Yamaha irá con siete YXZ1000 Turbo a desafiar el Dakar 2023 incluyendo a la dupla chilena de Ignacio Casale y Álvaro León

El equipo X-Raid Yamaha va con todo en búsqueda de desbancar a los dominantes Can-Am en la categoría T3 del Dakar. Luego de que la consistencia de Camelia Liparoti les entregara un inesperado segundo puesto en 2021, la ambición de Yamaha es más grande y este año ampliarán la escudería a 7 unidades buscando el podio general. Las siete duplas están lideradas por Liparoti y su navegante Xavier Blanco, que han sido responsables de seguir desarrollando el Yamaha YXZ1000 Turbo durante el Mundial de Rally Raid y el Campeonato de Medio Oriente y que obtuvieron un sexto puesto en la edición 2022 del Dakar.

Además de Liparoti y Blanco, habrá otras dos duplas conducidas por una mujer con la piloto alemana Annett Fischer y su navegante ex-motard Anie Seel, ganadoras del trofeo femenino en 2022 y la española Merce Martí junto a Lisette Bakker.

El resto del equipo lo integran la dupla chilena de Ignacio Casale y Álvaro León, que vienen de dos años en la clase Camiones tras el debut de Casale en SSV en 2019, el portugués Ricardo Porem junto al navegante argentino Augusto Sanz, el portugués Joao Ferreira, habitual de los eventos europeos de rally raid junto al experimentado navegante Filipe Palmeiro y el qatarí Ahmed Alkuwari Fahad junto al ex-motard y preparador italiano Manuel Lucchesse. 

Para enfrentar a Can-Am, Yamaha ha mejorado la suspensión, chasis y distancia entre ejes del YXZ1000 Turbo además de entregar una nueva versión del motor 998 cc DOHC de tres cilindros en línea turbocargado.

Ignacio Casale y un desafío con mucho potencial en el equipo X-Raid Yamaha para el Dakar 2023 en la clase T3

Ignacio Casale estuvo cerca de optar por no correr el Dakar 2023 al salir del equipo Buggyra. Prefería obtener la mejor opción a disputar por un triunfo general ya fuera en Camiones o SSV a tener que aceptar un puesto solo para correr. Sin embargo, en esa espera recibió la oportunidad soñada que él califica como la mayor de su carrera deportiva: Correr para el equipo oficial X-Raid Yamaha en la categoría T3 de Prototipos Ligeros. Casale será piloto oficial por primera vez y junto a la marca que ha representado toda su carrera deportiva. 

La oportunidad abre muchas puertas para lo que puede seguir siendo el futuro de Ignacio en el Dakar y el rally cross country. Si bien Yamaha no es hoy la referencia en los SSV o Prototipos Ligeros T3, está invirtiendo importantes recursos en conseguir ser competitivo y estar respaldado por los 20 años de experiencia del X-Raid en la preparación de su YXZ 1000 Turbo es un respaldo de que la marca se está tomando en serio su lucha para desbancar a Can-Am. Es algo que lleva preparando ya por un par de años y que va creciendo de a poco y que tendrá en Casale una oportunidad de demostrar con un piloto de gran nivel que tan preparados están para la lucha.

En este mismo programa hace dos años debutó Mattias Ekstrom y su buen nivel le permitió ser considerado por Audi y Q Motorsport (de la misma propiedad de X-Raid) para un puesto en uno de los vehículos más competitivos de la categoría Autos. Más allá de eso, si el programa de Yamaha demuestra ritmo, puede permitir que Casale tenga opciones de disputar el título general de la clase T3 ya sea este año o los próximos.

El desafío de la clase T3 de correr con cualquier auto que no sea un Can-Am es grande. Pero Casale ya ha demostrado en su carrera en Quads y en sus dos años en los camiones que se atreve a disputar estos eventos no necesariamente siendo el favorito. Can-Am no pierde en T3 o T4 desde 2017 cuando se impuso Polaris. Veremos si Yamaha puede plantear un desafío interesante y la segunda largada de Casale en SSV termina en un resultado destacado. De momento, la oportunidad merecía totalmente ser aprovechada.

Each Cognito shock tuning kit for the Yamaha YXZ1000R includes the parts required to tune two shocks to ensure a seamless installation process. It’s important to note that the OE RC2 kits do not include shocks, springs, or common wear items. It is the responsibility of the installer to ensure the shocks are not too worn to install this kit. For example, shocks used in harsh conditions, such as desert racing, need to be rebuilt a minimum of every 1,000 miles. The level of wear based on mileage will vary from vehicle to vehicle.
