Finished my "Bubble Tea" quilt. My patchwork group has a exhibition this autumn in the tea museum of our town and I needed something to show.

This ist 40 by 50 cm with a pieced background, then appliqued with yoyos and buttons. Since I was too lazy for actual quilting, it is just the quilt top nailed to a canvas.

Chapter 1: Sweet Dream

Narrated by no one.

Narrator: Nikki turned over as she held the quilt, a sweet smile on her face.

Narrator: Nikki returned to her childhood in her dreams...

Narrator: Everything seemed familiar in the quiet morning.

Narrator: It was a warm spring day with a gentle breeze.

Narrator: Birds sang. Sunlight cast the curtain's shadow on the quilt. The soft pillow smelled like scented soap.

Narrator: In her dreams, Nikki returned to her childhood, when she sweetly slept with a stuffed lamb in her little bed.

Narrator: Family photos hung on the wall, and a photo album sat on the table. Nikki's childish handwriting was scrawled in a notebook.

Narrator: The clock ticked as if nothing had changed.

Narrator: It was an ordinary day. Mom took Nikki to school on her way to work. After that, it was Dad's turn to watch her.

Nikki's Dad: Time to get up, Nikki.

Nikki's Dad: Nikki.

Narrator: After her name was called a few times, her eyes opened slowly. She had a sleepy face and a confused look in her eyes.

Nikki's Dad: Get up! I'm taking you to a nice and fun place today!

Narrator: Nice? Fun? Nikki was suddenly full of life.

Nikki: Sure! Where are we going, Dad?

Narrator: Nikki sprung out of bed as she spoke, running toward the door on bare feet.

Nikki's Dad: Put on some shoes and wash up. We'll head out after breakfast!

Narrator: Beautiful flowers sat in a glass vase on the clean table. The flowers had a homey, sweet scent.

Narrator: The bright yellow omelette Mom had made was still warm. It had a ketchupy smiley face that seemed to say good morning to Nikki.

Narrator: Nikki gulped down her milk, giving herself a milk mustache.

Narrator: Dad was holding a large bag that held not only a camera but lenses of different sizes.

Nikki: Are we going to take pictures today, Dad?

Nikki's Dad: Yes. Will you be my model, Nikki?

Nikki: Sure!

Narrator: They got into the car. Nikki slept for the entire drive.

Nikki's Dad: I bet she stayed up late to read comics and talk with Yoyo last night...

Narrator: He couldn't help but smile at her. He was afraid she would catch a cold, so he covered her with another coat.

Narrator: Nikki felt this warmth outside of her dream, too.

Narrator: It's been so long since I first came to Miraland. Is my family still doing okay?

Narrator: She missed her dad so much, even just seeing him in a dream was a delight.

Throwback to the time I found a high quality quilt in the garbage so I took it. See, at the time I was a football player. Our team would have a few hours of scheduled rest before a game to mentally prepare, which I would use to practice my yoyo. They didnt like that but that's a different story. Well one day we were making upgrades to our weight room, which was where most of the resting took place because of the benches and the fact that nobody was going to be there. After a while we started accumulating pillows and blankets and a few plushies ❤ soft boys hehe. Anyway when we were making upgrades coach said "ok getcha shit outta my weight room you have until end of day". I didnt take anything because I had other priorities but I hung around after the end of this day right and peered ever so casually into the trash when I saw right on top this beautiful blue and mixed-basket pattern quilt, obviously hand made with so much care and love. Of course I am pretty sensitive so I was overwhelmed and couldn't let this tragedy happen so I took it but I was caught by the coach. And he said "oh no you cant have that its trash now.😡 I said everything is gone by this time and time is over." So I told him "but this isn't mine you just caught me digging in the trash and its so beautiful." That was ok he said since it wasnt mine. Weird hill to die on. Anyway, I later learned this quilt was made by a player's grandmother by hand, but I kept it a secret until I stopped giving a shit and moved across the country. Now you know 😌 and now I wrap up regular style in someone else's hard work, but yknow what it gave me an appreciation for sewing and crafts in general. It's easy to go "man sewing is lame" but then when I whip out the wizard cloak for my partner after two weeks of work you know she down bad 😏
