Bad batch pt.3
It was Saturday night and Alan was heading to his favorite bear bar. He sported his favorite outfit a pos pear of jeans that hugged every inch of his thick powerful legs, cupped his heavy bubble butt. He had on his favorite button up shirt with vertical striped pattern that curved and stretched up and down his rounded belly. Leaving the top buttons open down to the top of his gut exposing his puffed out hairy chest, the shirt being kept pulled open by his broad shoulders and the sleeves rolled and tightened by his biceps. Every slight flex made his clothes creak and strain in all the right places. Alan was clearly no stranger to a weight set and even with a layer of softness over him he was always the center of attention when he went out to the club. As he walked up and saw the sign read “new turbo based mixed drinks” he walked inside and immediately felt eyes drawn to him. The music blared some non lyrical music easy to dance to even if you can’t dance, Alan headed to the bar ready for a drink. The bartender saw him coming the second he walked through the door and already had a glass of his usual order waiting for him.
Bartender: So who’s gonna be the lucky guy tonight big guy?
Alan took his drink and leaned his back against the bar looking out at the crowd waiting. He knew he wouldn’t have to be the one to go searching for attention and he was right. As if on cue one twink after another offered to buy him drinks for a chance to go home with him. He accepted the drinks of course getting more buzzed with each attempt of flirting.
Bartender: hey maybe you should slow down! You’re guts not going anywhere with all the drinking you do.
Alan brushed off that comment while also suddenly becoming aware of how bloated all the booze had made him he could feel his shirt getting tighter around his gut. For a minute he thought should slow it down, but in came the next guy with a drink in his hand hoping for his chance. This went on for the next few hours Alan was practically wasted at this point, never having let this routine of his go on this long. And then came up the hottest person Alan had ever seen with slicked back hair, sheer top that revealed every chiseled smooth muscle and, a pair of nipples Alan wanted to suck on for hours, with nothing but a jock strap on that looked like it was holding on for dear life. Alan wasn’t sure if he was just drunk or if this guy was just that gorgeous either way he found the one for tonight. The hunk strolled up to Alan cool and collected with of course another drink.
Hunk: What’s up my names Mitch! I couldn’t help but notice you all night, you look great! I figured I’d bring you one of the new drinks on the menu since it seemed like you’ve been drinking the same thing all night.
Alan tried to form the words to say thank you as he took a sip of the drink Mitch gave him. Suddenly Alan could feel the buzz winding down not sure of the cause but not wasting the moment, he started up chatting with Mitch.
Alan: thank you! You are just gorgeous I gotta say, what made you wait so long to come by?
Mitch: well if I’m being honest I’ve been building the courage to come talk to you! You’ve had guys lined up all night trying to get your attention I figured my chances were slim.
Alan: Oh you’ve no idea what you look like huh? If you’d come sooner I can promise the line would have disappeared.
For the next hour Alan did the drink ordering getting the new turbo mixed drinks as he and Mitch chatted. Alan found out Mitch is a doctor and he shared funny medical stories. He couldn’t be sure if it was just the booze but Alan was pretty sure he’d like things to go further than one night but when he thought about it he hadn’t been feeling buzzed for a while now but he bloating never let up. He looked down and was shocked to see how distended his gut was he could feel the cool air hitting his belly through gaps in his buttoned shirt. Mitch noticed Alan getting distracted and looking a bit worried he came in closer putting his hand on the top curvature of Alan’s belly and using his other to caress the side of his smooth basketball belly. Mitch leaned in close to whisper to Alan.
Mitch: Don’t worry I think it looks great on you I actually haven’t been able to stop staring. How about we take things to a room in the back?
Alan had chills run down his spine after hearing what Mitch wanted to do. Mitch grabbed Alan’s hand and guided him to the back door which lead to a hallway lined with private rooms for exactly what Alan hoped was about to happen. As alan was being led to a room he couldn’t help but notice he was developing a slight waddle and he could hear his clothes creaking more than usual.
They made it into a back room, it was simple no wall decor only a queen size bed that looked surprisingly clean. As Mitch lead Alan to the bed his shirt suddenly got even tighter and one by one his buttons popped off firing at Mitch and bouncing off his bare butt. Mitch turned around curious what just happened and immediately was drawn so Alan’s near beach ball size belly on full display in all its fuzzy glory.
Alan: I don’t know what’s happening to me! It won’t stop growing!
Mitch: well you had a lot to drink and alcohol forces your body to store excess calories into hard fat. Which probably explains the major beer gut but something must have accelerated the process.
Mitch put his hand on the front of Alan’s globe of a belly firm and hairy, he walked behind Alan rubbing his fingers along the side of his belly. From behind Mitch came up close bumping his swollen bulge into Alan’s ass trapped in his now shrinking jeans. Mitch tried to wrap his arms around Alan’s belly from behind but unable to make it even close to fully reaching and he whispered in Alan’s ear.
Mitch: don’t worry you were gonna end up this size if we dated anyway.
Alan’s eyes went wide just as his clothes reached their limits all over. His sleeves began tearing at the seams as his arms began to swell with fat, unable to bend over anymore he could only feel and hear his pants button burst open shoving the zipper down as his fat pad developed. His jeans were being shredded by his thighs sudden increase in diameter till they fell off him no longer able to keep together.
Mitch: well I guess it’s a good you went commando tonight huh tubbs.
Alan blushed at that comment never having been made fun of for his size and not being used to his current size at all.
Mitch: I think it’s time to have some fun, just sit back and have some fun.
Mitch turned Alan towards him and shoved Alan onto the bed, he fell back onto the bed with a solid “whomp”. Alan could feel the bed struggle underneath him as his body had to be clearing 400lbs even if he was mostly belly.
Mitch: looks like someone’s more excited than they let on! Good thing you still have plenty of meat for me to play with.
Alan knew what he was talking about he had been hard for a while now, especially in the last few minutes something about no longer being in control and giving it to Mitch made him feel so comfortable and horny. Mitch began stroking Alan’s shaft, all Alan could do was lie there and moan. He wanted to start bucking his hips from the stimulation but his body was becoming so swollen and engorged and heavy he couldn’t do much. Then Mitch got onto Alan’s lap and straddled his new plumped thunder thighs grabbing onto Alan’s guy for stability Alan’s belly was growing so much he couldn’t see Mitch’s face on the other side his belly was growing in every direction in an almost perfect sphere. Mitch positioned himself onto Alan’s dick and inserted it into him. At this point neither Mitch or alan could control their moans as Mitch rode Alan. Mitch pressed himself into the growing expanse of Alan’s yoga ball belly hugging and groping it feeling Alan’s stretched happy trail on his face as he kissed and licked on the firm warm fat. This went on for minutes until Alan’s belly began taking up to much space his underbelly was beginning to engulf his fat pad and his thighs shoving Mitch off Alan’s dick. Alan now becoming truly concerned about his size he tried to grab at his belly but his arms have become to swollen they’ve taken on cone like shapes unable to bend much, he couldn’t see it but he could feel the same was happening to his legs. His belly kept growing and stretching with the warm firm fat encompassing more of his body his chest began to rise like dough as it merged into his gut his body becoming more and more round over all.
Mitch: looks like we’re gonna have to switch roles big guy.
Mitch came around to the side of Alan’s body and began to shove and push on his side in an attempt to roll him over. Luckily with Alan’s body being a mostly firm shape he rolled onto his belly not without effort though. Alan became quickly disoriented as his world went tipsy turvy for a moment and he felt all his weight shift and sit on the front of his belly as his was positioned on top of it. Mitch came around to Alan’s face to check on him Alan’s face was not spared from the weight gain, his cheeks were puffed out and rosy, and even under the beard Mitch could see a massive double chin making Alan’s face way rounder than at the start of the night. Mitch came up to Alan’s face looked him in his eyes cupped his fat check with one hand and grabbed the back of his head with his other hand pulling him into a deep and passionate kiss where Alan couldn’t help but suck and bite on Mitch’s juicy lips. Mitch broke the kiss so they could come up for air.
Mitch: You look absolutely stunning!
Alan could practically see stars in Mitch’s eyes at how much he lusted for Alan in his current globular form. Mitch made his way to the back of Alan’s body and found what he was looking, just as Mitch had hoped Alan’s ass was gigantic and sexy. Two big bubbles for an ass perfect for Mitch to have his way with. With Alan’s ass higher in the air than he needed it to be he grabbed onto the still perky cheeks and pulled them down rocking Alan’s whole body rising his head higher as his butt lowered. Now being at the right angle Mitch latched onto Alans backside and began to insert himself into Alan. And the fun began again Alan began to moan and grunt in time with Mitch’s thrustings throwing him into a frenzy of stimulation both from being penetrated and the newfound sensitivity coming from his overblown and stretched body. Alan couldn’t help but want to try and thrust back at Mitch wanting him deeper inside him, however this only resulted in rocking his round body till he rolled back over bringing Mitch still inside Alan’s ass higher into the air. Now Mitch was riding him again only this time the ride was getting more intense. Alan could feel his body reaching its limit, the skin across his belly was becoming itchy and pink and suddenly stretch marks began to pop up all across his belly he could feel his skin losing the battle as his stretch marks were increasing accompanied by a sound similar to the tearing of fabric. Alan went silent only being able to pant as his breaths were shortening and he focused on trying to will his body to keep stretching. Mitch continued to go to town thrust after thrust and the occasional slap that lead to more stretch marks on Alan. Just before Mitch was about to cum the door opened, it was the bartender getting ready to close up and then he was greeted by a sight he will never forget. Mitch was riding a blimp covered in tears and almost reaching the 9ft ceiling.
Bartender: WHAT THE!!!!!!!
Before he could finish his sentence Mitch let out a deep guttural scream as he released his massive shot of cum into Alan’s over blown body, right when he did Alan’s eyes went wide and crossed as his whole body jolted out in every direction one last time.
BOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The sound sent the bartender flying back through the door and into the hallway. When he got back up all that was left was naked Mitch lying on the floor sweaty and exhausted, he looked over at the bartender with a tired smirk.
Mitch: You got any more of those turbo drinks?
Later that night
The bartender after having cleaned up and sending Mitch on his way not knowing what else to do since nobody would believe what he saw. He picked up his phone and dialed a number stored in the register.
Operator: Turbo distribution headquarters how can I help you?
Bartender: You mind explaining why the hell a customer blimped up and exploded after having one of y’all’s drinks?!?!?
Operator:……. Hold please.

Star Trek: Discovery - ‘Brother’ Review
Tumblr media
"Space: The Final Frontier. Above us, around us, within us. We have always looked to the stars to discover who we are."
By nature I love brevity: Star Trek: Discovery takes a long, clean breath of fresh air in this big, bold premiere that sheds the burdens of Season One and lets them roll down the hill behind.
Star Trek: Enterprise was canceled in 2005. And in the Fall of that year, as shows premiered, fans were faced with a sad reality: for the first time in 28 years, a new season of Star Trek was not among them. And for 12 years, this continued. And then we Discovered a new frontier. Breaking the silence of more than a decade, Star Trek: Discovery was a sign that Trek was not dead.
But of course, it was not without its flaws. Discovery Season One had issues with its tone and its dialogue. The crew, above and beyond their stilted, grandiose speech, rarely seemed like a family, or even a group of people who like each other. And the levels of anxiety and brooding were at dangerously high levels. We're talking Superman from Batman v. Superman levels of anxiety and brooding.
The fans pointed out these issues, though the good parts still remained (excepting the 'fans' who actively went out of their way to be openly hostile towards the series, its creators, and its viewers). And the team behind Discovery listened. 'Brother' benefits from a light and relaxed tone that feels like the lifting of a heavy curtain. The crew speaks in a generally human and natural manner, and they work together like a tight family. Brooding is nowhere to be seen, and the anxiety present is of a different sort than the cloud of deep worry that permeated Season One. Instead the viewer felt more of an empathetic concern about the characters and their lives.
The first and most immediate effect of 'Brother' is, in fact, to distance the show from its past mistakes. Associating these issues with the influence of Captain Lorca makes a lot of sense from a story perspective, even if the creators' insistence that all the darker elements were only a result of him doesn't quite sit right. From the outset, Captain Pike makes it clear that he is very different from Lorca. Everything about his manner and bearing suggests a completely different man from Jason Isaacs' power-hungry warmonger. But Pike is no Kirk, either, as one might anticipate. Anson Mount gives his Pike a humility and a grounded feel that Kirk never quite developed.
The other proverbial elephant on the starship is the presence of Spock. Though the adult version of our beloved half-Vulcan does not appear, his importance in the events of 'Brother' and the impact the mere allusion to the character has on the series is clear. We learn that he and Burnham's strained relationship is the result of her decisions, not his. It's clear she views him and his legacy as an oppressive force in her life, perhaps as a standard she could never live up to? There's a great shot that really sums this up, when young Spock makes his holo-dragon. The dragon moves toward Burnham, and roars at her, and Spock walks in through its mouth. I think that's how she sees Spock.
Sarek and Burnham's conversation about reverence also factors in. This show has decided to include a character that most fans undoubtedly have a lot of reverence for. But to make him a useful character, with an arc and a purpose, reverence is not enough. The massive weight of Spock's impact on Star Trek and the fans' adoration of him will be a problem that Discovery will have to deal with.
Moving to our regular cast, I loved how they were dealt with here. The other side of Lorca's effect on the Disco crew is that such a major and personal adversary has brought them together and made them rely on each other. All of the returning cast felt like a family around each other, and their interactions made the ship feel like a real workplace run by a real team. This is a major improvement from last season.
It looks like Burnham's journey this season will be thoroughly intertwined with Spock's. I look forward to seeing her relationship with him and how it develops, but I do hope they give her a role to play apart from and outside of the shadow of her foster brother. Likewise, Stamets seems overshadowed by the impact of someone else. Everything around him reminds him of his lost love Dr. Culber, and he's having a very hard time dealing with it. It seems like the end of this episode was enough to get him at least a little bit excited about science again, though it's unlikely that this is the end of his plotline about leaving the ship. With Wilson Cruz brought on as a full cast member for this season, it'll be interesting to see where this goes.
Tilly and Saru don't seem to have much in the way of an arc yet, but I'm sure this will change. I expect most of Tilly's story this season will have something to do with her enrollment in the Command Training Program. Saru mentioned his sister Siranna, from the Short Trek 'The Brightest Star,' and the showrunners have stated that we may see other Kelpians this season, so expect to see a visit to Saru's home planet of Kaminar sometime in the future. Maybe siblings will continue to be a theme this season.
Overall, 'Brother' was a pretty epic way to kick off the new season. It's fun and engaging, with a lot of potential. I can't wait to see where we go from here.
Strange New Worlds:
This section will record the planets the Disco visits and the places they go. Not a whole lot of that in this particular episode.
New Life and New Civilizations:
Here I'll keep track of all the new species, ideas, and cultures the crew encounters. Again, nothing in the way of that here.
Pensees (Thoughts):
-Mia Kirshner (Amanda) looks a lot like Amy Adams. She also really resembles Amanda from TOS, so that's nice.
-Stamets has a botanist friend aboard the Enterprise.
-In keeping with the Trek tradition of altering the intro, we have some brand new graphics added to the opening theme.
-Regulation 19, Section C allows a higher-ranking officer to take command of a starship in one of three contingencies: 1. An imminent threat; 2. The lives of Federation citizens are in danger; 3. There is no more qualified officer available to deal with the situation.
-I love Doug Jones' Saru walk. It's just so much fun to watch.
-That's the first shot we've gotten of a turbo lift running through a starship in all of Trek, if memory serves. Pretty cool, too.
-Another Alice in Wonderland nod. Also, holo-candles.
-Sarek mentioned that he's reached out to Klingon High Chancellor L'Rell (Mary Chieffo), and she had no explanation for the red bursts either.
-The Captain goes on the away mission, in true Trek tradition.
-There was a bit of Spock's Jellyfish ship from Star Trek (2009) in the design of the pods they flew.
-How cool was the pod sequence? Also, it was admittedly rather satisfying to see Olson Connelly get his comeuppance when he failed to pull his chute crashed and died because of the dumb risk he took.
-One of the ads loaded at the wrong time when I watched this the first time. The long ad break split a shot in half.
-I liked Reno (Tig Notaro). The idea of using an engineering approach to medicine is interesting, although I wouldn't want to be one of the first patients it was tried on.
-The Red Angel is still very much an unknown. I partially expect it will have something to do with the Klingons, if not only because they seem from the trailers to have a big role to play.
-The asteroid material wouldn't beam up. That's intriguing. It may be the key to fixing the spore drive, too, as it looks from the trailer that we'll be jumping again this season.
-'Not every cage is a prison, nor every loss eternal.' That's very interesting, and it has a lot of significance for Pike.
-It makes sense that the crew of the Enterprise would have issues with sitting out the war while on their five-year mission.
-The Disco's new Doctor is named Dr. Pollard.
-One of the names in the credits was 'Matt Decker.'
-A lot of references to faith/religion and related subjects in this episode. I don't think it's necessarily significant, but I thought it was worth noting.
-Alex Kurtzman directed this episode. I thought he did a great job; maybe he should stick to that instead of the whole coming up with ideas thing. I'm still baffled by the seriously weird and unsettling bits about Klingon anatomy from Season One.
Quotes:
Amanda: "I bless you, Michael... all my life."
Pike: "Do not covet thy neighbor's starship, Commander."
Pike: "Why didn't we think of that, Connelly? Think of all the syllables that gave their lives."
Pike: "Sometimes it's wise to keep your expectations low, Commander. That way we're never disappointed." Advice to the audience, perhaps?
Tilly: "I put her in a Utility closet, and I put you in there. I'm drunk on power."
Stamets: "Tilly, you are... incandescent. You're going to become a magnificent Captain because you do everything out of love. But I need you to repeat after me. I will say..." Tilly: "I will say..." Stamets: "Fewer things." Tilly: "Fewer thi- okay."
Sarek: "Spock has great reverence for his mother, but reverence tends to-" Burnham: "Fill up the room." It's the shot of Burnham's fairly empty quarters just as she interrupts that sells this one.
Pike: "Detmer - fly... good."
Pike: "I was expecting a red thing. Where's my damn red thing?"
Pike: "Spock asked the most amazing questions. It's completely logical, yet somehow able to make everyone see that logic was the beginning of the picture and not the end."
Burnham: "There are so many things I wish I'd said to you; so many things I want to say now. I'm too late, aren't I? I can only pray I don't lose you again... brother."
A strong, solid premiere. 5 out of 6 damn red things.
CoramDeo is interested in things.

Power Rangers Turbo E24 – Vanishing Act
Recap
Right from the start, Bulk and Skull have turned in resumes to join the mafia. So I guess this is what’s happening now.
Tumblr media
The guy isn’t even eating the walnuts. He has a giant bowl of walnuts on his desk just so he can crush them and let the nuts and shell pieces splay out all over the floor and desk. And he does this multiple times in the span of a thirty second conversation. He’s making a disgusting mess of this office for the sake of repeating an implicit threat to Bulk and Skull’s testicles over and over throughout the meeting.
While that’s happening, Carlos, T.J., Justin, and Nico are all playing basketball in the park with some other kids. Justin lines up a shot, but the ball and backboard both vanish in a puff of smoke. All unnamed kids vanish shortly afterwards as well.
Tumblr media
“There’s only one force in the universe that could be doing this. It’s the studio! They’re slashing our budget so we can’t afford props or extras anymore.”
“Wait, then why was Nico spared?”
“…huh. I guess this means he’s going to become the Phantom Ranger in a couple episodes! Hey Nico, congratulations on the promotion!”
Tumblr media
“Whoops, never mind. Sorry, Nico! Guess you were just a nobody after all!”
“Well, this is obviously aliens,” Justin says. He snatches the Turbo Navigator out of his backpack before everyone’s bags go up in smoke too.
“What’s that?” T.J. asks.
“Oh yeah, I never showed you guys this.” Justin flips the Turbo Navigator open. “This thing can pick up the location of any aliens or alien tech anywhere on the planet.”
“Wait, how long have you guys had this?!” Carlos asks. “Couldn’t we use that to track down Divatox’s base and then go jump her?”
“Yeah, Kat said the same thing,” Justin says. “Tommy said we can’t ‘cause it’s breaking the rules.”
“Rule Two,” T.J. recites proudly. “Never escalate a battle unless Rita forces you to. I think ‘Rita’ is like an alien slang term for hostile invaders or something.”
“Something like that,” Justin says.
While Justin’s trying to figure out what’s happening, this asshole wastes no time introducing himself to random citizens exiting the Youth Center.
Tumblr media
Oh, I think I’ve caught this Pokemon!
He identifies himself as the Great Translucitor, then proceeds to vanish everybody and makes his getaway.
Of course, this blatant alien activity in Angel Grove is picked up by the Command Center. Dimitria explains that Translucitor is stealing the city, bit by bit, and shifting it into an alternate dimension. Alpha calls T.J. and tells him to get the boys over to the Youth Center immediately.
He doesn’t call Cassie or Ashley because they’re already there. Cassie and Ashley are grading random passersby on their fuckability. “What about that guy?” Cassie asks regarding a man in a tank top passing their table.
“Mm, I give him a 6?” Ashley says. “I mean, he’s decent but he has green hair. Like, why have green hair?”
Cassie’s taken aback by this. “Fine, be vanilla as fuck.”
Offended, Ashley asks, “What, you aren’t turned off by green hair?!”
Cassie scoffs. Actual dialogue, “What’s wrong with green hair? All the girls in my band had green hair for weeks.”
“Oh,” Ashley says. “Oh! I didn’t realize you were….”
“What?” Ashley’s implication dawns on Cassie. “Hey, I didn’t say I was fucking any of them.”
“I mean, you kinda implied from the context that—"
“Casual flings do not count!” Cassie snaps. “Besides, you now how it goes. You’re at a party, there’s alcohol flowing, one thing leads to another….”
Ashley takes a sip from her smoothie to disguise the giant smirk on her face.
“Shut up!” Cassie snaps.
“I didn’t say anything,” Ashley says with a huge fuckoff grin. “So. Circling back. Aside from drunk flings that may or may not have been with one gender or the other, what are you looking for? What gets Cassie Chan’s Turbo Engine revving to go?”
“That was awful,” Cassie says. “You’re buying the next round for that.”
“Answer the question,” Ashley says cheerfully.
Cassie groans. “It’s a stupid question. I like the same stuff everyone else does. Tall, handsome, slightly visible, polite. Why are we talking about this?!”
Fortunately, Cassie is spared from any further conversation by the sudden arrival of Bulk and Skull, the newest Bunny Enforcers of the Birthday Mafia.
Tumblr media
“Yo, I better be hearin’ about a happy birthday happenin’ up in here. This is a mighty fine carrot cake we got here. It’d be a shame if somethin’ were to happen to it.”
They deliver a carrot cake to a table full of children, but as they’re singing their birthday song, Translucitor’s magic whisks away their cake and their bunny costumers, revealing Bulk and Skull’s preferred choice of boxers to the entire Youth Center.
Tumblr media
“What happened, Bulky?!”
“I don’t think it matters, Skull! Our first job for the Birthday Mafia and we exposed ourselves to a table full of children. If we start driving now, maybe we can hit the border before the Don comes for our walnuts!”
After humiliating Bulk and Skull and earning their imminent demise, Translucitor swipes them. Then the children. Then the rest of the Youth Center patrons. Then the building itself.
Tumblr media
He even takes their smoothies! What a dick!
The boys pull up in Carlos’s car. Not his Turbo car, Desert Thunder, but his regular car. “Okay, what the fuck?!” Carlos exclaims, leaning up from his convertible. “Are we lost or something? I swear, the Youth Center’s supposed to be right here!”
“It was,” Ashley says, approaching the car. “The whole plant just vanished. Oh, I hope wherever Bulk and Skull are, they managed to put pants on. There are children with them.”
T.J. opens his mouth to ask but then decides it’s information he’s happier never possessing. Now that everyone’s together, Alpha calls the team. He gets as far as, “Rangers, Translucitor’s messing with—” and then the signal cuts out.
“Do you think whatever’s happening took them?” Justin asks.
Cassie answers, “I’m more concerned with why it didn’t take us. Maybe the Turbo powers are protecting us?”
Whatever the cause, the Rangers can do nothing but watch helplessly as the entire city of Angel Grove vanishes before their eyes.
Tumblr media
“You guys are seeing this, right? …that wasn’t rhetorical. I’ve had trips like this. I need you guys—”
“Yes, Cassie, this is actually happening.”
“Shit. That means that biker really was hate-fucking Tinky-Winky. Ugh, I knew I should have stopped to help. Sorry, guys, that’s my bad. Power Ranger fail.”
“…Cassie, what did you put in that smoothie?”
“Don’t judge. You don’t know my life.”
“The Youth Center’s gone,” Ashley says, stunned. “The Power Chamber’s gone. The city is gone.”
“What do we do now?” Cassie asks.
Taking charge, T.J. says, “We report in to the Power Chamber!”
“Wait, what?” But T.J.’s already gone.
The other Rangers exchange confused looks, then trigger their teleporters and follow. They arrive on the barren mountain where the Command Center once was to find T.J. staring sheepishly down at his feet. “I, uh, I don’t know what I thought I was going to find,” he admits.
Carlos gives T.J. a playful punch in the shoulder. “It’s cool, man. You’re having brainfarts, Cassie’s doped up to her eyeballs, it’s a weird day.”
“I resent that,” Cassie exclaims from her seat on a rock, pointing at Ashley.
“I guess we can’t count out the possibility that we teleported to the wrong place,” Carlos suggests to spare T.J.’s feelings. “Let’s make sure the teleporters are wired correctly. We can try to teleport to Angel Grove Lake.”
But they are, in fact, in the right place. The Power Chamber is right here, but in the parallel dimension. Alpha can see the Rangers walking around, passing through objects, but has no way to reach out to them.
Tumblr media
The real question here is why Translucitor came over and put some rocks down after vanishing the Command Center.
The Rangers teleport to Angel Grove Lake and sure enough, that right there is definitely a lake. As the Rangers ponder their predicament, beneath the waves, Divatox celebrates her success. Translucitor has not been shifting things into an alternate dimension as Dimitria claimed but is instead turning everything invisible! If the city is invisible, the Rangers can’t protect it! They can loot Angel Grove to their heart’s content.
And it’s not just the city that Translucitor’s made invisible….
Up on the beach, Justin’s checking the Turbo Navigator again. “Wow,” he says. “I’m getting several readings.”
Everyone comes to look over his shoulder at the sonar display. There’s four readings to their right. Four to their left. Five ahead of them. Five more. Another six. “I’ve never seen so many readings!” Justin exclaims, excited.
“This thing tracks aliens, right?” Cassie asks nervously.
“And alien material, yeah.”
“So all of those blips moving towards us would be aliens, then.”
“Right? Where are you….” Justin looks up from the display, suddenly realizing. “Oh.”
T.J. gives the command. “Shift into Turbo!”
Tumblr media
“Fucking hell!”
“What is it?! Did something attack you?!”
“No, just… lots of light, lots of loud noises. Ugh, morphing is the worst way to come down.”
T.J. instructs the team to watch the footprints in the sand. If they pay close attention, they should be able to track the invisible Piranhatrons and then—
Everyone promptly gets the shit kicked out of them. Because this is not an anime and they can’t just listen really hard until they psychically sense the Piranhatrons’ ki, creating glowing auras around the invisible fighters and allowing them to counter them. Fighting an invisible person is very hard. Fighting two dozen is an exercise in futility.
Fortunately, the Phantom Ranger arrives! He’s invisible, so he can see invisible Piranhatrons because that’s how invisibility works! I guess! The Phantom blitzes through the Piranhatrons, leaving piles of invisible wreckage strewn across the beach. That’s a safety hazard!
With the Piranhatrons defeated, the Phantom reveals himself to the only Ranger he actually cares about.
Tumblr media
“Hey, uh, before you go, we-we-we should talk. What, uh, what… what gets your Turbo Engine revving? Goddammit, Ashley, that’s literally all I can think of now.”
The Phantom stands before Cassie, watching her stand up. “Do you have a name?” Cassie asks “Something people can call you? A moniker to answer to? Is it Thomas? Or Franklin? Bob Hope?”
The Phantom turns and walks away stoically, refusing to even acknowledge Cassie’s question. “Is your name Jizzpipe?!” Cassie shouts at him. “Because that’s what it’s going to be if you don’t fucking give me something!” The Phantom shifts into cloaking mode and vanishes from the beach.
Carlos notices a reflection in the lake that reveals Angel Grove still exists. The Rangers track the invisible Piranhatrons into the city, garnering Divatox’s attention. Translucitor volunteers to keep the Rangers busy while Divatox ransacks the city to her heart’s content. So, uh, same thing he’d be doing if the city wasn’t invisible, then.
Translucitor jumps the Rangers just for the sake of mocking them. “Catch me now, fuckers!” he declares and then turns himself invisible, defeating the purpose of distracting them.
T.J. scratches his helmet. “Well that was mildly annoying.” Suddenly an idea comes to him. “Wait a minute, didn’t Lightning Cruiser and Storm Blaster have tracking systems? Really, really advanced tracking systems that put the Command Center tech to shame?”
They summon the cars and take off into the invisible city. Cassie rides with T.J. while Ashley and Carlos pile into Storm Blaster with Justin. Cassie is haunted by translucent images of Translucitor that only she can see.
Tumblr media
“T.J., look! Is that him?”
“…where? That’s an open stretch of field.”
“No, he’s right there! He’s floating down the road keeping pace with us!”
“Cassie, are you sure you really came down?”
“Oh my god, are we actually having this conversation now?!”
Cassie and T.J. continue to scream at each other until they crash straight into Storm Blaster, ejecting all passengers because not a single fucking Ranger was wearing their seatbelt. Tommy would be ashamed of everybody right now.
T.J., Justin, and Carlos get up and pursue Translucitor into the field. Ashley starts to do the same, but then she notices Cassie doubled over beside Lightning Cruiser. “Are you okay?” Ashley asks.
“No!” Cassie shouts. “Why am I even here?!”
“Cassie….” Ashley approaches her sympathetically.
Cassie shoots up a hand to stop her. “No, it’s fine. I got it. We’re being attacked by aliens again because Angel Grove is terrible. Let’s go do our jobs.” Cassie rejects Ashley’s offer of a hand up and pulls herself to her feet using the door of Lightning Cruiser. “Now where are the—”
The girls see T.J., Justin, and Carlos piled unceremoniously in a steel cage twenty feet away from them.
Tumblr media
“How did that even happen?!”
“Honestly, your guess is as good as ours.”
“Okay,” Cassie says with a sigh. “Apparently this is happening now.” Cassie and Ashley crouch down into the brush to gain a stealth bonus and wait for Translucitor to show himself. Unfortunately, the speed penalty from crouch-walking is too great and they aren’t able to get in position before the pirate appears.
Translucitor throws a cloth over the cage and makes them vanish. Then he disappears himself, leaving Ashley and Cassie alone. “Shit!” Ashley exclaims. “This is bad. How are we even supposed to keep up with these illusions?”
Cassie grabs her shoulder, suddenly realizing. “You’re right. These are illusions. Nothing we’re seeing and hearing is real. We can’t trust what our senses are telling us.”
“So what do we do?” Ashley asks.
“First thing we need to do is ground ourselves in what’s real. We’re going to see things that aren’t there, and we’re going to not see things that are. We need friends we can trust to talk us through. It’s not ideal, but that’s going to have to be you and me for each other right now. And we need something stable, something we can trust.” An idea comes to her. “Let’s go check out Storm Blaster!”
The girls head for the truck. Sure enough, Cassie’s hunch proves correct. The Turbo Navigator is sitting in the driver’s seat, right where Justin left it. Ashley pops it open and the girls take a couple minutes to figure out how it works through trial and error. Then they get a hit. One alien signal nearby.
Cassie and Tanya head into the woods, chasing Translucitor’s signal. They hear his laughter around them and draw their pistols. “Back to back,” Cassie says. “Weapons like these are extremely dangerous right now. If we aren’t careful, we have a very high risk of shooting each other. We have to stay close and move together.”
The girls step cautiously through the wood, maintaining contact with one another while scanning for Translucitor. Then they hear a voice cry out. “Augh! Motherfucker! What the hell?!”
Cassie and Ashley holster their guns and race through the woods, holding hands to counter the risk of losing one another to the hallucinogenic pirate. They come to a clearing and find Translucitor on his back while the Phantom Ranger stomps on his face.
Unfortunately, the Phantom is quickly distracted by the sudden arrival of the pretty ladies. He uncloaks and stands frozen in place, staring at the Rangers while Translucitor gets up and flees into the woods.
Tumblr media
Oh, so that’s why he won’t say anything. He’s not being stoic or anything. He’s just so socially awkward that he panics, blue screens, and then is overcome with the urge to flee in the other direction every time Cassie tries to start a conversation with him. He’s not mysterious, he’s just shy.
Cassie watches Translucitor escape while the Phantom Ranger does absolutely nothing to stop him. “Well. Uh. Thanks for trying, Jizzpipe.”
Deeper in the woods, Translucitor has literally tied T.J., Justin, and Carlos to a giant cartoon rocket and is preparing to blast them off into space.
Tumblr media
“You can’t do this! Power Rangers in Space?! That will never go over with the fans.”
“Actually, this is the exploding kind of rocket. It’s just supposed to kill you.”
“…oh. Is it too late to sign a deal for that space show instead?”
But Cassie and Ashley arrive in the nick of time. They lob a sword they found somewhere to break the chains and set the other Rangers free. Enraged, Translucitor vanishes.
“Do you trust me?” Ashley says.
Cassie nods. “I trust you.”
“We’re in the forest. I’m here with you. You’re safe with me. And there is an asshole on your right!”
Cassie launches an elbow catches the invisible Translucitor right in the face. She follows up with a blow to the gut, doubling him over, and then jams her first into his spine to bring his face to the dirt.
Tumblr media
“Hey, did I miss the lau—” Elgar pauses, taking in the scene before him. Then he turns right around and marches his ass straight back out of this episode.
Translucitor vanishes again. “This tree is here,” Ashley says. “The ground is stable. And he’s in that tree right there!” Cassie pulls her pistol and shoots Translucitor. The pirate hurtles backwards out of the tree and lands right on his head.
Translucitor vanishes again and the Rangers regroup. “Great work,” T.J. says. “Both of you. That was amazing teamwork.”
“Yup!” Cassie says. “And we owe it all to drugs!” Cassie grins through her helmet and shoots T.J. two thumbs up while T.J. groans and buries his face in his hands.
Suddenly, Ashley shouts, “Hey guys! Did you know this thing has a gun mode?”
“Wait, what?!” Justin exclaims. Ashley unfolds the Turbo Navigator into a fucking pistol. “How long has it been able to do that?!”
Tumblr media
“Seriously, there’s a whole storage room in the Command Center filled with tech manuals that have the word ‘Zeo’ written on them. How is it that we consistently know so little about our Turbo gear?! What the hell changed between then and now?!”
“Oh, cool,” Ashley says. “It has a lock-on feature.” She selects Translucitor’s signal and then fires a single bullet, which whips and curves around town until it finds him hiding in the same sneaking bushes from earlier and slams right into his forehead.
Translucitor tries to turn invisible again, so they plug the Turbo Navigator Pistol into T.J.’s pistol and shoot him again, this time with more force.
Divatox realizes this isn’t working out. She fires torpedoes and the Rangers deploy Turbo Megazord. Then, out of fucking nowhere, the Blue Senturion shows up in Robo Racer. Robo Racer seriously moves Turbo Megazord aside like, “Fear not, citizens! This menace who has just emerged will soon know the wrath of—where’d he go?”
From cover of stealth, Translucitor shoots Robo Racer several times. The mech crumples over in a heap. Turbo Megazord takes a moment to stare down at him as if to say, “That’s about right.” Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy.
With that nonsense over, Cassie plugs the Turbo Navigator into her console and directs the team where to punch. The Turbo Megazord plays peekaboo with Translucitor’s balls until he can barely stand anymore.
“And I helped too!” Blue Senturion declares, shooting Robo Racer’s pistol to break Translucitor’s staff. Before Translucitor can react, the Megazord cleaves him in two.
With the alien threat disposed of, Cassie and Ashley return to the Youth Center. True to her word, Cassie makes Ashley buy their strawberry sundaes. Cassie pulls a small flask from her bag, then notices Ashley staring and rolls her eyes. “It’s just booze.”
Ashley raises her hands. “Whatever helps you cope. T.J. still wants to talk to you, but I know you didn’t exactly want to be here.”
“I don’t even live in Angel Grove,” Cassie vents. “The only reason I’m even here is because teleporting makes the commute stupid easy. Those teleporters go offline, y’all are on your own, I’m just saying.”
“You don’t mean that,” Ashley says. “Thank you. I don’t know where we’d be today without you.” Cassie dives into her sundae and Ashley recognizes the need for a change of subject. “So. Tall, handsome, slightly visible? You wouldn’t happen to have a particular somebody in mind, would you?”
“You forgot polite,” Cassie says, stabbing her spoon into her ice cream. “And if you’re talking about Jizzpipe, you’re buying more than ice cream. That was a sampler list. There are other important things too like ‘possession of vocal cords’ or ‘not being a spooky alien asshole’. There are plenty of fish in the sea, and there are plenty of seas on this planet.”
Ashley takes a bite of her own sundae. “And is that meant to convince me or you?”
Flustered, Cassie opens her mouth, then closes it again and pretends to be very distracted by the tasty treat in front of her. Fortunately, Bulk and Skull suddenly arrive dressed in superhero costumes.
Tumblr media
“Hey, can we pretend it’s your birthday real quick?”
“If it murders this conversation with a rusty hatchet, I’ll go along with anything you want. But if your dicks come out, there will be stabbing. We have forks. Don’t test us.”
Just before the boys can begin their routine, Skull notices a loose thread on Bulk’s costume. He pulls it, causing the entire outfit to drop away. Bulk retaliates by tearing Skull’s clothes off. Then, suddenly, they both notice their boss standing in the corner with murder in his eyes. Then they notice Cassie sitting in front of them, brandishing her fork. So they do the only responsible thing and flee for their lives. The end.
The Good
Tumblr media
Okay, that birthday mafia shit was great. Bulk and Skull’s spooky interview turning out to just be for birthday cake singing delivery was funny, and then the universe fucking them sideways in the middle of trying to do that job was hilarious.
I’m often irritated by episodes that feel the need to punish Bulk and Skull without giving them something to do that deserves punishment. Sometimes they get a comeuppance for being shitheads and other times they just seem to get a comeuppance without actually earning one, just ‘cause it’s funny. I like the former, but get annoyed with the latter.
But this shit was funny enough that I can overlook that.
Also, the arbitrary order in which everything disappeared was great. I love that Translucitor came back for Cassie and Ashley’s smoothies. That’s petty as fuck and I’m here for it.
Speaking of Translucitor, I didn’t expect there to be a good explanation for why the Rangers seemed immune to the random vanishing of everything. But actually, it makes sense. The vanishing was targeted, rather than passive, and Divatox specifically wanted to avoid the Rangers being snatched up in it. That’s a perfectly reasonable explanation.
Unfortunately, it’s about the only reasonable thing about how Translucitor’s powers worked. Let’s put a pin in that.
The Ranger battle was entertaining and creative. It also gave the girls a chance to really shine. Kat was regularly screwed out of solo fight scenes, getting her face beat in during Zeo in fights that seemed like they were meant to be her moment to shine. But here, Cassie and Ashley did the lion’s share of taking down Translucitor. That was nice to see.
The Bad
Tumblr media
Alright, let’s take that pin out. Dimitria says that Translucitor is shifting everything to an alternate dimension. Divatox claims that Translucitor is making things invisible. These are contradictory explanations and neither actually works.
If they’re in an alternate dimension, then Alpha shouldn’t be able to see the Rangers walking around the Power Chamber. The Piranhatrons shouldn’t be able to attack the Rangers. And Phantom Ranger certainly shouldn’t be able to see them just fine.
If they’re invisible, then the Rangers shouldn’t be able to just walk through objects like they weren’t there. Why can Cassie step through the Power Chamber console and walk through Alpha, but Piranhatrons can punch her in the face and she, too, can wallop Translucitor? Are things affected by Translucitor’s power intangible or not, show?
Both explanations fail to satisfactorily explain what we saw. And either way, those rocks jutting up out of the mountain into the Power Chamber make negative sense. Why are those even there? They’re rocks. They serve no valuable purpose in the show. The only thing they do, the only function they serve, is simultaneously disproving all possible explanations of Translucitor’s powers at once. I think this might be the first Power Rangers episode ever to have its entire plot unraveled by set design.
The whole Power Chamber scene is bad, really. Why it happens is bad; the Rangers decide to try teleporting to the Power Chamber after they already know it’s gone. What happens is bad; lots of contradictions that screw up the metaphysics of the episode. It adds nothing to the episode; the Rangers give up, decide they teleported to the wrong place (because they’re too stupid to realize the Power Chamber vanished too), and leave.
Nothing actually happens in this scene. But over the course of all that nothing that was happening, they caused irreparable harm to the consistency of the episode. This is a parasitic scene that should have been left on the cutting room floor.
Best Ranger: Ashley Hammond, Yellow Ranger
Tumblr media
Once Ashley got the Turbo Navigator away from Justin, everything fell into place. She was a baller with the Navigator and even unlocked a new gun feature. Yeah, somehow nobody’s noticed that the Turbo Navigator is a gun until Ashley was just like, “Hey, what’s this shit do?”
Now I wonder what other features their gear has that Zordon couldn’t be arsed to tell anybody about before fucking off to Eltar.
Worst Ranger: Jizzpipe, the Phantom Ranger
Tumblr media
I love how he saved the day by jumping Translucitor. And then got so freaked out by Cassie and Ashley showing up that he let Translucitor escape, fled into the woods, and never returned for the rest of the battle.
This guy has some social anxiety problems. He needs to work on that. It’s actively interfering with his work.

We Can Make It
A Wreck It Ralph Fanfiction from five years ago
Chapter Ten
The next few days following her little talk with her cousin were emotionally trying and exhausting, but not entirely unpleasant. It took them all of three days to make it through the photo album, with how often they would stop at one particular memory and flesh it out together, laughing, sighing, just embracing their backstories.
Remembering when she decided to leave her town was something that stuck out to her in particular. Her parents had been so angry and out of ideas on how to get her to behave that they managed to wrench the brush and bucket out of her hands. They might as well have torn off one of her limbs, she had thought, recalling just how naked and grounded she felt without it. Locked up in her room, curled up under her bed, she had waited feverishly for her mother and father to return home from “getting rid of” her most prized possession. It was for her own good, they had told her. That it was keeping her from focusing on important things, whatever those were, and that without it, she would be able to really find success in her life.
She had always thought that lesson was particularly harsh for a seven-year-old.
When her parents came home, it was quite obvious that they were not going to let her out for the rest of the night. They must have known that the second she smelled freedom, she would be out searching each and every corner of the town, leaping through the woods, turning everything upside-down, looking for her precious brush. She found it cute how they thought sending her to bed without dinner would keep her from going on said search.
Maybe they had forgotten about the window next to her bed. Or, perhaps they did not think that she would risk jumping out of it without her metaphorical safety blanket. That particular night was remembered fondly as when she decided that windows were far better than doors.
Her brush and bucket had been dumped clumsily out in the middle of the tight, thick forest. Finding it was worlds easier than she had anticipated. It was practically one of her limbs, after all, and how hard could it be to find something that was a part of her?
The sun was barely beginning to wake as she stood atop a hill overlooking her town, making a decision that she was far too young to face. She had to leave, and she was not going to be coming back. She cut and colored her hair, made new clothes, even changed the color of her eyes. And as she gripped her brush, her classic winged shoes on her little feet, she came to another decision. She rather liked the name “Mavis”.
And before she could force herself to leave, she orchestrated a literal storm of color over the cold, stone walls of her hometown. Though she never did return to the lands drenched in a spectrum, she did find herself with the knowledge that she was henceforth referred to there as merely “the Rainbow Girl.”
After lapping up that memory with the occasional gag and cough, Make-It promised herself that she would not let her existence end before seeing another storm like that one.
Spending time with Felix, unfortunately, meant spending time with several of the residents of Niceland, and she ended up becoming more familiar with them than she would have liked. They were small, twitchy, curious and strange people. So very simple in their everyday lives, so one-dimensional. Conversing with them felt very similar to talking with particularly boring chunks of drywall.
It greatly unsettled her, the way they worshipped her cousin. Turbo’s fans were horrendous, sure, but completely mindless. These people could clearly think (to some extent), but all their thoughts seemed centered around Felix. It seemed as if Fix-It-Felixism was their religion, and anything remotely suggesting that he was not the savior of Nicelanderkind offended each of them on a personal level. It was just all kinds of disturbing and creepy.
On the upside, though, they made some pretty great pie, and sometimes Felix shared a piece or two with her.
On the third night, a few of the residents were seated with her and Felix, and each of them had their own slice of steaming, moist apple pie. Eating it in a dignified fashion felt like stretching a muscle she did not know she had, and still, every movement she made earned her a perplexed and slightly shocked look from the portly little people. With a sigh, she gave up attempting to appear as a good-mannered guest and scooped up the oozing treat into her mouth mercilessly.
It took all of her effort not to scream in protest when Felix said that he would be right back. Please, she wanted to beg, please, do not leave me alone with them.
Once he did, the most awkward silence that she had ever experienced settled over the room. One of the little women, however, grinned a tiny, sneaky grin and leaned towards Make-It slightly.
“So,” she cooed, “have you and Felix been together since you were just little tykes?”
Make-It pressed her lips together, contemplating if she should speak through a mouthful of pie. She decided that, yes, this was most definitely acceptable. “Kind of,” she grunted, muffled. “I sorta started living with—well, not with, but, uh, near him when I was pretty little. Littler, anyway.”
The woman laughed cheerily, but Make-It could tell how forced it was. “Oh, go on, tell us what he was like! Was he just as heroic as he is now? Did he treat you like a little sister? Did he fix up your knees when you skinned them? Oh, I bet he got you out of all sorts of trouble!”
Make-It took a long while to just stare at this riddle of a woman, her brows knit together, her cheeks still stuffed with dessert. After several slow blinks, she forced out, “Who are you?”
The lady twitched back a bit, offended, but still smiling in a sickly permanent way. “Diana.”
“Okay,” she finally swallowed. “Diana, are you into my cousin?”
“What?”
“Felix. Are you romantically inclined towards him. Wanna go out with him. Dance, drink, wake up lost and naked. That sort of thing?”
“Oh,” her eyes widened, and she looked around at the others robotically, and they all sported the same horrified, flushed look on their faces. “Oh! Oh, goodness! Wow, I! Uh, no!”
“No?”
She swallowed, her head vibrating in an unnatural shake. “No, of course not!”
“Then why,” she put her hands up slightly, as if presenting the idea to her on a platter, “oh, why, do you even need to know any of this?”
Diana’s brows lowered. “Well, I never--! I was just trying to make conversation!”
“Make it with something else.”
“Fine. Let’s talk about you, then,” she folded her arms. “Are you really related to Felix?”
“You’re still talking about my cousin,” she pointed out, setting her plate on the seat next to her and crossing her legs.
“Ohhh!” The little nugget of a woman shook with frustration. “Are you always this impossible?”
“Yes,” she nodded briefly.
“Alright, then, tell me this. What do you do all cooped up in the basement, day and night?” Her eyes narrowed suspiciously.
“Make things. That’s pretty much it, actually. I don’t spend as much time down there as you would think.”
Diana lifted her head, peering down her tiny stub of a nose at her. “Really? Where do you go?”
Make-It felt her impish grin slowly crawl over her face. Glancing around at each disapproving face, she knew she could play these people like fat little fiddles. “Usually Tapper’s.”
“Tapper’s?”
“It’s a bar.” As she expected, they looked between each other, clicking their tongues and shaking their heads. “Only the best bar in existence. Just a few gulps and I don’t know what’s up or down.”
“So you get drunk.” Diana deadpanned.
“Wasted, is more like it. Dance and sing on the tables, get the place in an uproar. And I do that until I’m thrown out or taken home by whoever will have me. And when I wake up, I figure out which game I’m in, usually whose bed I’m in, and come home when the arcade opens.”
It took all of her effort not to laugh outright at their little gasps of horror. Diana practically bounced in her seat indignantly. “And you thought I wanted to do that with your cousin?!”
“Heck, I’D do that with my cousin.” She winked, and immediately regretted making that joke. Her stomach did not find it funny at all. The way the Nicelanders shrieked, though, made it worth it. “No, no I wouldn’t. That’s disgusting. Besides, he’s not my type.”
“I should hope that I never encounter one of your type,” one of the others remarked coldly, setting his pie aside as if it were dirty.
“What makes you so sure YOU’RE not my type, hmm?”
“I couldn’t be further from your type,” he spat, folding his arms.
Running through possible retorts, she suddenly remembered Turbo, and how it had been a few days since she had seen him. The way he kept reaffirming the fact that she was coming back struck a guilty note in her heart. A few days is a long time to go without seeing your only friend, she thought with a bit of a frown.
“Sorry to disappoint you,” the little man continued, seeing her mouth pull down.
“What?” She tilted her head. “Oh. Yeah, right, that’s too bad, you seem like a ladykiller. Or something. Hmm.”
“What is it now?”
“Hmm, sorry, just thinking about someone.”
“One of your ‘type’?”
“Uh,” her face tingled with uncomfortable heat. “No, I don’t know, just, this, uh, you don’t know him. Turbo-Time. Racer. Real cuss, almost as much as I am.”
“Hmph,” Diana huffed slightly, looking at her plate scathingly. “He sounds perfect for you. I’m so happy.”
She squeaked in her throat, suddenly finding herself standing, words falling out of her mouth. “I don’t know if I like what you’re implying and I don’t want to figure it out if I do while you’re watching. No more implying and watching. Leaving. Bye.” She strode over to the window, pushing it open and sitting on the sill just in time for Felix to round the corner and enter the room. He paused, taking in everyone’s positions and expressions, and sighed.
Make-It smirked a little at how he did not even have to ask what happened.
“Alright,” he breathed, waving at her. “Seeya, Mavy.”
“Uh,” she lifted a hand out to him, prompting him to curiously come over and let her squeeze his fingers.  “Sorry about the mess.”
“What mess?”
“You’ll find out,” her eyes shifted. “I told them some things.”
“Oh, dear,” he sighed again, his shoulders slumping.
“Yeah,” she squeaked, “Sorry, cuz. And, uh, thanks for the pie.” Her eyes drifted to the stout figures seated not too far away, all watching and attempting to hear her. A tricky impulse whipped at her back, and she could not miss another chance to mess with them. She yanked her cousin closer, pressing her thumbs over his mouth and swiftly kissing them. Thankfully, she managed to not actually make any contact with his lips.
The Nicelanders squealed out high gasps and Felix squirmed out of her grip, spluttering and gently whacking her hands away. “Blech, Mavy! What was that?”
Her maniacal laughter made an apology almost impossible, but, still, she had to attempt it as she leaned out of the window. “Sorry, cuz, I just had to freak them out! They deserve it!”
As she fell from the sill, painting rockets onto her feet, Felix leaned out of the window. “Are you going to Turbo’s?”
“Yeah,” she called back, swirling through the air to hover about ten feet away from him. “I figure I should pay him a visit, ‘cause… I don’t know, I just feel like I should.”
“Alright,” Felix nodded. “Go ahead. I’ll fix, uh, this.” He glanced back at the twittering, gossiping people.
“I’m sorry,” she giggled. “Really.” She pulled off one of her gloves and wiped her tongue with her fingers, spitting a bit. It was a stage kiss, of course, but she had still practically kissed her cousin. Her stomach could not be less amused, and it did not miss a second to let her know. She could picture herself lying awake and regretting that moment for the next few weeks. She would just have to try to focus more on how priceless the Nicelanders’ expressions were. Even Felix’s reaction was a riot. “That was actually pretty dumb. I just had the uncontrollable urge to be a cuss.”
Felix shook his head, exasperated. It really was difficult to not feel bad for leaving him with such a mess to clean up. “Go on, Mavy,” he waved her off slightly, nearly hitting his head on the window as he leaned back inside, “don’t worry about it.”
“Well, alright. Toodles,” she saluted as she turned away, spiralling down to the subway port to fly on through to Game Central Station.
Not before getting stopped by the Surge Protector, of course.
“Name,” he began as usual, the little light fixture above his head buzzing a low and bored note.
Landing with a sigh, Make-It flapped her arms against her sides and rocked on her heels. “Make-It Mavis. Fix-It Felix Jr. Turbo-Time. No. And…” she glanced around as she pre-emptively answered his questions, watching her various neighbors stroll by in the fluorescent light, and her gaze fell on something she had not noticed before. On the far end of the station, opposite the massive, glowing, makeshift windows, was a port. It did not have the golden walls of a plug, but it looked much more like a circular subway port to a game itself. It was shadowed and desolate; none of the characters strayed anywhere near it.
She looked to the Surge Protector, who looked thoroughly unimpressed with the way she answered before he could ask. With a slow, tired blink, he managed to get in the last question, “Anything to declare..?”
“What’s that port, over there?” She jerked her head in the direction of the dark tunnel.
His translucent eyes fell to his clipboard. “That’s the wall port. It leads to the wall socket that powers the whole station. Don’t go through it.”
“Why not?”
“For your own safety.”
“What’s in the wall socket?”
He glanced up at her from beneath his furrowed brow. “It’s not safe for game characters.”
“Will I die if I go through there?”
“I strongly advise against it.”
“I see…” She pressed her lips together. As irritating as the see-through little man was, he knew a whole lot more about electrical safety than she did. Shoving her curiosity into the back of her mind, she nodded briefly. “Alright, agreed, it’s off limits.”
“Very good,” he deadpanned, looking back down at his clipboard. “Carry on.”
Not a second after he fizzled out of sight, she was back in the air, shooting down the Turbo-Time port and spinning cheerily. The wind whistled in her ears down the dimly-lit tunnel, and the bright light of the console stung her eyes as she twirled in, a curious sound prompting her to stop just above the tram station.
Even from the farthest corner of the console, she could hear the pulse of music echoing from Turbo’s mansion. It was a wonder that the entire building was not literally jumping, though she did know first-hand how the entire structure rattled with the bass.
No wonder the NPCs had trouble sleeping. She snorted a bit, smirking and shaking her head.
Her heart nearly burst when she felt a tight, bony grip clamp down on her ankles, and before she could register what happened, she was trying desperately to rocket away. A completely murderous-looking blue racer hung beneath her as she swayed dangerously in the air, his sharp fingers clawing up her leg and dragging her down. There was one on the ground, leaping up to grab his partner’s feet and aid in the effort of grounding her.
“HOLY CUSS, LET GO!” She writhed in the air, her balance being thrown in all directions.
“C’MERE FOR A SEC, ‘TOOTS’,” the first one snarled, his fingers only digging deeper into her. “WE JUST WANT TO SORT SOME THINGS OUT.”
She was not buying it at all, considering she had seen friendlier faces on hungry wolves. “Somehow, I don’t think that means you want to talk!”
“OH, WE DO! THAT’S ALL WE WANT, AND THEN YOU’RE FREE TO GO!”
She bucked and tugged and rolled in every way she could, dragging both men against the ground, aiming her jets at his face any chance she had. Before she could land a hit, one of his rough talon-fingers tore her right shoe clear off. It shot away into the air like a bottle rocket, its screech fading out, leaving her with the horrible swoop of gravity as she was yanked towards the ground.
The moment she was at ground-level, everything became a blur of grappling and shoving, pushing, pulling, snarling, yelling, swearing, until she was pinned against the ground by her wrists. The first racer pushed her down without a thought of being gentle, and he threw a command to the other to pry off the other shoe.
Her leg fell numbly to the ground as the jet footwear disappeared into oblivion, leaving only a crackling, untidy stream of smoke in its wake. Staring up at the predatory eyes of the racer, it finally registered in her head how odd this particular man looked without a bloody nose.
“Hi Nose,” she heaved, squirming backwards, only to be pulled back by her feet, a very distinctive grip holding her legs down. Flinching, she whined, “—and Grabby.”
Nose’s face trembled with rage, his mouth twitching and pulling back over his yellow teeth in a terrifying sneer of a smile. His brows raised slightly in greeting and words seemed to be wanting to slip out with his growling breaths, but he seemed just on the brink of losing composure.
Her mouth twisted into a nervous smile, her heart absolutely pounding. Her brush sat just inches from her hands, but she could not move her arms against the force holding them down. The fingers around her wrists tightened like a vice, and she winced against the growing pain. “Uh,” she forced out, “Need something?”
Nose’s breaths seemed to rev, his canine teeth catching his lip, his tongue darting out against his mouth. Before he could completely lose it on her, however, the lower, more collected, yet just as menacing voice of Grabby interrupted him.
“He hasn’t forgiven you for breaking his nose,” he told her calmly, digging his fingertips into her calves, prompting her breath to catch and let out a strangled yelp. Anger began to bubble into his tone as he continued, “And I still haven’t forgiven you for humiliating us. Twice.”
“Hmm,” she hummed, trying very hard to not let her pain show, “twice?”
“You know exactly what I mean,” he barked, shoving down against her. “You wussed out of our deal, then had the nerve to strike one with Turbo.”
“I didn’t make a deal with Turbo,” she hissed. “He didn’t make me do that—ngh – I wasn’t doing that for money or anything—GOD, STOP IT!”
“Stop what?” He leaned harder against her leg, making her bones creak. The pain seemed to tighten her throat and make just speaking excruciating.
“THAT—” she cried out, squirming and wrenching herself in any direction she could manage. Her head swam dreadfully, and she only then realized that her eyes had been squeezed shut. Cracking one open, staring down at the man threatening to break her legs, she saw his completely indifferent expression.
“Why? Why not just break your legs and be done with it, huh?” As he spoke, Nose shook with agreement.
“Better go with her arms,” Nose finally managed to snarl out, his voice dry and ripping. “Then she can’t paint her way out of this. She’ll never paint her way out again. Curtains for little MAKE-IT!” He twisted her wrists slightly, and blazing hot pain rattled her entire code as she shrieked.
“HOLD ON—WAIT, JUST WAIT A SECOND—”
“Think you’re going to talk us out of it, ‘toots’?” Grabby hissed scathingly, the last word dripping like acid from his tongue.
“DON’T—DON’T—JUST—”
A high, airy laugh seethed out of Nose’s mouth. “Look at that, she’s gonna start begging.”
“PIECE OF—” she writhed, hearing her brush clank against the rim of the bucket. If she could just shake it out enough to grab it…
“Her arms,” Nose growled hungrily, “then her legs. Then that GOD-DAMNED BRUSH!”
“Or,” Grabby paused, lifting up his pressure slightly, tilting his head, “we might not. Not yet.”
Nose was not surprised by this notion, but it was obvious he did not like it as he huffed, his gaze burning. His partner continued, “Poor, poor little Mavy,” he cooed sarcastically, and she flinched at the name, feeling righteous fury at this vile man using a name reserved strictly for her cousin. “Lost and scared, over her head in her mistakes. You really dug your grave, didn’t you, sweetheart? I think I might pity you just enough to let you go, whole, unscathed, and alive. If we can strike a deal…”
She swallowed, sweat from the pain beading on her brow. “I don’t like making deals with you,” she whined, barely audible.
“Be that as it may,” Grabby continued, “you don’t have a whole lot of options. It’s the deal or your limbs, babe. Take your pick.”
“Let me hear it,” she squirmed harder, the handle of her brush hopping closer and closer to her nearly numb fingers. Fear burned horribly in her chest, and she tried desperately to push it down, to stay calm, but the looming threat of a permanent death was making her head spin with dreadful vertigo.
“Alright,” he growled, the start of a smirk pulling at his mouth, “we let you go, and you don’t set one pixel in this console again. If you do come back, we’ll delete you out of existence. In other words, we’ll kill you. All you need to do is leave and never come back. Easy, right?”
Her mind immediately said no, but she knew that if she refused immediately, she would lose her limbs and her life. Just a moment more, and she could get away. She just needed them to keep talking.
“What would that get you?” She hissed back.
“Nothing,” he grinned. “Absolutely nothing. Other than, of course, never having to deal with you, or the way Turbo instantly becomes gigabytes more obnoxious when you do show up. And, you know, the satisfaction of him never seeing his little… whatever you are, again. His… ‘toots’.”
“You’re sweet,” she growled, “you know that? God, why do you hate him so much?”
“Why do YOU—” he shoved down on her legs, pushing out a squeal, “—like him so much?! There are no redeemable qualities in that lowlife cuss!”
Panting, nearly letting loose a scream against the pain, she grabbed at whatever words came into her head. “There is one thing, at least—he most definitely – wouldn’t be slowly killing me—against the ground—like this…”
Both of the racers laughed, perfectly in synchronization. “That’s cute. You actually think he’s a good guy, huh? ‘Good guy’ is just a title, sweetheart. If you were helping us, he’d be doing worse things to you. We’re being downright polite compared to what he would do. Little Turbo’s never been afraid of cutting a few throats to get ahead.”
“I think you’re bluffing,” she spat. She remembered Turbo’s rage in the utility closet, and his tantrum in his room over his facial decorations, and the way he pinned her down and tickled her. The memory contrasted horribly with the crushing pain in her bones. “I won’t believe that. He’s not like you.”
Nose spoke up, much to Grabby’s dismay and scowling. “He’s NOTHING like us. He’s weak. Gets everything for nothing. Doesn’t deserve a thing!”
“So,” she breathed, “you WERE bluffing.”
Grabby’s arms twitched against her legs, hungering to punch Nose in the face, who was staring blankly down at her.
“Look,” Grabby growled, collecting himself, settling the quakes of rage through his shoulders, “just leave. That’s all we want. Don’t come back.”
The handle of her brush fell against her fingertips felt like a glorious lifeline, jolting her heart into jubilant hope. In a blink, she gripped it fully, and with just a flick of her hand, a stream of screaming sparks flew up between the two men. They shrieked in alarm, their grips disappearing as they fell back. Hardly sparing a second to love the rush of freedom, her leg jerked up to drive her foot into Grabby’s jaw and her fist slammed painfully against Nose’s teeth with a satisfying crack.
Both men cried out in raging pain and surprise, and her whole body burned with adrenaline as she threw herself to her feet and tried to leap away. She was stopped short by a grip on her ankle, but with her brush in hand, she sliced a vicious blade out of the air and lashed out at her attacker, scoring a deep gash across his face and freeing herself when he screeched in pain.
As he doubled over, clutching his wound with both hands, the other man rounded on her and managed to land a solid punch to her ribs, knocking the wind out of her and sending her toppling to the ground. He was upon her in an instant, but just as quickly, she seized his collar and let the cold steel of her knife dance in and out of his torso. Her frantic stabbing to his gut, chest, and side prompted his code to visibly spark, and he froze for a moment before rolling off of her and spinning out in his death animation.
Not wasting a second, she was on her feet again, and within the next moment, she was hovering a safe distance away. The knife practically flung itself at the surviving racer, knocking him to his side like a bullet and starting his own whirling death.
One after the other, the racers disappeared in puffs of dust, and materialized again on their feet, whole and unscathed, panting with shock and rage.
“Sorry, fellas,” she shook her head, her voice high and grating with the thrill of freedom, “I can’t agree to those conditions. I made a promise that I intend to keep.”
Without pausing for reply, she was spiralling through the air yet again, placing as much distance between herself and them as possible and making a beeline straight for Turbo’s bedroom window. Her heart rattled hotly against her ribs as she desperately pried it open. Killing the flames in her shoes, she rolled in, whirled around on the spoiler of his car-bed, slammed the window shut, painted a lock on it for good measure, and fell back against the blankets, her chest heaving.
That was slightly terrifying.
Any loose objects in the room quivered with the beat of the party below. Rasping, trying to catch her breath, she rubbed gingerly at the ache in her side where she was punched. She tried to focus on the music, let it drown out the pain along with the searing panic in her chest. Truly, genuinely, she had almost been killed for good. That concept warped her thoughts, threw her off balance, sent the room into a sickening spin.
“No,” she breathed, putting a hand to her mouth and wincing at the dull pain in her bones. “No, it’s okay. It’s alright. You’re okay. You’re alive. We can make it. We can make it. We can make it…”
Her breaths steadily slowed, evening out, pulling in long, soothing mouthfuls of air. Yes, she made it. She was okay. Now that the encounter was over, she could really feel just how scared she was. It was the most horrible, humiliating feeling, and it was not welcome in her mind.
She swallowed, slowly and shakily righting herself and sitting up. A swish of her brush created a plastic cup of water, which she knocked back in one gulp.
“Okay,” she breathed, rising to her feet, refusing to let herself shake. “C’mon, Mavis, those nosebleeds don’t scare you…”
Truly, they did not scare her. She grinned at this fact, but her smile was short lived. What she really feared was death. Failure, falling out of existence. Not making it.
She shook her head briskly, clearing the thoughts from her head. There was no time to be sitting around battling her ridiculous fear. She had come to see Turbo, and that was what she was going to do. It was time to see just what his nightly parties were like, and judge for herself if they really were Turbo-tastic.

Chapter Eight
I wasn’t exactly pleased to be going out in the first place, but the fact that I was going with James made it even worse because he insisted on dressing me.
No matter how many times I told him I would be fine in a pair of jeans and a t-shirt, but he wasn’t having it.
When he handed me a skirt I had inherited off my mother and never worn because not only was it tight, but it was decorated with rainbow coloured roses. Tight and bright were two things I didn’t do when it came to dressing myself.
I turned to look at him with a dead pan expression, “Really?”
“Ah huh.” He smiled.
I shook my head and pulled the stupid skirt on. If I wasn’t such a push over, I’d be able to stand up to him and pick my own damn outfit. But as it was, I had practically no gumption, so I let him dress me in an outfit I would never have dared to wear normally.
After the tight flower skirt, he dressed me in an equally tight, long sleeved black top and a pair of black heels. I paired it with a pair of hoop earrings and one of my favourite clutches which was a red sequined pair of lips.
James wanted to do my hair but I drew the line and pulled my hair into a low ponytail.
Arm in arm we caught an uber to the address that Kit had texted James an hour ago. James wouldn’t let me even see what the address was encase I googled it and could find out where we were going prematurely.
“You’re not the least bit curious as to where Kit is taking us tonight?” I asked as we sat in the back seat of the uber.
“Of course I’m curious. But unlike you, I love a good surprise.” He smiled.
I rolled my eyes; I hated surprises. How were you supposed to prepare for something if it was a surprise?
What if we were going roller-skating and I had worn heels and a skirt? It was absolute torture.
I tried to gage what we might be doing as the destination drew near and I began to recognize parts of town I began to hypothesize; we were in bar territory, maybe we were going on a pub crawl? Maybe we were going out clubbing again?
There was a bar around the corner that boasted thirty different types of beer, maybe we were doing a beer tasting?
Then the car came to a stop and I peered out the window, my mouth dropping in horror.
“Turn the car around. We’re going home!” I declared.
“What?” asked the driver.
“She’s joking.”
“No I’m not!”
“Get out of the car Nessy.” Said James, leaning over and opening the car door on my side.
“No. And don’t call me Nessy.” I pouted stubbornly.
“Do you guys what to go home or not?” asked the driver.
“Yes.” I said.
“No!” disagreed James before he turned to look at me seriously, “You’re going.”
“No.”
“Yes.”
“No!”
“Yes!”
“You guys need to decide what you’re doing; I have another fare waiting.” Said the uber driver.
“Calm down turbo, we’ll be out in a minute.” Snapped James before he turned to look at me, “Don’t make me list the reasons of why you need to get out of this car.”
“Please do.” I said sarcastically, I was positive that he could not possibly say anything to get me out of that car and convince me to go inside.
“If you don’t go in, Kit is going to think your avoiding him.” He said simply.
I balked; except that.
My friendship with Kit was on such shaky ground that I couldn’t afford to rebuff his attempts at bringing together.
Grumbling unhappily, I climbed out of the car and marched inside the establishment.
Pablo was already inside and I slid into the booth opposite him, folded my arms and pouted unhappily, wishing desperately that I was somewhere else.
If James and Pablo found my dark mood irritating, they didn’t show it as the two of them sat there flirting with one another.
I was so focused on maintaining my glowering mood that I didn’t even notice when Kit walked in the door, not until he came down and sat next to me.
“Hey everyone.” He greeted.
“Kit, you’re here.” Smiled Pablo.
He smiled before he turned to me, “What’s wrong with you?” he asked.
“Sour puss over there hates karaoke.” Grinned James.
I didn’t respond as I ground my teeth together.
“Why do you hate karaoke?” asked Kit, turning to look at me with amusement.
I didn’t trust myself to speak, I might let loose a tirade of insults that I couldn’t take back and I didn’t want to do that. So I just stayed silent.
“Oh come on. You can’t be that mad. Who hates karaoke?” he asked.
“I have no problem with watching karaoke. I hate doing it.” I explained through gritted teeth, “And I know the reason we are here is because you want me to get up there and sing.”
“You say that as if it would be the worst thing in the world.” He commented.
I didn’t reply; for me, it would be.
“How about I get us some drinks? First rounds on me.” Kit declared suddenly.
“I’ll have a cosmopolitan.” Said James.
“I’ll have a grasshopper.” Said Pablo.
“Agnes, what do you want?” asked Kit.
“Gin and tonic. Lots of gin. Actually get me a Gin and tonic with a shot of vodka.” I replied.
The only way I was going to be able to get through tonight was if I was drunk. Though I knew I needed to be careful to not get so drunk in that I would throw myself at Kit again. But I defiantly needed a lot of alcohol and I needed it now if I was ever going to be able to loosen up in an environment that made me so uncomfortable.
I was still fuming by the time Kit came back with our drinks.
I took my drink from him and downed my shot quickly before I took a sip from my drink. I hated the taste of vodka, though tonight, I was not adverse to the affect it would have.
“So you’re not going to get up there?” asked Kit, gesturing to the stage, where a man was singing a Celine Dion song very loudly and very out of tune.
“Not on your life.” I said simply as I took another sip of my drink.
“You know the whole point of us coming here was so I could hear you sing.” He said pointedly.
“It’s not gonna happen.” I said as I took another sip of my drink.
“I’ll get up there if you do.” He bargained.
“Well now you have to!” interrupted Pablo.
“Agreed. Do you know how much money I could make selling a video of Jon Snow singing his heart out to Taylor Swift?” asked James.
“I’m more of a Queen fan.” Replied Kit.
At that, I actually cracked a smile as I took another sip from my drink. I was beginning to feel a little buzzed.
“Why don’t you like doing karaoke?” asked Pablo curiously.
I didn’t even get a chance to reply because James did the talking for me, “Well, Nessy here wanted to become a professional singer, once upon a time.”
“Don’t call me Nessy.” I said pointedly.
“Wow. Why didn’t you?” asked Pablo, turning to face me.
I shrugged, as if it was no big deal that I had given up on my dream, “Things didn’t work out.”
“Things didn’t work out and she’s bitter. She can’t even watch X-Factor let alone do some karaoke.” Said James in a matter of fact tone, “She doesn’t like to see other people living her dream.”
“Thank you James, for close-captioning my pain.” I said sarcastically.
“Your welcome Nessy.” He smiled.
I ground my teeth together and took a large gulp of my drink.
“Don’t be bitter Ness. It doesn’t suite you.” Said Pablo seriously.
I rolled my eyes in response.
“You know this could actually be some really good therapy for you if you think about it.” Commented Kit lightly as he took a sip from his beer.
My facial expression showed exactly what I thought of that idea and Kit laughed in response, “Ok, I’ll tell you what,” he began, shifting in his seat so he could turn to look at me, “You get up there,” he said, gesturing to the stage, “And sing one song. Then we can go.” He bargained.
I blinked in shock, it was a hard bargain but it was one I was seriously considering if it meant I didn’t have to listen to one more person murder a classic song.
But something suddenly occurred to me. That as uncomfortable as I was in being in this room, Kit would be far more uncomfortable if he was suddenly thrust into the spotlight and at the mercy of every Game of Thrones fan in the bar.
“You first.” I challenged.
He stared at me, long and hard for a moment and I knew I had won. He wasn’t going to get up there and neither was I. Check-mate.
But then, he got an oddly determined look in his eyes. Grabbing his drink he took a massive gulp of it before he slid out of the booth and headed towards the stage.
My eyes widened in shock; he wasn’t!
He stepped up onto the stage and grabbed the microphone.
Holy shit he was!
Despite being an actor, I knew that Kit didn’t actually relish being in the spotlight. When he wasn’t working, he liked to be as conspicuous as possible. He also had a fragile sense of self confidence, he was always doubting himself and didn’t really believe any of the praise he got, choosing instead to focus on the bad.
Never, in a million years, would I have dreamed he would put himself in not only a position to be noticed, but in one to be mocked.
The atmosphere in the karaoke bar immediately lifted as people gasped in shock to see Kit standing on stage.  Several people had already whipped out their phones, James included and were recording him.
“He’s not actually going to do it is he?” asked Pablo.
I shook my head. I was still doubting he was going to sing, even as the opening notes of Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ began to play.
Locking eyes with me, he seemed determined to not only prove me wrong but to get me to sing as well. I let him know that it was never going to happen with my smug smile.
“Mumma… I just killed a man…” he sung, very loudly and very off key.
I blinked in shock; no way!
“Wow!” said Pablo, staring up at the stage in shock.
Though I was pretty sure no one in the room was more shocked than me.
“Put a gun against his head… pulled my trigger now he’s dead…”
This wasn’t happening. There was no way this had backfired on me and was actually happening!
“Ness, I think that guys in love with you.” Commented James as he continued to film Kit with his phone.
I frowned in confusion, “What makes you say that?”
“Well, he’s standing up there, making a fool of himself so a, you’ll be more comfortable. And b, just so he can hear you sing.” He said pointedly, “If that’s not love, I don’t know what is.”
I sat there feeling shell shocked for the rest of the song.
When he finished the crowd cheered and he ducked his head and quickly rushed back to our table, coming to sit down next to me once more with an oddly triumphant smile.
I opened my mouth to speak, but I couldn’t. I was too shocked to do anything.
“Well? Deals a deal Ness.” Said James interrupting my stunned silence, “Get up there.”
I blinked several times, this could not be happening to me.
Turning to Kit I saw that he was smiling a very challenging smile and I knew I had no choice, “Fine!” I snapped.
Grabbing my drink I slammed it down in one gulp before I stood up so abruptly I nearly knocked over my chair. Walking around the table, I grabbed James’s hand and hauled him to his feet.
“Your coming too.” I said, in a tone that invited no argument.
“Me? Why?” he asked.
“So I can make sure you don’t record this.” I said as I dragged him up to the stage after me.
“Only if I get to pick the song.” He bargained.
I rolled my eyes, feeling a little like I was making a deal with the devil, I let him go through the songs and select one.
As the opening notes of the song began to play, I turned to look at the table to see Kit had his phone out and was recording us.
I unceremoniously flipped him off before I turned to the screen and waited for the words to light up that would indicate that it was time for me to sing.
“I found myself dreaming… In silver and gold… Like a scene from a movie… That every broken heart knows…” I sung, reading the words from the monitor, I was a little hesitant because it had been so long since I’d sung in public, “We were walking on moonlight… And you pulled me close… Split second and you disappeared and then I was all alone…”
I took the little break in the music I had to try and relax. I was never going to be able to sing well if I didn’t. Nodding my head along to the music, I began to get into the beat, “I woke up in tears, with you by my side… A breath of relief, and I realized… No, we're not promised tomorrow…”
I looked up at my lashes to Kit sitting at the table, smiling so broadly and happily that I couldn’t help but smile back as I sung the chorus, “So I'm gonna love you… Like I'm gonna lose you…I'm gonna hold you…Like I'm saying goodbye…”
As I did a small musical rift I heard Kit cheer.
“Wherever we're standing… I won't take you for granted… 'cause we'll never know when, when we'll run out of time so I'm gonna love you… Like I'm gonna lose you… I'm gonna love you, like I'm gonna lose you…” I sung smiling to myself at just how good it felt to be singing again as I turned to James as he began to sing.
“In the blink of an eye… Just a whisper of smoke… You could lose everything, the truth is you never know…” he sung, keeping his eyes closed most of the time before he turned to me with a smile and I couldn’t help but smile back, “So I'll kiss you longer baby… Any chance that I get… I'll make the most of the minutes and love with no regrets…”
I’d forgotten how wonderful it felt to be singing in front of a crowd again. Looking out into the audience I could see everyone was watching us, similar smiles of enjoyment on their faces. All of them listening and getting lost in the music.
“Let's take our time, to say what we want, use what we got, before it's all gone… 'Cause no, we're not promised tomorrow…” he sung, a smile coming onto his face.
We locked eyes and smiled at one another as we sung together, “So I'm gonna love you… Like I'm gonna lose you… I'm gonna hold you…Like I'm saying goodbye… wherever we're standing… I won't take you for granted… 'cause we'll never know when, when we'll run out of time so I'm gonna love you…Like I'm gonna lose you… I'm gonna love you, like I'm gonna lose you…”
James and I had sung together a million times and we knew how to harmonize perfectly together. The sound we made together made me smile and I looked out at Kit again as their was a musical break and I beamed at him, so grateful that he had made me get up here and do this.
With that in mind, I gave it my all as we sung the last chorus.
“I'm gonna love you… Like I'm gonna lose you… I'm gonna hold you… Like I'm saying goodbye… Wherever we're standing… I won't take you for granted… 'cause we'll never know when, when we'll run out of time… So I'm gonna love you… Like I'm gonna lose you… I'm gonna love you… Like I'm gonna lose you…”
As we finished singing the whole bar cheered.
I did a little bow of my head as I smiled while James swept his arm forward and bowed grandly. People were still clapping as we made our way back to our table and sat down.
Kit watched me as I sat down with a surprisingly pleasant smile, “That was amazing.” He told me and I didn’t doubt the sincerity in his voice.
“Well you were a tough act to follow.” I allowed with a smile of my own.
“You sounded great.” He said seriously.
“Thank you.” I smiled, though I had a good singing voice, it was nice to hear him say so.
“If I had a voice like that I would be singing all the time.” Said Pablo.
“Well get on up there!” encouraged James, “Show us what you got.”
Pablo didn’t need as nearly as much convincing as I did. He got up and did a very nice sounding rendition of Katy Perry’s ‘Firework’.
“I don’t know if we’re going to work out.” Said James while Pablo was singing.
“Why?” I asked.
“He seems nice.” Commented Kit.
“Well, I’m team Taylor and he is obviously team Katy.” He said pointedly.
Kit snorted in derision and I rolled my eyes, “You’re the modern day Romeo and Juliet.” I said sarcastically.
James made a kiss face at me before he went back to watching Pablo sing.
The drinks flowed freely after that as we talked about music and any other topic that came to mind.
After getting off to a roaring start, I began to pace myself with ciders instead of liquors. But by the time the bar shut at the ripe old time of ten, I was feeling a little tipsy.
So, tipsy that it didn’t bother me when Kit threw his arm over my shoulders as we walked down the street, intent on finding another bar to drink at. Nor when he pulled me close and pressed his lips to my temple.
Instead I was smiling like an idiot and enjoying the smell of his aftershave.
“You were great up there tonight.” He told me as we walked.
“Thanks.” I smiled before I looked up at him, “I wish I could say the same about you.” I grinned teasingly.
“Ouch.” He said in mock hurt before he laughed.
I joined him and we walked in silence for a few steps, James and Pablo ahead of us, discussing which bar we should go to next.
“You look really great tonight as well.” He said suddenly.
In hind sight, that should have thrown up some red flags, but to my tipsy brain, sounding great up on stage and looking great seemed like a natural progression in conversation.
“You smell great.” I told him with a laugh.
He laughed too and pulled me closer to him again, pressing his lips to my temple once more.
I closed my eyes and smiled at the feeling as I wrapped my arms around his middle in an awkward side hug as we walked. He really did have great lips…
But suddenly I wasn’t paying enough attention to where I was going, to distracted by the feel of his lips on my skin and I wedged the bottom of my stiletto heel into a crack in the side walk. As I made to step forward, the shoe stayed behind and I stumbled to the ground, catching myself on my hands before I could do any serious damage.
“Whoa! You alright?” asked Kit in concern, reaching down to help me up.
But I couldn’t get up. I was too busy laughing, “I lost my shoe!” I giggled.
Kit shook his head in amusement.
“Hey, is everything ok back there?” called Pablo.
“Yeah.” Called Kit, “Go ahead, we’ll catch up.” He assured them.
It was at least a solid minute before I could stop laughing as Kit turned around to collect my shoe from the side walk. I knew I must have looked like an absolute klutz and a drunken mess, sitting on the side walk laughing to myself, but I didn’t care and Kit didn’t seem to either as he crouched down with my heel in his hand and gestured to my bare foot, “May I?” he asked with an amused grin.
“Oh my prince has come!” I giggled, “If the shoe fits, will you marry me?” I asked, fluttering my eyelids dramatically as I continued to laugh.
“Of course.” He smiled as he very gently grabbed my foot and placed it back into the heel before he straightened up, offering me his hand, “Come on Cinderella.”
I placed my hand in his and let him haul me off the ground. But he pulled so quickly and with such force that I stumbled closer to him, nearly falling out of my shoes once more that made me dissolve into a fit of giggles once more.
I was so busy giggling that I didn’t notice how close we were, that my chest was pressing into his chest and that as I stood, his arms circled around me, resting on my lower back and holding me to him.
I was still laughing when he leaned his head down, for some reason I thought he was going to whisper something like ‘bippidy, boppody, boo’, but instead he leaned down and pressed his lips to mine.
I wasn’t laughing anymore.
I felt as if an ice-cold bucket of water had been thrown on me as I stood there absolutely frozen with shock. I may have had the tipsy giggles before but I was stone cold sober now and I felt everything.
I felt the way his lips curved against mine, his tongue tracing my bottom lip, begging for permission to enter. I felt his hands on my back pressing me closer to him so I could practically feel the muscles of his chest through our clothing.
I felt everything and it all felt amazing. But my brain was screaming at me ‘no’ and the moment I was able to gain control of myself, I pulled back to look at him in alarm.
“Kit, we can’t.” I said seriously.
“Yes, we can.” He insisted as he leaned forward to try and capture my lips once more but I leaned away from him.
His hands fell from my back and he stared at me as if I had slapped him.
Unable to take his gaze, I turned away and we stood there awkwardly.
“Why?” he demanded, his voice cold.
I turned to look at him reluctantly, “because we’re friends.” I said immediately.
He shook his head, “That’s not a good enough reason.”
I looked at him in shock, now it was my turn to look like the one who had just been slapped.
“What I feel for you is more than friendship. And I know you feel it too.” He said seriously.
I shook my head and turned away from him, “I’m not having this conversation.” I muttered darkly.
But before I could take even one step away from him, he grabbed my hand and pulled me back to him, “Tell me the truth.” He said seriously, “Tell me you don’t feel the same way.” He demanded.
“I don’t feel the same way.” I lied immediately.
“Liar.” He snapped.
“What is your problem?” I demanded as I ripped my hand from his, rounding on him furiously.
“My problem is you! You’re an amazing girl who I want to be with and for some unfathomable reason, you won’t let yourself be with me and I want to know why.” He said angrily.
“Did it ever occur to you that my life isn’t as simple as yours?” I snapped, “That I don’t just get to go out and do whatever makes me happy?” I demanded.
He shook his head, seeming too angry to speak, “First it was your mother stopping you from singing. Now what is it stopping you from being with me? Your dad?”
I didn’t justify his question with an answer as I glared at him. I didn’t need to answer. We both knew what the truth was, it didn’t need to be said.
“You can’t keep putting everyone else before yourself. Think of yourself for once!” He said seriously.
“I can’t do that! What about that is so hard for you to understand?” I fired back.
“Hey!” interrupted a voice.
I turned to see James and Pablo standing behind us, both of them looking shocked and confused.
“What’s going on here?” demanded Pablo.
“Nothing.” I snapped glaring at Kit for a moment who glared back, “I’m going home.” I announced before I turned on my heel and made to cross the road.
“Agnes,” pleaded Kit, but I ignored him.
What else could he possibly have to say to me that he hadn’t said already?
I could hear the boys discussing something behind me, but I didn’t listen as I began walking across the road.
“Ness! Wait up!” called James.
I didn’t turn around as I waited for a car to pass, just as James came to my side. We didn’t speak as we crossed the road and headed up a darkened street. Anger radiated off me, I was so furious that I was walking far quicker than I should have been in those heels.
“Do you even know where your going? Or are you going to walk the whole way home?” James asked after a moment.
Coming to a stop I finally took stock of my surroundings and realized I had no idea where I was. I hadn’t really been set on any destination other than ‘away from Kit’, but now it seemed that I had achieved that goal and needed to set a new one.
Whipping out my phone, I requested and uber and the two of us stood in silence waiting for it to arrive.
“Want to talk about it?” He asked as the awkward silence stretched on.
“Nope.” I said popping the ‘p’ sound as I stared down at my phone, watching as the uber driver took a wrong turn.
“Fair enough.” He said sounding satisfied.
James was my best friend. He knew when to question me and when not to. Tonight he obviously knew pushing me for information would get him nowhere. I knew I couldn’t get away with not explaining to him what had happened for long. But at least I had tonight as a cooling off period. I was thankful for that at least.

How much is car insurance for a 21 year old female?
I'll be a first time driver as of next month and I was curious how much I'll be looking at as a ball park estimate on my insurance rates. I know I'm a late bloomer for driving but I have never needed it as I live in a city. But as I want to do and go more places, I need a car now. Especially since I'm moving out of state, on my own, in 6 months. I was wondering how much I'm going to be looking at. I'll be driving a small sedan, maybe a 04-05 Honda Accord or Civic. I live in Texas now but I'll be moving to Ohio, in February, and if anyone could give me rates for both places I'd be much obliged! Thank you so much for even answering my question :)""
""Pregnant With No Health Insurance In Houston, TX?""
Hello Yahoo Community, I am married, pregnant, with no health insurance. I have applied for Medicaid and CHIP and was denied assistance based on my income, I apparently make too much money to qualify. I slightly cross the threshold. If you subtract our bills minus our earnings we're left with peanuts. We only pay for necessities not for commodities. There is nothing I can cut back on because we're paying for the basic stuff. I've look for insurances but I am having a hard time finding one that covers maternity costs and if they do they're tremendously expensive and out of our reach. Also since it's a pre-existing condition, most insurances don't cover it. Does anyone know about any programs where I can partially pay for the services? Or affordable insurances that I could apply for? I've researched extensively and can't seem to find anything. I am 10 weeks already and have not had my first pre-natal appointment. It's becoming rather stressful. Any help or information will be appreciated. Thank You.""
""Recently hit by another driver, got estimate for his insurance company. Not sure I should repair for that cost""
My car is a 1994 Lexus ES300 with 125,000+ miles on it. I would say it is in good or fair condition, the leather seats are cracking badly and it has a few scrathes, etc. I'm just wandering if it is in my best interest to repair this car or for it to be totaled out. The estimate for repairs in $3500.00, which could always go up once repairs start for unseen damage. I'm just not sure the car is worth repairing for that amount considering its condition. The damage is to the drivers side rear panel which is now rubbing something when I turn either way or go over any kind of bump in the road. The estimate does not consider repair for that since that could not be seen by looking at the vehicle. They are also saying the paint can't be matched perfectly because of the fading caused by sun and weather over the years. With everything considered my resale value is not good. I did want to sale this car at some point and get newer car.""
Does anyone understand how rental cars work? Insurance/fuel fees... Think I got taken to school on this.?
I just had to bring my car to the shop for a repair. They ended up needing to keep it. Now a rental was covered under the warranty. So at least the rental was covered. But the guy had me signing off on insurance and what not. I guess the insurance on my car would cover the rental if I had an accident. But they would take from my cars deductible. So I basically signed off on a Collision Damage Waiver and also personal accident insurance. I did decline supplemental liability insurance though. Should the warranty be covering these fees or was this an extra that I got talked into? Because if the warranty covers the rental they aren't making anything. My understanding is it could be better because I am covered under their insurance if I have an accident and it wouldn't come off my own cars deductible? Kind of new to this and probably wouldn't have been worth trying to argue it after the fact that I signed off on stuff. So if I use this car for like 3 days I'm in it for like $60 in insurance. Also does anyone know how this buying the tank of gas works? I understood it as if I use so much then I pay there price of $5.60 a gallon. But I got told it was best to just buy the whole tank at $3.30 per gallon(best option seeing as gas is so much these days) And then to return it as close to empty as possible to get my moneys worth. If anyone can help me out so I know for next time if I can decline stuff or did I take the right steps and take there insurance so mine wouldn't be charged? After the fact I see I could have declined these.

Why Health Insurance?
Health insurance companies can't cure anyone, prevent any disease, develop new treatments or create better medicines. Yet they take a cut of your health care dollar, create endless paper, interfere with doctors and enrich shareholders. They can all be replaced by software. BESIDES, hospital care and physician services are not random risks, they are a certainty for everyone at some point of their life. They are also preventable or can be protected against. How can you add an illegal alien to your car insurance? Where?

Before the omg 17 get a civic comments, I can drive, I seldom speed, and when I do, its on an empty road in the middle of the night. I have track experience and know how to control a car, don't try to convince me otherwise. Now, my problem. Obviously mustang insurance for a 17yr old will be nuts, but right now I'm on my parents insurance policy so I can drive their car(1 car family), and a friend of mine told me I could just insure my car under my dad's name and claim that I drive it occasionally. So I realize I could claim my father is the primary driver and I'm just an occasional driver, but if I am actually the only one who is driving it, and something does happen where I get into an accident or get a ticket, what could happen? Would I be covered in case of an accident? Can they say no and not cover me if they find out I'm the primary driver? I'd be the only person driving it whatsoever, my dad can't even drive a stick, so I'm wondering if this is even possible or not. Thanks.""
What is the average cost of insurance for new drivers in Massachusetts?
During late November, I will be receiving my license and will have the responsibility of paying for my own car as well as insurance. At that time, I will be roughly 16 and a half years old. I am looking to purchase a late 1990's Honda car but can not narrow it down further as I do not know specifically what car I will have. I heard during my drivers education class that grades effect your cost of insurance. I am a straight A students that takes challenging classes as well as having a part time job. I live in a city environment in Massachusetts with a population of less than 50,000 residents if that matters. What do you think will be roughly the cost of insurance for my situation?""
Car insurance black box (auto saints)?
I am going to have my car insured with a black box soon from auto saints, because it's much cheaper than any other insurance that I have looked at. My question is, after the second year does the insurance go down a lot with a years of no claims bonus (my friends say it doesn't) . So is it worth it? and do I have to keep the black box for the second year as well or is worth it changing insurance company after the second year?""

Forced placed auto insurance?
I'd been trying to have forced place insurance removed for quite a few months now, and after reading some stories here, see I'm not alone. I've always had full coverage insurance but since I switched carriers it was one thing after another ... Add them as lien holder -done, didn't receive notice from insurance company, didn't receive fax with notification, etc. .... Now, some months later, I'm in an accident and car may be totaled (not good news since the loan balance exceeds the cars worth). Am I correct in understanding that the lien holders forced insurance policy will relieve me of any difference in the balance, similar to if I had gap insurance?""

What is the least amount of car insurance I need to have on a car that doesn't have a loan on it?
I live in Wisconsin and havent had insurance in about four years. I am getting married in six months and my fiance's insurance agent said that I should get insurance now, six months before the wedding, so that once we get married and I get added onto his insurance, I won't raise his insurance since I am considered high risk since I havent had insurance the last six months or more. So, if I get insurance on my won for six months, it will be high risk for those six months, but then six montsh from now, I won't be high risk, which will be good becasue six months from now is when i would get married and added onto his insurance. Now, I am going to get insurance on a car that doesn't have a loan on it, and I am wondering how much insurance I need? What is the least amount of insurance I could get on my car, so that in six months I won't be high risk anymore? P.S. I live in Wisconsin, where it isn't illegal if you don't have insurance on your car.""

Help insuring a Car?
I am 16 years old and from the UK. I will be turning 17 in november and getting a driving licence. I was offered a car from my step dad. It is a 1996 Honda Civic Coupe LSi in green/blue. It has a 1.5 litre engine, and although not very powerful, it is very desireble to steal. It might be important to mention here that it has an automatic transmission. Here is a picture of the same kind of car. http://www.auto.vl.ru/catalog_photos/honda/civic_coupe/honda_civic_coupe_11787.jpg This car has a sentimentle value and it is the first car I ever drove. I have tried online insurance sites to see how much it would be to insure. All the prices are very high. I just wanted some advice on how to insure this car cheap. Or at least cheaper then the quotes I have been getting. I am willing to keep it in a garage, it has an alarm and I will use a steering lock, but the quotes are still expensive. .Thanks for any help I get

Is Liberty National Life Insurance is a good company to work for?
Ok, like a few days ago i've scheduled an interview with National Life Insurance company and was really excited 'bout workin' there until today, but tomorrow (8/05/09) i have my interview...anyways, while i was making some more researches about the company so that i could present my questions to the interviewer (u know when he/she will ask me if i have any questions...) and then i stumbled upon some acclaimed Liberty National Life Insurance scams ...u know how people can be HORRIBLE on the internet. so anyways people (customers or employees, especially EX employees) were saying really bad stuff about the company. Like, LNL insurance doesn't pay people fairly, and that if you just wanna buy a pair of shoes to wear then it's a fitted company to work for, and all the bad things u could imagine...in fact, the ex employees were really crucial about the company. So now, i'm really nervous about working for them you know? I mean what if what those ppl are telling the truth and that i'm just heading toward god knows what?! What if i get the job and realize then that everything that was being said on the internet was true? What if they don't pay me fairly? or i don't know.... All of this has gotten me very frustrated...so if any of u guys can be any help with reliable sources, or just helpful suggestions would be more than great! Thankx and oh lol i didn't realized i wrote so much...sorry 'bout that though....""
