These awards are completely subjective, reflect only the personal preference of the blogger, and are just for fun. They do not indicate any advocacy for the quality of a thing. Also, I didn't watch every single drama that came out this year.

Rakharo had grown almost half a foot during his time away from Meereen and returned with arms and legs thick with muscle and four bells in his hair. From his medallion belt hung the great curving arakh.
Mt Shu is the pugilistic world's number 1 sect for many years. In order to protect the world from harm, the Sect Leader Zhuge Yuwo placed the enchanted gem into Ding Yin's body to prevent the green-clothed reverent, Shangguan Jingwo from stealing it over. Ding Yin then later went under Mt Shu to practice his sword skills, aiming to be Mt Shu's best disciple and seek revenge on Lu Pao. He meets Lu Pao's daughter, Yu Wuxin, by chance and realizes that she looks exactly like his deceased wife. The two fell in love. At the same time, the inner conflicts within Mt Shu starts to unravel itself, and a disaster is about to fall upon the pugilistic world. Ding Yin, together with his sect mates Dan Chenzi, Zhuge Ziying, Zhou Qingyun and his sworn brother Xiaozhang, set on a journey to prevent the disasters from happening. However, they instead fall into a more sinister plot, leading to everyone's relationships to fall apart.

Han Yuqin as Su Yin (素因)
Wei Chunguang as Miao Yi (秒一)
My thoughts on this drama :
Where shall I begin? I have the biggest crush on William Chan because of this drama. And I started it because of Nicky and Zanilia… Even though some things are completely ridiculous, the special effects are atrocious, and some characters are extra annoying, I stil lenjoyed it. I'm actually obsessed with the couple Ding Yin/Wu Xin... And I must add that the OST is also to die for!
A Dream of Splendor tells the story of three women of mixed pasts who travel to the capital and open a teahouse. Zhao Pan’er (Liu Yifei) is a former courtesan with experience in the tea business, Song Yinzhang (Lin Yun) is a current courtesan and talented musician, and Sun Sanniang (Liu Yan) is a divorced woman with culinary talents. They are joined by the male lead, Gu Qianfan (Chen Xiao) who is an intelligence officer from a powerful family.
This is a woman-centric story. You see the ugliness of the patriarchy, but you also see women finding ways to protect themselves by helping each other. It’s nice to see this in an idol historical drama, because most idol historicals gloss over or even romanticize the historical gender dynamics.
However, the drama doesn’t live up to its marketing about female empowerment. The female lead is primarily empowered by the male lead, and the male lead is empowered by his father. Furthermore, the drama felt the need to purify the female lead by emphasizing her virginity?? As a former courtesan who later had a three-year-relationship with another man, there is no reason (and no need!) for her to be a virgin. In a drama that seeks to humanize an “impure” class of women, it feels deeply wrong to see this kind of purification.
Honestly, the writing was mediocre. The story is full of plot holes and absurdities. The storyline peaks very early, so there are large stretches of the plot that feel boring or poorly organized. And when the characters face problems, those problems get resolved by unrealistic solutions (or a man showing up to save the day) that don’t really challenge the characters or help them grow.
The level of acting within the cast is mixed. Chen Xiao is generally a pretty good actor, and while I don’t think this is his best performance, he’s still great to watch. Liu Yifei seems to have improved a bit, but her acting still isn’t great. She still struggles to convey complex emotions, and during moments when she’s being a bit more expressive, her gestures and reactions look quite unnatural. I was really impressed by Liu Yan’s acting, and I liked her character too. Meanwhile. Lin Yun is probably the weakest link.
That being said, Liu Yifei and Lin Yun are both very pretty so I guess it makes up a bit for the weak acting? The courtesan Zhang Hao Hao is beautiful too.
A note on the chemistry between Liu Yifei and Chen Xiao: honestly, Chen Xiao would have chemistry with a potato, so of course the chemistry here is good. But tbh I also watched Simmer Down recently, and I found Chen Xiao’s chemistry with Wang Xiaochen in Simmer Down to be better than his chemistry with Liu Yifei in A Dream of Splendor.... (And it sucks because Wang Xiaochen’s character in Simmer Down is a total dud lol)
The sets and filming locations are beautiful to look at. It’s not the same few locations that you see in every historical drama, so the change of scenery is nice.
Sloppy cinematography warning: the choice of shots seemed amateurish at times.
A Dream of Splendor was a drama that I had been patiently waiting for, but it ended up being a little disappointing. I do think it’s a pleasant drama if you approach it as an unserious idol historical. Its biggest strength is the nice visuals, from the people to the sets. The female friendships are lovely too. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have very good writing, nor does it deliver outstanding acting. But depending on what you care about, the visuals might be enough for you.
my entire draft got deleted right after i finished writing + tagging it so i’m doing it all over again - public performances round 2 thoughts (pt 2)
very angry but evidently isn’t stopping me from making this post anyway. (pt 1)
fix me (original song): fu sichao 【付思超】,li luoer 【李洛尔】, rong yao 【荣耀】, yu yang 【于洋】,lu dinghao 【陆定昊】
love how they let fu sichao and li luoer write a song aka what they’re most comfortable with for a public performance
lu dinghao’s high note left me shook
only for yu yang’s final part to leave me all alone to recover in a ditch the both of them nailed their parts
i really like rong yao’s part of the rap especially and of course his voice was stellar
the song managed to bring together all their strong suits while pushing their limits at the same time it was great
i don’t care: bo yuan 【伯远】,gan wangxing 【甘望星】,shao mingming 【邵明明】,wu yuheng 【吴宇恒】,jing long 【井胧】
ok yall know.
i’m sure yall kNOW i’m a bo yuan stan he’s pratically my ult on this entire show
but let’s talk about jing long for a moment because resident vocal king slayed and knew he was slaying while at it
i loved how he played with the dynamics of his voice to add some spice to it instead of just going at it with full power all the way through if that makes sense
gan wangxing has this beautiful baritone voice that i’ve ben dying to hear since he sang unbreakable love! because of that i literally realised that baritones are my biggest weakness
i loved how he captured the slightly aggressive nonchalance of the song through his expressions while performing (might be thanks to his face naturally but he did it nonetheless)
wu yuheng brought out a side to him that i never thought existed without this i never would have guessed he would even come near to killing a concept like this
also somehow made an ugly ass bowl cut look good
i (finally) realised that what attracted attracts me to bo yuan as a performer is how he goes on stage and you can just tell that he enjoys himself every. single. time. without fail it’s insane
therefore i am: hiroto 【井汲大翔】,lelush 【利路修】,xie xingyang 【谢兴阳】,zhang teng 【张腾】zhang jiayuan 【张嘉元】
now this was an unexpected one for me
this stage probably was my favourite in terms of choreographic design - the white vs black? the white gradually being removed that ends with basically all black? the choreography itself for the story? top tier
i love xie xingyang as an actor and now i want to see him take on a psycho-ish role because of his facials here they were just that good
similar for hiroto like you have this adorable japanese boy who all the chinese trainees are in love with and then you have him on this stage being absolutely unhinged and going feral beyond belief we love to see it
zhang teng’s bit where they’re sitting on the floor? revolutionary
didn’t get the zhang jiayuan hype but he really could catch my attention here - that final expression did it all for me really
santa and rikimaru doing well is a given
but the one who really did it for me here was wu hai
it was so nice to see him in his element more as a professional dancer than an idol
although i did get the feeling that he was holding back almost like he could have gone off even harder than he did
the three of them did an amazing job at creating a piece that brought out their respective strengths
that being said though it would be so nice to see both santa and rikimaru perform something that isn’t dance-focused / a dance genre that isn’t right up their alley the way all their previous performances on the show were
when the mentors were making comments i just had a thought that was like ‘i wanna see santa do something cutesy (撒娇 was the term i had lol)’ which basically sums up that whole sentiment
comedic performances (imo) are usually hit or miss but this one did enough for me
amu hard carried this with his facials i lost it everytime the camera was on him omg
it’s almost like mate was literally made to perform this song
cross-eyed he yifan is something i never thought i would see but i loved it
the choreo was hella funny as well and that really helped
their intros before voting were so funny??? maybe that’s just me having no sense of humour but i died there
you better not think about me: nine 【高卿尘】,mika 【米卡】,patrick 【尹浩宇】,zhang xingte 【张星特】,yu gengyin 【余更寅】
i have to say that thing yu gengyin sat on up to the middle of the first chorus was very cool
all five of them are both strong and popular and after this stage i can clearly tell that ‘disappoint’ is nowhere close to existing in their vocabularies
yu gengyin’s voice is to die for throughout but that last line where he was tearing up crushed my heart into a million pieces
didn’t think much of nine before this but he really shone singing this song he deserved that mvp spot
as soothing as mika’s voice is it would be so cool to hear him have a ‘powerful’ vocal moment if you know what i mean
honestly all their voices are beautiful on their own but an absolute masterpiece together
they also brought out the emotions of a song that i personally really love so well props to them
also unbreakable love 2.0 was an added bonus HAHAHA
It’s the 1940s. I don’t care where you are in the world, the pilot and the torch singer have to fall in love in some messy and painful way. It’s a rule.

The Rise of Phoenixes confirms air date, releases new previews and stills
Chen Kun and Ni Ni’s The Rise of Phoenixes has released two TV spots, a bunch of new stills, and also gotten itself a new native title of 天盛长歌 (lit. The Golden Age of Tiansheng). The 70 episode drama is confirmed to air as a daily drama from August 14th.
I am 95% confident the drama has a sad ending in store for us just based on the last line:“I swear upon my father’s grave that regardless of…
Experts are tipping Dorado to become the next market leader in the hugely lucrative online delivery space and become one of the biggest e-commerce companies in Europe.
Dorado has evolved from the successful Foodout platform that serves over one million clients in six countries and has completed over four million orders since the company’s launch in 2014. The platform has already proved incredibly successful, generating over $50 million in sales, and the executives behind Foodout have founded Dorado to expand beyond the food delivery market and provide unparalleled access to all items in a mere matter of minutes, using innovative technology such as drones and robotics.
The value of the on-demand delivery industry is currently valued at $215 billion, creating huge scope for Dorado to secure significant market share and maximize investor returns. The current Initial Coin Offering (ICO) that is underway provides private investors with the opportunity to secure Dorado Tokens and play an active role in contributing to the platform’s future growth.
Dorado’s combination of innovative technology and leading expertise is attracting large-scale investment as the platform looks to expand to vital emerging markets and cement its position as the leading company in the last-mile delivery sphere.
Who Is Behind Dorado?
The platform is set for a significant boost due to the wealth of experience possessed by the appointment of some of the world’s leading e-commerce and digital figures to Dorado’s board. The new board members include an impressive mix of influential and respected thought leaders, proven e-commerce entrepreneurs and bold tech innovators. Board members include Pedram Assadi, Head of Operations at UBER Eats and former executive at IBM and Amazon, and Xiaochen Zhang, President of Frontier Group and a FinTech though leader.
The expertise is not limited to board level. Dorado’s leadership team also boasts impressive pedigree in cultivating and expanding e-commerce companies and those in other sectors. The founders of the successful Foodout Group are behind this evolution so intimate knowledge of the market is retained. These entrepreneurs know exactly what they are doing; after all, they led Foodout through a period of intense growth when sales increased by over 6000% in just three years.
Dorado has announced that Jonas Karosas, Co-Founder of Foodout Group, will act as Chief Executive Officer and Evgeny Tikhomirv, previously COO at eBay Russia and responsible for developing Russia’s three largest internet companies, will take on the role of Chief Operating Officer. Both Jonas Karosas and Evgeny Tikhomirv are responsible for co-founding Dorado.
What sets Dorado apart from other investment opportunities in the e-commerce sector is that the board and leadership team have a proven track record in building or developing online companies already so investor confidence is assured. In addition, all Dorado tokens held by high-level management have been “locked” for the next three years, meaning that they cannot be sold during this period. This move underlines the strategic approach and the long-term review that Dorado’s leadership is taking to develop the company to reach its full potential. Again, this should reassure investors and confirms the ambition of the team in growing the business.
Dorado’s leaders boast a proven track record of expansion and internationalization which differentiates the platform from the hundreds of other e-commerce investment opportunities.
Dorado’s leadership team has created realistic and clear expansion goals to accelerate the platform’s growth. One of the fundamental strategies driving this future growth will be the platform’s expansion into key markets, including Australia, Canada, Poland, and Russia during 2018 alone.
These rapid expansion plans are set to continue in subsequent years, with a UK launch scheduled for 2019, the same year as Dorado breaks into the Scandinavian market with operations starting in Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden.
Dorado’s ambition is set to continue into the next decade, launching in three new continents by 2021. Dorado plans to launch in South Africa and Brazil in 2020 and across five Asian markets in the following year, including India, Japan, and South Korea.
How Are Investors Set to Benefit from Dorado’s Growth?
Investors are attracted to Dorado by the generous financial returns on offer. For example, Dorado has announced that token holders will receive 7% of net sales as a quarterly bonus. This is potentially a huge quarterly payout for investors. After all, the online delivery market is valued at over $200 billion so even a modest estimate of market share would see potentially huge returns.
Dorado is proving an attractive proposition for thousands of investors, with the platform already receiving over $6.3m in investment. Demand is currently soaring with the offer of a discount of up to 30% on the available Dorado tokens attracting a huge range of investors.
The platform has identified five valuable revenue streams which will contribute to the company’s growth and successful expansion over the next few years including plans on the fees charged to both businesses and customers. These will be vary depending on each market although it is expected that businesses will be charged 20-30% in commission for delivery, use of the Dorado platform and support.
Dorado will also use its own marketing and social media channels to promote selected premium businesses listed on the platform for an additional fee to maximize revenue and investor returns.
How Will Dorado’s Use of Drones Revolutionize the Market?
Dorado is uniquely positioned to lead customers and businesses into the future of e-commerce. The platform has recently entered into a strategic partnership with LT Robotics Association, increasing technical knowledge by providing valuable links with the association’s members which will increase the expertise of management and enhance Dorado’s edge over competitors.
Investors concerned about the impact of Dorado’s embrace of innovative technology on traditional labor will be pleased to hear that drones will not be replacing a human workforce. Instead, the use of drones and a robotic approach complements traditional delivery methods to benefit businesses, their employees and customers.
Businesses will flock to Dorado’s platform as they can benefit from reduced costs while increasing profits by producing more orders and expanding the area that they can deliver to, unlocking access to a potentially huge additional customer base. Employees of these businesses, such as delivery drivers, who often work on commission or tips, can increase their earnings by reducing travel time by focusing on shorter trips, while drones can deliver to more remote and harder to reach areas.
The customers themselves can enjoy quicker delivery times, with Dorado aiming to deliver items within just fifteen minutes, as well as benefit from lower prices as a knock-on effect of the reduced costs of businesses in supplying these items.
Based on the evidence, it is easy to see why Dorado is currently so popular among investors!
