so i finally felt like it was time for me to watch My Journey to You but one thing I got from the narrative tbh was that Yun Weishan’s skills were supposed to be higher than Chi

like it felt like there was build up to a huge reveal at some point where she was only pretending to be low rank… but then nothing happened??

everyone around her in wufeng commented on her abilities etc that she wouldn’t be able to survive or whatever because they were higher ranked but nothing actually lead me to believe it

also we never truly got confirmation what her mission was

So I started watching My Journey to You and yeah I guess *technically* Gong Ziyu is meant to be the main protagonist and Esther Yu has got this whole tortured assassin/deer in the headlights thing going for her but let’s be real these guys are the stars of the show

based on yun weishan's interactions with han yasi and ziyi at the brothel, yun weishan's current rank is definitely a chi. or maybe a mei who has been demoted to being a chi for whatever reason. if she was a wang or liang, i think that she'd have been able to recognize ziyi.

the difference in han yasi's attitude towards her and ziyi also shows that there's a difference in rank between the two of them. with yun weishan, han yasi's the one giving orders and instructions. with ziyi, he's the one who awaits her orders and instructions.

people speculate that ziyi is a liang. since yun weishan is beneath ziyi in terms of rank, yun weishan's definitely not a liang. and yun weishan, although she knows that there are four wangs, doesn't know of their names or identities. maybe it's possible for four people of the same rank to not know of each other... but for now, i'm gonna rule out wang as well.

her skills are higher than that of a typical chi though (for instances, she's able to track using scent and is capable of suppressing the effect of the truth grass longer than anyone can). i think that she remains a chi by choice, and many of us believe that she chooses to do so because she refuses to carry out the task(s) that's required of her in order to be a mei.

(han yasi did train her so well though and thoroughly walk her through every situation that she may face at the gong's residence. as her trainer/raven, he's definitely the one who's aware of her true skills.)
