ask
"Jeff he dropped you off right?" He asks
" Yeah what about it?" You ask.
" You said you were going with the girls" he says
"No, I said an old friend, and that's kind of what Jeff is" you smile at Roman's jealousy
"A friend who has always had a thing for you, and who you've been friends with benefits with" he says
"Roman that was a million years ago" you laugh
"Did you fuck him?" He asks
" Excuse me?" You nearly shout
" You heard me Y/n" he says
" I can't believe you'd even ask me that Roman!" You yell
" Why not huh? It happened before, why not now? Especially after what I've done why not" He says
" Umm. Maybe because I just had YOUR baby a week ago, or maybe because everytime I fucked Jeff before I wasn't married or maybe even because I love you Roman" you snap
"Well why else would you lie about being with Jeff?" He asked
" I didn't lie" you say
"Y/n did you do anything with Jeff tonight? He asked
"No, Roman I was actually at the house show saving your ass from the Kelsey situation, but glad to know what you honestly think of me asshole" you says slamming your phone down for him to hear the recording before going upstairs.
A little while went by before Roman brought himself up to apologize.He felt like a complete ass.
"Y/n I'm so sorry,I'm an ass I should have handled that way different" he says sitting on the edge of the bed
"Roman, Do you honestly think I would sleep with someone just to spite you?" You ask
" No, of course not" he says
"Roman, I swear I have never slept with Jeff since you and I have known each other" you say
"I know baby I do, but Y/n you could have just told me what was going on," he says
"I know but honestly Ro,I knew you tell me it was your mess and to let you figure it out" you say " but Roman we got her"
"We do Thank you" he says kissing you.
"Don't thank me yet we still have to make a case" you say
" True but let's not think about that right now let's go to bed" he says pulling you close

Some Drifted, Missing (and Some Drifted, Found) CH.1
Summary: Soooo basically I got an idea inspired by Shay’s post here. Horror movie AU but slightly to the left? And then it became chapters. “What if the sides were idiot teenagers playing with a Ouija board and then they had to save themselves from supernatural creatures.”
If it interests anyone, Deceit is in here, he’s called Dee, we keep it simple up in this b*tch. And he’s not the villain/monster and is twins with Logan because I wrote it once with a friend and it’s now a personal hc. Rip. I also started this before DWIT came out so I’m gonna... omit Remus.
Pairings: No romantic, just platonic DLAMP
Triggers: non-major character death, murder mention (very brief and non-descriptive!), sympathetic Deceit, swearing, minor crimes (B&E basically), ouija boards, uh... spooks? I’m new to tagging triggers for my writing, so feel free to tell me if i'm missing things!!
Taglist: @sidespromptblog @effortiswhatmatters
AO3 Link
/wee-juh/ noun. a device consisting of a small board, or planchette, on legs that rest on a larger board marked with words, letters of the alphabet, etc., and that by moving over the larger board and touching the words, letters, etc, while the fingers of spiritualists, mediums, or others rest lightly upon it, is employed to answer questions, give messages, etc.
The five teenagers stood at the gate to the oldest house in their combined neighborhoods. An awkward hush settled over their group as they stared at the old, rotting corpse of a building perched in the very center of an overgrown yard.
The tallest, and by far the lankiest and most gothic looking, of the five shrunk back behind two of his friends with a soft whine, “Guys this is an awful idea. People have died in there! And people who’ve gone in to explore or find shit have gone missing!”
One of the boys, an almost equally tall but muscular brunet, laughs loudly as his bright green eyes light up with the idea of an adventure, “Oh, come now Virgil, those are just stories to keep us off the property! Plus, Jason Toddler, there have probably been as many deaths at the local Taco Bell!”
Virgil grimaces and shifts to stand behind a different friend, “Thanks Roman, not helping.”
Roman shrugs a little, apologetic, as one of the brown eyed and strawberry blond twins shoves him, “Hey! Don’t scare Virgil, only I get to do that!”
The other twin, identical except for the thick framed glasses, rolls his eyes, “Very mature, Dee. Now, are we going or not?”
The fifth in the group, a little blonde who sported round glasses and was who Virgil had tried to hide behind, laughs, “Slow down, Logan. Let’s get Virge calmed down first, okay? I want everyone to be on board before we go in!”
Logan adjusted his glasses with a sharp nod, “Right, of course Patton. Virgil, there is truly nothing to fear as the so-called ‘paranormal’ does not exist. That is what we are here to prove tonight, is it not?”
The group watches as Virgil takes a few steadying breaths and stands up straight, “Yeah, it’s fucking bullshit. You’re right, let’s fucking go.”
Patton bounces on his toes, blue eyes sparkling, “Aaah, I’m proud of you kiddo! Let’s go, go, go!”
Dee rolls his eyes with a grin, kicking the front gate open, “A’ight bitches, up you get, Ro and I have a bet to win! Ro, you got the Ouija?”
The brunet grins, passing Dee the case, “Yep! Time to blow some non-believer’s minds.”
Virgil shoulders past Roman and Dee, heading for the porch, “I couldn’t handle your stalling, get up here already before my sanity kicks in.” He turns to face them as they scramble to catch up and sees Logan opening his mouth, “Just because the paranormal isn’t real, doesn’t mean this place is safe, dude. It’s old as dirt.”
Logan sighs, looking around as he joins Virgil on the porch, “I will concede to that point, I suppose.”
“Lo, quit being a posh bitch. There aren’t any of your debate buddies, you’re fine to quit being the Smart Twin™,” Dee snorts, shaking his head.
“I’m sorry, did you just say the trademark symbol out loud?” Logan openly stares at his twin, stunned, “Bitch, what the fuck?”
Patton laughs, “Alright, settle down everybody. I’ll be counting for the swear jar, remember that!”
Roman whines, stomping a little on the porch steps, “Paaaat! That’s not fair, what if something spooks us?”
“Easy, don’t swear when you scream,” Virgil snickers, “I know it’s a difficult concept, but I believe in you.”
Patton giggles, “Okay, okay, no fighting. Now... about this door. Is it locked?”
Dee reaches for the knob, twisting it to test, “Yep, locked. I could maybe kick it in; can definitely kick it in with Roman or Lo’s help.”
“Nah, it’s fine, I got it,” Patton shimmies through the group to crouch at eye level with the lock, “Oh! It’s an old tumbler lock, this’ll be easy.”
“Patton, what ar‒” Roman’s voice peters out as they all watch Patton pull out a small soft case of lockpicks and start on unlocking the door.
“This’ll ruin the lock but‒ c’mon baby, c’mon don’t be mean‒ it works in a real pinch. Ah-ha! Here we go,” Patton wiggles in excitement as he stands up, opening the door and turning to face the group.
“Um, guys? Is something wrong?” Patton’s smile falls as he sees his friends’ disbelief and shock.
The twins are the first to shake off their surprise as they both clear their throats with a shake of their heads, completely in-sync, “No, just, uh, new information!”
Patton’s smile came back almost instantly, “Well? What are we waiting for then? Let’s go!”
The four watch as the endlessly sunny blonde spins on his heel and skips into the old house. Him spinning back around and waving for them to follow finally spurs them into action, Roman and Dee scrambling to catch up as Virgil and Logan share a concerned look before following their friends.
Inside, it is silent. Almost to an oppressive degree. Everything is coated in dust and grime but there was still furniture. It looks like nobody had ever moved out. The floorboards still has visible wear patterns from the old owners, but they weren’t completely rotted out like the boys thought they would be. The paint is faded in places from where the light came through the windows but otherwise it was a uniform, dark burgundy color that made the rooms feel smaller than they actually were in the late evening sun. The group walks through the house, chattering softly about little things they see as they walk through the still-furnished living room and dining room, in awe of the old architecture looming above them.
Roman and Dee are determined to find an old room with a nice atmosphere to set up their ouija board for a session, covertly keeping a close eye on each other and the rest of their group. They definitely aren’t afraid of the idea of ghosts, no siree. Just worried about the others wandering off in a weird, old, condemned house.
They wander into a large library, coated in dust but otherwise looking like the residents might walk in at any moment to catch them trespassing. The book titles are hard to read, the dust is so thick, but Logan immediately started wandering the edges of the room to try to see what the shelves held in them. Light streaks in from a cobweb coated window and hit the desk in the middle of the room perfectly, obviously arranged there for that exact reason.
Dee glances over at Roman and holds up the weathered travel-case and rattles it with raised eyebrows before gesturing to the desk in front of him. It's their best bet, in his opinion, short of setting up on the floor. Which, again, in his personal opinion, is nasty and he could see some weird stains on the carpeting that hasn’t been cleaned in who knows how long.
Roman nodded, clapping his hands together, “Alright! Logan, Virgil, time to finalize the bet. If we contact a spirit, you both owe Dee and me ten bucks each. If we don’t, we owe you both ten bucks each. So that’s twenty from each loser and twenty to each winner. Sound good?”
Logan’s eyes narrow as he stalks over to grin at his twin and their friend, “I’m fine with that, if Dee and Virgil are. Vee?”
“Yeah, sounds good. We’ll be winning anyways.”
“Oh you’re on,” Dee grins, leaning over the desk to offer his hand to shake Virgil’s.
Roman does the same with Logan as Patton tilts his head, scrolling through his phone. “So we’re here because of the murders, right? The double homicide that happened to the original owners?”
“Well, yeah?” Roman broke off his staring contest with Logan for a moment, “Why?”
“Well we’ve chosen a fitting room, I can tell you that much!” He grimaced as he stepped around the stains on the carpet before looking at his phone again, “Because these are blood.”

AFTER SO LONG I FINALLY FINISHED UP WHAT I NEEDED TO DO FOR MY TAZ AMNESTY MOODBOARDS AND PLAYLIST!
To be honest I had everything done except I just got lazy with uploading lmao. Now wait as I take forever to finish my TAZ Dust playlist! (Moodboards are done though)
As always here’s the link to the playlist and under the cut is the tracklist with 9 songs for each member of the trio and 5 songs each for Barclay, Mama, and Dani (Danny?) as well as a lyric to each song that I felt fit each character in some way!
Tracklist is written in order of the moodboards above so it should go: Aubrey, Duck, Ned, Barclay, Mama, and Dani (Danny?)
Please enjoy!
Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDQk0bABGzY7uCZPnDYY5tBYBvGGtcbty
Aubrey:
She’s A Rebel by Green Day
- She’s a rebel
She’s a saint
She’s the salt of the earth
And she’s dangerous
She’s a rebel
Vigilante
Missing link on the brink
Of destruction
From Chicago to Toronto
She’s the one that they
Call old ‘whatsername’
She’s the symbol
Of resistance
And she’s holding on my heart
Like a hand grenade
Is she dreaming
what I’m thinking?
Is she the mother of all bombs?
Gonna detonate
Youngblood by Green Day
- I want to hold you like a gun
We’ll shoot the moon into the sun
Alright, alright
Are you stranded, like I’m stranded?
Do you want to watch the world fall to pieces?
Are you broken, like I’m broken?
Are you restless she said: “fuck you, I’m from Oakland!”
She’s my little youngblood
(Youngblood)
Punch-drunken youngblood
Make Me Feel by Janelle Monaé
- It’s like I’m powerful with a little bit of tender
An emotional, sexual bender
Mess me up, yeah, but no one does it better
There’s nothin’ better
That’s just the way you make me feel
That’s just the way you make me feel
So real, so good, so fuckin’ real
That’s just the way you make me feel
That’s just the way you make me feel
You know I love it, so please don’t stop it
You got me right here in your jean pocket (right now)
Laying your body on a shag carpet (oh)
You know I love it so please don’t stop it
The Phoenix by Fall Out Boy
- Strike a match and I’ll burn you to the ground
We are the jack-o-lanterns in July
Setting fire to the sky
Here, here comes this rising tide so come on
Put on your war paint
Cross walks and crossed hearts and hope to die
Seal the clouds with grey lining
So we can take the world back from the heart-attacked
One maniac at a time we will take it back
You know time crawls on when you’re waiting for the song to start
So dance along to the beat of your heart
Hey Youngblood doesn’t it feel like our time is running out
I’m going to change you like a remix
Then I’ll raise you like a phoenix
Wearing all vintage misery
No I think it looked a little better on me
Young and Menance by Fall Out Boy
- Woke up on the wrong side of reality
And there’s a madness that’s just coursing right through me
And as far as the time, far as the time
Not sure I’m there yet but I’m certain I’ve arrived
Oops I, did it again, I
Forgot what I was losing my mind about
I only wrote this down to make you press rewind
And send a message, “I was young and a menace”
Cherry Bomb by The Runaways
- Stone age love and strange sounds too.
Come on, baby, let me get to you.
Bad nights causing teenage blues.
Get down ladies, you’ve got nothin’ to lose.
Hello, daddy. Hello, mom.
I’m your ch-ch-ch-cherry bomb!
Hello world! I’m your wild girl.
I’m your ch-ch-ch-cherry bomb!
Caffiene by Jeff Williams (Feat. Casey Lee Williams and Lamar Hall)
- I’m a cheetah on the plains, I’m a highway star
A supersonic princess in a million dollar car
Blood on fire pumping through my veins
Weaving in and out while I’m bolting through the lanes
I’m hyperdrive, overdrive, hit the gas at fifty-five
Break neck, trainwreck, in my presence genuflect
Track-roundin’, speed-a-soundin’, electrifyin’, pulse-poundin’
Heart-pumpin’, brain-thumpin’, watch me get the party jumpin’
Caffeine
I’m Caffeine (Caffeine)
Caffeine
I’m Caffeine (Caffeine)
I’m a bad dream
I’m a rad scene
I’m a tad mean
But I’m not afraid to take you out (afraid to take you out)
I Burn by Jeff Williams (Feat. Casey Lee Williams and Lamar Hall)
- You’re standing too close to a flame that’s burning Hotter than the sun in the middle of July
Sending out your army, but you still can’t win Listen up, silly boy, ‘cuz I’m gonna tell you why
I burn! Can’t hold me now You got nothing that can stop me
I burn! Swing all you want Like a fever, I will take you down!
Take Your Time (Do It Right) by S.O.S. Band
- You know you ought to slow down
You been working too hard and that’s a fact
Sit back and relax a while
Take some time to laugh and smile
Lay your heavy load down
So we can stop and kick back
It seems we never take the time to do
All the things we want to, yeah
Now, baby we can do it
Take the time, do it right
We can do it, baby
Do it tonight
Duck:
Wake Me Up by Avicci
- I tried carrying the weight of the world
But I only have two hands
Hope I get the chance to travel the world
But I don’t have any plans
Wish that I could stay forever this young
Not afraid to close my eyes
Life’s a game made for everyone
And love is a prize
So wake me up when it’s all over
When I’m wiser and I’m older
All this time I was finding myself, and I
Didn’t know I was lost
The Moss by Cosmo Sheldrake
- But have you heard the story of the rabbit in the moon?
Or the cow that hopped the planets while straddling a spoon
Or she, who leapt up mountains, while whistling up a tune
And swapped her songs with swallows while riding on a broom
Well, we can all learn things, both many and a-few
From that old hunched-up woman who lived inside a shoe
Or the girl that sang by day and by night she ate tear soup
Or the man who drank too much and he got the brewers’ droop
Legend has it that the moss grows on
The north side of the trees
Well, legend has it that when the rain comes down
All the worms come up to breathe
Well, legend has it when the sunbeams come
All the plants, they eat them with their leaves
Well, legend has it that the world spins round
On an axis of 23 degrees
Alien Days by MGMT
- Must’ve skipped the ship and joined the team
For a ride
A couple hours to learn the controls
And commandeer both my eyes
Hey!
Be quick dear, times are uncertain
One month crawling, next year blurring
Decades in the drain
Monograms on the brain
Decide what’s working and what’s moved on
To the last phase
The floodgate alien days
I love those alien days
Mmm… the alien days
When the peels are down, it feels like traveling in style
You don’t need wings to hover forty ton stones for a mile
And in the summer, virgin visions
Mindless humming
Numbers can’t decide if the day’s supposed to smile
Today find infinite ways it could be
Plenty worse
It’s a blessing but it’s also a curse
Those days taught me everything I know
How to catch a feeling
And when to let it go
How all the scheming, soulless creatures
Can’t find dreamer’s honey in the hive
If it’s right beneath the nose
Lake Shore Drive by Aliotta Haynes
- And there ain’t no road just like it
Anywhere I found
Running south on Lake Shore Drive heading into town
Just slippin’ on by on LSD, Friday night trouble bound
And it starts up north from Hollywood, water on the driving side
Concrete mountains rearing up, throwing shadows just about five
Sometimes you can smell the green if your mind is feeling fine
There ain’t no finer place to be, than running Lake Shore Drive
And there’s no peace of mind, or place you see, than riding on Lake Shore Drive
Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd
- If I leave here tomorrow
Would you still remember me?
For I must be traveling on, now
Cause there’s too many places I’ve got to see
But, if I stayed here with you, girl
Things just couldn’t be the same
Cause I’m as free as a bird now
And this bird you can not change
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
And this bird you can not change
And this bird you can not change
Lord knows, I can’t change
Ain’t No Mountain High Enough by Marvin Gaye (Feat. Tammi Terrell)
- Listen baby, ain’t no mountain high
Ain’t no valley low, ain’t no river wide enough baby
If you need me call me no matter where you are
No matter how far don’t worry baby
Just call my name I’ll be there in a hurry
You don’t have to worry
'Cause baby there ain’t no mountain high enough
Ain’t no valley low enough
Ain’t no river wide enough
To keep me from getting to you babe
Remember the day I set you free
I told you you could always count on me darling
From that day on, I made a vow
I’ll be there when you want me
Some way, some how
'Cause baby there ain’t no mountain high enough
Ain’t no valley low enough
Ain’t no river wide enough
To keep me from getting to you babe
Believer by Imagine Dragons
- I was choking in the crowd
Building my rain up in the cloud
Falling like ashes to the ground
Hoping my feelings, they would drown
But they never did, ever lived, ebbing and flowing
Inhibited, limited
'Til it broke up and it rained down
It rained down, like
You made me a, you made me a believer, believer
(Pain, pain)
You break me down, you built me up, believer, believer
(Pain)
I let the bullets fly, oh let them rain
My life, my love, my drive, it came from
(Pain)
You made me a, you made me a believer, believer
Fallout by Catfish And The Bottlemen
- So I spent my yesterday
Ducking your calls
And in fear that things would change
So I tidied up my place
'Cause you always told me
It got me thinking straight
Oh, but no, you still had to call
Oh, but no, you still had to come
But we just always
Seem to just fallout
When I’m most in need of it
And you just always
Seem to just call out
When I’m up for leaving it
You see now
I’m sorry if I drove, your matches to my clothes
But you know how I can get sometimes
Save Rock ‘n’ Roll by Fall Out Boy (Feat. Elton John)
- Whoa
How’d it get to be only me?
Like I’m the last damn kid still kicking
That still believes
I will defend the faith
Going down swinging
I will save the songs
That we can’t stop singing
No, No
Wherever I go, go
Trouble seems to follow
I only plugged in to save rock and roll, rock and roll
No, No
Wherever I go, go
Trouble seems to follow
I only plugged in to save rock and roll
Ned:
Trouble Comes A Knocking by Timber Timbre
- I want your money
But your money ain’t right
So I’m packing it in
I stay at home every night
And, our place had cleared out
The bad luck had fallen
And no one came knocking
No one came calling
And when things got real bad
Oh, people got scared
Well I got worried
So we took what we could get
And all you fair-weather watchers
Watch out and beware
When your trouble comes knocking
I hope you ain’t there
Troublemaker by Weezer
- I’m such a mystery as anyone can see
There isn’t anybody else exactly quite like me
And when it’s party time, like 1999
I’ll party by myself because I’m such a special guy
I’m a troublemaker, never been a faker
Doing things my own way and never giving up
I’m a troublemaker, not a double-taker
I don’t have the patience to keep it on the up
Movin’ Out by Billy Joel
- Sergeant O'Leary is walkin’ the beat
At night he becomes a bartender
He works at Mister Cacciatore’s down
On Sullivan Street
Across from the medical center
He’s tradin’ in his Chevy for a Cadillac
You oughta know by now
And if he can’t drive
With a broken back
At least he can polish the fenders
It seems such a waste of time
If that’s what it’s all about
Mama if that’s movin’ up
Then I’m movin’ out
I’m movin’ out
You should never argue with a crazy mind (mmm)
You oughta know by now
You can pay Uncle Sam with the overtime
Is that all you get for your money
If that’s what you have in mind
If that’s what you’re all about
Good luck movin’ up
'Cause I’m moving out
I Fought The Law by The Clash
- I fought the law and the law won
I fought the law and the law won
I lost my girl and I lost my fun
I fought the law and the law won
I fought the law and the law won
I left my baby and it feels so bad
Guess my race is run
She’s the best girl that I ever had
I fought the law and the law won
I fought the law and the
I fought the law and the law won
I fought the law and the law won
Should I Stay (Or Should I Go) by The Clash
- This indecision’s bugging me (esta indecision me molesta)
If you don’t want me, set me free (si no me quieres, librame)
Exactly whom I’m supposed to be (digame que tengo ser)
Don’t you know which clothes even fit me? (no sabes que ropas me queda)
Come on and let me know (me tienes que decir)
Should I cool it or should I blow? (me debo ir o quedarme)
Split
Should I stay or should I go now? (yo me enfrio o lo soplo)
Should I stay or should I go now? (yo me enfrio o lo soplo)
If I go there will be trouble (si me voy va a haber peligro)
And if I stay it will be double (si me quedo sera el doble)
So ya gotta let me know (me tienes que decir)
Should I cool it or should I blow? (me debo ir o quedarme)
Should I stay or should I go now? (tengo frío por los ojos)
If I go there will be touble (tengo frio por los ojos)
And if I stay it wil be double
Feel It Still by Portugal. The Man
- Got another mouth to feed
Leave her with a baby sitter, mama, call the grave digger
Gone with the fallen leaves
Am I coming out of left field?
Ooh woo, I’m a rebel just for kicks, now
I been feeling it since 1966, now
Might’ve had your fill, but you feel it still
Ooh woo, I’m a rebel just for kicks, now
Let me kick it like it’s 1986, now
Might be over now, but I feel it still
We could fight a war for peace
(Ooh woo, I’m a rebel just for kicks, now)
Give in to that easy living
Goodbye to my hopes and dreams
Stop flipping for my enemies
We could wait until the walls come down
(Ooh woo, I’m a rebel just for kicks, now)
It’s time to give a little to the
Kids in the middle, but oh 'til it falls
Won’t bother me
Highway To Hell by AC/DC
- Living easy, living free
Season ticket on a one-way ride
Asking nothing, leave me be
Taking everything in my stride
Don’t need reason, don’t need rhyme
Ain’t nothing I would rather do
Going down, party time
My friends are gonna be there too
I’m on the highway to hell
On the highway to hell
Highway to hell
I’m on the highway to hell
No stop signs, speed limit
Nobody’s gonna slow me down
Like a wheel, gonna spin it
Nobody’s gonna mess me around
Hey Satan, paid my dues
Gold On The Ceiling by The Black Keys
- Clouds covered love’s
Barb-wired snare
Strung up, strung out
I just can’t go without
I could never drown in
They wanna get my
They wanna get my
Gold on the ceiling
I ain’t blind
Just a matter of time
Before you steal it
It’s alright
Ain’t no guard in my house
The Ballad of Bull Ramos by The Mountain Goats
- Drive a great big truck When I’m old, when I’m old Haul the wrecks down to the wreck yard Help the boys unload
Keep my hair nice and long Because I can, because I can
Any of my old friends who have no place to turn to They know to call me any time they come through
Never die, never die
Stand with a bullwhip in my hand
And rise, rise
In the desert sand
Barclay:
The Chain by Fleetwood Mac
- Listen to the wind blow down comes the night
Running in the shadows damn your love, damn your lies
Break the silence, damn the dark, damn the light
And if, you don’t love me now
You will never love me again
I can still hear you saying
You would never break the chain (Never break the chain)
Float On by Modest Mouse
- I backed my car into a cop car the other day
Well, he just drove off - sometimes life’s okay
I ran my mouth off a bit too much, ah what did I say?
Well, you just laughed it off and it was all okay
And we’ll all float on okay
And we’ll all float on okay
And we’ll all float on okay
And we’ll all float on anyway, well
A fake Jamaican took every last dime with that scam
It was worth it just to learn some sleight of hand
Bad news comes, don’t you worry even when it lands
Good news will work it way to all them plans
We both got fired on, exactly, the same day
Well, we’ll float on, good news is on the way
Mr. Blue Sky by Electric Light Orchestra
- Hey you with the pretty face
Welcome to the human race
A celebration, mister blue sky’s up there waitin’
And today is the day we’ve waited for
Oh mister blue sky please tell us why
You had to hide away for so long (so long)
Where did we go wrong?
Hey there mister blue
We’re so pleased to be with you
Look around see what you do
Everybody smiles at you
Come A Little Bit Closer by Jay and The Americans
- Then I heard the guitar player say
“Vamos, Jose’s on his way”
Then I knew, yes I knew I should run
But then I heard her say, yeah
“Come a little bit closer
You’re my kind of man
So big and so strong
Come a little bit closer
I’m all alone and the night is so long”
Then the music stopped
When I looked the cafe was empty
Then I heard Jose say
“Man, you know you’re in trouble plenty”
So I dropped my drink from my hand
And out through the window I ran
And as I rode away
I could hear her say to Jose, yeah
“Come a little bit closer
You’re my kind of man
So big and so strong
Come a little bit closer
I’m all alone and the night is so long”
Black Water by Timber Timbre
- You’ve fallen barefoot past the treeline
Peeping boned-eyed, birches sway
And a thousand whitefish floating belly up
In the spirit that I crave
And we threw ourselves right into it
Where lay the bodies had been claimed
We dove a third, a fourth, a fifth
Banned to the spirit that I crave
All I need is some sunshine
All I need
All I need is some sunshine
All I need
I found empathy from madness
Deliverance from malaise
My heart is filled with gladness
And you’re the only spirit that I crave
All I need is some sunshine
All I need
All I need is some sunshine
All I need
Black Water (pull me down)
Black Water (pull me down)
Mama:
Come to Mama by Lady Gaga
- Dude in a lab coat and a man of God
(Come onto mama, come on, mama)
Fought over prisms and a forty-day flood
(Come onto mama, come on, mama)
Well, I say rainbows did more than they’ve ever done
So why do we gotta fight over ideas?
We’re talkin’ the same old shit after all of these years
Come to mama
Tell me who hurt ya
There’s gonna be no future
If we don’t figure this out
Oh, come tomorrow
Who are you gonna follow?
There’s gonna be no future
If we don’t figure this out
Psychic guru catches minnows in the harbor
(Come onto mama, come on, mama)
Everyone tells him he should work a little harder (hey man get to work, catch up)
(Come onto mama, come on, mama)
They all tell you that freedom must be bought
But, baby, he’s already caught them
So why do we gotta tell each other how to live?
The only prisons that exist are ones we put each other in
Similau by Peggy Lee
- Spirit in the wood beat the hollow cane
Spirit in the wood take away the pain
Make the body ripe and alive again
I Similau (I Similau, I Similau)
Spirit in the heart make the blood flow fast
Spirit in the heart make the beauty last
Keep the hope alive when the youth go past
I Similau (I Similau, I Similau)
When my lover comes upon the scene
Drop a petal from the tree
Fling the mountain up into the sky
Fill the river with the sea
Spirit in the wood let the hollow cane
Echo in the afterglow
Waiting for the flame to burn again
I Similau (I Similau I Similau)
On Your Way by Alabama Shakes
- On your way to God,
Did you think of me?
On your way to heaven,
Did you say “I’ll see you again”?
It wasn’t me, why wasn’t it me?
On your way to to the promised land, did you say
“Oh, she was such a friend”?
Then they took you higher and
I don’t know if I can follow…
It wasn’t me, why wasn’t it me?
On your way, I said to the air,
I don’t know if I am strong.
So I climbed to the mountain
And I don’t know what I did wrong
And it was just me, just little ole me…
Take Me Out by Franz Ferdinand
- So if you’re lonely
You know I’m here waiting for you
I’m just a cross hair
I’m just a shot away from you
And if you leave here
You leave me broken, shattered, I lie
I’m just a cross hair
I’m just a shot, then we can die
I know I won’t be leaving here with you
I say don’t you know
You say you don’t know
I say, take me out!
I say you don’t show
Don’t move, tide is low
I say, take me out!
I say you don’t know
You say you don’t know
I say, take me out!
If I move this could die
Eyes move this can die
I want you to take me out
I know I won’t be leaving here (with you)
I know I won’t be leaving here
Jackie and Wilson by Hozier
- She blows out of nowhere, roman candle of the wild
Laughing away through my feeble disguise
No other version of me I would rather to be tonight
Lord she found me just in time
'Cause with my mid-youth crisis all said and done
I need to be youthfully felt, 'cause God I never felt young
She’s gonna save me call me baby run her hands through my hair
She’ll know me crazy, soothe me daily, but yet she wouldn’t care
We’ll steal her Lexus, be detectives, ride round pickin’ up clues
We’ll name our children Jackie and Wilson, 'raise em on rhythm and blues
Dani (Danny?):
Dance Apocolyptic by Janelle Monaé
- You’re going crazy, the hitmen always finds you
Do that dance, smoking in the girls room
Kissin’ French, it’s over like a comic book
Exploding in a bathroom stall (AH!)
She’s so freaked out, worrying about the bomb threat
You bought a house, but I’m allergic to the house pets
Credit cards
They bought a new wife for shiny little lonely men
But I really, really want to thank you for dancing 'til the end
You found a way to break out
You’re not afraid to break out
But I need to know if the world says it’s time to go Tell me, will you freak out? Smash, smash, bang, bang Don’t stop Chalang-alang-alang
But I need to know if the world says its time to go
Tell me, will you break out?
Smash, smash, bang, bang
Don’t stop, chalangalangalang
Smash, smash, bang, bang
Don’t stop, chalang-alang-alang)
Stand By Me by Ben E. King (Florence + The Machine cover)
- If the sky that we look upon
Should tumble and fall
And the mountain should crumble to the sea
I won’t cry, I won’t cry
No I won’t shed a tear
Just as long as you stand, stand by me
And darling, darling stand by me
Oh, stand by me
Stand by me, stand by me, stand by me
Whenever you’re in trouble won’t you stand by me
Oh, now, now, stand by me
Oh, stand by me, stand by me, stand by me
Bmblb by Jeff Williams (Feat. Casey Lee Williams)
- We’ll sit for a while
As I drink in your smile
It feels like a dream that’s come true
My head starts to buzz
And my heart fills with love over you
Baby can’t you see?
You could be with me
We could live inside a garden of ecstasy
You could be my queen
I could be your dream
Life’s like a fantasy
Maybe set me free
Let me be your bumblebee
Now the flowers are in bloom
And you’ve chased away my darkness and gloom
When the wind blows through the trees
And your voice is like a song in the breeze
My doubts disappear every time that you’re near
Clouds seem to run from the sky
The thought of your kiss sends my soul into bliss
I get high
Take Me To Church by Hozier (Neon Jungle Cover)
- If I’m a pagan of the good times
My lover’s the sunlight
To keep the Goddess on my side
She demands a sacrifice
To drain the whole sea
Get something shiny
Something meaty for the main course
That’s a fine looking high horse
What you got in the stable?
We’ve a lot of starving faithful
That looks tasty
That looks plenty
This is hungry work
Take me to church
I’ll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies
I’ll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife
Offer me that deathless death
Good God, let me give you my life
Angel of The Morning by Juice Newton
- Maybe the sun’s light will be dim
And it won’t matter anyhow
If morning’s echo says we’ve sinned
It was what I wanted now
And if we’re victims of the night
I won’t be blinded by the light
Just call me angel of the morning, (angel)
Just touch my cheek before you leave me, baby
Just call me angel of the morning, (angel)
Then slowly turn away
I won’t beg you to stay with me
Through the tears of the day, of the years
Baby, baby, baby

Ali & Caleb
Ali: Do we know when Carly's funeral is going to be yet? Ali: I need to come back but I don't want to pester her parents...I sent a message but no response Caleb: I did too and got nothing either Caleb: I'm feeling they dont want us to be knowing Ali: Think so too Ali: Which is rich considering Ali: Trying to be understanding but where have they been Ali: I know I was away too but Caleb: you kept in touch Caleb: they haven't met their grandchild yet, have they? That's their vibe Caleb: imma leave them in peace but its not cool Ali: everything is so fucked Ali: how did this happen Caleb: never seen my mum madder Caleb: she's not praying for them saving 'em up for indie & drew Caleb: you gotta make sure you handle your own goodbye Ali: Can't blame her Ali: thank God she and Meena were there or they could both be gone Ali: What the hell is going to happen now Ali: Yeah, I'll have to, I don't think we're getting in to the real funeral but, it won't be her anyway Ali: they don't know her Caleb: I wish I had been, caught my mum crying hard later & that was before all this Caleb: she's down to take her in but I dunno if he'll allow it Caleb: Carly's parents could take her still its mad here rn Ali: I owe her big time, I didn't know what else to do, she wouldn't go to Hospital so I can't be sorry I did it but I am sorry for the fucking trauma of it all Ali: In a way, that might be better for her, but then...they've not done a good job with Carly, have they? Would they let history repeat itself Ali: but Drew, fuck Caleb: it's all good, like nah, but as far as my mum goes Caleb: you did the right thing Caleb: I dunno man they might be feeling like they're getting a second chance with her but will it be? Caleb: you heard from him? Caleb: im blocked Ali: Thanks, I'm doubting everything I did and said now Ali: but I really tried Ali: I truly don't know what's for the best but it will have to be worked out Ali: Poor baby Ali: No, not since this whole...mess Ali: I think he genuinely feels guilt for this one Caleb: You handled shit better than I could. Better than most I think Caleb: Estou orgulhoso de ti, querida. Caleb: yeah my heart's breaking to look at her Caleb: He won't let me help him & truth be that I don't even know where to start Caleb: No idea what he wants, you know Caleb: could be what the kid needs but as easy could not be Ali: You're too nice for your own good Ali: He probably feels like he doesn't deserve it, and rightly so frankly but not going to spite Indie just to prove a point Ali: She's so innocent Ali: Oh God Ali: I'd do it myself but the social would never sign off on that Ali: who am I, like Ali: She's got family Caleb: I ain't feeling it. I'm raging Caleb: I get that I don't get to speak on it, and he's hurting so I'm not going there but I dunno how he could let her go like that Caleb: With the bab there Caleb: Shit's beyond fucked Caleb: We could try. You were Carly's family Caleb: She'd want you looking out for indie Ali: I don't know Ali: It was hard to know how to help her Ali: but he didn't even try Ali: well, from what we can see from our outside perspective Ali: she seemed to think he did but Ali: I don't fucking know Ali: It really is, thank God Indie won't remember any of this Ali: Drew will have to, and that's his punishment Ali: I asked Mum, its pretty much a no go, if she got put in the system, if none of them claimed her, then maybe, but not whilst I'm at Uni and away and I already have too many kids to deal with by standards Ali: especially for a single parent, they wouldn't favour me over a nice, older well-off couple with everything to give Caleb: She wanted to bounce so says my mum, he shoulda let her do what she needed to do, she had to be in shock having her way it went Caleb: gotta keep your babies safe they're defenseless Caleb: anything could've happened them playing at family how they did Caleb: Filho da mãe! Caleb: Okay but hear me out...what if we went at this together? Caleb: You still got your ring, you're still my missus, legal or nah Caleb: se você me tiver eu estou disposto Ali: She did, she had, she told me where she was Ali: I just think its too easy to think over all this now Ali: its plausible he was trying to keep her safe by bringing her back, its not out there Ali: arguably was safer who knows where she would've ended up Ali: its happened regardless of all the what-ifs and woulda coulda shoulda Ali: better focusing on what we can all do now, Drew included Ali: See, too nice Ali: Of course I do Ali: I still don't think it'll happen but of course we can try Ali: if it comes to that Caleb: True Caleb: He was outta his depth, feeling like he could get Carly to turn it all around, let his kid have the ma he never Caleb: It's sad man Caleb: Good Caleb: We can't worry on that yet but I've been stressing over you out there on your own Caleb: Can I hit you with another idea? Ali: Yeah, exactly Ali: Very fucking sad Ali: Oh, I'm fine, like, not right now but, you know Ali: Go for it Caleb: Try not to get vexed at me for sneaking but it's been a while Caleb: I've been hitting up job offers round you and they've said yeah to some part time things Caleb: I wanna come out, help with the kids more than ever now Caleb: What you think? Ali: You're serious? Ali: I think its the best news I've had in a long while Ali: Well done you! Caleb: what happened got me thinking Caleb: and its the only thing that makes sense Caleb: us all together, you feel me? Caleb: It won't be easy but neither is this rn Ali: I've been feeling the same Ali: but I was too scared to put it out there Ali: Family should be all that matters Ali: the rest is just bullshit to deal with Ali: the kids are going to be so excited when are you coming Caleb: my bad for leaving you hanging this long but I didn't wanna mess you around, not only with the job, you know Caleb: but my heart's sure Caleb: I dunno what I'd do if shit happened to you, cos you're my baby mama yeah, but cos you're you too Caleb: I still feel the same, not trying to change it these days Caleb: Gotta help Gus get my cuz ready to do my thing but won't take no time Ali: Not at all, it had to be right Ali: It would be all the more painful and wrong if you came and we couldn't make it work Ali: I love you Caleb: I love you too Caleb: You've been all on my mind since I last saw you and thats how I want it Ali: Wait Ali: before you commit fully I have something to tell you Ali: might change your mind, I don't know so you need to know now before Caleb: You can tell me Caleb: I'm listening Ali: [Sends bump pic] Ali: About 5/6 months Ali: Your Bday, Christmas, remember? Ali: I didn't say because Ali: Last time Ali: I've not told anyone else though, no one Caleb: Shit man! You been dealing on your own Caleb: That's so rough, Ali Caleb: You should've said, hit up your fam if not me Caleb: I get not wanting to say it but I gotta ask, was there anyone else on the scene? Caleb: I know what I think but I need to hear it Ali: It was worst for you but Ali: it wasn't exactly easy to tell them Ali: I know they were all disappointed or disgusted or whatever else valid feelings but it wasn't fun Ali: No, no one else Caleb: We gotta tell them Caleb: Mine too Caleb: What's the story? What's the doctor said? Are you both good? Ali: Yeah, my blood pressure's a bit high but to be expected, I told him I ain't got no time to chill Ali: are you happy? Ali: do you think anyone will be? or have i had one too many to soon to get the congrats now Caleb: I'm gonna make time for you to chill Caleb: Swear down Caleb: Eu nunca estive mais feliz Caleb: And they'll be happy for us too. Trust Ali: That would be nice Ali: don't think I've stopped since I came here Ali: If they aren't, they aren't Ali: Its coming, like Caleb: I'll rush through what I gotta do here, be with you sooner Caleb: More I can do to take care of the bubs the more you can have that you time Caleb: I'm not slipping on you or this baby, you're gonna be all good Caleb: Gus'll throw us a party, he misses you like I do Ali: You don't need to do that, tho no shade to your cuz but some talent you just can't teach Ali: #natural Ali: I miss him too, I miss everyone Ali: Oh shit Ali: Has anyone told Ro? Did she even know Carly was pregnant Ali: We've not spoken much, I've tried to give her space, let her live her Uni dreams Ali: Fuck Caleb: You don't need to hype me but I'll allow it Caleb: yeah no lie I'm a bit scared about heading over gotta be done for my culinary arts tho like, keep the restaurant game fresh for my fam Caleb: Oh damn! Meena maybe? I dunno Caleb: She swerves me & everything happened fast Ali: You're gonna love it Ali: I've found so many amazing places already, I can't wait to show you Ali: Even Junie's trying new things Ali: I'll have to ask her, God I hope so Ali: If not, oddly maybe it'll be best coming from me? Seems wrong but Ali: she knows I was friends with Carly Caleb: That's my boy 💪💚 Caleb: I'm excited too, trust Caleb: yeah we all felt the love Caleb: Hope she didn't hear it from the wrong peeps but it'll be what it is Ali: I dread to think how fast the rumour mill be spinning Ali: Wankers Caleb: Least she got that distance Caleb: You're the furthest and closest Caleb: I hate that it's gotta be this way for you Ali: I'm just glad I got to know her Ali: I was lucky enough, none of them were so Ali: say what they like, they did when she was alive, like Caleb: I should've known her better Caleb: I knew what Drew was doing Ali: We all did Ali: what could we have done? stop him? stop her? Ali: they both made choices, even if they were poor ones, or made not in their best state and mind Caleb: True Caleb: I let him make a lot of bad choices, shit went on too long Caleb: It's not on me to pull him back anymore I got focus elsewhere Ali: You can't blame yourself for him Ali: its his to shoulder Ali: yeah, a lot of bad shit happened to him but, he's made a lot of it happen since Ali: not his excuse of a Ma Ali: she's not been around for a long time Ali: Meena still manages to be good and do the right thing, y'know? Caleb: Exactly Caleb: He's grown now and he needs to act it more than he's been Caleb: There are two kids in this Caleb: Behaving like her isn't what he wants but we can't do the changing for him Caleb: It wasn't on Carly to help me out with that either Ali: Right, though, clearly he won't acknowledge Edie unless I'm dead Ali: Fucked up thing to say but more fucked up that its real Ali: I know Ali: but she loved him, she wanted to Ali: he shoulda treated her so much better, she gave him everything she had and for what? Caleb: over my dead body would he mess that kids head and life up if you weren't here Caleb: it's not right Caleb: I don't feel I know him nowadays Ali: I know Ali: you're a better Dad to her than he could ever be Ali: just the truth Ali: I know Ali: its a shame but you and your fam have done all you can for him Ali: can only wait and see what he does now Caleb: I'd adopt her but I'm hoping against hope he'll wanna be her dad Caleb: But if not now when like? Caleb: Now he's got to take care of Indie alone that's the excuse he needs Caleb: shit man Caleb: he doesn't deserve either of those girls Ali: She'll know Ali: we don't need a piece of paper to make it official Ali: she feels the 💚 Ali: No matter what happens, we have to look after Indie too, okay? Ali: Make sure she's good Ali: Promise Caleb: I promise you Caleb: nothing's gonna happen to any of these kids on my watch Caleb: she'll feel the love too, all we've got Caleb: 5 babies or 15, gonna keep my word Ali: Same Ali: we're not doing a bad job, are we? Ali: I don't want to prove everyone right Caleb: We've been slipping but it'll be all good when we're together again Caleb: Better with you than without Caleb: And we've always done the bubs right no matter what Ali: Yeah Ali: You're right Ali: haters got me trippin' Ali: don't tell Caleb: I'll pick you up on the quiet Caleb: when you going to the doctors again? I'll time my trip so I can be with Ali: its not 'til next month Ali: so that should actually work out reasonably well? Caleb: Fated Ali: if not its only a checkup so its chill Ali: but we can aim for it Caleb: Sooner the better for me Caleb: Don't tell the kids I wanna show up and see them lose their shit like on the vids Ali: That will be too cute for words Caleb: forreal Caleb: Imma try and get Junie on the songs cos I got my girls to help me Caleb: he's already a chatterbox we halfway to it Ali: they've learnt this Malay nursery rhyme Ali: its sick, they're so good at it Ali: I'll let them show you when you come Caleb: they can teach me Caleb: gimme a leg up Ali: Yeah, and Mandarin Ali: like, you'd get along fine with English but its so much more fun and just respectful to try Ali: I want them to learn as much as they can whilst we're here Ali: and wherever else we end up Caleb: I feel that Caleb: I got an app on my phone but with everything that's been going down I haven't tried Caleb: Sampled some fusion cooking tho which'll be sick now I've got more peeps to get stuck into eating it Caleb: Getting a belly here Ali: 😍 Ali: oh I've missed you Caleb: won't have to for much longer 💚 Caleb: i'll be counting down them training days honest Ali: speaking of Ali: gotta run Ali: got class in an hour and best believe i need all this time to get those kids out the door Caleb: oh I be knowing Caleb: go get your genius on Ali: talk soon ✌ Ali: love you Caleb: te amo 💚💙💜
