Al igual que las dos ediciones anteriores de Beethoven for Three, esta nueva grabación cuestiona la distinción tradicional entre el repertorio de cámara y el orquestal, al asociar el inolvidable trío "Archduke" con una de las sinfonías más variadas internamente del compositor, con meticulosos arreglos para piano, violín y violonchelo a cargo de Shai Wosner. Beethoven for Three: Symphony No. 4 y Op. 97, “Archduke" es el último capítulo de la continua exploración de tres amigos sobre lo que la invención de Beethoven significa para los músicos y el público de hoy. La serie Beethoven for Three presenta a tres artistas en busca de los elementos esenciales del lenguaje musical de Beethoven, presentando las sinfonías más emblemáticas de Beethoven con arreglos de carácter intimista que mantienen la potencia y la inmediatez de sus obras orquestales. Al interpretar las sinfonías con tres instrumentos junto a los tríos para piano canónicos del compositor, los artistas presentan una gran riqueza de información tanto sobre Beethoven como sobre sus primeros públicos. "Todos sentimos que poder participar en una sinfonía es algo maravilloso", dice Ma. "Una de las cosas que ha separado a la gente desde que empezaron las grabaciones son las categorías en las que metemos a la gente, en las que los músicos de cámara, los intérpretes de orquesta, la gente que toca conciertos, la gente que hace transcripciones, la gente que compone, la gente que dirige se ven todos como categorías separadas que no se solapan. Ese pensamiento en silos desalienta la creatividad real y la colaboración entre las personas. Y por eso creemos que una de las cosas que es realmente importante hacer hoy en día es volver a los primeros principios de la música, la simple interacción entre amigos que quieren hacer algo juntos". Beethoven for Three tiene su origen en el Festival de Música de Tanglewood de 2021, donde Ax, Kavakos y Ma interpretaron por primera vez la Sinfonía nº 2 de Beethoven en formato de trío. La actuación fue un éxito instantáneo, y el primer lanzamiento de la serie, Beethoven for Three: Symphonies nº 2 and 5, se grabó poco después. Gramophone destacó su grabación de la Sinfonía No. 5, señalando que "la interpretación de Ax, Kavakos y Ma no solo es acertadamente intensa -el Allegro con brio de apertura es tan envolvente como cualquier interpretación orquestal que haya escuchado-, sino también increíblemente sensible a las yuxtaposiciones cruciales de la música, como se puede escuchar en el Andante con moto, donde equilibran con tanta destreza la delicadeza y la fanfarronería heroica -nótese la vulnerabilidad del tono de Kavakos en 1'42- de una forma que encuentro profundamente conmovedora". La segunda entrega del proyecto, Beethoven for Three: Symphony n.º 6 "Pastorale" and Op. 1, n.º 3 se publicó en 2022 con gran éxito.The Strad observó que "la mezcla y el equilibrio entre estos tres intérpretes tan experimentados es casi ideal en los relajados movimientos exteriores [de la Sinfonía nº 6] y en la 'Escena junto al arroyo', mientras que la 'Alegoría de los campesinos' es tan rústica y juguetona como perturbadora es la 'Tormenta'. ...Son igual de urbanos y sofisticados en el Trío para piano en do menor... Este es el terreno de Ax y trae consigo a sus amigos de la cuerda para una interpretación que seduce y deleita de principio a fin". Ax, Kavakos y Ma actuaron juntos por primera vez como trío en el Festival de Tanglewood de 2014, interpretando un programa de tríos con piano de Brahms. Su primera grabación, Brahms: The Piano Trios,  salió a la venta en 2017 con el beneplácito universal de la crítica; Gramophone observó que "estas interpretaciones llegan directamente al corazón de la música de Brahms, saboreando su atracción por los opuestos", mientras que Limelight señaló: "No hay duda del ardor que estos intérpretes ponen en la música, que se interpreta con la mirada puesta en crear frases amplias y arrolladoras... hay muchas oportunidades de desmayarse por el camino".

I really think they should have animated D an G’s backstory, it would not only given him more personality in the anime but it also would have been a nice little foreshadowing for pucci’s heaven plan (end of the world, etc,,,)

But at the same time i don’t know when they could have shown it! Would it seem a little out of place to randomly start talking about it in the middle of the YoYoMa arc?

YES YES YESSS It’s a huge shame that never got animated. D an G’s backstory has a lot of parallels with other elements in the story, like the end of the world stuff, and how his stand works (YYM pretends to be helpful, and uses that to drop your guard. D an G used the fact that he was a cop (someone who’s supposed to help you) to cover up his murders). Also I just really wanted to see him when he was younger. David Pro has been pretty good at giving us new younger character designs (not for Lang, but that’s a different story…), I wanna see what they would have come up with for him!

It sucks that there’s a whole chunk of the Jojo’s community that doesn’t read the manga, and that they’re just gonna miss out on his backstory unless they for some reason check his wiki page or something. As for where they could have crammed it, maybe the beginning of “F.F- The Witness”? Putting it at the beginning won’t slow the action (unless you’re binge-watching, but Jojo’s isn’t written to be binged anyway), and back in Golden Wind we literally had Narancia’s and Fugo’s backstories happen in the MIDDLE of episodes, so I think at this point people are used to random side tangents in fights lol

Love this questions because there was a time in junior high where I listened to a lot of Debussy, Yoyoma and Mozart.

That said, you might find my answer somewhat vanilla. But I love this song so much more than the other works because it's so hopeful. Not only that, but also I feel you can assign multiple feelings to this song. If you are melancholy or sad or wistful then so is the song. But every time it still feels hopeful somehow.
