I dont want to discount what Zee went through because, let's face it, they all went through hell.

However, I can't help but notice that he was so much luckier than Alex, Simon, and D.

He was literally immune to experimentation, and while that was almost the death of him, he managed to escape the infirmary relatively untouched.

He manages to survive basically the apocalypse, despite being the only one that didn't get superhuman strength and healing.

Even his parents manage time survive, which is mind-boggling. I can't imagine there were many people at all in London who managed to survive.

And, at the end of it, he managed to get a girlfriend. This isn't as big a deal, but Lucy basically hated them all at first sight, and somehow over the course of a few hellish days, they ended up together.

I just think it's curious that he managed to survive relatively unscathed - I mean, he didn't even end up badly injured. Alex was a superpowered mutant and he ends the series with barely a functioning hand. It's just... interesting, is all.

my problem is that. escape from furnace is the only thing i can think of rn okay. but the fandom is. sososososo small. only 39 works on ao3. i have no one to go to to scream about alex sawyer and the unspeakable horrors he has witnessed. if this were a big fandom i could find other gary owens enthusiasts and we could collectively lose our minds about him. but i am stuck in my little corner rocking back and forth trying not to cry over the symbolism that donovan carries in the series even after his death DO U SEE MY PROBLEM

I'm forced to bear the curse that the ship I have with the most powerful soulmate tropes and best banter and friends-to-lovers dynamic you've ever seen is relegated to the escape from furnace YA novels, and I ship donovalex and donalzee too but really. alzee is the thematic ship ever. they're best friends. they become foils, plotwise. alex sawyer is the chosen one to take the nectar of the stranger and become his successor. zee hatcher is immune to its effects. alex falls and nearly loses himself but zee drags him back from the brink, zee is nearly kidnapped and used as a weapon against the multiversal entity for the purposes of corrupt imperialism. they're not canon and I don't usually do the soulmates trope but they're soulmates.

ABC News Live will celebrate Pride Month on Sunday, June 25, with “Pride Across America,” an unprecedented streaming event that spans the entire country, featuring five hours of live coverage from three of the nation’s biggest pride marches. In partnership with Hulu and ABC Owned Television Stations WABC (New York), WLS (Chicago) and KGO (San Francisco), “Pride Across America” will begin June 25 at 11 a.m. EDT with a one-hour pre-show, followed by coverage of the pride marches, featuring special guests, inspiring content and more. Coverage will also be available to stream live to all Hulu subscribers. 

“Good Morning America” Saturday and Sunday co-anchor and transportation correspondent Gio Benitez, “GMA3: What You Need to Know” co-anchor Eva Pilgrim, ABC Audio “Life Out Loud” host and ABC News contributor LZ Granderson, and Hulu’s “Drag Me To Dinner” host Murray Hill will anchor from New York, with correspondent Alex Perez and chief meteorologist Ginger Zee reporting from Chicago, and KABC (Los Angeles) reporter Christiane Cordero and senior Washington reporter Devin Dwyer live from San Francisco.

ABC News Live will also feature Hulu’s “Pride Never Stops” campaign during its broadcast, with drag legend and “Drag Me to Dinner” star Bianca Del Rio kicking off a “Pass the Mic” initiative, encouraging community members to share how their pride never stops.  Throughout “Pride Across America,” stars of the new Hulu Original series “Drag Me to Dinner” Neil Patrick Harris, David Burtka, Murray Hill, and Haneefah Wood, influencers Kaycee Clark, Aura Mayari and more will answer the “pass the mic” call, and let viewers know how they keep their pride going.

Not to plug my own works or anything, but I'm back and worse than ever! I tried some new stuff with this one, favoring a more dialogue-heavy format than usual. I've also been working on updating and rewriting some of my older stuff (esp Too Big to be Small Again) bc hoo-boy, did I not remember what the concept of 'direction in writing' was back then. Lmk what y'all think of this one! (spoiler warning: The only bad things that happen are Alex deciding to try the "have you ever been arrested?" line on a fellow inmate and the death of my shame and dignity overall because I am so damn proud of this).
