Just finished ep 26, jumping up and down in my enclosure at the *spoilers* description of the coven, like what if you met your coworkers and they one up-ed you in every possible measure, be in cattiness, wit and fantastical phenomena, be it brute strength and violence or be it sleekness and elegance. And your friends are with their mouths agape while you at most try to curtsy and be pleasant.
Like we can talk about how the citadel makes shows of power and dominance with their airships, banners and troops, but this was a planned show of dominance that Ame has utterly lost.

Just watched Sick and Tired (Golden Girls s5, episodes 1 & 2) and aside from the obviously great work these episodes did in highlighting just how awful it can be to be diagnosed with a chronic illness, I had to take a minute to appreciate Rose. Because she's genuinely amazing here.
We're in these episodes where obviously, Dorothy isn't at her best. She's not there to be the voice of reason, to make sure everything runs smoothly — and usually you'd think Sophia would turn into the anchor then, because she seems to have most of her wits about her. But rather than Sophia, or even Blanche, it's Rose who steps up and keeps some semblance of order around the house.
Rose goes to New York with Dorothy because she's comforting, because she's sweet and understanding and unlike Blanche, she's able to take Dorothy seriously without considering her own problems. Rose takes care of Blanche during her... writer's high? If that's what we can call it? And it's just. She displays so much emotional intelligence in these episodes, and she keeps it all together for the four of them when all the others are falling apart. I love the rare episodes where we get to see how important Rose is; how much there really is going on underneath the surface.

God of Fear and Hunger Take
At first, the god of fear and hunger's ascension was a plot point I really didn't enjoy. It's needlessly cruel, but unlike the rest of the game, the cruelty doesn't seem interesting. it's a doomed trajectory storyline, but personally, those are only fun to me when it's the characters driving their own/their loved one's failures (see: le'garde/d'arce's dumbasses). The plot kind of just happens at the girl and the player. It also feels emotionally wrong- as the player you feel like you've saved her, you've shown her kindness she's never experienced before, and now it's just you two against the darkness, a tiny found family. it makes the girl's ascension feel like it only happens because. the plot needed it to. it feels like if you'd just gotten a few more opportunities to show her kindness, maybe things could've been different.
But taking a closer look at the gameplay really made it click for me. You rescue this girl from her cage, only to take her deeper into the dark. You arm her and force her to fight for her own survival against mind-shatteringly horrifying monsters. It's the two of you against the darkness, but one of you didn't have a choice about whether or not she wanted to be there. Deciding whether or not to sacrifice, sell, or trade away the girl is a recurring decision, and a lot of players seriously consider doing it. It's frustrating having her in the party at all- she's bad at combat, especially in the beginning. People joke that she's just a meat shield. It's often better to just. make space for better characters. Her place with you is conditional on her usefulness.
Of course she became the god of fear and hunger after all that you've put her through. Of course your small kindnesses don't matter when you've caused so much more suffering. You were just stringing her along, making her care about someone who didn't care about her. Even your last action towards her, taking her to the Altar of Darkness, is done because you wanted Nilvan's soul. Or, you just wanted to see what would happen, with no regard for her well-being. There is no way to truly rescue her- leaving her in the cage is just another way of dooming her, escaping with her is an uncertain bet at best. The dungeon strips you of your ability to show her real kindness. The doomed trajectory is caused by your character, by the way the dungeon has conditioned you to think.
(obviously i'm not saying you're a bad person if you've sold or sacrificed the girl she IS just pixels; this is just how i've rationalized this ending)

Daaww so sweet, and also very interesting! But I won't comment on now so I need to make a pin on that PUT A PIN IN IT
*I pull out a pin out of nowhere and do the motions as if I was placing it on a board and let go and though attached to nothing it still floats in the air*
Ok! Next up Junko and makoto!
So makoto how's it feel being tall? And big
Makoto:Oh yes, I feel very tall, a practical giant...so does anyone else who puts boots with heels that add 10 cm to their height.
Junko:Oh shut up!
Makoto:Wanna see a magic trick? *Takes off boots so now is smaller than his original body and Natsumi's original body*
Junko:Fuck off!
Natsumi:Hah! So it turns out I'm not the pipsqueak of the three.
Miu:You're really smaller than me at everything, smaller brain, smaller tits, smaller boyfriend and smaller height. Maybe I should call you small bitch.
Junko:You're really talking a lot of shit for someone who also uses boots to increase her height. And don't you talk like you are any different Yakuza bitch.
Natsumi:Yeah, but my shoes don't actually increase my height that much like yours two does.
Miu:Hey! My boots don't increase my height that much!
Shuichi:Actually *Takes of the boots, now being basically at Makoto's original body height* They add 10 cm.
Makoto:Same as Junko's.
Miu:I'm still taller than Despair Bitch.
Junko:Like height matters that much, all those centimeters won't give a bigger spine, and it certainly doesn't prevent me from kicking your ass and-
Makoto:Ok Junko, that's enough for now, Miu is already scared enough.
*Miu was hiding behind Shuichi, which looked a bit silly since now he was much smaller on her body*
Shuichi:It's ok Miu, don't worry, you shouldn't have asked for it though.
Hajime:...I wonder*Takes of their shoes, now being eye level with Makoto's original body*
Natsumi:Thanks, out me as pipsqueak why don't you?
Hajime:You asked for it.
Natsumi:...I guess.
Makoto:Well...I guess I can say I actually feel pretty tall now, I only wish it didn't happen this way.
Junko:Well, now people can't crack short jokes at your expense, I mean you're still short but you get the point.
Makoto:Good, I didn't wanna ruin people their fun but it was getting annoying.
Junko:It's ok...you're big where it counts.
Makoto:*Sigh* I would find this cute but I know at which part are you referring to.
Junko:Heheheh.
Makoto:...Never change...though tone down the threatening a bit.
*M/A Counter:8*
