If I had a nickel for every circus themed indie cartoon on youtube... you get it. Also bigtop burger is easily the best

#bigtop burger #the tone in that show is immaculate #there are so many creative choice that are unique and wonderful #the 'circus but scary' trope is very cliche which is not technically a bad thing #bigtop burger understands that the trope is basically a joke in itself and it takes advantage of that #so making a wholesome genuinely funny clown show is a subversion #it doesn't take itself seriously which makes it even funnier #and when the lore is introduced in a sublte humble but unexpected way #you're genuinely intrigued #take the amazing digital circus #it relies on the 'circus but scary' trope so hard and take it super seriously #the edginess comes off as cringe #and the show thinks so highly of its own lore it just smacks you over the head with it

#0.txt #i'm all about combat gameplay and exploration so i'm having LOADS of fun on that front #i don't really have any opinions on the story yet tbh. its not bad but it's not amazing but i never have high expectations for #early game story to begin with. or gacha games in general tbh ajkladsf #i DO really like the world building in the sense of everything being made up of frequencies. it helps tie a lot of the lore together imo #my only thing is like. honestly if i didn't know who the fuck i was or where the fuck i was why would i go on this puzzle hunt for #some magistrate who i haven't even met in person. but whatever ig lol #character wise i'm running sanhua / yangyang / mortefi #sanhua is the fave here i love the charged attack mechanic where you have to release at the right moment #yangyang's cc is really useful and mortefi is also just fun lol #from trials i REALLY like using jiyan and lingyang so i hope i pull them eventually. still need to try out others though too #in general i definitely prefer the melee characters waaay more than others. i haven't liked a single rectifier yet ajskdlaf #(i got encore off the beginner banner)#my only gripe with the combat is that the range definitely feels a bit small like if you're a little too far away you won't hit the enemy #i'm eager to actually figure out proper playstyles though. i do actually like that effectively just button mashing also works #but it's also super satisfying understanding a character's exact gameplay mechanics #i have not even looked at character building though that is a whatever until it suddenly clicks fadkflaf

ur post about queerbaiting and the dismissal of people in fandom to critical analysis is so incredibly true thank you. i feel like marcille's writing in the anime has been super misogynistic a lot of the time and every time i bring this up all anyone wants to say is "well maybe this isn't for you! and you shouldn't watch the show!" like. i don't think this is about taste lmao, i am analyzing the text in front of me and coming to conclusions about the craft of it.

It's like being at a restaurant and being served a bunch of delicious appetizers, but then one of the bread appetizers is literally just a plate of crumbs; and then when you're like, "Hey, uhh, why are we being served literal crumbs?", a bunch of the other folks eating at the restaurant are like,

"WELL HOW ABOUT YOU JUST DON'T EAT HERE THEN??!? YOU MUST NOT BE THAT HUNGRY, SO JUST FIND ANOTHER RESTAURANT AND DON'T EAT WITH US!!"

And maybe they say it politely, but "Aw, sorry, maybe this restaurant just isn't for you 💖" is just trading out an aggressive dismissive tone for a patronizing dismissive tone. It's the same message.

And it's like! I was honestly happy to move on from the crumbs once my complaint was acknowledged because the meal overall is still delicious, but then all these folks got SUPER WEIRD AND DEFENSIVE ABOUT IT, so now I find myself double-checking all the other dishes -- and, actually, you know what those eggs DO look a Iittle misogynistic undercooked!!!!

An Update

Firstly, I want to say a huge thank you for the many different kinds of support I've received after my earlier post about being plagiarised. This has been a very strange day but I'm really feeling the love in the community - not just for me, but for fic writers generally.

The person who did this sent me a message about it this afternoon. They then quickly deactivated their tumblr and their entire Ao3 account. I didn't ask them to do either thing, for the record. Before they deactivated, I thanked them for their apology and asked them to never do this again to any of us. Hopefully they won't - and I hope they're taking care of themselves now.

Thank you to the lovely person who spotted what had happened and messaged me about it first thing this morning. If it weren't for you, I believe this would have happened again until who knows when.

I would like to ask one more thing today, from everybody. Please message an author or artist whose work you love (in any fandom! Doesn't just have to be Tarlos of course!) - or indeed leave a comment on their Ao3/art page, even if you have before, to let them know their work shines for you.
