max is great at forgery! he would also write for vic sometimes, but not for any valid reason- he just got bullied into it frequently. and he's used to working with a smaller community up north, so it's not surprising that he immediately jumps to being there in person to reassure them.

the duke got max's "be so fucking for real" face one time and it was enough to make him straighten up his act. and now he's on his forgiveness tour! (while managing to also piss off the king. multitalented)

rico absolutely ups the flirting by about 200% once he realizes that it wasn't that isn't receptive- he just didn't know! and now that he does know, he's blushy all the time. and you can't really blame rico for wanting to see more of that :)

yeah the no shirt was on purpose. he's been waiting for the chance to get a good look without worrying about bleeding out and the opportunity just drops in his lap! what else was he supposed to do?

max finally gets all that tension worked out and turns into a purring housecat. rico decides that will become a frequent part of their routine.

dennis definitely has some old man curiosity going on! he's been guarding rico for most of his life, so he's naturally suspicious of the new prince consort.

YES YOU GET IT rico doubling down as soon as max admits that he didn't know is incredibly real of him, and also why they make so many small jumps so fast! hand holding, ankle hooking, pinning to the wall in a way that simply cannot be platonic

max is going to keep that one to himself for a little bit, because he's not entirely sure how rico would react, but he has a gut feeling it's not good.

martijn and joris are so happy that the king and prince consort are becoming more comfortable with each other, but they still have to fulfill best friend duties 🙂‍↕️

indulgently , but what would talon's impressions of rell be if the three of them travelled together ? and even more indulgently , does talon ever get used to yone's humming or whistling ?

Once they learn why Rell is also out for the harbingers Talon will settle with it, maybe shake their head and remark on how they were forming a crew to fight the inevitable. Without a history of family or even a place of belonging, there ain't much empathy they can share with her, only understanding for her search. Maybe be a little too pushy of a voice telling her seeking revenge will be good, actually. If Yone glares at them hard enough, they'll relent though. Nothing to the young witch personally, but Talon already doesn't handle company too well. If all three of them were to take up travelling, Talon would probably try and be ahead of the others, work as a scout. But this won't work during long trails of horseback. (getting a horse for them is also gonna be a problem with the beasts scaring so easily...) They'd ask Rell questions now and then on her powers, and what her trickery with metal and fire is capable of. Knowing a thing or two with their own magic of summoning brimstone weapons, they might even offer her pointers or help with her training. They'd also share stories of all kinds if asked, they might have one or two about other witches. This would all depend on if Rell even let them talk to her much, let alone tolerated their existence near her. Talon's very much on the same page of 'I would rather the demon-thing was anywhere but here.'

Noticeably, Talon would be standoffish and cruel when all three begin travelling together, making pointed remarks especially at Yone's expense. But as they went on, seeing both the gunslinger and witch's prowess, they'd become far less loose of tongue, and their avoidance would be more from something troubling them, than unfriendliness. No matter the outcome of their little venture, and if the harbingers can be stopped at all, Talon knows very well how both of them feel on hellspawn. And nothing can sway them that the second they're finished, their alliance will no longer be in place. And against both of them, Talon knows they don't have much of a chance. While I'm side-tangent-ing here I'll also say that Talon would try to keep their affliction to themself as much as possible. Any questions about their feathers will be blocked, sidelined, ignored, or they would provide an ill-omen and say nothing else. They'd try to keep any coughs out of sight or ear of both of them - there's no sympathy for their plight, and they ain't looking for it.

With both Yone and Rell around, Talon's nature would simmer far quicker, which would be conflicting to them; both unnerving, and welcome. When they hear Yone hum or sing for the first time, mostly likely after being in his company a while, they'd watch with a quizzical look and ask why he was doing that without an instrument accompaniment - whistling would be given a grimace and the question would be to interrupt it after a short while. Even if he were to explain to the best of his ability, Talon would still find it odd, but with future tunes they would ask him what particular ones are when he finishes, or if they're repeated, ask if it was this or that. Maybe while around a fire one night, they'd ask if they could hear a full song, and what it meant or the history behind it. Talon has no intent on joining in or complimenting how Yone carries a tune, but they'll learn one in return for having to listen to it. Whistling will still be unwelcome, but they'd give an excuse like 'it'll disturb the horses' rather then say it's irritating them, or even suggest he hums instead; accidentally said along the lines of, 'it sounds better when you hum.'

:9 < ok so I can 't sleep wiith this on my mind so : I never understood why some people turn characters that are so obviously trans / non binary ( and everything under that umbrella ) and make them into hypersexualized boytoy bottom twinks . Like okay , I get femboys exist . I 've had femboy friends ! They're very nice ( all the ones I've met anyways . ) But that 's not the point , the point is usually when these characters , specifically the ones that are transfem / transwoman implied or coded are extremely fetishized and sexualized ( regardless if they are minors . ) It 's so baffling to me that these people simply CANNOT ACCEPT THE FACT that non cis people exist like it genuinely needs to be studied . I was so focused on the idea of the Oceans 9-1-1 and the Truck Bombing having the potential of police procedural and hospital reveals that my brain forgot about the possibility of a hospital jail reveal in Fight or Flight. Idk there's something about people finding out in a crisis that tickles my brain.

Genuinely the AUAUs are genius because I can never stop thinking about different ways the firefam find out and that'd be true even after the actual reveal I think. (BTW I've given up on actual reveal predictions I have a better track record guessing AUAUs!)

Default verse set during the events of Baldur's Gate III. Each act of the game has its own specific tag because there are very distinct differences in Puck's characterization & the amount of knowledge he has about who he is, depending on where he is in the journey.

𝐕. 𝐀𝐂𝐓 𝐈. ➷ WHAT’S WITH THAT HOLE IN YOUR HEAD … ？

At the start of the game, Puck is at his most naive & most malleable. At his core, he has an idealistic mindset with recklessly heroic tendencies due to a strong sense of justice. However, he remembers nothing from his past & has no concrete basis for his beliefs. He can be easily swayed into giving in to his dark urges. That being said, he is deeply afraid of himself & his urges. He does not know the full extent of his strength, but he knows that he is more powerful than he'd like to be. He intentionally tries to make himself seem weaker than he is to be less intimidating. Whether or not he is successful in this endeavor is up in the air. He has a scar at the base of his back that he believes used to be a tail that got severed somehow. He cannot remember how it happened. Canonically, he is very open about the Dark Urge & does not attempt to hide the fact he killed Alfira. He chooses to save the grove.  

𝐕. 𝐀𝐂𝐓 𝐈𝐈. ➷ YOU CAN BREAK A SHOVEL WHEN YOU BREAK NEW GROUND！

During this act, Puck is starting to lose his grip on his meek persona, asserting himself more aggressively & giving in to his urges more frequently ⸻ even if he is attempting to resist the urge ⸻ especially upon entering Moonrise Towers. His self-sacrificial behavior will also increase as he spreads himself too thin by trying to save everyone he possibly can. Also much more reclusive, not as open with his thoughts & emotions as he was in the previous act. Whether or not Puck chooses to kill Isobel ( default: sparing her ) , he will re-grow his tail overnight. Later in the act, he will learn it got chopped off by Kressa Bonedaughter after he attempted to strangle her with it during her experiments on him. With this verse, I will default to Iago being recruited at Last Light Inn, post-Marcus fight unless plotted otherwise. From them, Puck will have learned that he used to be their ❝ childhood friend ❞ & co-worker in the Guild. He will not know they are actually twins nor will he know anything about being a bhaalspawn, but he does know they are keeping things from him.   Canonically, he convinces Shadowheart not to kill the Nightsong. He also attempts to persuade Ketheric to surrender.  

𝐕. 𝐀𝐂𝐓 𝐈𝐈𝐈. ➷ HE MADE THE WORM！HE HAS TO KILL THE WORM！

Post-Durge reveal, Puck now knows that he is a bhaalspawn & Iago is his twin. He also learns about his involvement in the plot of the Absolute. He kind of goes insane & has a, uhh, I Love It by Icona Pop ( feat. Charli XCX ) vibe going on. That's the best way I can describe what's going on in his head, sorry. I tried to write a serious description, but similarly to Puck's attitude in Act 3, I had to get silly with it. Canonically, he does not agree to an alliance with Gortash, rejects Bhaal & defeats the Netherbrain.

Just off the top of my head this morning, I'll say some Max-isms that Charles finds cute are:

• Smacking/kicking/elbowing Charles every two minutes when Charles says something stupid, but it's so gentle it wouldn't hurt a fly

• Him saying 'Charles' at the end of every second sentence for no reason other than just to say it

• His lying voice

• His 'I'm so done with Charles' voice

• His embarrassed voice

• His voice in general

• The way he says his S's and T's and R's

• How much of a typical boy Max is

• Him being obsessed with video games

• Him checking out his own biceps in mirrors when he thinks Charles can't see him

• Him not knowing how to decorate/interior design to save his life

• Him not being able to put together a decent outfit that isn't red bull shirt and jeans to save his life

• Him not knowing what SPF is and not believing in skin care and hair routines even though he lets Charles do it for him and hasn't bought 2 in 1 again

• His wrinkly forehead when he's confused

• The override button he has for being embarrassed to talk about his feelings whenever Charles is even the tiniest bit upset

• His insistence that Leo is Charles' dog and Charles' responsibility, but he keeps finding Max cuddling him where he thought Charles wouldn't catch him or teaching him new tricks which isn't working because Charles is feeding all the pets too many treats for them to still work as a reward system

• His panic response when Charles starts crying for literally any reason including sad movies, honestly even happy ending movies, any kind of tears just give him a panic oh god how do i fix it response

• Max always feeling the need to explain to Charles again that he does hate the crying, but he also doesn't want Charles not to cry because he's allowed to have all his feelings

• His innocent look when he's trying to pretend he has no idea what Charles is talking about when he wants to start a conversation Max won't like

• The thin layer of fat Max never loses over his stomach. He likes it especially in the off season when Max gets to eat lots of chocolates and things

Death must not want Xue Yang. Maybe he's so disgusting that even Death is repulsed. Or maybe he's defiled Death to such a degree that it rejects him. It's the only reason that his muddled, pain-filled head can come up with why he's still alive. Alive, despite being abandoned to the streets when he could barely walk, alive despite the loss of a finger that could have EASILY killed someone without access to medical care (which no one else seemed to consider), alive despite multiple claimed executions, despite what had happened before Yi City, despite everything at Yi City both past and present. HE'S ALIVE. Bleeding out and minus most of one arm now, but alive.

His eyes slide shut as the rain falls on his face, anger interwoven into the pain as he hears Wei Wuxian's voice somewhere in the distance - but he's in too much pain to focus on the anger for once. It's there, a throb, but something too dull under the sharp agony from his chest and arm. Everything seems to be muted, dulled against the acute pain. And then he's suddenly aware that he's being picked up and he RECOGNIZES THOSE FOOTSTEPS and the familiar scents that cling to Su She. Su She must not realize he's alive either because he doesn't try to treat any of the wounds and doesn't move Xue Yang very carefully when he's hoisted up. Xue Yang's pain tolerance is inhuman, but even he wants to snarl or choke or scream with pain but he can't make a noise. The pain is too great that his voice refuses to obey him. He just stays limp in arms and he loathes it but there's nothing else he can do.

Teleporting is disorienting for many as it is even in the best circumstances. But when the only thing Xue Yang can feel is EXCRUCIAITING PAIN, it's even more disorienting. His senses are mangled, confused - something that would ordinarily make him even more dangerous than usual but now achieves nothing. He's not sure where he is, can't tell if its warm or cold, can't tell if they're inside or outside. He's completely, utterly, helpless. He couldn't do anything even if he wanted to. Xue Yang's can't even say why he's clinging so hard onto life other than the fact that he DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO DO ANYTHING QUIETLY be it orders or dying. He clings onto the fading reality of life because Xue Yang fights for everything; it's in his very core to fight against death no matter how bad or unfair his odds are.

He only understands that he's been placed down by something cold against his back. Tile? Stone? It doesn't matter. He's not sure how long he'll last. He still doesn't make a noise, tunes out the voice of Su She as the pain drags him down. Until another voice he knows cuts through everything and Xue Yang knows he NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING TO HAVE A CHANCE. No matter how small of a chance, all his hope lies in Jin Guangyao. But will he do anything? If he wants the amulet back, then Xue Yang being alive or dead doesn't matter other than if he wants someone proficient with it. HE'S NOT USELESS THOUGH. Xue Yang can fight equally well with either hand - losing an arm doesn't make him HARMLESS. It would render most other people lost an arm , like Su She, but not him. But is that enough? Is it enough to warrant saving his life versus letting him bleed to death here? Ultimately, Xue Yang knows the he's going to be betting more on their personal relationship than anything else. Hoping. Hoping that MENG YAO will care enough for HIM rather than the the logic of Jin Guangyao to save him. It's a terrifying feeling.

He hears Jin Guangyao next to him, feels a touch on his blood and rain soaked robes, and knows it is NOW OR NEVER. Xue Yang swallows the overwhelming pain and forces his eyes open, forces himself to look at Jin Guanyao's face - and he's certain he sees GENUINE, COMPLETE SHOCK for the first time on the master manipulator. He can't say anything, ignores Su She's shocked noise and blabbering, just lets red and gold gazes meet as he clings to consciousness. He manages a flash of fangs in a grin, defiant not at Jin Guangyao, but at his circumstances - at still being alive despite everyone's assumptions. THEN, NOTHING. Unconsciousness drags him down as his eyes slide shut but his chest raises with shallow, little breaths. Whether he lives or dies is finally fully out of his control.

Xue Yang wakes with a strangled, broken moan of agony. One he shortly stops because he's made aware of the fact he's still alive. The pain isn't as bad as before; he's in new, warm clothes and he's somewhere warm and comfortable, away from the rain and cold tiles. The pain is still agonizing but not so much that Xue Yang can't choke it down with gritted teeth. Which he naturally does as he gives a grunt. Meng Yao's voice suddenly fills the air but Xue Yang can't figure out what he's saying - only guess that it's some version of his name and there's the hurried rustle of fabric. A cool cloth presses against his forehead that offers some relief and Xue Yang finally manages to open his eyes to see Meng Yao settling beside him.

Meng Yao's touch seems tentative at first - not fear but likely testing to see if Xue Yang will tolerate the comfort in the amount of pain he's in. Xue Yang turns his head into the touch. Accepting, wanting. It takes a couple minutes more before Xue Yang realizes Meng Yao is saying his name, like he's trying to help keep Xue Yang here with soft words and softer touches. Maybe he is. And clever Meng Yao must have figures out Xue Yang was TOO DISORIENTED TO UNDERSTAND what he was saying, and he must have realized when Xue Yang finally understood him clearly again because it's only after his name repetition that he starts to hear other words from Meng Yao. The gentle warmth of hands in his hair, of offered comfort, feels like it numbs the pain a bit and lets him gain some small clarity outside of the agony. His body relaxes from the unconscious tensing, and he savors the caring touch and words.

Stubbornness has always been one of Xue Yang's defining traits. He's aware that it might be about to earn him another scolding too, but that's never stopped him before and won't now either. His throat bobs as he tries to find his voice despite what Meng Yao is saying. He's stubborn and determined. His right hand twitches and weakly lifts with trembling fingers to gently grasp at the other man's free hand. " A..... A-Yao. " He manages to croak out. IT'S EXHAUSTING. Even just that much leaves him tired even as he offers a gentle squeeze to show he's lucid and not merely conscious.
