Reaction to Ep 463
SPOILERS ALERT
TW: trauma, possible sexual assault
This is an episode dedicated to friendships. In one friendship, a character promised a friend to kill a common enemy, while in another, a character was faced with the bitter reality of a friend's changed self.
Tumblr media
Before the D-Day of the Grimm Asylum attack, Vin (Hobin) came to see Mary (Miru). Since he cryptically said that he had to say something to her face, she was mortified that he'd probably confess his feelings for her or something. But he laughed it off (I always drift in between shipping and not shipping them but I just love LOVE this banter).
Vin proceeded to tell Mary that Taejin was still alive. Mary was enraged, so much that she insisted on killing Taejin.
Tumblr media
But Vin told her that she didn't need to kill people. Vin's hands were already dirtied by murdering another person before, so he said that he'd be the one who killed Taejin this time. (So he did take a life? Who was the victim? Was it an accident? Was it a righteous murder? Was it a moment of rage?)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Taejin was proven to be too strong for Vin, however, and he taunted Vin that pinning Vin down made him remember the "good memories" of Cheonliang and "that bitch who I also caught like this"... And we got the panel of a dead young girl, said to be Hobin's little sister (Her clothes were loosened? Was it both a sexual and a physical assault? OMG NO NO NOOO) .
Tumblr media
Vin was in shocked disbelief to realize that Taejin had grown monstrously strong. Apparently Taejin was the sole survivor of the Endless Hell experiment era of the asylum. Aw hell nah.
Tumblr media
(No you're not gonna cosplay as Gun (Jonggun) or D.G. in that red panel, Taejin. Dream on.)
Zack (Jinsung) wasn't held back much by Yisoo, who baited him to open a door that led to...
Tumblr media
....Johan. (Welcome back, Johan!!)
Tumblr media
As predicted, Johan came back, but came back all wrong. Jinyoung and Hangyeol had tweaked his brain to only dwell on rage. (Is he some kind of Frankenstein's creature now? Is this it?)
Tumblr media
And it seems that there was "method in Taejin's madness", to quote a line in Shakespeare's Hamlet, since he seemed to be calm enough to be in the know of the nefarious plan to let Allied members met their own separate matches.
Tumblr media
My guess is Daniel (Hyungseok) will have to fight his other self (*shudders*), maybe either together with Jay or alone, while Jake (Gimyung) will have to fight Sammy (Seongeun)...

Have any fun facts about the science kids in scarlet beetle & Ikati black au or otherwise?
Marc:
This guy has always been tall for his age. In seventh grade, he was mistaken for a teacher’s aid
He got gum in his hair, let Marcel cut it out, and the rest you know
Makeover parties hosted by him, Cosette, and Jean
He doesn’t need heels, but he still wears them because they make his legs look badass
Used to wear glasses before he switched to contacts. He got bullied a lot, and his glasses were everyone’s favorite to flush down the toilet
Marc’s been a fan of Nathaniel’s artwork for a long time and had a little fanboy moment the first time he actually talked to him
Carries around scissors just to cut up his jeans
Competes in poetry slams and limerick contests… He throws up in private afterwards because he just spoke in front of a bunch of people
Considering joining the school’s soccer team during the spring season
He owns a shit-ton of jewelry so no one will question a certain brooch on his shirt
Jean:
Has been getting the lead role in dozens of plays and musicals since he was six and played JoJo in Seussical
Often auditions for female roles because he knows he can hit those high notes. He’s plays Christine Canigula, Annie, Matilda Wormwood, and Coraline
He wears sweaters and sweater vests primarily, and if he’s wearing a regular shirt, it needs to have a quote from a musical or playbill design printed on the front
His mom left him and his dad because… She was kinda the worst. She left to be with her lover and didn’t bother trying to get custody of Jean
They absolutely LOATHE Glee for the sole reason that Rachel Berry just… Is there.
Learned to play the guitar to audition for Zack in School of Rock the musical
Has been besties with Lacey since they were five and his mom walked out. She was the one to make him feel better when his dad couldn’t
He will belt out a song from a musical when given the opportunity. He sang Our Lady of the Underground during lunch in the seventh grade and was given a standing ovation
Reshma’s BFF in Cosplay- She does anime, he does theater. Of course, they did a little Death Note: The Musical cosplay with Reshma as Light and Jean as Ryuk
Vice President of the theater club, assisting Myléne
A bit of a romantic
Developed a crush on Marc during their freshman year when he calmed them down when they were having a panic attack a few minutes before a show. After that, they just began noticing all these small things about him
He and Lacey have a “Black Eye Swear” Don’t ask, but it means they won’t tell other people a secret they tell each other under no circumstances, even if it prevents the end of the world
… Also, they crossdress
Lacey:
She’s cute, but badass
She loves thrill seeking and will be up to any challenge. Her friends all have white hair because of her
Lacey is the oldest of three and lives with her grandparents due to her parents dying in a car crash a few years back when she was twelve
Nervous about letting her brothers watch Disney movies due to most of the protagonists being orphans. She especially doesn’t want them watching Big Hero 6
Wears a lot of sneakers and hiking boots
Has been keeping her rock climbing gear in their locker ever since Monarch made his appearance
When she’s stressed, she cuts her hair, but her grandparents finally got her to stop and they settled on a messy bob cut
Likes to give hugs rather than receive them, but as long as she has someone’s permission
Gets sunburned easily. Aurore carries a spare parasol for her
She likes rap music… That is all
Aurore:
She has the perfectionism of Meilin Lee, Light Yagami, Isabela Madrigal, and Bakugou Katsuki
Aurore has this need to succeed at every little thing due to her parents setting high expectations for her ever since was born from vocal lessons, to athletics, academics, the way she dressed, and even her hair when it started going brunette
Her friends keep trying to convince her to embrace the brunette, but her parents are still breathing down her neck
Her parents mean well, but they don’t realize the amount of pressure they’re putting on Aurore. It’s what drove their son away
She plays the violin, her little sister, Catherine can sing, and her brother, Rafael plays the cello
Rafael is VERY protective of his sisters and takes time out of his day to help them relax because Aurore has a ton of anxiety and Catherine is still a child who’s afraid of upsetting her parents
Aurore owns a lot of waterproof clothing in case it rains
She can’t sing even if her life depended on it
This girl has successfully snuck snacks and drinks into movie theaters, enough to share with her friends, and she’ll do it again
Thinks about taking Catherine and living with Rafael
Mireille:
Has some serious self esteem issues because of Alec’s meddling and is worried she doesn’t earn some of her accomplishments
Does her own hair to save money
Shy as hell but will make a scene when necessary
She’s good at speaking in front of crowds due to Alec, but she immediately throws up afterwards
Mireille/Marc: *Hurling after doing some public speaking; fist bump*
Is pretty good at singing, but had only ever sung in front of Aurore
Owns a lot of headbands
Used to be friends with Sabrina before she started hanging out with Chloé… Kind of has feelings for her
Takes kickboxing as an outlet for her repressed anger
She’s always the first to see any of Theo’s art, and she was actually an inspiration for a few pieces
Cosette:
Makes their own jewelry and pins
Will smack a bitch if they make fun of her vitiligo. Sometimes bite
“Let’s make jokes to mask our pain!” 🥲
Because Yvette and Jordyn are their brother and sister, they have over three hundred comebacks to every possibly insult planned and written in a sparkly pink notebook
Only use in case of an emergency
The Bellamy’s are almost like the Blight Family, overbearing perfectionist mother, silent but loving father, fraternal twins
… Their mom is just the worst, really. Terrible, awful. She withholds any kind of affection from her kids, doesn’t give one shred of congratulations for an accomplishment, and puts her kids down whenever she gets the chance
Wants to become a makeup artist and its friend are more than happy to be its models
Has actually created their own eyeshadow and lipstick. They sell well online, and their family has no idea
Has about five of those Caboodles makeup carrying cases from the 80s. They just love them so much! They can’t stop buying them!
Zoé:
Audrey had an affair. Was it only two? Who knows?
Had her hair bleached when she was three
She was forced to compete in pageants, make only rich friends, and wear anything Audrey made
Her dad loves her to bits and does whatever he can to make her happy
She and Cosette met during the class’s field trip to New York. They helped her escape from some of her bullies
Then Zoé returned the favor by giving them a private tour of the city
She learned how to play the bass when she was twelve
Shares Marc’s love for punk rock outfits
She actually does know how to ride a motorcycle
Her looks is pre-What Else Can I Do? Isabella in New York and post in Paris. (Prep school girl to punk rock gender)
Denise:
A child of the earth who has no idea what the word “shame” means and encourages everyone to embrace their truest selves
Knows how to play the drums, cuz that’s a total hippie thing
Physically strong but oftentimes, emotionally weak
They Pride themself on being reliable and dread the day when people don’t need them
To cope, they do a little stargazing, embroidery, and oftentimes meditate
Doesn’t eat meat often. They’re not a vegetarian, they just don’t like the taste. Faux meat on the other hand? Delicious
Their parents are okay, but they tend to overwork Denise as the oldest twin and the strongest in the family, but Denise is too nervous to call them out and sucks it up whenever they have a muscle cramp
Makes sure Simon goes to sleep when he’s working on another video or doing some hacking. Just in case, they bring him some coffee in the morning
Has a twin sister named Cerise… They don’t get along perfectly
Is a pacifist, but if there’s even a scratch on one of their friends, Cerise, and especially on Simon… They’ll knock you out
Simon:
ROTMNT Donnie meets Kaminari Denki meets KG Lebowitz-Jenkins
Doesn’t really wear his emotions on his sleeves unless he’s around close friends, his aunt, or Denise
Sarcastic as hell, but they prefer the term, “Witty”
Was born with pointy ears, no, they are not a leprechaun
Has the worst possible relationship with his parents. They were physically and mentally abusive, negligent, and it was a miracle Simon was even able to get food
He eventually got out of that house when he was seven and a neighbor called the police when she saw Simon’s burn scars. His aunt got custody, and has been doing everything she can to make up for all those years
A progressive Catholic
They like making AMVs and just music videos in general. Sometimes they use footage from shows, and other times, they’ll do animatics which come out real smooth
Owns a tablet, smartphone, laptop, two monitors, a drone, and a Nintendo Switch
Somewhere on the spectrum, but his aunt wants him to request an official diagnosis rather springing one on him at random
Reshma:
Yaoyorozu Momo meets post What Else Can I Do? Isabella
Can come off as a little pompous to those who don’t know her well, but she just doesn’t talk much, and her perfect posture may give the wrong vibes
LOVES magical girl shows and manga. Sailor Moon and She-Ra are her all time favorites
She wears outfits based on anime characters
Oftentimes, competes in pageants wearing dresses she designed, and they leave everyone in awe at her craftsmanship
In the Tall Lesbians Club with Juleka
Her parents are the best people you’ll ever meet. A little overprotective, but they just love her to pieces
She helps Ismael transition socially and gets a thrill out of helping him piss his mom off
Makes and sells her own jewelry, and even has a website
Tries not to be your standard spoiled rich girl, but… SHE LOVES GOING SHOPPING!
Ismael:
Will wear long sleeves no matter how hot it is
Has enough binders to swap out so he’s not wearing any of them out
Honestly couldn’t care less if anything happened to his mom
Criss Angel is one of his inspirations
Indulges Reshma when she wants to go shopping. How can he say no to that face?
Is willing to fight an Akuma if he has to
Sometimes goes to the gym with Denise
A little cynical, but not on Max from Camp Camp’s scale… He’ll never measure up to such greatness and it stings
He likes grunge music, especially Riot Grrrl stuff… What? He support female empowerment and the death metal songs about periods get him through the week
Went through an emo phase two years ago… He doesn’t wanna talk about it

final fantasy v11 remake review
Final Fantasy is an RPG. It's the only one I need, it's the RPG for me.   I like FFSeven because others like it and I only play things which are popular.
Tumblr media
Remake is a sequel to Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII and follows the story of Zack's younger brother Cloud as he spends his time in Midgar - the only place which matters (take this Fort Condor!).
When playing on my PS4 I did notice a few stutters and graphical errors but most of them were tied to a lack of integration with reality. This is a game called FANTASY after all.
Tumblr media
One of the things I was amazed by were the graphics - Jessie in particular is the star of the show and becomes Barret's replacement after an event where, (SPOILERS), a plate falls on her head and, like Barret's arm, replaced her skull with a metal one.
Tumblr media
I worried about if they'd change Tifa's personality from Crisis Core but it seems in this sequel she's still a dumb broad who offends everyone and kills innocents like Sephiroth.
Tumblr media
One of the main quests of the game is to find Zack's love interest. At first I thought this meant Aeristh but turns out it was her mother Elmyra who joins your party soon after - her broom attacks are incredible and she's instrumental in getting you to escape Midgar at the end (SPOILERS) it's a shame she has to stay behind to clean up Midgar as you take the useless Aeristh with you.
Tumblr media
All in all it has something for everyone and gives people a sense of pride and accomplishment. My favourite scene is in the Wall Street where Cloud gets to infiltrate a rival pimp's home as a woman and, if you do it correctly, seduce him as the most attractive cosplay in gaming history.
Tumblr media
I give this game 7 out of 10.

Ring of Honor “Final Battle Fallout” TV Taping Report December 15th in Philadelphia, PA
The night following Final Battle in New York City, featuring a lot of good matches but no real clues as to what will happen next year, ROH taped TV at the 2300 Arena to begin airing early next month. There was a large crowd on hand, though not an entire sellout. My biggest highlight of the night was an impromptu reunion with friend and founder John Philapavage, who I haven’t seen in years. Hanging out with him throughout most of it made the night go by smoother.
Future of Honor Match: The Bouncers (Beer City Bruiser & Brian Milonas) beat The Sons of Savagery following a leg drop by Milonas off the second rope while Bruiser held the opponent in place. Before the match happened, Rhett Titus came out in a speedo and with a trophy, flexing his muscles like he’s at a body building competition, while sultry music played; he joined in on commentary for this match, of which the Bouncers took 90%.
- Introductions for the commentary team throughout most of the night, Ian Riccaboni and Colt Cabana. Riccaboni has an entrance video where his photo appears as a bobble head doll.
1. Jeff Cobb beat Luchasaurus in a non-title Proving Ground Match with Tour of the Islands. Luchasaurus, last seen on TV getting decapitated on Lucha Underground (and before that, allegedly taking part in a season of Big Brother and helping take down Bill DeMott in NXT) could potentially fill the role vacated by Punishment Martinez. He threw a lot of kicks to take down Cobb, including a spinning kick at the start of the match for a very early nearfall. Cobb fought back, and both guys pulled off standing moonsaults. Cobb hit a belly-to-belly superplex that looked scary, followed by a piledriver, prior to the finish. Cobb continues to look dominant despite his opponents having him on the ropes, and these two scary men still shook hands before and after the match.
- Cody, The Young Bucks, and Adam Page came out for a segment likely just for the live crowd. They tossed out free shirts to the crowd. Otherwise, all Bullet Club shirts were announced as being $10 each at the show. Cody said this was the final night in ROH for all four of them. Matt Jackson proposed that they all have a match together on their final night, but Page and Cody said they did not bring their gear. Matt said that if that’s the case, they can wear the Bucks’ “Marty Jannetty cosplay” gear from Final Battle. Cody quickly backtracked and said that he did bring his gear, as well as Brandi. Page also had his gear on hand. Matt then said that he would like two of their opponents to be Best Friends, Page suggested Jay Lethal despite his bad luck against champions, and Cody chose Flip Gordon. So that match was promised for later in the night.
2. Sumie Sakai & Jenny Rose beat Team Sea Stars (Ashley Vox & Delmi Exo). I believe Rose got the pin, based on what happened shortly afterward. I had just met up with John during this, so I wasn’t entirely focused on the match.
- In a segment taped for TV to definitely air after January 1st, Riccaboni came to the ring and introduced Chris Sabin, Flip Gordon, Marty Scurll, and Dalton Castle (who came out with the Boys). He said all four men had earned shots at the ROH World Title in 2018. Sabin via going to a draw in a Proving Ground Match with Lethal, Gordon via winning the Sea of Honor Tournament, Scurll via winning Survival of the Fittest, and Castle via a contractually obligated rematch. Riccaboni said these four guys would wrestle in a 4-way to determine who would get their shot first, which would be at the HonorClub event Honor Reigns Supreme on January 13th, in Concord, NC. As Riccaboni was about to introduce the World Champion, out came Matt Taven, proclaiming himself to be the real World Champion and cutting biting promos on the four contenders, including saying Scurll was left behind by his friends on their trip to Jacksonville. Lethal came out and got in Taven’s face, and they fought in the entrance way before getting separated. The four contenders did not get physically involved.
3. Kelly Klein beat Nikki Adams to retain the Women of Honor World Title with a knee to the face. Before this match, Klein cut a promo about how she’s the new WOH World Champion and beat three other women to win it. Therefore, she’s now looking to be a fighting champion by putting her title on the line in every match, starting with this one against this newcomer from Long Island. Fairly competitive. Following Klein’s victory, Jenny Rose came back out and kind of struggled through a promo where she said she and Klein have unfinished business, as she has pinned Klein in the past. She challenged her for the title on January 13th, and she wanted it to be a Street Fight. Klein, in maybe the line of the night, promised to see her on the “streets” of Concord.
- Christopher Daniels came out in a suit. He said Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky were at home recuperating following the Ladder War at Final Battle, and that since he lost at Final Battle, he now has to say farewell. He cut a very nice speech about how he’ll remember everything, going back to the first main event against Low Ki and Bryan Danielson, and the first match for the ROH World Title in sweltering heat. He said every opponent he’s had in ROH has gone on to be his brother. He will also remember the ROH fans, and said this company will continue to grow. Once he finished, Joe Koff, who may have appeared on the entrance stage before he wrapped up, spoke about how he has rethought things about Daniels since his edict about him being done following Final Battle 2018. He said his protecting Cary Silkin at Final Battle (from Bully Ray and his kendo stick) said a lot about what he’s become and what he thinks about ROH. Therefore, he wanted to reissue a new contract to Daniels. This very nice moment was quickly ruined by a returning Shane Taylor, showing up out of nowhere to attack Daniels. Koff ran away as Taylor gave Daniels the 216 onto a chair in the ring. Taylor then tore up Daniels’ new contract, and Daniels was helped out afterward, this presumably being his sendoff.
4. Dalton Castle (w/ The Boys) won a 4-way over Chris Sabin, Flip Gordon, and Marty Scurll after hitting Sabin with the Bangarang. A number of the moments in the match saw Marty bailing to the floor and encouraging the other three to fight each other. With Castle winning the January 13th title shot here, Lethal came out and congratulated him.
5. Zack Sabre Jr. beat Tracy Williams via verbal submission to his double wrist clutch octopus stretch. A great change of pace from a lot of other things in ROH. Lots of strong back-and-forth technical wrestling throughout this one, with Williams throwing in some chops as well.
6. Madison Rayne & Dr. Britt Baker DMD beat The Twisted Sisterz (Thunder Rosa & Holidead) after Baker hit Rosa with a pumphandle facebuster.
7. Jay & Mark Briscoe beat SoCal Uncensored (Frankie Kazarian & Scorpio Sky) to retain the ROH World Tag Team Titles after they hit Kazarian with a splash mountain bomb into a neck breaker. This was announced as a TV main event and felt like a serious grudge match from the start as they threw chairs at one another. Ref Todd Sinclair was taken out at ringside when Kazarian gave one of the Briscoes a huricanrana on the floor, sending him crashing into Sinclair. With him out, the Briscoes took the opportunity to use the chairs. Ref Paul Turner took over as Kazarian countered an attempted Doomsday Device into a rollup. Sky was taken out by a Jay Driller, and there was an even bigger nearfall when Kazarian survived a superplex and the Froggy Bow. After the match, Kazarian and Sky saluted the crowd and took time to greet ringside fans as their music played, perhaps implying that they too were leaving.
- Marty Scurll came out, rhetorically asking the crowd what’s next for him. He said he made his intentions clear “last night” when he confronted Jay Lethal, and he’s coming after the World Title. The Kingdom came out, with Taven saying Scurll is kidding himself about that, and also brought up how he’s lost his friends and is all alone, as he, TK O’Ryan, and Vinny Marseglia surrounded him in the ring. Scurll said they were right about his friends leaving, but that doesn’t mean he can’t make new friends. Right then, the lights went out, with Brody King appearing in the ring once they came back on. The lights then went out again, another figure ran out to the ring, and there were flashes of electricity on the screen to signal that it was PCO (Pierre Carl Ouellet). The three of them fought off the Kingdom, with King giving Marseglia a Gonzo Bomb, and PCO following up with a moonsault off the top to the floor onto all of the Kingdom. Scurll then introduced this new trio of himself and the two new signees as Villain Enterprises.
- Intermission. At the end of it, Bobby Cruise announced that Villain Enterprises would be in action later. He then threw it to Bill Apter and another writer for Pro Wrestling Illustrated, who awarded two plaques for Best Commentary Team of 2018 to Riccaboni and Cabana. The two of them thanked everyone for this honor.
8. Eli Isom (w/ Ryan Nova) beat Facade with a brainbuster. This was announced as part of a mini-tournament to determine the #1 Contender to the ROH World Television Title (held by Jeff Cobb). Decent action, which included Isom hitting a suicide dive that nearly overshot Facade (they held it together), and Facade hitting a springboard somersault dive to the floor.
9. Rush beat TK O’Ryan with a running corner dropkick to a seated O’Ryan. My first time seeing Rush, a star from CMLL and co-founder of the original Los Ingobernables, and I was really taken by his charisma. He took part of the match to the floor, fighting O’Ryan in the crowd, hitting him with chairs, and seemingly whipping him with a camera cable. After his victory, Marseglia confronted Rush, allowing Taven to attack him from behind. As has been stated by ROH themselves, this stems from Taven’s history with Rush in CMLL, which included Taven losing his hair. The Kingdom beat him down and all gave him a conchairto. Not sure if this issue will continue in ROH (maybe the Madison Square Garden card?) or CMLL.
10. Juice Robinson beat PJ Black via disqualification. NWA World Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis came out before this match, alongside his valet Camilla, to join commentary for this match. Solid action, and Robinson was beloved, but the finish came when Black shoved ref Paul Turner into the ropes, causing Robinson to get crotched on the top. Black kicked Turner after the bell to further get heat, which makes me think he’ll be back around. Robinson got some promo time afterward, saying he didn’t come here just to win like this. He put over Philadelphia, as well as ROH for being good old fashioned pro wrestling. He said he will be back in ROH on a regular basis in 2019, and he’s looking to bring honor back to Ring of Honor.
11. Shane Taylor beat Mike Law after a knockout punch (No Hitter Quitter) and the 216. That was all there was to it. Afterward, he said people were wondering who paid for his services to take out Christopher Daniels. He revealed that nobody paid him, that he decided to do it himself, and that he’s just getting started.
- Cabana came to the ring and introduced Flip Gordon for an interview segment. He commended Gordon for defeating Bully Ray in the I Quit Match at Final Battle, and he asked him about his plans for 2019. Gordon said he dealt with a bully for eight months, and that he finally made that bully quit, so mission accomplished. He said his next mission was winning the ROH World Title. He was interrupted by Kenny King, who said that he deserved a shot at the World Title next, as he was the last person to pin Jay Lethal. In maybe a first for ROH TV, he threw to video footage of him pinning Lethal at Global Wars: Toronto last month, showing it from three different angles, but having the picture zoomed in on all of them so that they didn’t show King’s feet were on the ropes for leverage. Funny stuff. King then ridiculed Gordon for how he was caned the last time he was in this building, and he closed by calling him  a weekend warrior who got paid to join the reserves. Another new story the new year.
12. Silas Young beat Beer City Bruiser in a No DQ Match with Misery after Bruiser crashed through a table. This was another match in the TV Title #1 Contender tournament, and ref Todd Sinclair returned to reffing for the first time since the Tag Team Title Match five matches ago, getting a big ovation from the crowd. Rhett Titus also returned to commentary after doing more posing. Bruiser cut a promo to make this match No DQ, saying after Young told him he wasn’t a friend and left him, he finally realized that Silas sucks (cue a crowd chant), and that they should have a fight as opposed to a match. Bruiser quickly introduced chairs and tables into the match, and he put Young through a table in the corner with a running cannonball for a nearfall. Bruiser was rammed into a chair wedged into the opposite corner. Bruiser gave Young a flying hip toss off the top, but then was slammed off the top onto chairs he had set up himself. Young zip-tied Bruiser to one of the ropes and looked to punish him with chair shots, but Brian Milonas made the save. He was taken out when Young avoided a banzai drop from him and hit him with a chair to send him crashing through a table on the floor. These guys really went all out for this, potentially putting a bow on their standing issue.
- The next match announced was the new trio Villain Enterprises challenging the Kingdom for the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Titles. When the Kingdom entered, Taven told them that they don’t deserve a shot at the titles yet. They said they would consider giving them the opportunity if they get past another team that is both proven, and undefeated.
13. Villain Enterprises beat Cheeseburger, Eli Isom, and Ryan Nova after Nova took a Gonzo Bomb from Brody King and a moonsault off the top from PCO. Despite the setup, this match was longer and more competitive than expected. King and PCO got to have monster moments against their smaller opponents, with King throwing big chops. Cheeseburger, Isom, and Nova still had time to shine, and they got a way-too-close nearfall on PCO. A cool moment towards the end saw Scurll give one of them a tombstone on the floor while the other two received chokeslams onto the edge of the ring.
14. Jay Lethal, Flip Gordon, and Best Friends (Trent Beretta & Chuckie T.) beat The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson), Cody, and Adam Page (w/ Brandi Rhodes) when Gordon pinned Cody after a 450 splash. This was announced as an HonorClub exclusive. and it felt like a post-show dark match as it went along, with lots of silly but crowd-pleasing moments. The Best Friends invited Lethal into their hug, but did not allow Gordon to join. Ref Paul Turner went down, allowing Lethal’s team to go crazy on the Elite and put Cody through the timekeeper’s table. Brandi hit Beretta with her bionic spear, but Beretta came back with Shattered Dreams to Cody. Leading up the finish, they were all doing each other’s signature moves. The Young Bucks hugged, so the Best Friends gave them superkicks. Cody then hit Lethal Injection on both Best Friends, so Lethal hit Cody with CrossRhodes to set up the finish. All eight wrestlers still hugged each other afterward.
- The Elite had the ring to themselves afterward to say goodbye. Matt said how he Nick first showed up on ROH on HDNet ten years ago, and that at least for him these last two years have been the best of his career. Just then, out came Bully Ray and Silas Young, with Bully yelling at the four of them, allowing the Briscoes to jump them from behind. The four of them were then joined by Shane Taylor in the beatdown. Lethal and his team ran out to avenge them, but they were fought off, with Lethal getting laid out in the ring with a Jay Driller. Bully Ray yelled at fans in the crowd, asking if this was the farewell they wanted. He said to a laid out Lethal that twenty years ago, fans would be jumping the rails to save him, but not today, because these fans are pansies. Bully and the Briscoes kept trying to incite the fans into rioting (thankfully everyone knew better), Lethal tried to fight back only to be knocked down again by Taylor, and Cabana tried and failed to make the save. The Elite had long left the ring by the way, so the only fallen body being celebrated over by the heels was the ROH World Champion. Jay Briscoe more or less closed this segment by saying we can all lick his balls.
This taping pretty much lasted five and a half hours, but until the last two matches or so, it went by pretty smooth for me. Helped to have a friend (and a friend of his) nearby, far more comforting and less monotonous than sitting next to a stranger. Some good matches to look forward to from these tapings, and a number of seeds planted for next year, from new feuds, to a new faction, to lots of Matt Taven.

Task 4: The Guild –– Ora
Tumblr media
Guild Member Name: Ora , (Bridget Welsh)
Face Claim: Aislinn Paul
Age: 22
Species: Human
Powers & Abilities: Chronokenisis
Backstory: Bridget Welsh always had a quite nervous disposition. Quiet for most of her life, she had learned to make herself more likable by adapting a dry, ironic humor. It served as a good defense mechanism against any bullies that tried to bring her down as she went through the trials and tribulations of puberty. As she got older, however, she became more and more reserved. That witty, sardonic humor became reserved for those closest to her. The rest of the world, in turn, saw a quiet girl with a bright mind and, every so often, a silver tongue.
Problems arose, however, when Bridget hit high school. Taking tests would have her face and hands going numb. her whole body would tremble at the thought of verbal confrontation. Small, insignificant things would make her heart race and her brain fall down dark, terrifying hypotheticals. Getting up in the morning became more and more difficult as dread seeped into her bones. Dread of going to school, hinged around the possibility of failure.
Things came to a head during a pivotal moment in her academic career: her SATs. Her test-taking anxieties skyrocketed, the constant reminder of the ticking clock weighing on her like shackles bound to her desk. She’d studied, gotten tutoring, but very little could prepare her for the pressure when the time came. Her hands shook so much she could barely fill in the Scantron sheet in front of her. Hell, she couldn’t even feel her hands, or her feet, or the tip of her nose. Bridget felt sick to her stomach, positive she’d faint soon as tears began to well in her eyes. This was it. The end of her academic career and, by proxy, the rest of her life. The overstimulation of it all flooded her system, the air growing heavy, body going electric with adrenaline and panic until –––
It stopped. Not the anxiety, not the fear, but everything. The world around Bridget completely froze, the room falling quiet as her fellow students stilled, along with the moderator, her mouth agape in preparation to speak. Dumbfounded, Bridget looked up to see that the clock, too, had stopped in its motion. Time itself had come to a halt. All except for her.
To some, maybe this would have incited more hysteria. But all Bridget felt was the most acute sense of relief. Maybe she’d fallen off the deep end, she figured, but even if she had this was precisely what she needed. She had all the time in the world, quite literally; the least she could do was take a damn breath and collect herself. She even stood, marveled at how she could still push back her chair and walk around without anything snapping back around her. She got water, let herself sharpen her pencil, even stared at the ceiling for a good while before filling in more test answers. It was only when, consciously, she decided she was ready to return to the real world that time resumed with a jump, the moderator appropriately announcing the remaining thirty minutes left to the test. With newfound confidence, Bridget continued, her alter-ego Ora formulating in the back of her brain as she sped ahead of her peers.
Work as a supposed superhero came slowly to Bridget, not much of the fighting type if truth be told. It took quite a bit of personal practice for her to hone her ability without sending herself into body-numbing panic. The trigger, she found, was a definite and concentrated need for time to cease, its mere fabric stopping in its infinite weaving at her own will. By proxy, resuming of time came with purposeful permission to do so. It relieved her, knowing her power was completely intentional and not heavily prone to accident. That is, of course, save for a few exceptions: angry fights, low emotional points, or even times of high excitement. The conscious decision to return, though, always kept her safe.
Telling her parents proved difficult; how can you explain to someone a power which they cannot perceive? Evidently, by using your time-without-time to move quite a few things around the kitchen, spilling milk and inverting pots, to make big enough of an impact. Immediately, Bridget’s mother took to highlighting news events, especially with the rise of Spectrum patrolling Newhaven. Her father even got her bits and pieces of steampunk-esque attire from Halloween stores for her, and many holidays were filled with bits and pieces of costume paraphernalia for what they disguised as ‘cosplay’ to non-knowing relatives. Bridget’s younger brother even helped her design her sigil. So, Bridget –– Ora –– began to work in consistent bursts: her temporal interruption perfect for throwing any evil-doers off balance and letting her move to a safe place before damage befell her.
Such covert tactics, ironically, got the attention of the Guild relatively quickly. More of a flashy bunch, the Guild seemed keen for a member with less austere tactics and abilities. Under their wing, and within the safety of the Guild’s headquarters. Ora has begun to flex her temporal muscles, just beginning to explore what other variations of time manipulation she can slip into her wheelhouse.
Furthermore, she’s learning to rebuild her confidence; a superhero cannot go around with their head ducked whilst in costume, anyway. The surplus of fellow feminine company obviously helps. Maternal and sister-like figures have thus far helped Bridget to be more open in her dry humor, and even with her own physique as what one would assume is an ‘active’ member of the community, despite her general lack of a quick pace in her tactics. The older gentlemen within the Guild treat her akin to a sister, which also helps in feeling less awkward walking around the halls of HQ. It’s only the new kid, Atlas, that seems to set her stomach to flipping, and she’s slowly starting to figure out why...
Overall, Bridget is a nervous, intelligent, and sweet soul. More one to look before jumping, she sometimes comes off as overly trepidatious. But get her annoyed enough, and she can have quite an impish and mischievous streak. Anger in Bridget brings with it rash thinking and a spike in impulse, usually offset by her own ability. Maybe she’s still a bit trapped in herself, deep down. But that’s nothing constantly trying to save the world cannot fix.
Moral Alignment: Neutral Good
Signature Move: Temporal Interruption –– To put it simply, Ora can stop time; think Zack Morris from Saved by the Bell. Everything freezes around Ora, and she can go around, move things as she pleases, take a nap, go get intel, whack a few people upside the head. Whatever she needs to do, she can, all whilst everyone around her perceives that she did so in a blink of an eye.
Extra Info:
Tumblr media
Sigil: A clock with slightly bent hands, a la ‘Alice in Wonderland’, Mad Hatter sort of deal.
Diagnoses: Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Attacks, mild OCPD.
Family:
Mother –– Tara Welsh née Skulkin. Copy Editor, detail-fanatic, socially conscious. Will be the person to go to local protests fr liberal social change, but also the person to correct grammar on posters.Maybe a hair too much on the pulse of current events.
Father –– Emmett Welsh. Convention Organizer, not-so-closeted Nerd-of-All-Things. The type of person that offers to plan every party you so much as suggest you might be thinking of having. Hellbent on tight scheduling.
Younger Brother –– Marcus Welsh. Currently 17, Student, aspiring Graphic Designer. For ‘some reason’, very much into making Ora fan art and Guild promotional posters. Gets sick to his stomach whenever his friends mention wanting to get any type of romantic with his sister or with Ora, which obviously have ‘no correlation whatsoever’.
Color Scheme: Bronze, brown, black.

anime expo was soooooooooo much and it was so hot and overwhelming (and yes, crowded) but i had so much fun! under the cut because i sure do talk a lot
i knew ax was big but WHOA OK its on a whole nother level!! i dont think i even saw the entirety of the convention center and i didnt even step into the jw! wow ok! i was really worried about it being overwhelming and everyone being too busy to.. be friendly i guess but that wasnt really a problem!! everyone was really friendly, especially at the meets!! the ff meet was on the hottest day of the weekend and it was overcrowded and difficult to get things organized but everyone was still friendly and talkative and looking out for each other in that wild heat!! SHOUT OUT TO THE ZACK FAIR PHOTOBOMBING THE SHOOT BY DOING SQUATS IN THAT HEAT!! you really are a hero, zack fair. you really are.
speaking of the heat, idk how i survived in noctis all day in.. 106 or something degree weather but i loveloveLOVED being him!! it was worth the suffering!!!! one of my favorite costumes ive done so far i think and i got so many super nice comments from people on it and waah! also got arrested by the thot patrol and shoved into the ballpit by ardyn and ik ive already posted pics but that was fun. i didnt take nearly enough shitty meme pictures honestly. smh. I DIDNT GET A PICTURE OF ME GETTING FRIENDZONED BY LUNAFREYA which happened. noctis did a heart hand luna thumbs up’d. rip noctis.
cosplaying kingdom hearts is always a really fun time and im kinda glad i didnt finish riku in time bc kairi was a godsend of a costume. so comfortable. bless. and i just love being her!! im glad i brought my pins back to give out, everyone had the CUTEST reactions!! a sora also tossed me a little paopu fruit as he walked by which was really sweet and its soft and adorable!!
it was also the first time i wore bakura which was uhhhh and experience and that costume didnt make it home in one piece lol i really didnt feel great in it but i still had some fun!! littlekuriboh complimented it lol so like, my inner 10 year old can die happy!
i think the thing that really made this con was the people!! rooming with sharon, janice and emma was like, the best, chillest hotel room and i hadnt seen any of them in EONS i miss u guys come back to cali soon!!!! and meeting angel and aj was really nice and i had a lot of fun hanging out with them and also going to dennys at midnight in cosplay. andrew and jesse are local friends so i see them a lot but it was still fun hanging out with them at the con! they braved the outdoors to meet up with me at the ff shoot. brave souls.
i met a lot of real cool new people too, and people id seen once or twice before at cons and got to spend more time with and everyone was just! really nice!! and fun to talk to!! hopefully the people i met felt the same about me and i didnt annoy anyone or talk anyones ear off.. too much cause i sure do that my apologies if i was the biggest pest in the universe!!!
ALSO SPENT A LOT OF TIME IN ARTIST ALLEY LOL.. someone was selling ffxv omanjuus so i got a prompto and a noctis!! omanjuus are my absolutest favoritest kind of merch ever. im so happy. actually i mostly just bought xv merch for myself... OOPS i got some cute sorikai tho!!! i got more stickers for my travel sketchbook :3
AND!!!!! AND I GOT TO PLAY KH3 DEMO!!!! the lines were capped for most of the weekend... except for when i walked by and one of the booth employees went “PSST HEY GUYS, WANNA PLAY KINGDOM HEARTS 3?” hells yeah. uh, i know some people dont wanna see details about kh3 until they actually play it and idk if anyones actually READING this but im gonna talk about the demo so like.. leave now if u dont wanna see any of that
the gameplay!! was so good!! it was so FAST and smooth and intuitive! but it was creative and cool and you can switch keyblades in combat and the attraction attacks are SO CUTE! theres something so emotionally satisfying about killing things with the tea cups. you could play olympus and/or toy story world if you had time to do both in the 15 minutes you got (i finished toy story and almost finished olympus!) the toy story world was so cute!! TOY SORA IS THE MOST ADORABLE and fighting in the mechs was actually really fun!! the cutscenes were included for toy story but there were 7 minutes of cutscene so i skipped it rip. there’s nothing new that hasnt been seen in trailers and stuff yet but it was super fun to actually play it!! it’s a lot like bbs/ddd gameplay but a lot better and idk, im not an expert in gamedev but it just felt like combat had a good.. flow to it and its a million lightyears away from the clunky gameplay of kh1!!!! ITS COME SO FAR!! IM PROUD! and also it just feels like its a REAL CONCRETE thing thats actually happening now that ive actually gotten a chance to play it for real. kh3 isnt fake yall. wow. wow.
ANYWAY. THAT WAS A LOT OF TALKING AND I FEEL LIKE THERES A HUNDRED MORE THINGS I WANNA SAY it was a good weekend. im very tired. im so sad its over. idk when my next con is but im hoping mayyybe ala???? maybe????????? we’ll see! other than that uhhh i really just have disneyland planned so... i guess its time to actually finish riku for the halloween party.

G1 Climax 27 Night 9: Desti-NO
We’re at Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium for the 5th round of Block A matches.
Match 1: David Finlay, Michael Elgin vs. BUSHI, SANADA
Elgin and SANADA mix it up including a nice spot where Elgin slingshots SANADA from the apron into a powerslam. Suicide dive from BUSHI takes out Elgin. LIJ win after SANADA moonsaults into his Skull End submission and forces Finlay to tap.
Match 2: Hirai Kawato, Katsuya Kitamura vs. Hiromu Takahashi, EVIL
Kitamura looks strong at the start as he knocks down EVIL with a shoulder block and hits big chops to both his opponents (watching Kitamura go crazy after hitting a move is currently my favourite thing in wrestling). Kitamura hulks up after receiving a series of chops from Hiromu. Some flashy offence from Kawato after he makes the hot tag but a superkick by Hiromu stops him in his tracks and he taps out to a Boston Crab.
Match 3: Taichi, Minoru Suzuki vs. Yujiro Takahashi, Tama Tonga
Yujiro is accompanied to the ring by someone cosplaying as Fran from Final Fantasy 12. Suzuki is attacked by Tonga before he even gets to the ring (depriving everyone of hearing his great theme in full) and they brawl into the crowd. Action makes it’s way back into the ring, Tonga swears a lot and they exchange elbows.
We have a cane-off as Yujiro and Taichi clash in the ring with their signature objects. Despite attempted interference from El Desperado, Yujiro wins it for his team by pinning Taichi after a DDT. After the bell Tonga does some twirly dance moves with a cane and Suzuki throws a chair at him.
Match 4: Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Satoshi Kojima vs. Chase Owens, Kenny Omega
Omega locates an abandoned cane on his way to the ring and uses it to mime along to his entrance theme. Kenny is double teamed by his opponents before throwing the referee in the way of a Tenzan Mongolian chop. Bullet Club double-team Tenzan and Owens channels his namesake by taking a big run-up only to apply a headlock.
Kojima gets the hot tag. Corner chops to both Omega and Owens, Koji-cutter to Omega and a lariat to Owens for the win.
Match 5: Tomoyuki Oka, Ryusuke Taguchi, Juice Robinson vs. Gedo, Toru Yano, Kazuchika Okada
Lovely moment as a man aggressively waves a fan in excitement as Okada walks past him. Taguchi and Gedo start out and what follows is approximately 5 minutes of various people using their bum as a weapon.
Okada diligently stacks up chairs on the outside only to throw Juice into them. Yano gets the win for CHAOS in typical Yano fashion with a double low blow on Taguchi/Oka and a roll-up on the latter.
Match 6: Togi Makabe (4 pts) vs. Yuji Nagata (0 pts)
Nagata’s cupping marks don’t look very pleasant. Hard hitting action to begin with some particularly stiff kicks from Nagata. Nagata shows real intensity and follows up an Exploder suplex and Fujiwara armbar with mounted punches.
Crowd fully behind Nagata and he gets nearfalls after a Brainbuster and a Saito suplex. Makabe gets back in it with a chop to the back of the neck and a German suplex. Makabe wins after a lariat and 2 King Kong knee drops, leaving Nagata winless. This was pretty good, Nagata ramped up the aggressiveness and his search for his first points adds an extra layer to the match.
Match 7: Kota Ibushi (4 pts) vs. Bad Luck Fale (4 pts)
Fale works the leg and pushes the referee over as he attempts to get him off Ibushi. Strikes by Ibushi take Fale down and he follows up with a standing moonsault. Fale attempts a Grenade thumb spike but Ibushi flips out of it and manages to hit an impressive German suplex on the big man.
Ibushi misses with a dive, Fale throws him into a barrier and the action goes into the crowd. Shades of ECW as Ibushi scales the balcony and hits a big moonsault into the crowd. Ibushi gets a lot of offence in but his piledriver attempt is reversed into a Samoan Drop. Running splash to a downed Ibushi, Grenade and crucifix powerbomb wins it for Fale. Fun clash of styles with some memorable spots.
Match 8: Hirooki Goto (4 pts) vs. Zack Sabre Jr (6 pts)
Goto has the upper-hand early but interference from El Desperado allows ZSJ a chance to get back into it and he immediately goes for submissions. Things go less technical with an exchange of hard open-handed slaps and uppercuts.
Octopus hold is countered with an Ushigoroshi but ZSJ avoids the GTR and hits a Northern Lights suplex that’s transitioned into an armbar. ZSJ tries to break Goto’s wrist and gets some nearfalls with bridging cradle pins. Goto wins after a stiff kick to the chest and a GTR. Not too much to say about this but it had good-looking offence from both men and a pretty brisk pace.
Match 9: Hiroshi Tanahashi (6 pts) vs. YOSHI-HASHI (2 pts)
Tanahashi demonstrates his athleticism with a dive to the outside before skinning the cat back into the ring (followed up with some less athletic air guitar). YOSHI-HASHI has his leg worked over and Tanahashi follows up a Dragon Screw with a Cloverleaf submission.
YOSHI-HASHI gets some offence in and gets nearfalls after a powerbomb and Swanton. Karma attempt is countered with a rolling neckbreaker by Tanahashi but he misses with a Slingblade. Tanahashi gets the win after a successful Slingblade and High Fly Flow. Good match, pretty definitive win by Tanahashi but YOSHI-HASHI came out of it looking better than in some of his other matches.
Match 10: Tomohiro Ishii (4 pts) vs. Tetsuya Naito (6 pts)
Lock-up to start. Naito fakes-out a clean break on the ropes before spitting in his opponent’s face. He then taunts Ishii, rolls out of the ring and takes his sweet time getting back in. Ishii has had enough and blasts Naito off the apron before carrying on the fight outside.
Elbows and chops by Ishii in the corner but Naito fires back with some hands of his own. Naito tries to slow the pace down with a headscissors but Ishii rocks him with headbutts and more elbow strikes. Naito gobs in his face again but gets squashed in the corner with a big clothesline.
Back and forth action as they progressively land bigger moves and continue to hit each other really hard. Naito hits a Destino but Ishii kicks out. Naito lands a second but Ishii immediately pops back up. Lariat and Brainbuster by Ishii for the win. Ishii can’t be bothered with the usual closing promo and just walks to the back.
This was really good. It didn’t hit the same level of crazy as something like Omega/Elgin but it built nicely to a hot finish and their two wildly different personalities played off each other well.
tldr;
Main event was match of the night but plenty of other good stuff scattered through the card. I’ve found myself looking forward to the Block B shows more than the A ones but there’s still plenty of interesting looking match-ups left in this half of the bracket.

I screwed up.
Severely.
I committed the biggest, most horrendous crime as a writer and mental health advocate.
I forgot to update my blog over the last month.
*Cue Psycho violin screech music*
In my defence, most of September and October have been a whirlwind of non-stop hustling and bustling, and it was only my birthday weekend past that I realized how much I put my blog on the back burner in an attempt to keep up with other writing demands.
And let’s be realistic, being a stay-at-home, freelance writer doesn’t mean I get lots of free time. Most days I’m barred up in my writing den with my cats and dog, smashing my keyboard as I try to get projects done while fuelled by one too many ice caps and chai lattes.
Should I have been paying more attention to my blog? Yes. Am I an idiot for putting off this recent post? Oh, yeah! Could I have been more attentive? Hell yes, but sometimes life has a way of drifting to more pressing matters, and sometimes you gotta sacrifice in one area in exchange for something else.
In lieu of putting Fighting the Good Fight on a brief hiatus, I spent the last six weeks focusing on promoting Lemonade Stand and travelling for my unofficial (and very underpaid) book tour. I spent over two weeks travelling around Newfoundland, personally delivering books to fans, friends, and family. I racked up km’s on my Rav, I spent way too much money at Tim Hortons (on ice caps and blueberry muffins, of course) and took a few days here and there to spend time with long-lost friends and family.
How I kept up with everything over the last six weeks is beyond me, and the thought that after Tuesday we’re heading into the Christmas season, I’ll be lucky if I keep up with all the demands and expectations. (Lets hope I do!)
That’s not to say I didn’t have fun over the last few weeks either. I get to spend every day doing something I love – writing and more writing. I get to lose myself in my manuscripts and recently, I’m really into writing a lot of poetry. (Thanks Rupi Kaur!) At the end of the day, it’s a lot of pain and fun, but I couldn’t be happier.
(Now if only I could stick to a better sleep schedule.)
So in ode to a crazy, fun, busy, and overwhelming six weeks, I decided to compile a list of all the adventures I have been losing myself in. So settle in, grab an ice cap, and enjoy the highlight reel.
Getting to Play Band Groupie to Rough Hands
What’s better than best friends and great local music?
When they’re together of course!
I was lucky enough to have my friends from the band Rough Hands on the west coast, lending them a place to crash and spending time together toward the end of their Eastern Canada tour. It was a very impromptu stay, but we had fun and I was thankful to get to see some faces I haven’t seen in a while. Their show was absolutely fantastic and I was giddy to play band groupie for the weekend.
Seriously, check them out. Luke and this band mates are making some great music. They’re 100% gonna make it to the big leagues – no doubt about it!
(Just remember who offered you a bed and shower when you’re rich and famous some day. 😉 )
Check them out here and here!

Book Launch and Unofficial Province Book Tour
Mid-September, after I spent several days personally signing books and writing messages to all the 110 wonderful people who personally bought Lemonade Stand off of me, I packed up my Rav4 and headed across NL to promote and deliver my book to masses.
Through my book tour, I got to meet a lot of new people, listen to other people’s struggles with mental health issues, and talk book writing. It was a great and exhausting two weeks travelling around (and getting lost a few times!). Don’t worry, I plan to honour this experience in a future blog post. (Coming soon!)
Chris de Burg Concert and St. John’s Adventures
In all fairness, I had other motives besides my book tour to head across the province. I had tickets booked to Chris de Burg’s concert with my mama. Having Mom raise me on the right kind of music, I have only been waiting to see him live since I was thirteen. With the launch of his new cd A Better World, it didn’t take much begging and pleading for Mom to agree to come with me.

I was excited beyond belief when he walked out on stage. I laughed. I cried. I sang at the top of my lungs. (Sorry Mom.) I danced wildly around in my seat. (Sorry Mom.) I clapped a lot and cheered super loud (Again, sorry Mom.), but I had the time of my life. One of the best concerts I’ve been to at Mile One (and that includes The Backstreet Boys). And lets just say, I wasn’t the only one losing my cool when he ended the show with “Patricia the Stripper”. (Right, Mom? 😉 )
I also planned things for my wedding and finally got to say Yes to the Dress! It took a few hours, a mild panic attack and a few happy tears later, but I’m glad to finally have another item checked off the Thomas Wedding list.
In addition to all the wedding fun, I curbed my adventures back to book research and with the help of my best friend, I spent some time exploring St. John’s, making sure that I was getting details and descriptions right for my upcoming NL novel.
Besides I got to spend a lot of time on Signal Hill, taking in the view (despite the cold) and I finally got to see the Canada 150 sign while getting to pose for some pictures with my bestie at the historic site. I also got to see Quidi Vidi for the first time ever, which was a real treat. (It’s pretty bad I lived here my whole life and I’m only now seeing great land marks. Fail.)
Despite acting like a tourist, I did get a lot of information for my manuscript and I know it will all pay off in the long run when my NL novel is finally complete.
You’re welcome in advance.
    Working on my NL Novel
Once I concluded my book tour, and book research, and my mini vacation home, I finally mucked back to Corner Brook and remained held up in my writing den for weeks on end. While still trying to working on getting We Were Fighters published (and exploring self-publishing options as well), I’ve been spending a lot of time on my new manuscript, a fiction novel based in my home province of Newfoundland.
Knowing that only publishing houses here on The Rock will only take on NL content manuscripts, I’m hoping that this could be my first foot in the door to getting my novels out there. Within three weeks I had banged out over a hundred plus pages, turning my eyes and brain to absolute mush. As I mentioned before, being a writer is lots of pain and fun, and despite being hooked on caffeine and severely sleep deprived, I’m having a lot of fun writing this novel and creating a small taste of NL culture.
But with the goal to have the manuscript finished before Christmas, I still have a long way to go! Writer’s block had me stuck a few times and as a haphazard writer who doesn’t write in linear fashion, I find myself getting caught up in wanting to write the exciting parts vs. “the middle”. A terrible flaw on my behalf.
But don’t worry, I’m a pretty disciplined writer and with less than a hundred pages to go, I’m hoping that by 2018, this could be a potential published work.
Wish me luck.
  Hiking and Halloween Birthday
Of course, October isn’t my favourite month just because CB is absolutely one of the most beautiful places in the world during the fall. I also get to look forward to a string of friends’ birthdays (including my own) and of course, Halloween and lots of horror movies!
While admittedly, October brought about a brief depression episode, I still managed to trudge through most of my writing duties, even if it felt like pulling teeth some days (and bouts of relentless anxiety). A week leading up to my birthday, I could barely pull myself out of bed, and tragically, I lost one of my childhood pets. My dear cat Sam, who was lucky to have eighteen long years of life. He made his journey over the Rainbow Bridge the day before my birthday, so celebrating this year was followed with fleeting moments of sadness and mourning.
Rest peacefully, old man. ❤
But despite losing one of my oldest pals, I did get to spend a wonderful weekend in Gros Morne, hiking with the crowd to celebrate one of my friend’s birthdays. While it was cold, we were severely hungover, and it snowed, we managed to hike Green Gardens without coming across any bears and barely escaping the obvious signs of a huge-ass bull moose. All in all, a successful trip up the Coast.
Thankfully though, I got to end October on a high note. Not only did my birthday fall on a Friday this year, I also got to have a Halloween birthday party with my best friends. Following a week of bad anxiety and fatigue, and the death of my kitty cat, my birthday turned out to be a great night of friends, fun, and laughter – and really how could I ask for more?
Considering I spent the last two Halloweens either working or stuck on the couch with the stomach flu, I was glad I finally got to put my Phoenix costume to good use. After a few weeks of practicing cosplay makeup and putting finishing touches on my costume, I was able to bring one of my favourite X-Men characters to life. Of course, Zack gave Hugh Jackman a run for his money as a Logan/Wolverine look-a-like.
Besides, we had fun putting off a very funny – and very drunk – photo shoot. We had comic book heroes from all universes, we had some crossover hybrid characters, and witches. But hey, having Lego Batman there was definitely the most fun – especially when trying to watch your bestie struggle to drink through that face mask.
My birthday was a great end to a fast-paced month. Despite all the chaos, and work loads, and the threats of approaching deadlines, it was nice to take a few nights just to enjoy company with those I care about most. Sometimes we get lost in the mundane of every day life, and sometimes we get too caught up in our own lives to remember to spend time with others. So I was grateful for the few moments of peace and hilarity in a busy schedule. ❤
Even though I had lost track of time and let six weeks zip by without realizing how much I had been neglecting my duties to my blog, I am thankful for the chaos and havoc that has been my life for the last several weeks.
Autumn has come and gone before I realized it, and give it a few more day, there will likely be snow on the ground. While I am no where near ready for winter, and even less prepared for the enclosing Christmas season, I’ve been reflecting lately on how lucky I have been this last year – getting to spend my time perusing my writing career. It’s far from perfect, and I’m making nickels compared to the dollars I was making serving tables, but I’m the happiest I’ve been in months, and that’s all that matters. Happiness is all that matters – it’s that hard and that simple.
So what if it means cutting back on ice caps and lattes or spending more nights eating in than out? Being “poor” doesn’t mean being unhappy. I had a great fall and instead of ending this blog post on a big sappy metaphor – how my life is changing like the colour of the leaves (See what I did there?), I’m getting one more season closer to my dreams.
So sometimes life gets hectic and I ignore my duty to my blog.
Sometimes I fall behind on writing duties at the expense of other writing projects, and sometimes I forget to reach out to friends and family more often than not – but that’s life. I’ve been on a wild ride these last two months and I can only wait with anxious breath about the impending winter adventures that I’m sure are in store.
Worst comes to shove, I can always write an apology blog post to make up for it all.
So here’s to next season, and the next blog post. I’ll see you guys soon.
And as always,
Fight the good fight.

Adventures, (Unofficial) Book Tour, Endless Ice Caps, Manuscript Writing, and Blog Fails I screwed up. Severely. I committed the biggest, most horrendous crime as a writer and mental health advocate.
