Let me show you my new game!
https://yuandgames.itch.io/on-the-road
This is my second released game made in Twine (Harlowe). As soon as I saw Road Trip Game Jam, I knew I wanted to tell that story. It’s deeply relatable to me — I often catch myself doing things without real awareness. I wanted players to experience that same mind flow — sometimes immersive, sometimes distracting.
The development process took less than a week as most of the time I was in the flow: just writing and coding and creating . I couldn't stop coming up with new ideas, so I had to restart everything from scratch several times. Now, I finally see it finished, just as it was in my head.
There're 11 achievements scattered throughout the game. To unlock them all, you'll need to replay it a few times. Don’t worry, the whole experience won’t take more than 10 minutes.
I'm still in the debugging process, so there might be some surprises. I'm doing my best to hunt them down! If you catch one, I'd love to know where you found it.

What’s your favorite way to get feedback on your game design?
When I was designing my own game, I thought some ideas were super obvious… but when I showed them to others, I realized they weren’t obvious at all
It’s wild how much we can assume players will “get” what we’re thinking, when in reality, it might need clearer explanation or just a different approach altogether. So, what’s your feedback loop like? Do you go for formal playtests, or do you rely on gut reactions from your inner circle?

success abroad ≠ success at home
wild how some korean games do great in the west but barely register locally.
players there are deep in mobile, ultra-competitive, streamlined experiences. meanwhile, global audiences are like: yes. give me the flashy, the cinematic, the melodrama.
it’s weird. and kind of encouraging.
sometimes your work makes sense somewhere else.
sometimes “not quite right” just means “right for someone else.”

thinking about making something silly for Roblox
i kind of want to make a silly little game for roblox. nothing serious just something fun and weird. maybe chaotic.
but i’m wondering:
- does it even make sense to create a roblox game right now?
- is it a good space for tiny experimental stuff, or is it all about polished projects these days?
if anyone’s made anything for roblox (or thought about it), would love to hear your experiences

being game designer is so fun until you meet some old friend of yours who is like
“wow game designer! so cool! can i play your game?”
and you have like million ideas, 10 design documents and a dozen unfinished unity projects
i’m seriously thinking on making vertical slice of some my idea just to show it to curious friends

my first ever game is delivered to itch.io! wow!
first, it was great to dive into html and css. I’ve never written a code line but after a month of actively trying to implement my ideas I can say I know a couple of things.
second, narrative in text-based games has to be very strong and tested on different players, who come from different cultural and educational background. i’ll write more about that but i was so cool for me to realize that things that are pretty obvious for me (haha sounds arrogant) are NOT THAT obvious for other people. wow!
the game is in russian (as was done for jam), but i’ll post the link to it as soon as I make english review.
what a ride!

first impressions on twine (not actually first but i got really deep into harlowe this time, so it’s kinda first)
story is much easier to develop right inside of the twine: I usually start off with some dialog/choice sheets but it looks like an extra work in this case
making some interactive things is easier than it seems: i was really upset about form limitations as the most obvious thing to do in twine was visual novel but here i am doing some text-game (like playing with text itself)
html and css are not that scary for the person who never done any code
Thats it for now hope to add some more things when i have more time (like never lol)

my first UE5 project is finally done and it was a ride actually.
I am so in love with lighting, I just can't stop doing this and that. I barely delivered my project in time as I was fixing every detail till literally last minute (which is completely my bad, I need to stop being that perfectionistic).

here's a small pretty screenshot of my island village in the morning. just look at these sunshine rays (btw how are the called, like god rays still idk).
btw the huts ARE lowpoly, yes, bc I didn't want them to be anywhere but on the background, but then I saw this view and went for it, sorry.

Hello, fellow wanderer!
You're about to embark on a small adventure as a tiny human drifting through outer space. Sometimes, distracting thoughts take over so actions go unquestioned. The real challenge is to break free from them and start acting with intention.
Be kind, be conscious, be curious — and unlock all the hidden achievements in the game.
