Hello Lovelies!

Now Ren Faire has been over for quite some time, but it seems plenty of our folks didn’t quite get the memo. I have received reports of multiple fights breaking out all over town, some physical and others verbal, and there’s been more than a fair share of heartbreak.

Allegedly famous in the outside world, Liam Jefferson and Hunter Hilton had a full on brawl ending in the pair being physically ripped from each other by concerned citizens. From the looks of it, it seems as though Mr. Hilton was turned down by Mr. Jefferson and was not taking the rejection well. It's not surprising that Mr. Jefferson has better things to do considering that he is a new father of two. Really, Mr. Hilton should dust himself off—just because one boy rejects you doesn't mean you need to rush back into the closet. 

You especially don't need to be yelling from the rooftops that you have a girlfriend. Quite the rebound from the looks of it, though I find it hard to believe Miss Valeria Moreno is settling down. That is one girl who has never been afraid to let the world know she is available for anything casual. Word on the street is that she has quite the extensive roster of hookups collected from our town. Her own roommate Saffron Aubert is reportedly much more than a roommate, which I have to give them credit for, is convenient considering the close proximity. She has also been spotted kissing fellow rangers Marcus Zhao and Cain Barlowe, is not afraid to get a little risque and exhibitionist with our resident fighter Kane Bentley, and has been more than a bit handsy in public with one Guillermo Reyes, who is his own can of worms when it comes to relationships. That boy has never been the particularly loyal type if his track record is to be believed. Good luck to his so-called partner, since Mr. Reyes is clearly not nearly as put together as his eldest sister.

But I digress, no need to name every single one of her bedroom companions, after all. Honestly, Mr. Hilton, if you want to show you're not truly hurt by Mr. Jefferson's rejection, there are much more believable girls to say are your girlfriend if you really must carry on this way. I hear that Jessica Sinclair is single and recently heartbroken by a handsome firefighter who is quite the town disaster. Poor thing. 

Speaking of, what to say about someone like Nathanial Dawson? You'd think that with his son in town, he'd clean up his act, or at the very least that his captains would be able to keep a better handle on him. And yet he's been frequently spotted at the bar, more than a few drinks in, most notably with [REDACTED] and [REDACTED]. 

He has also been seen with one of our elementary school teachers, Mr. Edgar Wayne. Something about sharing a pair of orange pants? I’ll be honest, I may be a bit past my prime when it comes to understanding all these new euphemisms. Still, someone may want to inform Principal Yvette Alson about this, since I doubt she wants to see her best friend dragged down to Mr. Dawson's rock bottom. Mr. Wayne may wish to reconsider this friendship for the sake of maintaining some sense of professionalism. I already have reports of parents being very concerned about someone with his associations teaching their children. You are an example for the youth of this town, sir. 

I do hope the Fire Station Captains can help Mr. Dawson get the help he seems to desperately need. But on the subject of one of those captains, there has recently been a lot of chatter about him thanks to one Zoë Clark, who seems to be quite the busy bee as of late—though whether that's because she has some type of personal vendetta against our Mayor is anyone's guess. Multiple people have verified she is causing quite a stir with talks of having an election. Now I won't say how I feel about that, in the spirit of keeping this column a neutral, third party space, but I can confirm that she has pitched Fire Captain Phoenix Romero-Sawyer and Louis Ryan as suitable replacements.

Whether others will agree with this assessment, or might even throw their own name into the ring, remains to be seen. Personally, I do think either of these two members of founding families would make fine mayors, and with their long standing ties to the town, you know that they'd look out for everyone. Then again, Mayor Nat has done a tremendous job for over a decade, and some might not wish to fix what isn't broken.

Finally, a serious note of warning. There is a new resident in our town who has been seen physically assaulting another citizen. I would tread very carefully with those you interact with in the coming days—especially strangers. Seems some people are wound too tight and you never know who's going to blow up.

With the others gone, it seemed that only Yvette and Bev were left to man the ship for now. Not that Beverly really minded. It was easy to field questions about both the play and the ballet with Yvette around, though admittedly, the ballet made her a smidge more nervous as a performer rather than one of the writers.

She leaned her head against her friend's shoulder, letting out a deep sigh. "Do you think we'll actually get out of here in time to get ready?" She asked softly. "I'm not doing anything too intricate but with my luck, it'll still take forever..." She felt like there was a ton she needed to update her on, but maybe the easiest topic was getting ready to start with.

Yvette did not know what had possessed her to go to the treehouse that day. Perhaps it was working on the play and remembering how much she had loved sharing her passion for the arts with Riley and her friends. Perhaps it was seeing Ames for coffee a few days earlier and reading the new pages she had drawn for her book. Either way, she found herself standing at the bottom of the tree, a basket with Riley's favourite foods in hand, before taking a deep breath and slowly making the climb up.

She was about halfway up when she heard a sound from the treehouse. It was faint, growing louder as she got closer, but she knew immediately what it was—or rather who it was. Pushing the basket inside, she crawled up into the space and immediately made her way to Reggie, her own eyes already tearing up before she could even reach him. "Hey," she said softly, laying down on the floor next to him before she could think twice about it and wrapping her arms around him. "Hey. It's me. I'm here."

The first born child of Charlotte and Christopher Ryan, he was everything they ever wanted, perfect little baby boy for the first couple of years of his life they doted on him, gave him everything he could ever want but things changed when they had their second child and third and...fourth and fifth, suddenly Louis found himself having to take care of his siblings as well as himself while his parents were out at work in their families old hardware store. He would make sure they bathed and ready for school.

When he turned twenty, he had enough, told his parents he was leaving, packed up whatever he could stuff into a back pack and left. He ended up travelling around and never settling, never ended up having the life he wished he had, he had no stable jobs, no stable home, nothing. Then a call came around thirteen years ago from a sister who told him that their dad was in hospital. That caused him to rush back home to Huntsville just in time to grieve with his family as their dad passed.

Louis fell straight back into that guardian role for his siblings seeing as his mom couldn't get out of bed, her husband had been the love of her life after all. So there he was, getting them ready for school or work, making sure they had everything they needed that Louis didn't notice his own life passing him by.

It's been thirteen years since he came back to town and now he's feeling stuck, stuck because his life isn't anything like he planned, stuck because of the paradox, just stuck. Luckily it hasn't turned him into a bitter man.

It felt a little surreal to Yvette to walk around as a guest in a house that she had once lived in—surreal, but also oddly comforting. It wasn't her home anymore, but it was a familiar place with a familiar person in it, which helped her feel grounded. No matter what had happened between them in the past, Reggie was still the person she had known the longest in town, and arguably one of the people who knew her the best.

Taking a deep breath, she gave herself a second before knocking, cracking the door open when she got a response.

Evie had a nice but largely uneventful childhood. She grew up in an average suburb with an average nuclear family and went to an average school where she got decent grades. Her parents liked to claim that her effervescent personality made her the wild child of the family, but in her mind, she was never a troublemaker on purpose—just someone who loved adventure and often found herself feeling stifled by routine.

She met her future husband, Reggie Alson, when she was in her first year in college, and they started dating a couple of years later. After that, things seemed to fall into place pretty naturally for them, and even if it was a lot faster than she had planned on settling down, it felt right. When they discovered that she was pregnant, they decided to relocate to Huntsville—a town they had visited when they first got together and had both fallen in love with because of the easy access to nature and the sense of community. He got a job at the Sheriff's Office, she got one at the local elementary school, and together they welcomed their daughter, Riley, into the world.

She was delighted to discover that Riley had inherited more than a little of her curious and adventurous nature, and Evie made a point not to discourage that in her, thinking back to how her own much stricter upbringing had made her feel caged in at times. However, she would come to regret that when a little over a year into the paradox, the relentless inquisitiveness that she loved so much in her daughter became the very reason that her daughter was permanently taken from her and her husband.

Neither of them took Riley's death well, but while Evie tried to be constructive in her grief, Reggie went in the opposite direction—disappearing into a bottle and leaving his wife to essentially mourn by herself. It put a strain on their marriage that resulted in Evie seeking solace elsewhere, and the two eventually separated under less than ideal circumstances. She still cares about him, and she regrets hurting him, but she knows in her heart that their marriage was over long before her infidelity.

Nowadays, Evie is simply trying to make the best out of a bad situation. She does not regret her marriage, and she certainly does not regret having Riley, but she has come to realise that getting married as young as she did meant that she never really got a chance to figure out who she was outside of being a wife and a mother. She misses her daughter every day, and she wishes that she could start over somewhere else, but she's trying her best to move on in a town that literally won't let her leave.
