Hello Lovelies!
Now Ren Faire has been over for quite some time, but it seems plenty of our folks didn’t quite get the memo. I have received reports of multiple fights breaking out all over town, some physical and others verbal, and there’s been more than a fair share of heartbreak.
Allegedly famous in the outside world, Liam Jefferson and Hunter Hilton had a full on brawl ending in the pair being physically ripped from each other by concerned citizens. From the looks of it, it seems as though Mr. Hilton was turned down by Mr. Jefferson and was not taking the rejection well. It's not surprising that Mr. Jefferson has better things to do considering that he is a new father of two. Really, Mr. Hilton should dust himself off—just because one boy rejects you doesn't mean you need to rush back into the closet.
You especially don't need to be yelling from the rooftops that you have a girlfriend. Quite the rebound from the looks of it, though I find it hard to believe Miss Valeria Moreno is settling down. That is one girl who has never been afraid to let the world know she is available for anything casual. Word on the street is that she has quite the extensive roster of hookups collected from our town. Her own roommate Saffron Aubert is reportedly much more than a roommate, which I have to give them credit for, is convenient considering the close proximity. She has also been spotted kissing fellow rangers Marcus Zhao and Cain Barlowe, is not afraid to get a little risque and exhibitionist with our resident fighter Kane Bentley, and has been more than a bit handsy in public with one Guillermo Reyes, who is his own can of worms when it comes to relationships. That boy has never been the particularly loyal type if his track record is to be believed. Good luck to his so-called partner, since Mr. Reyes is clearly not nearly as put together as his eldest sister.
But I digress, no need to name every single one of her bedroom companions, after all. Honestly, Mr. Hilton, if you want to show you're not truly hurt by Mr. Jefferson's rejection, there are much more believable girls to say are your girlfriend if you really must carry on this way. I hear that Jessica Sinclair is single and recently heartbroken by a handsome firefighter who is quite the town disaster. Poor thing.
Speaking of, what to say about someone like Nathanial Dawson? You'd think that with his son in town, he'd clean up his act, or at the very least that his captains would be able to keep a better handle on him. And yet he's been frequently spotted at the bar, more than a few drinks in, most notably with [REDACTED] and [REDACTED].
He has also been seen with one of our elementary school teachers, Mr. Edgar Wayne. Something about sharing a pair of orange pants? I’ll be honest, I may be a bit past my prime when it comes to understanding all these new euphemisms. Still, someone may want to inform Principal Yvette Alson about this, since I doubt she wants to see her best friend dragged down to Mr. Dawson's rock bottom. Mr. Wayne may wish to reconsider this friendship for the sake of maintaining some sense of professionalism. I already have reports of parents being very concerned about someone with his associations teaching their children. You are an example for the youth of this town, sir.
I do hope the Fire Station Captains can help Mr. Dawson get the help he seems to desperately need. But on the subject of one of those captains, there has recently been a lot of chatter about him thanks to one Zoë Clark, who seems to be quite the busy bee as of late—though whether that's because she has some type of personal vendetta against our Mayor is anyone's guess. Multiple people have verified she is causing quite a stir with talks of having an election. Now I won't say how I feel about that, in the spirit of keeping this column a neutral, third party space, but I can confirm that she has pitched Fire Captain Phoenix Romero-Sawyer and Louis Ryan as suitable replacements.
Whether others will agree with this assessment, or might even throw their own name into the ring, remains to be seen. Personally, I do think either of these two members of founding families would make fine mayors, and with their long standing ties to the town, you know that they'd look out for everyone. Then again, Mayor Nat has done a tremendous job for over a decade, and some might not wish to fix what isn't broken.
Finally, a serious note of warning. There is a new resident in our town who has been seen physically assaulting another citizen. I would tread very carefully with those you interact with in the coming days—especially strangers. Seems some people are wound too tight and you never know who's going to blow up.
That's all I have for you today, because I am running out of printing space even though I have a few things left in my little inbox. At least it gives you all something to look forward to—other than the upcoming Pumpkin Festival of course!
Love, Auntie G.

A Change of Plans
Zoë might be poor now, but also, she might not care? Not sure where this is going tbh.
When he had finished going over the terms of the will, Mr. Clark asked me whether I had any questions. “Just one,” I said, widening my eyes and trying to look innocent. “Do you have any restaurant recommendations in Shang Simla? Something small, intimate–you know, not too tourist-y?”   I enjoyed every one of the 15 seconds it took Mr. Clark to recover his powers of speech.

"Damn," Kiara said softly, feeling a bit overwhelmed hearing all that. "Um, yeah, I just got here a few weeks ago. My, uh, my sister died in the recent earthquake." She paused, wondering if this stranger would know. "Her name was Zoë? Zoë Clark . . . it's okay if you didn't know her. She was never the most popular person."

WANTED CONNECTION.
ANTON DEVLAUX ( sean teale ) is looking for his EX-GIRLFRIEND/HUNTRESS. They are currently 30-35 and could look like LOGAN BROWNING, ALYCIA DEBNAM-CAREY, ELIZABETH DEBICKI, IMOGEN POOTS, ZOË KRAVTIZ, EMILIA CLARKE, OR UTP. you DON’T NEED TO contact the member first. @antondevlaux
REQUIRED INFORMATION.
Anton’s ex is a quiet woman, someone who he could sit with in silence and read, or debate t length about the mechanics of the universe. He wasn’t quite sure when he began pulling away — his hatred for what he was ever growing and his need to avenge his father's death. When he lost her, watching, walking away, only by fault of his own, he spiralled. On the outside, he looked devoid of emotion, but on the inside, he was distraught. He never quite got over her, and when he sees her at meetings, or on the road — he still wishes for a life he gave up. The way the writer wants to write her is completely up to them. She’s a hunter, and they met on the road working a job together. Anton likes intelligent women and likes to connect on deep levels. Anton is quite sarcastic, and very anti-social therefore, she would’ve had to deal with his moodiness. But in her presence, he lit up; he softened. The suggest faceclaim's are just ideas, you’re free to pick whoever. If you wanted to use eighties or nineteens faceclaim's or a woc !!! I'd be over the moon.

in loving memory . . .
this week we officially said goodbye to three members of our community.
Minnie Garcia only recently changed her name, separating herself from the Davenport legacy to join the Garcia family. those that new her well say she was a bright spot in their lives, no-nonsense yet compassionate. her memorial service took place on Monday, and was quite full. she was obviously well-loved and will be sorely missed.
Samantha Thompson's service took place on Wednesday. those that frequented Bucky's Diner knew her by her friendly smile and big personality. her diner family attended and spoke many lovely words and platitudes. the diner will never be the same without her vivacious presence.
Zoë Clark was a controversial figure. her memorial service on Friday was much smaller than the previous two. known for her bluntness and determination, she offered interesting opinions and spoke often of the documentary she was making of this town and its people. there was one person who seemed quite emotional at her service: her fiancé Zain Madan, who apparently was with her when she died and failed to save her.
it is always a tragedy when one of our own passes, and October 31st marked an incredibly hard blow. our heart goes out to those grieving in the aftermath, and we hope those that need it seek counseling in this difficult time.

WHERE: BUCKY'S DINER. WHO: ZOË (@ambercast)
on her lunch break, astrid decided to go to bucky's diner for something to eat and some coffee to keep her going until the end of the day. what she didn't order was another grilling from resident journalist zoë clark.
letting out a sigh, she gently placed her fork down on her plate "yes zoë, what questions do you have for me today?"

Hello Lovelies ~~
Well, let's give a big cheer to the wonderful electricians for fixing the power around here. It makes it so much easier to be able to work. These hands aren’t what they used to be, and trying to write up everything on pen and paper really did make it feel like we were living in medieval times. That being said, you all have been finding some very creative ways of keeping yourselves busy and entertained this past summer.
It seems the Commune is very much struggling currently. We’ve all heard about poor Mr. Abernathy, which is a tragedy for all, and he will be very much missed. However, it seems there have been cracks in the foundation of that house long before this. Antonio Estrada Jr has been removed from his position as secondary leader of the house. Why this could be is anyone’s guess, though it has been shared he is also leaving the house altogether, alongside Mylene Karimi. Two long-time members leaving during such a somber time does put into question how well things are at the Commune. Is it possible Sunflower’s increased strictness could be doing more harm than good? So much for one big, happy family.
There is also the matter of how well those two will adjust back into town life - especially for Antonio. Poor Mylene may well have to be the main breadwinner for those two. Once again, my sources tell me that Theodore Collins was brought up in regards to Antonio’s removal as second-in-command, since those two just can’t seem to settle down. Whether their grudge may escalate now that he’s no longer at the Commune remains to be seen.
Although speaking of Mr. Collins, he has been quite the social butterfly, seen once again cozying up with our very own Officer Morgan Vovk. Bit of an odd time to continue flirting with a taken woman who's trying to rebuild her family, if you ask me. But to each their own, I suppose. Who knows? Maybe Officer Vovk would prefer a younger man nowadays?
With no power it seems others have had the same idea of meeting up in the late hours of the night. Zoë Clarke has been spotted quite a few times now leaving Axel Addams’s house in the early mornings. Now I know she loves to conduct her own interviews, but it is highly doubtful the two are doing much talking during these meetups, don’t you think? If I may provide one piece of advice for the possible new couple: make sure to clarify how exclusive you are. Communication seems to be a pressing issue lately in this town.
On a final, happier note, we do have to congratulate our Principal Christoper Winters and Miss Emma Dunford on starting a family. While Josie Reigh seems to have continued her wild adventures, it seems she is learning the hard way that actions do, in fact, have consequences. Thankfully, the two have graciously agreed to take the future bundle of joy from her when the time comes. A wise decision in my opinion, the two are much more capable of raising a child. Now if you’ll excuse me, I am going to go enjoy some much needed AC. Although please try not to let things cool down too much around here. I’m always happy to provide a listening ear to you all. Love, Auntie G.

When athletic teen Mari Collingwood (Sara Paxton) opts to hang out with her friend Paige in town rather than spend an evening in with her parents vacationing at the family’s remote lake house, it marks the beginning of a night no one is going to forget. The two girls wind up in the company of escaped convict Krug (Garret Dillahunt) and his makeshift family of vile career criminals, who kidnap and brutally assault them before leaving them for dead. Fleeing from the scene of their violent crime during a storm, the thugs inadvertently seek refuge with Mari’s parents, anxious as to why their daughter hasn’t come home yet and primed to unleash the full forces of hell on anyone who would dare to touch so much as a hair on her head.

A Christmas Carol Holiday Season: "A Christmas Carol" (1977 TV film)
Tumblr media
Until 2019, as far as I know, this lesser-known hour-long Christmas Carol was the only version of Dickens's classic produced by the BBC. Besides this fact, its main draw is the actor who plays Scrooge: 66-year-old Sir Michael Hordern, who had previously featured in two other versions of A Christmas Carol as Marley's Ghost.
Like most of the BBC's literary adaptations from the '70s and '80s, this one is modest in budget and not very cinematic or visually striking, but it's very faithful to the book. About 80% to 90% of the dialogue comes straight from Dickens, and several scenes are included that rarely appear in other adaptations. We see Belle (Zoë Wanamaker) with her husband in Christmas Past, and later, we see the poor debtor couple saved from ruin by Scrooge's death in Christmas Yet to Come. Even the famous opening line of "Marley was dead: to begin with" gets a visual illustration, as the production opens with Marley (John Le Mesurier) lying in his coffin. The only real departures from Dickens are the scaling-down of certain scenes and reduction of the number of characters in them, probably due to the production's modest budget. Belle's happy Christmas Eve with her husband doesn't include any children; Fred (Paul Copely) and his wife spend their Christmas Day with just another couple (and ultimately Scrooge), not a houseful of party guests; and Old Joe's rag-and-bone shop is omitted, with Mrs. Dilber and the undertaker's man meeting in Scrooge's bedroom as they rob it instead. Yet these reductions don't detract from the story. They only enhance the production's intimacy, and the intimacy of this Carol is part of its charm.
Of course the main question is still "Is Michael Hordern's Scrooge as good as his Marley in 1951 and 1971?" Personally, I'd say no. Playing a hard, cold character just wasn't his strength; at the beginning, he comes across as a grumpy yet endearingly befuddled old gentleman, not the "tight-fisted hand at the grindstone" that the plot requires. That said, he becomes much more at home as Scrooge becomes a vulnerable and likable character, particularly bringing out the humor of his attempts to make casual conversation with his ghostly visitors. Meanwhile, the supporting cast is strong throughout. Besides those mentioned above, other standouts include Clive Merrison as Bob Cratchit, Carol MacReady as his wife, Patricia Quinn (The Rocky Horror Picture Show) as a Ghost of Christmas Past portrayed as a beautiful yet otherworldly and eerie young woman, Bernard Lee (the James Bond series) as the Ghost of Christmas Present, and a young Zelah Clarke (a.k.a. the title character in the BBC's beloved 1983 miniseries of Jane Eyre) as Martha Cratchit.
Is this a definitive Christmas Carol? No. But it's worth seeing!

❧ Name: Kiara Clark ❧ Nickname: Kie (key) ❧ Age: 26 ❧ Gender: Nonbinary, she/they ❧ Orientation: Pansexual ❧ Relationship: Single ❧ Occupation: Assistant Librarian/Photojournalist ❧ Residence: The Commune ❧ Title: The Determined ❧ Faceclaim: Zendaya Coleman
❧ Personality -
Friendly / Charismatic / Intelligent / Creative Stubborn / Nosy / Sneaky / Willful
❧ Introduction -
Being adopted into an already successful family was a lot of pressure from the beginning. Kiara looked up to her sister Zoë, always admiring how determined and hardworking she was. Unfortunately, being so focused on success meant that Kiara was often pushed to the wayside, forgotten.
This just made her all the more focused on standing out, making her older sister proud of her. She joined dance and choir at school, attempting to find herself in the arts and set herself apart from Zoë’s career path. Unfortunately, it did little to catch her sister’s attention. Finally, Kiara took up photography, finding that she genuinely enjoyed telling stories through photographs. That caught Zoë’s interest.
While in college, Zoë used Kiara’s photos in her journalism projects, using them to boost her online views and gather more interest into the subject matter. Kiara didn’t mind her talents being used like this, because finally Zoë was engaging with her and spending time with her.
Then Zoë graduated and moved to DC, leaving Kiara behind. This broke her heart but also gave her time to figure out who she was apart from Zoë. She discovered she wasn’t entirely cis and started going by she/they. She found her own voice in photography and began working on a portfolio.
They got into a good college for photojournalism and found a true passion for it. Being able to tell her own story, not anyone else’s, gave her more confidence. She was excited to show Zoë what she’d accomplished without her, but then their sister never made it back home for Christmas.
It took some digging, but Kiara discovered that Zoë went missing investigating the town of Huntsville, and that her fiancé disappeared soon after following in Zoë footsteps. Determined to figure out what was going on, Kiara left for Huntsville themselves, only to find herself trapped and her sister dead.

on october 31st, it started as a rumble: a low sound deep within the earth. the telephone poles and street signs began to sway. the ground shifted and opened up: a jagged split down the middle of main street, three feet wide and fifty feet long, revealing a black void beneath.
buildings cracked and crumbled. the huntsville bank lost a third of it's structure; the shelves in the library toppled and crashed into each other; pete's garage collapsed completely; the playground in the park slid to an angle.
the earthquake destroyed all the booths and stalls for the festival. a fire broke out in one of the haunted houses. a pipe burst, spraying the street with water. destruction and devastation reigned down upon main street.
it lasted a total of five minutes before the ground and dust settled and people were able to take stock of what just happened. Mayor Natasha rounded up the police and fire departments, sending them on a search and rescue to ensure everyone was recovered in some form or another and to put out the fires and check that every door with a protection rune remained intact.
shock and horror gained traction over the course of the next several hours, as reports came in. three individuals were killed and dozens were injured. Sunflower Parsons was declared missing, as her body was not recovered and no one could remember where they saw her last.
the list of deaths were posted the next morning: Minnie Garcia, Sammie Thompson, and Zoë Clark.
(below the cut are the people who were injured in alphabetical order. the muns can determine how severe the injuries are, up to and including loss of limb/disability. due to the nature of the disaster, those not listed can still have minor cuts and bruises. the event concludes on nov 11th, at which time no new event threads may be posted and we catch up to the ooc present. you will still be allowed to continue event threads until completion.)
