I feel fandom would get along a lot better if there was mutual understanding that liking a character, agreeing with a character, and thinking the character is well constructed/executed are all separate (if often overlapping) positions, each with their separate tastes and subjectivities. Also: character portrayals are intended to make the audience feel things; this is separate from (if often overlapping with) analyzing/appreciating their actions and role in the story.

personally? i enjoy being a fan of characters who have done Wrong. i like when a character is not a perfect victim, has hurt people, has transgressed, has done bad things. sometimes its nice to feel the sting yknow? and to recognize that a character is not a flawless perfect victim, but is deserving of understanding and compassion anyway. a lot of people in fandom refuse to let go of moral absolutism and its... rough.

see, as an autistic person i fully sympathise with and shudder with murderbot in the forced-eye-contact scene, and i want to shake gurathin for it. but i also find it hilarious how obviously gurathin is also torturing himself. he also hates eye contact. he hates this too he's just chanting 'it's necessary it's necessary it's necessary' to himself to get through it the whole time. and it's not even helping anything!
