Me one month ago when trying a Cooking Experiment that didn't quite turn out as I imagined it: "Either I did something Very Wrong or that was a shit recipe/idea/cooking hack that that person suggested to me." -spends half the day grumbling about it-

Me today when trying a Cooking Experiment that didn't quite turn out as I imagined it: "Hmm, needs tweaking. Next time I'll try cooking x ingredient for more/less time and changing the ratio of ingredients y to z and maybe sprinkling a bit of cheese on top."

(The experiment today was savory oatmeal with eggs and veggies in it. 8/10, will definitely cook again.)

It's DEEPLY satisfying, I love good food so being able to make my own good food to exactly suit my own palate is amazing and I wish I'd learned how sooner.

A casual remark by a friend last night sent me back down the "am I a little autistic, maybe?" rabbit hole and uh

I don't know, I always rejected the possibility because of Reasons but I'm starting to rethink that?

I was sitting in choir rehearsal tonight feeling randomly icky and I could not pinpoint why. My new allergy meds regimen seems to be working well after a slightly rocky start, I slept fine last night, I ate fine-ish today, but my stomach was randomly complaining.

Then out of nowhere, I was like "You know what sounds AMAZING right now? A giant salad." And suddenly all I could think about was putting a mountain of raw veggies in my face.

So I stopped at the store for some salad veggies on the way home, and I made a giant salad and ate some and put the rest away for later.

It was PREPOSTEROUSLY satisfying and I cannot get over the fact that my body was like "GIMME SALAD NOW" in the middle of rehearsal.

(Lest anyone think I am in danger of turning into one of those people who only eats salads or who is going to talk about eating salads nonstop while depriving myself of other foods, let me assure you that I was snacking on maple popcorn at work earlier and that was ALSO EXTREMELY SATISFYING. It's all about variety. And deliciousness.)

I’m taking a staycation the week after next and I’m honestly so excited to be a blob and do nothing (unless it’s something fun that I want to do) for a whole week.

I can’t remember the last time I scheduled a vacation of any kind that was completely on my own terms: no family or other social obligations or pre-existing travel plans driving it, no days off work happening TO me because of illness or national/business holidays or pandemic shutdowns or being laid off. Just “I need a break and I have some vacation days so I’m using them.”

I’m actually not sure I’ve EVER done that. It kind of blew my mind when I suddenly realized it was a thing I could do at my current job.

I’m realizing, not for the first time, that my ex-fundie baggage has made me a knee-jerk contrarian who automatically looks for reasons to disagree with any sort of group consensus, purely because it makes me VERY NERVOUS when everyone agrees.

(And yet I also hate conflict, go figure)

Poor Elspeth is having the worst day imaginable and these two weirdos she picked up in the cemetery refuse to stop following her around and being extremely fucking weird at her while she's just trying to cope with her shitty life.

Like I would honestly be so furious at this point if I was her.

Ugh and then he's such a smug fuckwit to Elspeth when she brings Morag's body to him AND he rips her off on the price.

Like I honestly hate him more with every rewatch.

That's it. Everyone in this minisode sucks except for Elspeth and Morag.

Dalrymple seriously said "I'm too important to be a grave-robber, let those other people who don't matter be the ones who almost get themselves killed digging up bodies."

I kind of love the choice to make him such an ass, even when he's simultaneously being the voice of illumination and explaining something Aziraphale needs to understand.

AZIRAPHALE THE NEWSPAPERMAN HAS ARRIVED

This episode really has the best characters and character moments all around.

Dalrymple seriously said "I'm too important to be a grave-robber, let those other people who don't matter be the ones who almost get themselves killed digging up bodies."

I kind of love the choice to make him such an ass, even when he's simultaneously being the voice of illumination and explaining something Aziraphale needs to understand.

"But if you're in such dire need of bodies, why not dig them up yourself instead of making the poor and the desperate do it?"

For my money, this was the moment when actually Aziraphale started to understand, more than when he hugged the jar with the tumor in it..

...what is this music that plays when the Bentley turns yellow? We never hear anything like it at any other point. I'm so confused by it.

When Aziraphale says "Now you're getting it. That's much better," to the Bentley. Had there already been multiple previous instances of him turning on classical music and the Bentley trying to turn it into Queen and Aziraphale scolding him?

Adding this to the list of bonus footage I wish we'd gotten.
